Well, RRS, you're not reading very deep. What you should have got was that there is a perception in Canada and Europe apparently that anyone in America who owns and uses guns is a Redneck blueberry. I was born and raised in Tennessee and now live in Oklahoma and am insulted by that kind of classification. Don't hate the rest of the world...we just don't owe you any explanations...we had a government come and try and confiscate our guns oh...over 200 years ago. That didn't end well.
I'm sorry. I'm just cynical enough not to trust the world to play fair or my government to be there when I need them to protect me. ESPECIALLY in the kind of world we live in. We are moments away from anarchy...good luck protecting yourself then with your fists...
That's just a mindless perception. Not all Canadians think that for one, mainly the extremists. A gun is only good for certain range, I get up close you're fucked, end of story. Why have a gun? To protect your family? That's a piss poor excuse in my opinion. Guns are meant really for one thing and one thing only, and that's killing other beings. You use that gun, you're no better than the idiot who's shooting up the place. Why not try to stop him by knocking him out, let him go to prison where he'll most likely get killed or worse because he doesn't have a gun of his own. I'm thinking your idea of defence and mine are completely different.
