One rumor that I’m reading is MJF wants Punk and Mox money without signing a new deal or extension. He just wants a raise on his current deal to continue working.

If that’s the truth, MJF can take a flying leap into a ravine. It’s one thing to want a raise WITH an extension or want better booking, but to expect to get a raise in the middle of your current deal that you signed up front is just silly and makes you look greedy. You weren’t blindsided.
Worst part is SRS saying TK is offering him "top guy money" and MJF allegedly didny even want to entertain it. I dont get what his end game is here

From fightful select:
UPDATE: Those that we've spoken to claim that MJF is not on the plane. We're working to confirm this news.

Heres the thing though. You think vince is pissed at sasha/naomi well he certainly would be furious if someome put one of his ppv main attractions in danger. I dont really think Vince is down w this at all, Cody in contrast was a pro until he left on great terms. + if mjf fucks aew he loses half his leverage. If only one company wants him (in theory) hes just reduced his negotiation power by a lot

Doesn’t your theory also work the same way in regards to Sasha/Naomi with TK

Well we dont know that yet because unlike wwe, aew hasnt made a statement or buried mjf. So we dont know how TK is handling this atm. That being said, if they become available im sure that would have to play a factor in risk analasis. N yes it would bring sashas asking price down if wwe became not imterested, absolutely correct (though she has other suitors tbf to keep it pretty high, mjf only has wrestling atm)

Wow. If this is a work as some are alluding to then I think it’s a shit go - people paying $100+ for the meet and greet and then a no show cos of a work? That screams poor business to me and as a fan I’d be furious if it happened. Not to mention the potential sabotage for Wardlow.

I hope all is well cos this gives me ptsd for the Benoit deal all those years ago

This. If it is a work, it's a total dick move by AEW and comes off as WCW 2000 kind of stuff as Cwalker said too.

I mean ffs, what is exactly a "work" about him no-showing a meet and greet of all things? Because it's "in character"? Undertaker, a man who always was in character, always appeared at meet and greets and never once no-showed without a legitimate reason for doing so.

Customers paid a fuck ton of money for this, and you're telling me some grand master strategy is to have one of your biggest names not even bother showing up? Then have to possibly refund a bunch of people? All for the sake of a little extra intrigue to a match that was already one of the most hyped matches of the year.

If it is a "work", it's one of the most batshit dumb "works" I've ever seen in my entire life. People need to stop defending this kind of horseshit and acting like it would totally be "in character". It doesn't matter from a character perspective, at the end of the day, it's the business perspective that matters most.

This. So much this.

Nobody wins regardless if it's a shoot or a work, such a stupid situation. If it is all about the money / contract then just do the professional thing by doing your job at the PPV, then take your stand if you really want to and pull yourself from TV afterwards.
