Vikings Beat Packers in Tale of Two Halves, 17-22

Green+Bay+Packers+v+Minnesota+Vikings+3tRVbGytSccx.jpg
The Minnesota Vikings further their win streak to five games after an unexpectedly rough and ugly game against hated rival Green Bay. The story of the game was threefold, as the Minnesota Vikings, now the #1 seeded team in the NFC, looked to continue their domination. The other two stories involved former players of each other team. David Garrard, now Quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, was traded in Week 6 this year for Cornerback Charles Woodson. Woodson said he was excited to play his former team this year and was looking forward to seeing what he could do against guys like Greg Jennings and Jordy Nelson. David Garrard was focused, and wanted to make a statement that Minnesota messed up by starting Colby Arden over him and then trading him to the Packers. The Packers ended up making a statement indeed, having a 7-0 lead in the first half and by the end of the day, David Garrard threw for 399 Yards and 2 TDs.

The second half is when the switch flipped for the Minnesota Vikings, and after having only 68 total yards in the first half, went wild. Colby Arden only threw 19 completed passes out of 47 throws, but threw two touchdowns and 1 interception on top of 246 yards, as well as a fumble. Adrian Peterson made a costly fumble that allowed the Packers to score late in the 4th Quarter, but rushed 36 times for 93 yards. The floodgates opened when Bernard Berrian got loose for a 71 yard receiving touchdown to the house, bringing his totals on the day to 5 receptions for 122 yards and a TD. Jermichael Finley caught the second touchdown pass at the goal-line to bring the Vikings ahead.

Defensively, despite no interceptions, the Defensive Line managed to sack David Garrard six times. Mike Doss also forced a fumble, which he picked up. Chad Greenway was also responsible for a safety on David Garrard. The Minnesota Vikings move to 8-1 and remain the #1 seeded team in the NFC. Time will tell, but the Minnesota Vikings require only five more victories in order to clinch the still hotly contested NFC North.

Vikings Defeat 49ers 27-37

ows_147036296952741.jpg

The Minnesota Vikings continue their domination with a 10-point victory over the 3-6 San Francisco 49ers at home, 27-37. Colby Arden had another pedestrian game, going 16/26 for 256 Yards and a single touchdown. Adrian Peterson carried the load for the Vikings, rushing 37 times for 123 yards and a whopping three touchdowns. Bernard Berrian hauled in 4 catches for 123 yards, and Sidney Rice caught Colby Arden's lone touchdown on the day.

Defensively, the Vikings feasted on 49ers QB Alex Smith. Smith was sacked 3 times and threw a singular lopsided interception to Madieu Williams. The defense also forced and recovered a fumble by running back Frank Gore. E.J. Henderson also had a great game, making 11 tackles and 4 of them being tackle-for-losses. Josh Brown continues his near perfection as a kicker as well.

The Minnesota Vikings remain the #1 seeded team in the NFC.

Vikings Beat Lions 41-21

Detroit+Lions+v+Minnesota+Vikings+lOETS1xEuURx.jpg

The Minnesota Vikings went to Detroit for the second game against the Lions this season and disappointed the large crowd by teasing a high octane game early in the 2nd quarter. The house of cards came tumbling down shortly thereafter as the three headed monster of an offense struck down the Lions' defense. The Lions on offense were even more shambolic, converting only 3 of 14 third downs. Colby Arden showed his MVP potential as he completed 24 of 39 passes for 394 yards and three touchdowns. Adrian Peterson had yet another 100+ yard game as he rushed 43 times for 135 yards and two touchdowns. His fumbling problems came into play as well as two unsightly fumbles occurred in Peterson's hand. Bernard Berrian and Sidney Rice both went over 100 yards this game as well.

Defensively, the Vikings once again showed why they are one of the most dangerous defenses in all the league, bending, but refusing to break. Despite WR Calvin Johnson catching all over the defense for three touchdowns and 235 yards, Lions QB Chevon Cottrell (a first round rookie in the 2009 NFL Draft) had a rough game. He was sacked five times and threw two interceptions on rout to the loss to the Vikings. Charles Woodson hauled in one of the interceptions and very nearly took it to the house for a Pick 6.

The Vikings remain as the #1 seeded team in the NFC and are officially the best team in the NFL after the Tennessee Titans fell to the 6-4 New York Jets. The Vikings need merely 4 more wins, or alternatively, 3 wins and a Green Bay loss, to clinch the NFC North and punch their tickets to the playoffs.

Vikings Decimate Browns 10-48

adrian-peterson-of-the-minnesota-vikings-is-hit-by-dqwell-jackson-of-picture-id90704752

The Minnesota Vikings defeated the Cleveland Browns 10-48 yesterday in a dominant game that saw Adrian Peterson dominate the day for 195 yards and two touchdowns. Chester Taylor got in on the game as well, rushing 17 times for 44 yards and two touchdowns as well. Colby Arden had a perfect game, throwing 12/13 for 285 Yards and 2 Touchdowns. Browns' quarterback Derek Anderson threw an interception and a mere 190 yards off 16 completions.

Defensively, the Vikings remained as dominant as ever. Six separate players got at least one sack on Anderson, and E.J. Henderson made the lone interception on Anderson. Cedric Griffin and Mike Doss forced a fumble respectively and Doss recovered one fumble from Cleveland Running Back Jamal Lewis.

The Vikings move to 11-1, #1 seed in the NFC; with the Green Bay Packers losing to the Chicago Bears this week, the Minnesota Vikings require one more win to clinch the NFC North title.
