Vikings End Season 15-1, Defeat Green Bay in Thriller 27-26 ​ The Minnesota Vikings end the season with an astounding 15-1 record, defeating the Green Bay Packers with mostly second string players 27-26. Matt Cassel, playing in place of Colby Arden, threw for 179 yards and 2 interceptions in the game. Adrian Peterson once again had a monster game, rushing 33 times for 216 yards and two touchdowns. Fullback Thomas Tapeh also rushed for two touchdowns on the game. In the air, Bernard Berrian caught six passes for 74 yards. Defensively\, the Minnesota Vikings had a stand out game from their backup squad, with David Garrard, traded from Minnesota to Green Bay this season, being sacked eight times, and intercepted twice. Rookie linebacker Dana Russell had arguably the best coming out party, proving exactly why he is pegged as Minnesota's linebacker of the future; Russell did it all, having a sack, interception, forced fumble, and a fumble recovery against Green Bay in Lambeau field, something no other defensive player has done in the history of Lambeau Field. Charles Woodson also had an interception on David Garrard. Tyrell Johnson, a second year safety, had an outstanding game as well, forcing two fumbles and recovering one. On the kicking squad, Josh Brown is no longer perfect when it comes to extra points. Brown missed a single field goal attempt, and missed one extra point attempt. With a record of 15-1, the Minnesota Vikings take Wild Card week off and will host the NFC Playoffs. Minnesota Defeats Green Bay in Overtime Thriller 28-34 Advances to NFC Championship For First Time Since 2000 One of Greatest Post-Season Games of Super Bowl Era ​ The Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers played arguably one of the greatest post-season games in the history of the National Football League, as both teams combined for a whopping 1,241 yards of offense, smashing the record forged on November 12, 1950 between the Rams and the Giants (two teams of which are facing off in the playoffs today). Minnesota nearly broke another record, for most yards in a single game by a team, but was a mere 24 yards shy; the final for Minnesota's vaunted offense was 711 yards. NFL Rookie of the Year Colby Arden had a mixed day but came in clutch, throwing the game winning touchdown in overtime to Bernard Berrian, and came away 33/59 for 344 yards and 4 TDs and 4 Interceptions. However, the story was on the ground, as Minnesota's duo of Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor combined for 342 yards of offense. Peterson ran for 217 yards off 35 attempts, and Taylor 125 yards off 29 attempts. Bernard Berrian, the man who caught the game winning 53-yard touchdown pass from Colby Arden, had a monster game, catching the ball 10 times for 149 yards and two touchdowns, including the overtime winner.​ Defensively, it was business as usual for the Minnesota Vikings, despite missing key players Jared Allen, EJ Henderson, rookie linebacker Dana Russell, and Pat Williams. Brian Robison, Chad Greenway, and Kevin Williams each had a sack, and Madieu Williams, Antoine Winfield, and NFC Defensive Player of the year Cedric Griffin had an interception on Green Bay quarterback David Garrard. Antoine Winfield unfortunately went out with injury and is rumored to miss the NFC Championship Game. In the kicking game, Josh Brown had an abysmal game, missing three field goals that would have prevented Minnesota and Green Bay from going into overtime. With their NFC North rivals behind them, the Minnesota Vikings look to challenge either the only team to hand them a loss in the regular season, the St. Louis Rams, or the reigning Super Bowl Champions, the New York Giants. Minnesota will be hosting the NFC Championship for the first time since 1998, when the team also went 15-1 but just missed the Super Bowl.

Vikings Advance to Super Bowl Over Giants, 22-37 ​ Minnesota rejoices tonight as for the first time since 1977, The Minnesota Vikings are going to the Super Bowl. The Vikings defeated the defending two-time Super Bowl Champion New York Giants 22-37 in a massive upset that most pundits saw as the Giants' game to win. NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Colby Arden had an excellent game, going 20/37 for 258 yards and three touchdowns. Adrian Peterson had yet another good game, rushing 41 times for 152 yards as well. Bernard Berrian was a highlight for the receiving corps, as he caught 8 passes for 112 yards and two of Arden's three touchdowns. Defensively, the Minnesota Vikings vaunted defense stopped the #11 ranked offense from dominating the game, and sacked two time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning four times, and intercepting one of his passes. Domato Peko, Kevin Williams, Ben Leber, and Brian Robison had the sacks on Eli, and Chad Greenway had the lone interception. Madieu Williams was a stalwart, making 11 tackles for the defense. Josh Brown missed only one kick, and his longest made was from 47 yards out. The Minnesota Vikings finally make it to the Super Bowl after failing to make it the last four times appearing in the NFC Championship, the most painful, in the eyes of many Vikings fans, being the 1998 season, which saw them go 15-1 and lose the NFC Championship to the Atlanta Falcons. The Vikings are set to appear in their fifth Super Bowl in franchise history, their first four occurring between 1969 to 1977. The Vikings are 0-4 at the Super Bowl.​

MINNESOTA WINS SUPER BOWL!!! TITANS UPSET BY VIKINGS IN ONE SCORE SUPER BOWL 25-32 (Pandemonium as Vikings Celebrate First Super Bowl Victory)​ The curse of the Lombardi Trophy no longer has a deep set scar in the state of Minnesota, as the Vikings defeated the heavy favorites Tennessee Titans to win the Super Bowl for the first time in the 49-year franchise history. It was a hotly contested battle that came down to one last drive for Tennessee to tie up the game, but time expired before they could get one last play in at the goal line, one yard short again from another potential Lombardi Trophy. NFL Offensive Player of the Year Adrian Peterson was named Super Bowl MVP for his near 200-yard performance on the day. NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Colby Arden threw for three touchdowns as well. The Vikings defense sacked NFL Most Valuable Player Vince Young eight times and caught an interception from him as well. The defense also recovered three fumbles made by the Titans to seal the victory from their clutches. Josh Brown was perfect on the lone field goal he made as well. After the game, Minnesota Head Coach Brian Billick was asked how it felt to win a Super Bowl with the team that gave him his start in the National Football League, and he responded candidly, "The Super Bowl win with the Ravens back in 2000 was great as it was sort of... it was a good feeling knowing I was capable, as a coach, of leading a team to the Super Bowl, but tonight... Tonight was something else, to get Minnesota a Super Bowl after 49 years as a franchise, that's something special." The Minnesota Vikings will now look to their 50th season as one with something bigger to prove, not that they can win a Super Bowl, but that they can do it again. The outlook for 2010 is that a lot of talent could be leaving Minnesota as the Vikings attempt to get younger. For now, the state of Minnesota celebrates for the first time since the Minnesota Twins won the World Series in 1991.​
