A Tale of Two Quarterbacks Vikings Come Back on Bears, 27-31 Without starting quarterback Colby Arden, and running-back duo Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor, the Minnesota Vikings appeared doomed after the first half following four back-breaking interceptions by back-up quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. Down 20-8 in the second half, Fitzpatrick was benched for former New York Giants backup quarterback Jared Lorenzen. Lorenzen lead the team to a comeback of 16 unanswered points en route to an incredible 27-31 victory to keep the undefeated season alive. Lorenzen ended the day 12/18 for 203 yards and a touchdown. Ryan Fitzpatrick in the first half was 9/24 for 194 yards, a single touchdown to Bernard Berrian, and 4 interceptions, including a Pick 6. Thomas Tapeh led the team in yards with 85 yards of 23 rushes. Maurice Hicks and (most surprisingly of all) Vikings kicker Josh Brown each ran for touchdowns, and fumbled once apiece (the rushing corps depleted heavily). Bernard Berrian once again had a MVP-like performance with 8 catches for 219 yards and two touchdowns, one from each quarterback. On defense, Jake Delhomme had zero answers for the Minnesota Vikings as he was sacked thrice, threw three interceptions, and fumbled once. Charles Woodson hauled in two of the three interceptions, and now has 10 interceptions. Four more interceptions and Woodson ties the all-time single-season record for interceptions. Chris Henry, wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings, had the most exciting play of the game in the third quarter; forcing a fumble during a Chicago kickoff return, and recovering the fumble at the two yard-line, which led to the Maurice Hicks rushing touchdown. Minnesota is now 7-0, and with three more wins, officially locks in their playoff berth. The defending Super Bowl champions are extremely confident despite the injuries piling up on the team; Jermaine King, rookie linebacker, is expected to be out for three weeks with an ACL sprain. |

Super Bowl Rematch? Could There Be First Ever "18-0 Bowl"? The Minnesota Vikings and Tennessee Titans remain the only two undefeated teams in the NFL thus far, halfway into the season. It is no coincidence that these two teams faced one another in Super Bowl XLIV; it appears that the Titans and Vikings are on a collision course for Super Bowl XLV. Should the two teams remain undefeated and make it into the Super Bowl, it would be the first time two undefeated teams ever faced one another in the Super Bowl. While the chances of this happening are slim to none, it would arguably be the most hyped game in NFL history since the "Manning Super Bowl" two years ago. |
Packers Ruin Perfect Season, Beat Vikings in Overtime 26-20 The Minnesota Vikings looked to come home after a bye week on Sunday versus hated rival the Green Bay Packers, but fell victim to the injury bug to both returning starters Colby Arden and Adrian Peterson. Peterson was knocked out of the game after only three rushing attempts. Colby Arden suffered a major head injury during the game and in came backup Jared Lorenzen, who won the backup position over Ryan Fitzpatrick. The Green Bay defense turned out to be too much for the former New York Giant backup, as he threw four grueling interceptions, his last being a pick six in overtime. Lorenzen ended the day 13/36 with 112 yards and a touchdown in addition to four interceptions. Chester Taylor played a herculean effort but merely ended up with 71 yards on 27 rushes. Bernard Berrian hauled in the lone offensive touchdown for the Minnesota Vikings. Nate Burleson returned a kick-off 100 yards to the house for a touchdown to aid the Minnesota Vikings offense, which was struggling mightily. On defense, former Vikings QB and man with a chip on his shoulder, David Garrard, was sacked 10 times, twice by four separate players. He also threw an interception right into the hands of Terence Newman. The Minnesota Vikings defense also happened to force three fumbles on the hapless Green Bay defense. Josh Brown was perfect on the day, but unfortunately it was not enough to save the game. The Minnesota Vikings move to 7-1, officially ending their bid for a perfect season. Even worse, is the breaking news of the extent of Quarterback Colby Arden: a broken jaw. This will officially end Colby Arden's season with the Minnesota Vikings, and even worse, will place the brunt of the Vikings offensive success on running-back Adrian Peterson, whom has been struggling to come back from injury recently. |

Vikings Sign QB Alex Smith The Minnesota Vikings have appeared to make a desperation gamble for their season, as they have officially announced the signing of former San Francisco 49er Quarterback Alex Smith to potentially start as soon as next week. The Minnesota Vikings lost last year's Rookie of the Year Colby Arden to a broken jaw during the Green Bay Packers overtime loss, and now look to keep their fragile lead on the NFC North stable. |
