HBK/Bret might be the WORST Ironman out there. The best are two Styles/Daniels matches from TNA, Rock/HHH, Angle/Bork and the ROH 4-way to crown the first ever champion.

The crazy thing about this year is just how many MOTYCs there may have been. Between the Rumble three-way, both Cena/Owens matches, Bryan vs Rollins, EC3 vs Spud, Neville vs Owens, Balor vs Owens, Banks vs Lynch, the womens' 4 way at Rival, like 3 Wrestle Kingdom 9 matches, Styles v Ibushi, Honma v Ishii, several other ROH matches and NJPW matches... In this year... IMO, between this, Aztec Warfare, the Trios' Championship finals, Grave Consequences, and Puma vs Drago, Lucha Underground easily has the five best matches this year. And zero bad episodes.

Signed: The dude who bitches about every time they do any kind of hardcore match on Impact

Glad to see I'm not the only one who finds the WM12 Iron Man match to be a boring pile of shit. Many have referred to that match by it's rightful nickname 'Restholdmania', as there seemed to be way too much of that for a match that went a whole hour. I think most of the reason why it's perceived as such a "classic" is obviously due to the participants involved, the event it occurred at, and the historic moment of Michaels winning his first championship (Vince saying "The boyhood dream has come true" on commentary as Michaels clutches the WWF Championship is one of the most replayed moments of all time), but yeah, this match is near the top of my list for the Most Overrated Matches Of All Time.

As far as Iron Man matches in WWF/E go, Triple H vs The Rock at Judgment Day 2000 and Brock Lesnar vs Kurt Angle on Smackdown in the Fall of '03 are the ones that you want to see.

I bet it's one of those matches that's different both when you watch live and when kayfabe was still alive. Must have lead to a whole new viewing experience.

Fuck me, that was awesome, yo!

I think it's pretty clear now The Disciples of Death will be the next Trios champs and Mil Muertes will prolly be wrecking Puma for the LUG title at Ultima Lucha.

- The word I am hearing is that the second season of Lucha Underground will begin filming in August. It looks like they will have to find a new location to film the show because the Temple has been abandoned.

Source

Nice.

But damn, a new location to film season 2? The temple looked awesome. If they are truly in need to find a new place, then it'd be better be as cool as the temple.

It's great that they are going to be taping that second season but I loved the Temple. That building and it's atmosphere was just fantastic. Hopefully they'll get something just as cool.

Episode #33 was good.

- Super Fly vs Sexy Star was an OK show opener. Super Fly gets the rehab win for losing his mask earlier this year.

- The hype for Vampiro vs Pentagon is real. It's damn real!

- Aerostar vs Mack vs Cage vs Marty was good.

- Dayumn, that backstage segment featuring the trios champs, Catrina and The Discples of Death was so awesome! We've got new trios champs in The Disciples of Death for sure.

- Mil Muertes vs Drago was a good ME. Dayumn, Puma's totally getting wrecked at Ultima Lucha!

Exactly my opinion. Another phenomenal show.

Previously on LU, focusing on Aztec Medallions storyline, Drago's victorious return and Catrina choking a match with Drago out of Cueto.

Vamp interviews Super Fly, who wants to get even with Sexy Star for taking his mask. He blames Vamp for saving her from Pentagon breaking her arm. Loved Vamp's facial reactions.

I wasn't a big fan of Sexy Star vs. Super Fly, because I think SF should've kicked her ass way more, and she should've made valiant comebacks, that would've made the match work super effectively, but here she basically got like 50% of offense, which is silly booking. Decent, but nothing more, and at least SF got some revenge on her.

Drago's on the roof, doing Drago things!

Pentagon's in the ring first, scheduled for a match for a medallion. He cuts a promo, saying he doesn't give a shit about gold medallions, he just wants to hurt Vampiro who screwed him over sacrificing Sexy Star's arm. He confronts Vamp, shit got intense and the crowd went NUTS for Vamp. I smell a future match, fuck yes! Penty just walks away from Vamp and the match, lol. He doesn't give a shit.

The 4-way was mostly good, but it did have some dead parts, nothing too bad, though. Cage and Mack did the PWG apron spot. The Mack owned the match. Marty was good enough, his persona fits in LU. Fun spotfest. Vampiro was awesome on commentary, he sold the Pentagon confrontation super well, he was visibly shaken and distracted.

