I've had a somewhat similar experience.

I did a radio show on the old IWF once and afterwards pretty much everyone told me I sounded like the most flaming dude ever.

I don't hear it when I speak but when I mention it to people they sometimes go "yeahhhh, I kinda hear it." and even I kind of heard it when I listened to the playback.

So yeah, maybe try recording your voice saying some Nicolas Cage dialogue and maybe you'll hear it.
