Of course he did it. I loved the guy before it happened. I followed him most of his career. I cried when he won the goddamn world title. He was a great wrestler. None of that matters anymore.

He brutally murdered his wife and special-needs child. There is no amount of suplexes and toothless smiles on WWE home video that can make up for that. He's a murderer. Period. While I understand this is a bit drastic a comparison but, how many times have you heard people talk about all the GOOD things Hitler did in his life?

No.

All of that is completely pointless and worthless. I'm glad WWE doesn't promote or mention him in any way. He deserves far, far worse. It makes me absolutely SICK for people that glorify the fucking guy, and pretend that you can separate what he was before with what he was then. If you were a personal friend of Chris Benoit, then I retract that statement. Otherwise, DILLIGAF? Between the 3 forums I've been a part of since 2007, I've gotten so goddamn tired of seeing this "This space reserved for the Memory of Chris Benoit." or the Benoit Sigs

Fuck Chris Benoit and stop fucking glamorizing a murderer. Please.

I also have a BIG fucking issue with the WWE turning Daniel Bryan into a goddamn Benoit Clone. The guy is too talented to be put into someone elses fucking gimmick. I don't want to see Benoit on video. I dont' want to hear them mention him. I don't want to see him in my WWE 2k14 Video game, and I dont' want to see one of my favorite wrestlers for nearly a decade turning into a Benoit Shadow Puppet.
My thoughts exactly.

He was included in the most recent War Games DVD... full match on the regular DVD listing... but his name and most commentary towards and involving him is muted. So he is starting to show up more. I don't know how the commentary is in the Money in the bank DVD anthology but they are starting to include him in DVDs little by little.

And yeah while I don't condone what he did cause what he did was deplorable and awful, because of the state of his brain I can't put him 100% at fault for it.

Having brain damage doesn't give him a free pass to kill his family and get away with it.

He was still mindful enough to ring in work with an excuse why he'd miss the PPV, and went about his daily activities normally because nobody spotted anything weird.

I get he was a much loved performer (strangely enough this seems to have grown after he became a murderer, I don't remember there being many Benoit fans back in the day) but almost campaigning for him to be included more is sick, and those that can't accept why he won't be in the HOF must have mushed up brains just like their homicidal idol.

Yeah its not like he was brain dead, he was still looking for ways out of it, planning on just going back to work after he killed them, buying plane tickets and such. He wasn't a slobbering mess incapable of thought. Just a scumbag.

I can understand that he suffered a couple of massive bereavements that hit him hard, and I can understand that his brain was in bad condition, and I can understand that all those factors combined probably took him to a very dark place. So fucking kill yourself. Why take your wife and kid with you and ruin a bunch of other peoples lives. Regardless of how brain damaged he was, you only need to be vaguely aware of the very simple concept of right and wrong to know that it’s a horrendous, unforgivable thing to do. So I have my tent firmly pitched in the ‘fuck him, he was a piece of shit’ camp. To me there’s no difference between him and any other child murderer, he’s right up there with Ian Huntley in my mind. I don’t judge anyone for enjoying his matches posthumously, if you can separate Benoit the murderer from Benoit the wrestler then lucky you, I wish I could. I just find watching his matches quite depressing.

Having studied Hitler & the Third Reich more than most, I can chime in about some of the "good" things he had done.

-Medical research was done that never could have been done before. This information has saved more lives than the Nazi's killed.

-Technological advancements happen more rapidly in times of war, during WW2 we nearly skipped ahead an entire generation. The atom was split during the war, and weaponized to end it.

-Hitler refused to use gasses in combat situations, as he deemed it inhumane.

-The war effort was a major factor in recovering from the Great Depression. Creating a demand of goods, which led to more jobs being made available, which led to a better stimulated economy.

So, to get back on topic, Benoit has never done anything even remotely close to all the "good" Hitler did. Even if he had saved his own mother from a homicidal maniac trying to burn her in her own house, it wouldn't make up for the lives lost by his own hand.

