I'm more upset that Halloween III isn't canon anymore

NBC asked Carpenter to film new scenes for the TV cut because it ran short after cutting out the violence and whatnot and Carpenter used that as a chance to tie it in the sequel that was coming out later that year.

I also watched Halloween 2 pretty much at the same time, as well, so it was kinda weird how the doctor didn't piece ti together.

I usually like watching the original versions for most movies though with just a few exceptions like if the studio cut some stuff the director wanted included that makes the movie much better or if they are just awesome like LOTR

When you're a kid you don't really realize there's a difference. I just went to Blockbuster and rented Halloween. I didn't realize at the time it was the Blockbuster video version based on the NBC cut.

Oh yeah for sure, I just mean nowadays and I didn't watch Halloween until I was already in high school so I probably found the original version to download

Though, even if I had watched the 1978 version first, I watched Halloween almost immediately afterwards so Michael and Laurie would have been related for me almost the entire I knew the franchise.

Before I knew of the siblings thing, I just interpreted him targeting her bc she reminded him of his sister who he hated and he obviously has some obsessive qualities so he wasn't going to stop until he killed her

So then the new movie (again haven't seen it) would make sense without them being siblings just for revenge bc she's the reason he ended up locked up for so long

That was the most likely interpretation at the time, but Halloween 2 only came out 3 years later so they were only unrelated for those three years. I just can't put that genie back in the bottle. Especially since I wasn't alive before 1981.
