Here's the Fight Night Bonuses

Tito Ortiz and Forrest Griffin engaged in another three-round war Saturday night in the co-main event of UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen II. For their efforts, the two were awarded the Fight of the Night and an additional $75,000.

Anderson Silva, who defended his UFC middleweight title with a second round victory over Chael Sonnen, was given the Knockout of the Night honors. "The Spider" was also awarded $75,000.

There was no Submission of the Night handed out.

His hand wasn't down, but that call is too tough really. First of all, after looking up the rules, I suppose I'll have to concede that he is grounded since according to the Nevada Athletic Commission a grounded opponent is any opponent who has more than just the soles of his feet touching the ground. Furthermore, if the opponent is only being held up by the cage or ropes, he is still grounded. So Sonnen is down, but look at the knee. Silva's knee hits Sonnen below his face square in the chest and that's perfectly legal. Watching it on the PPV, it looked like it hit Sonnen in the face, but it was definitely his chest. Silva won cause simply put, he's the better fighter.

I never said it wasn't a legal knee, it definitely was, just letting you know he was grounded.

Glad Ortiz/Griffin got FOTN; that fight was awesome and I hate Ortiz.

They did get FOTN

Sonnen is being so humble, it's weird.

Yeah, Sonnen being so humble so weird.. Who would have thought he was just playing the heel all along to draw interest in both him and the fight. :side:

Everyone surprised fell for his work. You're all marks :D

Hell it was a great work to sell. I still think he's a prick he's just been beaten and I bet he'll be back to his old ways.

lol rigged bonuses.

Chad Mendes should of got KOOTN.

Shame how Tito waited till the 'last' fight of his career to actually bring it too, was a great fight and wish he'd of been like that more often the last 5yrs.

I was pretty disappointed in the event. Lots of boring fights and Sonnen/Silva didn't last long at all. I actually thought Nurmagomedov/Tibau deserved FOTN, but whatever. Griffen/Ortiz was decent I guess.

Pretty let-down by Sonnen's performance in the 2nd round as well.

Just randomly thinking, GSP vs. Jake Shields broke a record for the largest UFC event in history. I know it's not the same, but maybe a Silva vs. Jake Shields fight could end up with the same result, Jake is back up to Middleweight now and could make a case for a title shot with a few good wins.
