Feel how you want to feel about Marty Scurll, but to clear up a few things. The incident took place in 2015. They both worked a IPW event and met at a bar later where they both had been drinking. They fooled around outside her hotel room, but they didn’t actually have sex nor was he her trainer. He’s basically relegated to working Puerto Rico these days.

In retrospect you can say thank god we dodged that bullet, but it was still a mistake in 2019 not to put the belt on him.

But, yeah, Taven was certainly a better choice with hindsight considering he’s having bangers in AEW and knock on wood not being accused of things outside his name.

While we’re here, I feel like the name Dan Edler should be said more because he was the guy that was actually training her and ran the place where it took place and she actually accused him of full on raping her the entire time, and I feel like that guy‘s name doesn’t get blasted enough because that guy was a full on scumbag.

The Sinclair purchase ultimately killed ROH, it ended up stunting its growth at the time where #2 was there for the taking and WWE was sliding badly

Yes, and no. Ultimately they gave up on it, but they actually reached their highest peak ever under Sinclair.

Sinclair’s main problem was they were a content with not expanding because all they wanted was cheap content for their television stations. Because if they had locked down the bucks and the elite with dual contracts, they had asked for with New Japan and split the money with them and aggressively expanded their markets in 2018 like everybody was saying they should because they were white hot in 2018. There’s a strong chance there would be no AEW and Ring of Honor would not be as high as AEW is doing right now but certainly be the number two promotion in the country.

Imagine the reality where instead Tony just bought ROH from the start rather than forming AEW.

I see parallels between Sinlcair and Anthem now

I’ve been saying this from the start. I don’t know why he didn’t.

Sure starting fresh sounds good and probably helped a bit, but man ROH had the history and the talent already. All you’d need is to fill out the rest like he did with AEW and convince WB to debut ROH Dynamite. Probably a harder pitch, but considering AEW only had two PPVs when that deal happened, I feel like they gambled on Tony more than anything. I feel Tony would have still made it happen.

Anthem buying TNA could have very well saved them as Sinclair was very helpful with ROH for awhile. But when costs need to be cut, they never have any semblance of how to make those cuts and where they'd be the most efficient. S

I thought it's said he tried and got turned down. WWE as well. Sinclair wasn't looking to sell until they had that data breach right before ROH went dark from what I understand

I’ve never heard that. I’ll have to look into it.

I do believe Sinclair might have said that though. They were quite content with how ROH was doing for the longest time. When you own the channel and the wrestling, you only really need the bare minimum because it’s just cheap content at that point.

Look at these million dollar deals to buy even NXT at this stage. WB would kill to buy either NXT or AEW or both to have that content much cheaper.

I'd really like to see a BTB where this happens

It would be a great idea because then there wouldn’t have that exodus of talent at the end of 2018. You could could theoretically then show what Supercard 2019 would have looked like if AEW never existed.

It’ll be weird to navigate between continuing what ROH had been doing while also trying to sprinkle in elements of what AEW would have been since Tony would still be the Booker and presumably ROH would pick up the new guys AEW did that weren’t already in ROH.

I don’t believe there’s a such thing as a midcarder. Your position is wherever the booker puts you. A talent could be only seen as midcard in one place and main event in another. It’s all subjective, but I feel the problem is people refuse to let talent evolve. Not everyone is a main event player right out of the gate.
