WWE UK SHOWCASE IX

SSE ARENA | BELFAST, NORTHERN IRELAND

01/09/20
CARD CONFIRMED SO FAR
WWE UK WOMENS CHAMPIONSHIP

JINNY (C) VS. RAQUEL LOURENCO

The first match confirmed for the 9th WWE UK Showcase will be a highly personal clash for the UK Women's Championship. The WWE UK Women's Champion Jinny and her opponent Raquel Lourenco have a lot of history with one another and a lot of bad blood. Lourenco of course won the recent UK Women's Rumble to earn this opportunity. However this bout is for a lot more than just the women's championship. This bout is also for respect and for Lourenco to prove to Jinny and the world her worth. Raquel of course has previously submitted Jinny in the elimination tag team match at the previous showcase but their history dates back a lot further with Lourenco at one stage a member of Jinny's House of Couture faction. Since that time however and under her own employ, Lourenco has flourished in singles competition especially now under her real name as opposed to the Killer Kelly moniker. Will Lourenco be able to dethrone the Fashionista? or will Jinny's reign continue?

WWE UK NEXT SHOW PREVIEW
TAG TEAM MATCH

ALEXANDER WOLFE AND KILLIAN DAIN VS. BOISTEROUS BEHAVIOR (LEON SLATER AND MAN LIKE DEREISS)

Also scheduled for this week will be tag team action as two of the WWE UK's brightest young prospects Leon Slater and Man Like Dereiss brand together to take on the highly dangerous pairing of Alexander Wolfe and Killian Dain. Since their return to the brand this highly volatile and dangerous pair have made their mark destroying opponents and assaulting Finn Balor. Will their run continue this week?
SINGLES MATCH

CARLOS ROMO VS. FRANCESCO AKIRA

A clash of young, talented European high flyers will take place on this week's show as Carlos Romo of Team White Wolf takes on Francesco Akira of the Foreign Legion. With these two factions at odds as of late, it will be interesting to see how Carlos Romo this week fares in singles action after his partner A-Kid walked out of the show last week and has yet to be heard from since. Will Romo be focused on the task at hand?
SINGLES MATCH

XIA BROOKSIDE VS. JESSI KAMEA

After making her successful debut in the ring this past week. "The Total Diva" Jessi Kamea will look to make it two in a row as she takes on the rising superstar Xia Brookside. While Kamea has yet to tell the world as to why she assaulted Kanji two weeks ago. There is no doubt she will be fully focused on the task at hand. Meanwhile in the case of Xia Brookside, it seemed last week she attracted the attention of the Wonderland Faction. Will Xia Brookside be able to hand Kamea her first loss?
SINGLES MATCH

HYAN VS. RACHEL ELLERING

Seemingly showing a new side to her personality in the last few weeks. Hyan this week will look to get back on the winning track as she faces the tough, powerhouse Rachel Ellering. Ellering of course seems to have taken issue with this bad attitude that Hyan has put on show. With Ellering looking to shut Hyan's mouth, will she be able to do so when this week the pair finally step into the ring?
TAG TEAM MATCH

CANDY FLOSS AND LAURA DI MATTEO VS. AUSTRALIAS HOTTEST COMMODITIES (INDI HARTWELL AND PERSIA PIROTTA)

More tag team action set for this week will see a heated grudge match as Candy Floss and her mentor Laura Di Matteo unite to take on the pair of Australia's Hottest Commodities. This pair of influencers have seemingly lately aligned themselves with the House of Couture which has put the duo of Candy Floss and Laura Di Matteo firmly in their crosshairs. What can be expected this week when these two teams collide.
SINGLES MATCH

MICHAEL OKU VS. DAVEY BLAZE

Another singles match this week will see the impressive young prospect Michael Oku look to build on his run of form as of late as he takes on Scotland's Davey Blaze. It is believe that the Scottish veteran Blaze has been called in for this match as a personal favor by Aaron Chalmers. With the pair recently befriending one another at a party based on their exploits on reality television in the UK.
SINGLES MATCH

RAQUEL LOURENCO VS. LINDSAY SNOW

Lastly this week we know that Raquel Lourenco will be in action. With a bounty placed firmly on her head we know this week Raquel will face a woman who recently arrived in NXT "The Kaiju" Lindsay Snow. A powerhouse with an MMA background, Snow is an enforcer of the highest order and seems to be someone hellbent on breaking Lourenco. Will Snow be the one to collect on the bounty laid down by the Fashionista?
ASHTON SMITH TO MAKE ANOUNCEMENT

