Twist of Fate I'm not going to quote everything you said and pick apart things because I'm not on a computer but I said they were trying to making things more convenient. I didn't say they were succeeding. I think Microsoft had this conference to get the idea out there, take the backlash and then try and fix things for E3. While a good idea, Microsoft came at it in a very bad way. A lot of people are pissed off about used games but we also don't know PS4's stance on this either. I guess their plan is to see how Microsoft deals with the backlash and adjust accordingly. They could be doing the exact same thing but are being quiet about it.

As far as your other concerns, not to be a dick but I don't care. The Kinect watching me all the time I have a problem with but like I said earlier, I'm just tired of hearing the same arguments. I don't want to listen to people complain all day. Is it bad? Yeah it's bad but a lot of the stuff doesn't affect me so I don't feel the need to voice all the problems when others are doing it for me and better.

I'm not strictly answering you or trying to convince you (or necessarily anyone else for that matter). While I am acknowledging/addressing your previous points in your post to an extent, i'm also expanding off those points and writing my own general considerations at the same time as either way they're still legit points IMO. Admittingly, it's kind of hard to show that. It's a thread for discussion and that's what i'm doing (no offence but whether you legitimately or directly care - doesn't really matter to me either, it's just as much aimed at anyone else here either way as points of discussion).

There are a fair amount of people that don't care like yourself. They'll do what they do. But as for myself, I have legitimate concerns and I'd much rather highlight, discuss and put those frustrations out there like I have. Hence why i'm posting and discussing in this thread in the first place.

EDIT - In regards to Blu Ray - it's a logical "upgrade" one way or another anyway. I don't know whether Microsoft's main intention or a priority with that was the movie aspect of it, but as far as storing data goes (and based on what little I actually know about them) they sound like they're just a lot better in general.

There's quite a lot of recent games (and in fact some in the last few years now like Mass Effect 2 and Rage) that have relied on 2 or even up to 3 discs and requiring pretty frequent swapping of discs. From a gaming standpoint, Blu Ray's are handy.

IDK about all you but my PS3 doesn't play live TV, know it does in China or Japan but not here in the states. For a fee Uverse lets you turn your 360 into a reciever and now its built in. I find that convenient even though I will still end up using my Tivo.

I'm concerned with the used game part of course, In my bedroom alone, I have 2 TVs, each has its own Xbox 360 and Ps3. 1 of each is mine and the other is my Girlfriends, each of our harddrives only has our own profiles and we share games. There better be some kind of loophole that allows us to continue sharing games the way we do now or I will not be pleased.

On the other hand Connecting the disc also gives you a new convenience. once the game is installed, you no longer need to put the disc in the console to play it.

Beyond that, I'm fairly happy with the Xbox One; Installs in the background, in console DVR (Although I didn't here any game spectating which I really like in the PS4), Blu ray :), Used games will still exist which means a company like Gamefly can still run (I love Gamefly), Always online is not a requirement.

Wish it came with a TB HDD and Wish it could function without Kinect because when I go to say Pax East, I don't want to have to bring my Kinect with me to the hotel but overall, I'm fine with the console.

The more information that is revealed the more the Xbox One is digging itself into a hole. I can't think of any positives about this system at the moment. Everybody knows the PS4 will have better exclusives with Naughty Dog alone. This is coming from an Xbox fanboy.

Also just thought of something, the pre-owned game thing almost stops households from buying more than 1 Xbox. I know people who have more than one PS3, more than one Xbox 360, I'm pretty sure they will lose a shit load of sales because of this.

I read somewhere the disk still needs to be in the tray to play the game. This is how stupid the Xbox One is.

Source? here is mine: Installing, buying, selling and sharing games on Xbox One: here's what we know

Confirmed by Microsoft, you don't need the disc, and this also goes to cloud gaming; when Signed in to your account, you can download that game and play else where without the disc.

The current loophole/Work around for house holds is for every xbox to have a Master account and put all games on the account, then you can give everyone permission to play it. As somewhat touched on in the article above.

I just listening to a podcast (Pointless with Kevin Pereira) where he along with two guys from Machinama discussed the Xbox One in a very positive light and hearing them talk made it seem a lot better. Granted since new information is coming out, some stuff they talk about may have been debunked. Some things they brought up were how a Kinect coming with every console will allow developers to not feel like they don't have a big audience and might actually use the technology to make cool shit. We could see an almost App Store level of Kinect games. Clearly not half as large but the potential is there. Indie games on Xbox are already like an App Store with their $1 price tag.

