Have they waited too long for a Cena heel turn?

I actually totally forgot about Ryback. I guess put Ryback in number 3 and give everyone a bump.

So Daniel is 4 and Dolph is 5.

But to me, his push seems forced upon. Still not really invested in him.

i feel the same, about ryback, i mean, i like his character and all but it needs more work, whats the story? where does he come from?, like a background story you know?
but i guess this was just vince oversalivating over big guys....

if done right being the keyword...
look at what they did with punk, they tried it and the people were confussed? it took them weeks to realize he was a heel, and even now he´s not getting all the heat he wants in fact ive seen some shows where supercena (the top babyface) gets more heat than punk (the top heel)
but like you said, if is done right it could work

That's because the crowd generally thinks Punk is better than Cena. "Guys" don't want to support a mushy, goody-two-shoes, super wrestler, they want to cheer the most bad-ass wrestler there is and considering Punk's past, he definitely fits that bill. If you ever noticed the crowd, the people who chant "Let's go Cena" are mostly consisted of females while the "Cena Sucks" chants are mostly guys. Considering the demographic of WWE, it's understandable how much heat Cena gets just from being a face... well, super baby-face.

I'm only generalizing though, of course.

exactly, but i mean, cena has the strenght of the rock "media"-wise and i think a heel turn would do good for him, but i wouldn´t want to see well now that cena is a heel, lets make punk a face, please! i love punk in his heel-ironic character, I think he can become like HHH the bad guy that you love to hate

I don't think Bryan can be the top face. I'd love to see him as such as I'm a big fan, but Vince would never let that happen. I'll say that there's a small chance that it does go down because I never thought a guy like Punk, for example, would've become the top heel, or get that face push he did, so let's see. I don't doubt his talent but I doubt that they'll make the decision.

Cena is nowhere near Rock in the media buddy, Rock is an A list actor whilst Cena is only a wrestler... The biggest wrestler but still only a wrestler. A heel turn could freshen him up I agree however.

1) If you actually believe Cena is gonna get a gimmick change, you're mistaken. We'll just get an add-on to him. Ex. Aggressive Super Cena
2. Pff. No. Most faces have 5 moves of doom and if you're the top face no.
3. I'd rather have Cena telling the fans to shut up than I'm gonna kick your ass Rocky
4. A winning heel is better than a losing heel imo.

1) If you think Cena turning is more likely than a character change then you're mistaken.
2) So? Doesn't mean they HAVE to.
3) Oh how original, it's not like any heels do that...
4) Obviously, but when it's Cena...

1) Not more likely because a Cena change wouldn't be as big. As I said an add-on
2) Yes it does. He's the top dog and the five moves of doom are so children can follow along.
3) In wrestling nothing is original, sometimes it may be new, but it barely seems to happen. Cena cursing the fans would be a helluva lot more entertaining than any promo on how he's gonna do whatever
4) You don't know that cause he isn't heel

Cena really isn't as big as The Rock. Cena's probably the most well-know wrestler out there, but that's all people know him for. When people who aren't WWE fans think of The Rock, they think of all the past movies he's been in. When they think of Cena, well, it's just WWE, "no biggie".

And Punk's character is getting a bit stale. He is the best talker in WWE and a really good wrestler, but his formula for getting heat is getting a bit tiresome. Every time he comes out, it's always about someone/people disrespecting him by so-so as he insults the faces, Vince, and the crowd's city. That's really about it. Don't get me wrong, he's seriously awesome being heel, but either they need to completely change up how he does things or he turns tweener-ish. I can really picture being that face-ish underdog wrestler.

Like, you know how in movies where they always have this guy who's in love with this girl but he has competition over this bigger, handsomer, more popular guy? I can really picture that aspect being with the Punk/Cena feud. Cena is this guy that who's bigger, more popular, etc. but is a complete douche and Punk would be the nicer guy who wins in the end. I can kinda' picture that for a Cena heel turn.

The biggest problem with Punk is he has to try too hard to make people dislike him, he's that sarcastic douche who makes you laugh with his wit. Don't define him to get the best out of him.

When i compared cena with the rock i did it in WWE world, cena is the rock from before he left the company, the overrated babyface that people started to hate, I remember the rocky sucks before he left for hollywood, even when he was a face.
But the idea of the underdog is a godo one, didnt think of it, and taht wold fit punk pretty nicely, after all, its too hard for him to get heat, he has to resource to the same old cr*p everytime, like you said, insults vince, insults the crowd and goes for the cheap heat.
I dont think they would go to that angle tho, they just turned punk heel and turning him back ... i dont know.., but for cena, he going heel would be so good for his character, the goody goody is getting tiresome, and yes like you said it´s matter of demographics, but still, in demographics the fans are mostly guys over 18 yo, not girls or kids between 10 and 12..

Lol, I know, but I'm just saying sometime in the future that it would be good angle. Don't think Cena will be turning heel anytime soon anyway.

At this point I wouldn't believe it if there was rumors about him turning heel, which might work to WWE's advantage. I'm not expecting it and I'm sure that a lot of other people aren't expecting it right now. The only reason I don't think he's been turned heel is because WWE doesn't have anyone popular enough that can go toe to toe with him when he does and I'm referring to new talent. I'm sure when Cena goes heel, if he ever does, I think WWE will want someone who is young and just as popular for all of his fans to migrate to because if Cena goes heel and there is no face to replace him a large majority of those little kids will stop watching.

I think WWE is searching for it's next Austin/Rock feud, but it's not happening right now.

They'll probably go for the heel turn once they have enough confidence in Ryback to be the man (which they will IMO). And there's absolutely no doubt for me Cena would be an insanely good heel - maybe even better than Punk.

Can Punk even perform as a convincing good guy?. He's known for his sarcastic wit - as seabs pointed out - and he relies too heavily on it. He wouldn't portray a good guy convincingly. At least in the way Deathbane imagines.
