NINE SACKS IN ONE GAME BY ONE PERSON HOLY SHIT

My literal strategy was to exploit the fact that Shaun Hill was the starting QB...

So I literally blitzed on almost every play. :heston

Vikings Slide By Bills 38-41 in Game of the Year

107339933.jpg

The Minnesota Vikings move to 3-0 after playing what is considered the best game of the year thus far against the Buffalo Bills. Adrian Peterson had a monster game, breaking the single game rushing yards record, one which Peterson himself set in 2007, in convincing fashion with 313 yards off of 50 rush attempts; Peterson also ran for a single touchdown on the day. Colby Arden threw 26/36 on passing attempts for 294 yards, and four big time touchdowns. His lone interception came late in the third quarter. For the receiving corps, Thomas Tapeh caught two big TD passes, and Sidney Rice and Aundrae Allison each caught one a piece, but perhaps the biggest hero for the Minnesota Vikings offense was Janie Renick, who caught a huge 55 yard pass from Colby Arden to push the Vikings into field goal range with less than 30 seconds left in the game. Josh Brown then kicked the game winning field goal, his first of the season.

The Vikings Defense, while statistically had a good day, fell apart late into the 3rd quarter after being up 31-14 with less than three minutes left. The Vikings proceeded to give up 24 points afterwards, 21 of which were in the 4th quarter alone. Kevin Williams recorded two sacks on former Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck, while Ben Leber tallied both a sack and an interception. Dana Russell, the second year MLB who came in for EJ Henderson (whom suffered a concussion during the game), also amassed an interception on Hasselbeck. Mike Doss, Pat Williams, and Jared Allen each forced a fumble respectively, but the defense was unable to recover them for a turnover.

While the Vikings move to 3-0, they will be missing Ben Leber, who suffered a notorious high ankle sprain, and possibly EJ Henderson, who is now on concussion protocol. Vikings star wide receiver Bernard Berrian is rumored to be returning next week, which will be good news for Colby Arden and company. The Vikings will be facing off against the 1-2 Washington Redskins next week at FedExField.

Passing:
Colby Arden - 26/36, 294 Yards, 4 TDs, 1 INT

Rushing:

Imagine having AP on your fantasy team this week :DEAD:

Man legit bout to become better than Emmitt Smith. :side:

I looked at the stat book in the game, and thus far his career yard total is 5,673 yards; he is only in his 4th year. In real life, Peterson in this time had, at the end of the 2010 season, 5,782 yards. :CENA

Regular Season, Week 4, 2010 NFL Season

Vikings Win Ugly Game Against Redskins 35-19

90
Despite a slow start, the Minnesota Vikings managed to retain a notch in the victory column to remain undefeated in the first four games of the season for the second season in a row. Colby Arden had a rare pedestrian game, throwing two bad interceptions and completing 18/38 of his passes for 201 yards and a lone touchdown. Adrian Peterson had another great game, extending his rushing yards total to 653 yards through four games, on pace to once again break the single season rushing record (which Peterson himself broke last year with 2,431 yards). Peterson rushed 33 times for 168 yards and a single touchdown, incidentally giving up a fumble in the game once as well. Unfortunately for the Minnesota Vikings, Bernard Berrian could not return to play, and Sidney Rice was knocked out of the game as well. Down his two biggest targets, Colby Arden adapted to the circumstances and found Jermichael Finley and others. The offense has been beginning to suffer from fatigue and damage, however.

Defensively, the Vikings once again remained a force to be reckoned with, as five separate players got a sack apiece, and it became a coming out party for rookie backup Outside Linebacker Jermaine King, who had 9 tackles, one sack, and two forced fumbles, recovering one of them himself. Charles Woodson yet again snatched two interceptions apiece for himself, bringing his total on the season to six interceptions, on pace to smash the single season interception record held by Dick "Night Train" Lane.

The Vikings move to 4-0 and now have to play next week without longtime Guard Bryant McKinnie, who suffered an elbow sprain and will be out for a few weeks, as well as highly touted rookie Tight End Janie Renick, who suffered a Strained Achilles. The Vikings face off against another undefeated team in the 3-0 New England Patriots.

Vikings Slide Past Patriots in Shootout 57-41

vikings_patriots006-nfl_medium_540_360.jpg

The Minnesota Vikings have done it again in absolutely exciting fashion. This time, against the 3-0 New England Patriots, a team well known for their regular season and postseason success. Colby Arden had himself a good game at the helm of the longship, throwing 24/46 for 337 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 1 interception; he finished with an 88.7 Quarterback Rating for the game. Adrian Peterson, whilst not used as much as the reigning rushing champion would have preferred, still had a notable day, going exactly 100 yards off 27 rushing attempts. Peterson and fellow running back Chester Taylor both rushed for touchdowns.

