They have a snowballs chance in hell too. If I was doing percentagesI know you're like the most biased Laker fan and all but I didn't think even you would be that blinded to say the Lakers got a better chance than OKC and the Spurs.
Memphis - 80
Clips - 5
SA - 5
OKC - 5
Houston - 3
Lakers - 1
Mavs - 1
Everyone else - 0
I really believe Memphis has the west as theirs to lose. No team has a better big tandem. No team has a better two way pg out west as Conely is a defensive beast who has found his own O. And no team has that level of wing D.m
The Clips have RS bigs and a RS pg who gets his ass kicked every postseason of his career by Billups, Parker, and Conley basically negated his impact all together. I don't think they are a title team without flipping DJ or getting a wing scorer. CP3 ain't taking over a whole series, he's not logging 40mpg in a best of a 7 while dropping 25-30 like Isiah, and he's not Kidd or Payton or Stockton on D which is why PGs usually put up better numbers every playoff series vs him.
The Spurs as I said couldn't make back to back finals with youth and primes/peak of Tim and Manu on their side. They got burned out and fell apart back when their guys were better equipped. They aren't Kobe/Shaq, Wade/Bron/Bosh, Kobe/Pau/Lamar, MJ/Scottie, Hakeem, Showtime, or Boston mentally or physically. Its as improbable as the Bobcats making the playoffs short of them shocking the world and flipping Manu for an elite talent who will carry them
Okc just fell a part. How the hell it happened I don't know, but it did. Years ago I would've picks them to come out the west for 3-4 years. Their FO fucked up. The perk trade. Not amnestying perk to keep Harden. Not retaining Martin. Perk is without a doubt the worst starting C in the west. Ibaka getting that extension is a mistake over paying Harden, when Ibaka got his lunch money took by Memphis, SA (even when they made the finals) and Bosh. I just don't see it unless you think Lamb, Jackson, Jones are the second comings of Harden, Maynor, and Green and just needed their shots. And Westbrook to top it off is coming of two surgeries on a knee wishin a 3-4 month span, so he can be off.
Rockets need a PF short of small ball working with Lin, Beverly, Harden, and Prsons. No way in hell they win a series playing Asik and Dwight together, its a free throw and pace nitemare
Mavs and Lakers have one thing going for them, they've done it before. Like it or not, they've done it before out the fucking blue. Dallas when they won got hot at the right time and just started dropping threes when it came to their role guys, while Marion defended his ass off, and Dirk was a legend. The Lakers in 08 when the whole will kobe be dealt thing was in the air werent even picked to make the playoffs even with Kobe, yet they had the number 1 record out west before Pau ever came there, and Pau and Kobe just meshed while a youth filled bench no one expected to be good helped them make a finals run, so if Kobe gets hot and Pau/Nash have reasonable health and near their career averages they have a shot. There's something about having done it before and having true superstars who can take over a series with incredible scoring bursts that the Lakers and Mavs have if their stars align.
Lets be clear. I never said the Lakers had more of a shot than the Clips, OKC, or SA. I said they have about an equal shot of been eliminated the same round as the Clips like the past two seasons. I'd put money on Memphis over everyone else short of their coach just being a fuck up.
And fuck the Denver hype, they can't score in a half court setting. Same for GSW as no Iggy team can rely on him when the game slows and its time to get half court buckets over a series. Throw in the fact Utah sucks and Minny and Portland have more dnp injuries than any other team energy year, and that's way I'm steering out west