Hitler didn't use gasses in combat because he needed them for jews and the mentally challenged.

And who is this Crispen Wah? That name sounds familiar. Sounds like this guy I was his fan since the first time I ever seen him on Collision in Korea against 2 Cold Scorpio, who I met to in Edmonton back in 05 seemed like a real nice and personable guy, have his signature on a Hard Knocks DVD and cried like a bitch for when he won the title at WM XX, and someone I actually teared up for when I heard he died.

No, doesn't ring any bells.......12 years worth of personal memories erased after one bad weekend.

To this day, I can't watch a Benoit match without feeling uneasy, sick about what he did at the end of his life, his son's short life, and his wife's. The man had some major brain damage from what he did. I don't know if it made him depressed, made him paranoid, or even violent. Towards the end of Junior Seau's life, he was doing some things that seemed uncharacteristic for him. He tried killing himself a couple times and ultimately succeeded. He got caught up in some domestic violence, though who knows if the brain damage from years of football had anything to do with it.

Mental illness can make people do very unreasonable, terrible things. Some of it you can't just will yourself out of. It's hard to say if Benoit was dealing with any of that other than he seemed to be on some anti-depressants. But it just seems like a lot of what went on that weekend seemed very deliberate.

The man killed his wife and his child. There's no explaining that away. Those around him year around didn't seem to say anything about him coming off as paranoid to the point that he'd lost all sense of reality and could kill someone without even realizing what he's doing.

Regardless of any of that though, he murdered his wife and child. It should be a no brainer that the WWE or most promotions or businesses wouldn't care to associate with him or his name.

And personally, I just can't accept him for being a good man. Even if that was one weekend, his memory is forever tarnished for me. First in my mind, the man will be known as a murderer.

The one thing that makes me embarrassed to be a wrestling fan is the people who think this guy belongs in the HOF, same people say that someone like CHyna doesn't belong because she did some porn, like taking a fick is worse than taking a life.

To this day, I am still conflicted about my feelings for him.

On one hand, he had skills in the ring. He was of the best wrestlers in the WWE. There is no denying that. I respect his work. On the other hand, he killed his family. That overshadows everything. When I watch one of his matches, I can't help but think of that weekend.

I enjoyed his in game work and his persona. I considered myself to be one of his fans. Which brings me to the conflict. I have respect for his in game work and such. There is a part of me that does not hate him and can see him as who he once was. The man he was before the weekend and such. The man we saw on our screens, online and etc. However, I feel guilty for not completely hating him. I know I should. He killed his family. :fp:

Why exactly make all his previous accomplishments moot? There were 2 different Chris Benoit's, the one we saw every week on television that we loved and was entertained by, and then there is the real life Benoit. I don't forgive him for what he did, but I won't entirely allow what he did to effect me watching his old stuff. I can easily separate the two, and that doesn't make me heartless by any means.

What he did was wrong, there is no doubt about that. He killed his wife and innocent son. He was on all sorts of drugs was he not? He was on medication for all the injuries he sustained over the years entertaining us.

I don't get the comment about how some people glorify him. How the fuck is being a fan of his wrestling glorifying him?

Bottom line, I don't like what he did, never will. But I don't think about what he did when I watch his old matches. He wasn't like that all the time.

All I can say is I can still, and on a pretty regular basis, watch some of his matches. I don't have any problems watching his matches, using him in video games, or any of the like. I can still say I was a Benoit fan. And when I play 2007 for GM mode (Still the greatest mode of all time) Benoit is always the first man drafted to my roster. I can separate the two.

Yes, what he did was wrong on all standards. But by no means does it mean we should throw away 10 years of amazing matches, moments, and feuds.

I kinda' wanna' get on this Hall of Fame subject a little more because it's one I've always found to be a pretty dumb argument. Do we have any Pro-HOF Benoit guys on here? And if so, how would you think WWE should go about that exactly?
