It's amazing how quickly WON's reputation for accuracy has fallen now

Dave doesn't even care enough to watch TNA unless Willy O is on it
I think his sources have dried up and/or are less reliable than before from what I have seen - he's doing more guess work and what ifs than ever too

just like " AEW's lockeroom morale has improved greatly as reported by SRS but it's likely some will be unhappy due to their booking etc" like what lol

I would have trusted Dreamer more than those anthem guys having final say on content and creative decisions, to be honest.

At least Evans and Delirious are still helping creative. ROH didn’t bat a thousand, but at least their creative mostly made sense.

Observer seems to be just taking anything and running with it.

If Delirious is on the team, the great news. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything bad about him from a creative perspective.

Couldn’t tell you the last time I watched TNA but I can tell you Tommy Dreamer isn’t the guy that should be having sole creative control and responsibility

Yes, but he’s also the same guy that booked a lot of the stuff that people liked. He was there as the Booker for the vast majority of the last I want to say 10 years or so. I agree that he should’ve put the belt on Marty Scurll, because he was the most over guy in the company at the time, especially once the elite had left that’s what they needed but Matt Taven was not the worst choice either. PCO a year later comes to mind. My goodness. He was finally coming to his own as a character. He was leading his own new version of the kingdom. And he had genuine heat. Don’t let any of these weirdos try to tell you that Matt Taven didn’t generate heat at that time because he did. The only problem is is that people are fickle and they get this weird idea that if they see you as a midcard now you can’t ever escape it. It’s the same shit people were saying about Jeff Jarrett, even though he’s a 10-time world champion and some people still say about Cody Rhodes today. People also try to claim the Cody Rhodes should be world champions since he’s a Midcard guy.

I agree that Delirious didn’t get that the fans wanted Scurll, though, and since the elite guys were gone, the goodwill of the fans was broken and they couldn’t support a different direction so he set Taven up to fail. But, I’m glad people are finally putting respect on his name.

fwiw I was only bringing that up in reponse to Cwalker saying he had never heard anything bad about his booking - so it was a good example

I wasn't trying to imply Delirious only booked crap

he booked Dalton to win the title and I love that - Rush was a good choice too - not booking Brody to win the title was a miss. like most bookers it's a mixed bag with strengths and weaknesses

I think their biggest mistake was at the end there they were grooming Marty to take over as the booker and for some reason they didn’t want to put the belt on Marty or Brody and it hurt them both and the company. It’s a shame honestly. And then I didn’t even pay off anyway because of the Covid and shit.

I feel like the biggest mistake that he and ROH had was not being able to read the room. Because I can see where he was coming from. As far as swerving the expectation, putting the belt on Taven build up a great heal, and then you can have a babyface Chase, because money is generally in the babyface Chase. But they didn’t even have Marty Scurll beat Taven for the belt anyway. But like I was saying the biggest problem is, they didn’t read the room. Supercard 2019 was built on the success they had with the bullet club and The Elite, and then they weren’t even there so you already had the fan’s goodwill teetering, and all you had to do to reassure them that you were still going to be the show they wanted to watch was put the belt on the one guy from the elite that was still there.

I think the timing was really the main issue with Taven from what I understand. They had this big show at Madison Square Garden on the biggest stage of their company's history. Putting the belt on a mid carder pinched in between okada vs jay white and ibushi vs naito made them look kind of like lil league. it wasn't Taven's fault, it just was not the event to do it. And unfortunately for Taven, he was unfairly blamed for ROH overall shitting the bed and basically killing the roh njpw partnership.

I don't think Taven as world champion is offensive by itself, the context of how it happened I think was the dick kick that made ppl sour

this too - Bullet Club were WHITE HOT as were the elite - this was just not the time to take a risk on Taven
