- Over this past weekend, WWE star CM Punk had an interesting Twitter exchange with NFL player Shawne Merriman.

To begin with, Punk wrote: "Watching Shawne Merriman of the buffalo bills hit on our divas and strike out, reminds me of the Bills in the Super Bowl." He added "choke" as the tag.

Merriman hit back on Twitter: "I was just giving you guys some hope look like you were struggling by the pool," Merriman wrote. "Sympathy from Lights"

Punk came back: "If you could get to a QB as fast as you ran after our divas maybe you'd make headlines being a pro bowler and not a creep."

Merriman added: "How about I come and deliver a nice special lightsOut ass woopin tonight Costa Rican Style."

Punk's final Tweet on the matter: "Clearly, I have defeated you. However, You will have plenty of time to think of a better come back while you ride the bench for another entire season. Good luck getting to the Super Bowl! With love, CM Punk.

Merriman finished things off by saying: "Do me a favor turn your little wrestling underwear around and give yourself a wedge - see you later Punk without the CM."

As previously reported, former WWE superstar Shelton Benjamin made a surprise appearance prior to Tuesday's SmackDown tapings from Houston, Texas. Benjamin defeated Curt Hawkins in a dark match that got solid reviews from fans in attendence. Benjamin reportedly received a good reaction from his hometown crowd.

Following the match, Benjamin wrote on Twitter:

@Sheltyb803: "just got home from a completely unexpected day. Got to see some friends i haven't seen in awhile. The WWE FANS.

Sheltyb803 "for now all i can say is i may or may not be returning to wwe, but tonight was a good time."

Benjamin was released from WWE last April after a 10-year run with the company that included 3 Intercontinental title reigns, two WWE tag title reigns and a United States title reign.

Interesting that he had a dark match. Isn't he still with ROH?

Would make a useful addition to the midcard again, but I don't think I could handle all the Shelton marks again going crazy about how he should be pushed to the main event and win the title. Bring him back and pair him with Morrison, they're virtually the same barring skin colour.
