I thought them being siblings was a solid add-on to the next movie, but then it played way too much of a factor in some of the other sequels which are still fun but overall but way shittier than the first two lmao

Plus I bet a lot of the new audience watching the one that came out last year probably only saw the first one bc everyone nowadays knows horror movie sequels usually sucked so it may not have been a bad move business-wise to ignore them

Nah, I can't see Michael without a sister motive to care about a random bitch he tried to kill 40-years-ago. Especially when she didn't really do shit. Loomis is the one who stopped him and shot him off the balcony. TBH it makes me laugh because the people that hated the sister stuff wanted him to have no motive, but they gave him an even sillier motive.

Or they may have only seen the Rob Zombie remakes and they do have the the sister thing in it so they might be confused af

I'm a fan of the crazy guy with no motive other than being obsessive as fuck, but I'm also a fan of the sister thing...plus it was before it became such a trope for everyone to be secretly related in movies, it was one of the originals to do that along with Star Wars that I know of

I don't think anyone today didn't know about the Sister stuff. They knew it would be hurdle so they even throw in a whole conversation between the teen characters making the belief she was his sister which makes no sense in the storyline, but they did it for the audience.

And yeah fan service is definitely "in" these days...and I usually don't mind it as long as I am the fan they're servicing

I think certain things permeate culture. I saw something with teens the other day and most knew Michael was the guy who stalked his sister. But, like you said it could be from the Zombie ones. Which weren't that long ago.

I remember I was gonna watch the original from '78 with my friends a couple years ago and accidentally downloaded the Rob Zombie one...smh turned that shit off so fast and was like give me 10 more minutes bc we ain't watching that one lmao

But, yeah that scene they threw in the film and included in the trailer where the characters in universe mock the idea Laurie is his sister is the number 1 thing that took me out of it. It's one thing to erase the angle, but another to mock it in your film when it doesn't even make sense.