But for the game, it was the Nate Burleson show as the 7-year receiver caught four long balls for 150 yards and had two incredible touchdowns, one a receiving and one a 103-yard kickoff return to the big house (rookie cornerback Bobby Sylvester returned the first Patriots kick off for a touchdown as well). Bernard Berrian again showed what kind of ace he is as he hauled in 7 passes for 61 yards. Chester Taylor was also used as a receiver, as he and fullback Thomas Tapeh caught touchdown passes from Colby Arden.

Defensively, Charles Woodson continues to show that he is the defensive ace of the Minnesota Vikings, as his one interception today brings him to 7 interceptions in five games, which is seven away from matching the single season record set by Dick "Night Train" Lane in 1952. Terence Newman also had an interception on Tom Brady. Rookie linebacker Jermaine King came out of his shell in a big way in replacement of Ben Leber, by sacking #12 twice. Antoine Winfield and Tyrell Johnson both also forced fumbles, with Winfield recovering the same one he forced.

The Minnesota Vikings will move to 5-0 and continue to prove to the league that the Super Bowl hangover does not effect what fans are now calling the "Purple Pillagers", a new nickname for the Vikings that began last season.

Passing:

Colby Arden - 24/46, 337 Yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT

Rushing:

Adrian Peterson - 27, 100 Yards, 1 TD
Chester Taylor - 12, 39 Yards, 1 TD

Receiving:

Nate Burleson - 4, 150 Yards, 1 TD
Bernard Berrian - 7, 61 Yards
Chester Taylor - 3, 48 Yards, 1 TD
Thomas Tapeh - 4, 11 Yards, 1 TD

Defense:

Jermain King* - 2 Sacks
Ray Edwards - 1 Sack
Chad Greenway - 1 Sack
Charles Woodson - 1 INT
Terence Newman - 1 INT
Antoine Winfield - 1 FF, 1 FR
Tyrell Johnson - 1 FR

Just got caught up on the last few games I missed. 50 rushin' attempts by Peterson to get that record. That's true workhorse shit.

Minnesota Loses Peterson and Arden
Comes Back on Lions 30-27

10-NFL-Wk3-Lions-Vikings-016.jpg

T
he Minnesota Vikings lost both starting running-back Adrian Peterson and starting quarterback Colby Arden this Sunday against the Detroit Lions. Even despite this, coming into a 6-24 deficit at the beginning of the 4th Quarter, backup QB Ryan Fitzpatrick and third-string running back Maurice Hicks showed flashes of talent as the Detroit defense fell apart late in the game to give up 24 4th Quarter points. Colby Arden went out of the game with an ACL sprain, and both Chester Taylor and Adrian Peterson have been injured and are expected to miss time.

On the receiving side of the offense, Bernard Berrian and Nate Burleson each caught a touchdown, Burleson a 50+ yard catch from Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Nate Burleson a 12 yard pass from Colby Arden. The offense finished the day with a grand total of 571 Yards. Most surprisingly is the fact that both the Lions and Vikings combined for 1,140 yards, 2nd All-Time behind the Vikings and Packers playoff thriller this year.

Defensively, Chad Greenway led the team in sacks, by getting at Lions' 2nd Year QB Chevon Cottrell twice. The team as a whole sacked Cottrell a total of 7 times. Charles Woodson brings his season total to 8; Charles Woodson is on pace to have at least 18 interceptions, which would be easily a single season record and then some.

The Minnesota Vikings move on to 6-0, but their next challenge will be to see if Colby Arden is available for next week.

Passing:
Colby Arden - 14/24, 174 Yards, 1 TD, 1 INT
Ryan Fitzpatrick - 5/19, 97 Yards, 1 TD, 1 INT

Rushing:
Maurice Hicks - 22, 175 Yards, 1 TD
Adrian Peterson - 9, 47 Yards
Chester Taylor - 8, 33 Yards

Receiving:
Bernard Berrian - 5, 96 Yards, 1 TD
Nate Burleson - 3, 36 Yards, 1 TD

Defense:
Chad Greenway - 2 Sack
Ray Edwards - 1 Sack
Kevin Williams - 1 Sack
Jermaine King* - 1 Sack
Jared Allen - 1 Sack
Pat Williams - 1 Sack
Charles Woodson - 1 INT

I ain't worried, we scored 24 in the 4th despite these injuries.
