Re: NBA Regular Season Discussion Thread

Billups, Nash, and Baron in a 3 way deal perhaps. Baron goes to Phoenix, Nash goes to Denver to try and get Melo to stay, and Billups gets bought out by Sterling. :perv:

Arenas isn't as bad as Duhon or VC on that end as he will likely split time at PG and SG with Reddick getting some run. J-Rich is a better defender than Q and VC at SG and SF. He isn't better than Pietrius, granted. Turk is better at everything on the floor than Lewis and Q combined at any spot.

They need a backup C, but at the end of the day their perimeter defense is in no way worse with Hedo and Richardson starting over Lewis and Carter, or with Gilbert off the bench for that matter. Plus Orlando runs a matchup zone with Dwight manning the middle so if anything they will just pack the paint and make Lebron shoot like they did in the ECF when he only made 2 jumpshots in one game.

I don't even like having to defend Gilbert and those guys that much, but in no way are they that much worse defensively on the perimeter now.
From you suggesting last year that they should get T-Mac to now Baron you seem to want to see the Suns become lets fix your broken down ass clinic.

Q is pretty good, but he can't harass SGs after that back injury anymore.

Re: NBA Regular Season Discussion Thread

Q is a pretty good defender ^

Richardson & Hedo are capable defenders, though. They're better than Vince & Lewis. Pietrus was the best defender, but Q will step into his role as defender/3 point man and do what he did fine. Q's an above-average defender, if you weren't aware.

Quinton is fine defensively, I don't know, I feel like Gilbert is terrible defensively and J-Rich is pretty bad as well. And Hedo is better then Shard, I just don't think these trades did really anything to put them in better position then the Heat or Celtics.

I was actually shocked Otis just didn't go for a 3/4 season rental of Melo.

Speaking of Q, he started to go back into the post more this season. I was pleased.

It worked for Nash, Shaq, and Hill

Baron has the best chance of any non-Nash PG in recreating that system and excelling in it and we both know it from watching him play Nellie Ball in Golden State.

Nick Young is doing Miami dirty.

Baller you really have no room to talk about perimeter D since Wade and Lebron aren't above average one on one defenders themselves. They excel at team and help defense but can be toyed with one on one by guys like Kobe, Pierce, Manu, and Melo (all of those 4 are better one on one defenders to boot).

It is also nice to Josh Howard back playing

This is probably true but I can only really recall a few years where he wasn't hurt so I don't know. Guess it would be the best they could do but I still say let Nash retire a Sun (if possible)

So, deny him any chance of ever winning or being on a contending team after everything he has done for Phoenix?

 That's extremely inaccurate. Wade and Lebron are definitely above average. I had a feeling tonight would be a sluggish game for the Heat, I actually hope they lose so we don't take anybody lightly after this game.

And please say my current username and not my old one please :)

I really like Nash I do, but if he won a championship elsewhere that would piss me off more than me being like I'm proud of him.

Re: NBA Regular Season Discussion Thread

Otis said all four guys took the news pretty hard. I can imagine Rashard and VC taking it hard (especially VC) and maybe Pietrus to a lesser extent (he had been whining about playing time), but Gortat should be fuckin' partying. He gets to be the starting C (presumably) in a system with Steve Nash running the point, for however long that lasts.

VC should be pissed the most, he is near the end and just lost any shot he had at winning a ring.

Let me be clear. Baron Davis is lazy. If he wasn't lazy, he would have been the best PG in the league by a wide margin.

There is nothing that guy can't do. He can post up. He can create off the dribble. He can play off the ball by running off screens. He can rebound. He can shoot the 3. He can finish at the rim. He can play the passing lanes. He can defend one on one.

He is just a lazy fuck who has enjoyed the dinner table too much outside of playing for Nelson and Silas.

Re: NBA Regular Season Discussion Thread

I'd think he's more sad because Orlando is his hometown team (he's from here in Daytona), so he had to leave his family & friends for the desert.