Basically they looked at everything in a more positive light aside from the used games shit as no one likes that. It was actually refreshing to hear about the possibilities that can be accomplished. Sure it's a little wishful thinking but it beats making a big deal about rumors. Then again that's journalism for you, always wanting to break the news first even if they're just speculating.

Honestly if they got rid of the Pre-Owned thing and the Online check in, I'd be totally fine with this console. Those 2 things are such deal-breakers though...

I am honestly thinking this gen should all just be named Dreamcast, Virtual Boy, and Jaguar, I may have actually been more excited about those consoles than I am about the U, One, & PS4.

If Nintendo can get solid 3rd party developers on the U(like Rocksteady, Capcom, & Rockstar), then I believe they may have an edge in this next generation. Mario, Link, Samus, & Pikachu cant carry the company much longer. The lower price point, and ability to rent, borrow, buy pre-used will definitely help to capture the gamers on a budget.

The One, seems to be putting nails in the coffin with every new announcement. The day Microsoft revealed the first round, Sony's stock went up. they sound like they want to be able to make the most revenue from these announcements, but fail to realize the road blocks they have put up for themselves. Microsoft will now have a need to release more demos on XBLA, or they risk games not reaching the sales from a previous generation as their users will now be more cautious about the games they purchase, people are going to be less likely to buy multiple One's, and then there are people living in more rural areas, who do not have high speed internet available who will be more inclined to purchase a console that does not require being online at all, regardless of how "limited" Microsoft claims it will be needed. This actually limits your market, after Nintendo went to all those lengths to bring in a larger casual gaming market.

the PS4, is all rumours at this point, but all I can do is hope that they will not make the same mistakes Microsoft has.

If PS4 doesn't require online connection and can play used games, this may very well be Microsoft's last stand in the video game market. Because from what I've seen so far, Sony just seems to have their bases covered and Microsoft has already pissed off a lot of potential customers. Microsoft even LIED a few months ago when they said that internet connection wouldn't be mandatory, and now all of a sudden it once again IS mandatory. That isn't going to sit well with the casual gamer market, the same market that Nintendo has been beating out both companies with for the past 7 years. It's just too complicated and unless you're an online FPS shooter type of player, it's useless.

PS4 for me once again.

"[Xbox One] does not have to be always connected, but Xbox One does require a connection to the Internet," reads official Xbox news site.

"We're designing Xbox One to be your all-in-one entertainment system that is connected to the cloud and always ready. We are also designing it so you can play games and watch Blu-ray movies and live TV if you lose your connection."

Seems to me people are jumping to conclusions. The always online is an option for developers. Will the developers be stupid enough to do this for Xbox One if they weren't also able to do it on PS4? It is not mandatory for all games or to use other features of the xbox.

EA never developed for the Wii U. So they didn't just stop, what they failed to do was see the potential in Madden. The second screen would allow 2 players to pick their plays on the fly without interrupting gameplay, and in the event of same room multiplayer(something Nintendo has done better than any other console this generation), each team has a coach, who can keep plays secret from the opposition, or even create a new play.

If someone who has nothing to do with the videogame industry can come up with a way for EA to market their games on the Wii U, and make them a unique experience that no other console can, why couldn't a strong 3rd party developer(like Rocksteady, who ported Arkham City to the Wii U) come up with ideas just as good, or better? Also remember, during the SNES lifecycle, Square stopped releasing games for Nintendo following Mario RPG, but even they came back to the console that made Final Fantasy(and Enix's Dragon Warrior/Quest) a household name, with exclusives.

And, this is about the dead in the water comment. Nintendo is backed by one of the worlds largest companies, that actually makes the WWE action figures now. The same company who has kept such iconic consumer products such as Hot Wheels & Barbie relevant for decades, Mattel. 120+ years of Nintendo, I don't see them dying anytime soon.

E3 right around the corner and I'm sure it will leave us with a lot more information; Not going straight to the negative now, from many reports I am looking at the good side of things and Have thought up a way to turn the bad into good.

Dude, you NEED to connect your Xbox One to the Internet once a day just to play on your account. If you don't, it'll probably give you an Error message.

I'm glad you can see the positives in the Xbox One, because many others can't, but blindly ignoring the horrendous implementations isn't going to make the system any better. At the end of the day, 60% of my games are pre-owned. I've probably saved upwards of $300/$400 in doing so. They're taking out an aspect of gaming that has been around since its inception. People won't be able to play games before they buy them unless they play it on somebody elses Xbox. It's all so ridiculous. Get's me frustrated.