The Trios Champions are somewhere in the gym training hard, however they're still beefing with each other obviously, Ivelisse is still a bitch to Havoc, etc. But here comes Catrina and outbitches Ivelisse, apparently she can make Disciples of Death appear out of thin air using her almighty stone, damn! Mil Muertes comes out of nowhere too. She's like some weird combo of Melissandre and Night King. Goddamn it, Catrina is so hot, wearing those yoga tights, uh oh... She's so sexy with her porn levels of bad acting, I'm in love.

Drago enters the ring for our main event, but Hernandez ambushes and beats the shit out of him. It looked brutal.

Main event was great, MM dominating and dismantling poor Drago during middle portions is what made it awesome, they made the power vs. speed plot work. Drago did bust out some nice hope moves and combos, but not enough to tame the un-dead beast, as Mil would just punch his way out of problems. Needless to say, Catrina was a humungous distraction for me as a viewer.

Puma and Konnan come post-match to confront Mil and Catrina, but from a far distance.

  1. Sexy Star vs. Super Fly **
  2. 4-WAY for the Aztec Medallion No. 3: Marty Martinez vs. The Mack vs. Aerostar vs. Cage ***1/2
  3. Drago's Ultima Lucha LU Title Shot on the Line: Drago vs. Mil Muertes ****

Episode 34
aired: 2015/7/1

Previously on LU, focusing on Mexico being after Chavo, Chavo turning on Black Lotus, Drago and Hernandez beef, and Mil Muertes winning the title shot at Puma.

Chavo visits Dario at his office and gets a No DQ title shot against Puma tonight. Dario loves Chavo for giving him Black Lotus. Konnan must not interfere.

Daivari/Texano was really good, it felt like a proper conclusion to the feud, as Texano overcame Daivari's heel tactics and Ryck's interferences, it felt like a feudender. Look, their story wasn't much, but if this was a blow-off, they finished on a high note, I thought this was a well done brawl.

Konnan and Puma are discussing Dario stacking the deck against them, but Konnan says not to worry because Chavo is everything but champion. Here come Catrina and Mil Muertes to scare the shit out of Puma. Konnan is still relaxed, he doesn't buy into all the supernatural shit, he says it's all mind games.

Konnan has a plan, though, he's seen talking to a mysterious figure backstage in a locker room, he says it's finally time to take out Chavo for all the shit he did in LU.

Shaun/Drago was also good, but what totally made it work for me was Hernandez scaring the shit out of that fan, stealing his belt and whipping Drago with it, then choking him for a DQ, then cutting a promo about dragons not being real. Awesome shit.

Chavo is preparing himself for the title match, but here come Catrina and MM, the same way they did with Puma. But Chavo is way cooler than Puma and just brushes them off. LOL. And then MM screamd funny. Such a lovely camp, love it!

Marty/Alberto was a squash, but fuck, it was a GREAT squash, Alberto was super aggressive, The Moth tried to fight him back but it was no good, he taped to the cross armbreaker quick. Al berto is a man on a mission. He cut a highly energetic and passionate post-match promo on Mundo. The evil side of el Patron is now awaken, perro!

Main event never really had a chance due to Chavo pulling a hamstring just when things were picking up. Shame. They improvized with The Crew doing a prolonged interference while Chavo was in visible pain. Konnan's mysterious helper turned out to be Texano, who screwed Chavo and helped Puma keep the strap.

Chavo sits in a changing room, nursing his injury. Demon comes but tells Chavo not to worry because he doesn't attack injured men. Demon mocks Chavo's failure but Chavo gets inside his head by telling him how the crowd never cheered Demon the way they cheered Texano just moments earlier. Chavo implies Demon is just a washed up hasbeen who lives in Miami, while Texano is true Mexican. Chavo's plan to stir some pot seemed to work as Demon lost his cool and slammed him into locker room doors few times. Cue Chavo's sinister laughter.

  1. Delavar Daivari vs. Texano Jr. ***1/2
  2. Hernandez vs. Drago ***1/4
  3. Marty Martinez vs. Alberto el Patron N/A (squash!)
  4. NO DQ for Lucha Underground Championship: Chavo Guerrero Jr. vs. Prince Puma (c) **
