WWF European Championship: Al Snow vs. Christian
This was set up on Sunday Night Heat because Christian was being the dick heel he was and making fun of the fans, Snow too offense to this and challenged him. A pretty solid opener the near-fall at the end made this a lot better than it should have been. **1/4
Team Alliance questions Austin about the end of SD when he and Vince smiled at watch other, so Austin yells at them to stop being so paranoid and to get out.
Vince McMahon is with Linda McMahon who is nervous about the stakes tonight and fears someone could get hurt. A nervous Michael Cole comes up and asks him about the possibility of the WWF ending tonight. McMahon cools his fears by saying “Shit happens†and alludes that someone on the Alliance team is in fact a WWF plant to end the Alliance. But William Regal is here and he says he's not buying Vince's hogwash that Stone Cold is turning on the Alliance. Regal says he knows Austin is loyal to them and that he'll do to Tajiri what Austin is going to do to the fed. Vince says “Shit happensâ€
William Regal vs. Tajiri
For 3 minutes this was pretty great for a squash match, but it was also very stiff and Regal’s nose is busted open early on. The finish was pretty great as Tajiri reverses a Double Armed Powerbomb into a Japanese Armdrag. Regal ducks a Deathblow kick. Then Headbutt to the midsection of Tajiri. Tajiri avoids another Double Underhook Powerbomb, but Regal counters Tajiri into the Butterfly Regal Bomb for three. Post-Match: Regal hits another butterfly bomb. Tori comes out to check on Tajiri so Regal butterfly bombs her as well. **
Test gets oiled up and hits on Stacy Keibler. And she didn't seem to mind, UGH!
Championship Unification Match: WCW U.S. Champion Edge vs. WWF Intercontinental Champion Test
This was shockingly good they just seemed to click here. They packed a lot of action into it; and I really enjoyed some nice near falls off an Edge-O-Matic and a spear and Pumphandle slam by Test. The closing moments were really good and they definitely bumped the grade up. **3/4
In the back, Stephanie complains to Kurt that if they lose, she'll have to become a regular person and do her own grocery shopping. Kurt says that won't happen, and he believes Austin is on the side of the Alliance. Elsewhere, Lita asks Jeff Hardy what the deal is with Matt Hardy because he's been acting funny. Matt comes out of the locker room and explains he's just stressed about the whole "being out of a job" thing. Lita accepts that explanation until Trish Stratus comes out of the same locker room. WHAT?
Championship Unification Match inside a Steel Cage: WCW Tag Team Champions the Dudley Boyz (w/Stacy Keibler) vs. WWF Tag Team Champions The Hardy Boyz
The match was pretty good but it's was nothing we haven’t seen a million times before, and was pretty dull when the Dudleyz were on offense. The finish was cool as Matt climbs out of the cage which leaves Jeff alone in a 2-on-1 with Bubba and Devon he somehow gets some offense in (I should add that there is a table in the ring because Stacy flashed her ass toward the “GREAT†Nick Patrick then she stole the key to the cage out his pocket, lol) Anyway yeah as Jeff is climbing the cage he knocks Devon onto the table and Jeff being Jeff decides not to escape and thus win the match, electing instead to try a Swanton off the top of a cage onto the table, But Devon moves and Bubba covers for the 3 count. Jeff’s SCREW UP! This would up breaking the Hardyz up (briefly) as Matt went heel despite Jeff being the selfish one. But I think they ended up reuniting because Taker would kill these kids on a weekly basis and then BROCK! Would do the same thing, but don't worry Matt fans V1'ah would happen. *** - ***1/4
Commissioner Foley is at WWF New York, He says as much as he wants to be in Greensburo, he was ordered here by Vince, he then says the commissionership is a joke. He then says if the WWF wins, he'll be in Charlotte, North Carolina tomorrow to talk to Vince.
Scotty 2 Hotty is running stairs. Test asks him if he's in the Immunity Battle Royale. Scotty says yeah, so Test takes him out and decides to takes his place in the Battle Royal; I wonder who is winning the Battle Royal then
Immunity Battle Royal
The winner of this gets immunity from being fired for a year despite either The Alliance or WWF going under. I really don't feel like listing everyone but you can imagine it's full of mid/lower card and jobbers. As you know I don't really rate Rumbles/Battle Royals as they basically have no structure, storytelling, psychology and it's just a bunch of guys holding the other on the ropes, only maybe 3 rumble/battle royal matches has ever had those things I listed 1. 2004 Rumble, 2. 1992, 3. 2001 Rumble and the final 4 of the 2007 Rumble. Anyway that's for another time this match had no meaningful interactions in the whole thing, so this barely even registers, but as a way of trying to maintain Test's push and position on the card.
Booker T tells Shane McMahon that he doesn’t trust Steve Austin. Shane tells him not worry and they must work as a team if they want to win.
The Creed "MY SCARFICE" Video airs
Six Pack Challenge for the "Vacant" WWF Women's Championship: Trish Stratus vs. Jacqueline vs. Lita vs. Ivory vs. Mighty Molly Holly vs. Jazz
Trish's hot pink booty shorts, DAMN! This is Jazz’s debut in the WWF. Jesus this match was sloppy; I'm surprised they gave the belt to Trish as she was so green at this point but bless her heart she tried so hard, and thankfully she grew and developed into a hell of a wrestler as the years would go by. Jazz was pretty AWESOME in this and the booking helped her looked strong. 3/4*
Vince gives Team WWF an amazing pep talk He has every confidence in them but he realizes he could be looking at a group of losers. If so, there isn’t one WWF fan that would forgive them; they will also be disgraced. Vince goes through all of the greats and says that they would be also disgraced. He tells them to disregard the rumors that Steve Austin will rejoin the WWF. He says that they honor the WWF tonight.
