WCW Saturday Night 7/8/1995: Rick Thames v.s The Renegade.

This went maybe a minute. It was just a body slam and a top rope splash from Renegade. Thames looked like he was there just for the ride but nobody cares about Renegade. He fuckin' sucks at everything he does, at least the Ultimate Warrior can cut a promo. This was a waste and Thames never looked at all like a thread. Nice purpose.

WCW Saturday Night 7/8/1995: Lt. James Earle v.s Road Warrior Hawk.

Not much but I actually believed Hawk's domination here. He did several big moves and went for the pin. It was easy and better than the last two squashes. The top rope closeline to end the match by Hawk wasn't too great but he already had Earle fucked.

NWA Starrcade ’87: Chi-Town Heat - Michael Hayes, Jim Garvin & Sting (w/Precious) vs. Eddie Gilbert, Rick Steiner & Larry Zbyszko (w/Baby Doll)

This was smart pick of an opener to get the crowd fired up. And it did exactly what it accomplished until it got ruined by the lack of a finish. Why book a time limit draw as the opener? They should of had the babyfaces go over in the opener”? Get the crowd all riled up. Or book a cheating heel to go over and piss them off. But what do i know. **1/2

NWA Starrcade ’87: Chi-Town Heat - UWF Heavyweight Championship: “Dr. Death” Steve Williams vs. Barry Windham

The UWF was as good as dead at this point and this very well may be the final defense of that promotions top title. This never really got started and was boring as hell. I had no idea who was Face and who was heel. The Crowd was shitting of them since it started the full shitted on them for the awful cradles finish. Both men looked like shit and seemed like they didn't care. * at best.

NWA Starrcade ’87: Chi-Town Heat - Scaffold Match: NWA U.S. Tag Team Champions The Midnight Express (w/Jim Cornette & Big Bubba Rogers) vs. The Rock n Roll

This was a non-title grudge match. Now normally this would be great. But some blueberry decided what this feud needed was a scaffold match. I hated every minute of this and refuse to rate or watch ever again.

NWA Starrcade ’87 - Title Unification Match: UWF Television Champion Terry Taylor (w/Eddie Gilbert) vs. NWA World Television Champion Nikita Koloff

I really couldn't get into this match the psychology was bad, while the execution is good, there is rarely a reason that a specific move is used. And this went on Way too long i think it went on for 17 minutes and with who was involved it was the wrong decision for the length. But i give them credit for the finish, the crowd was super into it. **1/4

NWA Starrcade ’87 - World Tag Team Championship: Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard (w/JJ Dillon) vs. The Road Warriors (w/Paul Ellering)

Great tag psychology match, with work the body part and keep the ring cut in half. Very few can say they knew how to do that as well as Arn Anderson. But it was another match with a terrible ending. "REF BUMP Animal throws Arm over the top rope while the ref is still down. New ref in and The Road Warriors hit a Doomsday Device and Animal gets the pin and the titles. Wait! Not exactly, in a classic Dusty Finish, Tommy Young wakes up and says he saw it all (meaning he saw Animal throw Arn over the top rope, which was a DQ in the NWA.) So he reverses his decision and awards the win to the Horsemen by DQ." I always hated that rule. But other then that this was a Fun Hoursemen formula tag match. ***

NWA Starrcade ’87 - Cage Match: Unites States Heavyweight Championship: Lex Luger vs. Dusty Rhodes
This was a pretty boring match even with the clip-job. poor finish. *

NWA Starrcade ’87 - World Heavyweight Championship: Ronnie Garvin vs. Ric Flair
Chicago loves the result as Garvin would never headline another pay-per-view again. This was a solid affair with a great final three minutes. Although I can’t help feeling that the finish was a little weak. I mean, Garvin didn’t hit the cage THAT hard. What a shocker another bad finish **1/2

ROH Fourth Anniversary Show - ROH World Tag Team Title Match: Austin Aries & Roderick Strong vs. AJ Styles & Matt Sydal

It’s difficult to do a face/face tag match because it makes the standard formula of tag team matches that much harder to work. As such I thought these teams did pretty well. They kept some isolation spots in here, but the primary focus was on what people were expecting to see – high-flying, high-impact high-spot exchanges. After a slow first five minutes they went at a hell of a pace throughout and the last few minutes were incredibly exciting. ***3/4

ROH Arena Warfare - Austin Aries vs. Matt Sydal

I forgot how great this was, the first 5 minutes had that "they know each other well" mat work which i love. Then Sydal stepping up to his leader in GeNext with a strategy to out-wrestle and prove himself from the bell, and he immediately tried to dominate him, frustrating Aries continually with his countering. In the end it broke down to the expected big move sprint. I also really enjoyed the finish with Sydal not letting Aries hit the brainbuster and knowing every counter for it. He did a great job of frustrating Aries all the way through but in the end his physicality was too much for him. ***1/2

ROH The Battle Of St. Paul - ROH World Title: Takeshi Morishima vs. Austin Aries

Another match i totally forgot how great it was. They did the story of "big man/little man" match, In particular I loved how they emphasised the size difference between the two by making Aries fight and scrape for every offensive move he could, whilst Morishima was able to dominate with ease at times. ***3/4 - ****

ROH Undeniable 2007 - #1 Contender Match: Austin Aries vs. Roderick Strong

Hell of a match. this is my first time ever seeing it and i'm pretty pissed it took me this long. They did a great job of establishing the amount of familiarity they have with each other, and with so much countering of moves, it meant that every time either man scored with an offensive move, it really meant something. Things like Roddy countering Aries little corner flip into the springboard elbow (which he does in most matches and never gets called on it) or his moonsault, or Aries revering both the Gibson Driver and the Stronghold. It just adds to the depth of a gripping wrestling match. I think they lost a little bit of steam in the last couple of minutes. I would of gave them some more time to truly sell the story of Strong’s assault on the back, and build up the intensity/hatred of what is conclusion of a feud that has been going on since what January/February of that year and this match took place in October. The only thing kinda stopping if from being higher was Aries overshooting the 450 at the end seeing how he already hit it y hit it earlier in the match too. I think everyone would've bought it if he’d have just rolled Roddy in after the table Brainbuster and got the 1-2-3. Another thing that kinda pissed me off was Aries no selling the back, cause Strong was killing him with these Half-Nelson backbreakers and even normal backbreakers and Aries acted like it was just a punk or kick. But that's me being picky. Great pace and storytelling. ****1/4

WCW Saturday Night 6/24/1995: TV Title Match- Jobber v.s The Renegade(c).

Okay this was for Renegade's TV title but they never tell us who he was facing. He pretty much just charged the ring and won in a quick, dominating fashion. I didn't mind it but I wish I knew why this nobody got a title match and the splash from the top was pretty solid. At least it looked impressive. Best I've ever see Renegade look, really.

WCW Saturday Night 6/24/1995: Julio Sanchez v.s Johnny B. Badd.

Well Sanchez did nothing at all. He just stood there and let Badd pick him up for a slam followed by just letting him be put on the top turnbuckle for a Frankensteiner. Just didn't look legit at all.

WCW Saturday Night 6/24/1995: Butch Long v.s Alex Wright.

Butch is bigger than Wright and gets the advantage from a cheap shot before the bell but as soon as Wright turns around he's already in control. Seriously could have been more to this and more of a realistic flow if anything.
