Vikings Win Ugly Game Against Redskins 35-19
Despite a slow start, the Minnesota Vikings managed to retain a notch in the victory column to remain undefeated in the first four games of the season for the second season in a row. Colby Arden had a rare pedestrian game, throwing two bad interceptions and completing 18/38 of his passes for 201 yards and a lone touchdown. Adrian Peterson had another great game, extending his rushing yards total to 653 yards through four games, on pace to once again break the single season rushing record (which Peterson himself broke last year with 2,431 yards). Peterson rushed 33 times for 168 yards and a single touchdown, incidentally giving up a fumble in the game once as well. Unfortunately for the Minnesota Vikings, Bernard Berrian could not return to play, and Sidney Rice was knocked out of the game as well. Down his two biggest targets, Colby Arden adapted to the circumstances and found Jermichael Finley and others. The offense has been beginning to suffer from fatigue and damage, however.
Defensively, the Vikings once again remained a force to be reckoned with, as five separate players got a sack apiece, and it became a coming out party for rookie backup Outside Linebacker Jermaine King, who had 9 tackles, one sack, and two forced fumbles, recovering one of them himself. Charles Woodson yet again snatched two interceptions apiece for himself, bringing his total on the season to six interceptions, on pace to smash the single season interception record held by Dick "Night Train" Lane.
The Vikings move to 4-0 and now have to play next week without longtime Guard Bryant McKinnie, who suffered an elbow sprain and will be out for a few weeks, as well as highly touted rookie Tight End Janie Renick, who suffered a Strained Achilles. The Vikings face off against another undefeated team in the 3-0 New England Patriots. |