Another AMAZING video package airs before the main event.
Classic Survivor Series Match: Team WWF (The Rock, Chris Jericho, The Undertaker, Kane & The Big Show) vs. The Alliance (Stone Cold Steve Austin, Kurt Angle, Booker T, Rob Van Dam & Shane McMahon)
Austin is the WWF Champion, RVD is the Hardcore Champion and the Rock is the WCW Champion, so I guess because they are champions their jobs are safe. I think? IDK! The first 5/7 minutes were cool and then we get to the Show and Simba eliminations which were hilarious. Show gets a hot tag an starts tearing shit up until Kurt hits the Olympic Slam, Booker T tags and hits the axe kick (plus Spin-a-Roonie), RVD hits a Five-Star Frogsplash and Shane FINALLY gets in after breaking up pins non-stop in the first 10 minutes, and hits the Flying Elbow to eliminate Show. Simba starts dancing like a BOSS and he finally stops when he realizes he's in the ring with The Rock, Rocky kicks the ever loving shit out of Shane in the corner and tags in Kane who chokeslams him. Kane then tags in his brother and he gives Shane, who is dead, the Tombstone… now Shane’s kids are dead as well; Jericho tags in and shows mercy by pinning him after a Lionsault. Shane McMahon is ELIMINATED. AWESOME! Anyway things begin to settle down then Booker interferes from the apron so Kane drags him into the ring. RVD uses the distraction to hit a side kick and the Five-Star Frogsplash; he takes a moment too long to recover before going for the pinfall and Kane goozles him. Booker T comes out of nowhere with a spin kick, everyone runs in for a huge brawl, and in the confusion RVD mounts the buckles and ELIMINATES Kane after a leaping side kick. Then like 2 minutes later it Taker hits closelines in the corner to all four Alliance members. Snake Eyes and then Closeline to Angle. Taker calls for the Last Ride. Last Ride connects, but Booker comes in the ring with a chair. The distraction allows Austin to hit the Stunner on Taker. Austin drags Angle onto Taker eliminating him. Which leaves Chris Jericho & The Rock vs. Steve Austin, Kurt Angle, RVD & Booker T. Alliance members have a good heat segment on The Rock before explodes with a DDT forcing Angle to make the save. Y2J is still hurting in the WWF corner; Booker tries the axe kick but the Rock counters into a Samoan drop and this time Austin makes the save. Booker gets a whip reversed and crashes into Angle on the apron; the Rock schoolboys the befuddled Booker and gets a three to ELIMINATE him. RVD gets in the match and Jericho tagged in. Jericho hits a running swinging neckbreaker and then chops in the corner. He spikes RVD with a bulldog but misses the Lionsault; he lands on his feet thought but takes a spin kick. Van Dam hits the split-legged; which allows Jericho to hit him with the Breakdown and ELIMINATES RVD. Now we're down to Steve Austin & Kurt Angel vs. Chris Jericho & The Rock. Angle pairs off with Jericho as Stone Cold and the Rock fight on the floor. Austin posts the Rock on the floor via slingshot and back in the ring. Moments later Austin tries to run interference but Rock smacks him in the face he then hits Angel with the Dragon Screws Kurt into the Sharpshooter Kurt tap and he's ELIMINATED. Jericho goes to Lionsault Austin but he gets the knees up! Austin tries another top-rope superplex again but Jericho pushes him off and hits a missile dropkick for a nearfall. Jericho tries a schoolboy, which is reversed by Austin, and Chris Jericho is ELIMINATED. Now down to ROCK vs. AUSTIN! but Jericho is so frustrated that he was eliminated that he nails the Rock with the Breakdown before he takes his leave, because he is an egomaniac and hates the Rock. HEEL TURN! Anyway they do some entertaining bawling until Austin gets a low blow in and tries a Stunner but the Rock reverses and hits a Rock Stunner! WWF referee Earl Hebner makes the count but Alliance referee Nick Patrick pulls him out and nails him. The Rock notices Patrick in the ring and looks to Rock Bottom him. Austin saves and hits a Rock Bottom… but it gets two! Austin glares at Patrick and question his count so Austin nails him and drags Hebner back in. The Rock tosses Austin into Hebner and tries Rock Bottom but Austin reverses into a Stunner! No referee. Kurt Angle runs back down and… NAILS AUSTIN WITH THE WWF BELT! The Rock plants him with Rock Bottom and the referee crawls to the pinfall and the Rock gets three. Post-match, the WWF locker room celebrates and the Alliance locker room is in SHOCK! Jim Ross rubs it into Heyman on commentary as the Rock celebrates. Vince McMahon comes out and celebrates on the ramp. ****1/2
Overall: 6/10
The next night, most things would go back to where they were before the WCW/ECW invasion. Vince would turn heel and fire Foley. William Regal would join the Kiss My Ass club and be reinstated. Heyman was out. Lawler was back in. Austin was the rebel babyface again. Angle turned was turned heel for helping the WWF for being a mole. So I guess Jericho being in full BLOWN HEEL! is the only thing that changed? Man the Invasion story was a mess. But at least Flair was the GM. WOOOOOOOOO!