Curiously during last week's show there was a backstage conversation between Anthony Ogogo and Ashton Smith. While the details of the conversation could not be picked up, it seemed that the winner of the WWE UK Rumble this year had an announcement he wanted to make possibly in regards to his victory and his title implications at this coming showcase. Now we know this week Ashton Smith will appear and discuss what is going on with the crowd in attendance.
GABRIEL KIDD TO APPEAR

Perhaps one of the most upsetting and dreadful acts we have seen just yet in the UK Brand was what transpired last week. This was when young prospect Gabriel Kidd betrayed and assaulted his mentor Doug Williams following Williams' loss to Commonwealth champion Kassius Ohno. Seemingly forming a relationship or partnership with Eddie Dennis, we know now that this week Gabriel Kidd and Eddie Dennis will appear on Session Moth's Beer Garden to explain just why Gabriel Kidd did what he did.

DARK MATCH: THEKLA VS. HELENA SIXT

62f9bde04cd753b117f1607aaea562a1a9efe254.gifv

Before the evening could officially begin we'd be treated to a pre show match which saw the debut of highly regarded Austrian Thekla. Opposing her in her debut would be Swedish Striker, Helena Sixt. This bout however would be a showcase for the Toxic Spider who true to her name never gave any space to her opponent once she had a hold of her. Following a short bout, Thekla picked up the win with a Death Trap Choke.

Throne by Bring me the Horizon plays with a comprehensive video package highlighting last week's show. Starting out with the time limit draw between the Work Horsemen and Aussie Open, the video package then profiles moments such as Ilja Dragunov defeating Mike Kanellis before finally showing Gabriel Kidd's betrayal of Doug Williams. With that this week's show officially opens from inside the BT Sports Studio. Wade Barrett and John Gooden hype up tonight's show before they send us to the ring as we are set to hear from Ashton Smith.

Walking down to the ring Ashton Smith is met with a loud cheer from the crowd in attendance. High fiving several fans on his way down to the ring, once he is in the ring Ashton Smith is handed a microphone before he begins to address the crowd in attendance. The UK Rumble winner says that he met with Wade Barrett last week to discuss his Rumble victory and the prize it brings which of course is a championship match at the 9th UK Showcase! Talking about the WWE UK Champion Spike Trivet, Ashton Smith admits that he cannot hide his disgust for Spike or the fact that a man like that is currently the standard bearer for this brand as a whole. Admitting that he would love nothing more than to be the man to stop the Vulture. Ashton says that he has another opportunity which he cannot pass up.

Saying that he has always dreamed to succeed in Wrestling. Ashton Smith calls winning a championship the pinnacle of a career as it makes every sacrifice and bump in the road worth it. However there are certain times when what you want to achieve and what you must do don't align. This is why when Ashton Smith saw that the contract with his UK Rumble win guaranteed him a title shot, he noticed it never specified for what title exactly. This is where Ashton found himself with something to contemplate. As while he'd love nothing more than to silence Spike Trivet, he also has the chance to write a massive wrong which hasn't sit right with him for weeks now.

This is why during last week's meeting with Anthony Ogogo, Ashton elected to let his heart rule his head. Which is why at this coming showcase, Ashton Smith will not be challenging for the WWE United Kingdom Championship! Instead Ashton Smith will be challenging Gunther for the WWE European Championship. The stunned crowd cheers as Ashton Smith continues, Saying that this match is more than just a title match for him. Ashton says that he has the chance to avenge his friend and mentor Rampage Brown who Gunther brutalized. Calling this his chance to write this wrong and get redemption for his friend, Ashton Smith pledges that he will be the first man to defeat Gunther.

HYAN VS. RACHEL ELLERING

Opening the night in singles action would be a bit of a grudge match as Rachel Ellering battled Hyan. This would be a hard fought back and forth battle which continued to cement this new attitude on display from Hyan. While Ellering would have a noted power edge in this bout, it seemed that Hyan had very much adjusted her style with a lot more limb work to weaken Ellering. Thanks to the knee work by Hyan, Ellering's attempt at a press slam would be failed as her knee buckled and this allowed Hyan to score the win with a Busiaku knee strike!

Shepherd: And the winner of the match Hyan!

The crowd boos as the announcement is made and Hyan climbs to her feet. After having her arm raised in the air, Hyan rolls out of the ring and to the floor while the referee checks on Ellering.

Every Time we touch by Cascada plays as the latest edition of Session Moth's Beer Garden begins. Standing in the ring already with a beer in her hand is our host Session Moth Martina. As she begins to chug her beer with the crowd chanting along, Session Moth rolls out of the ring and begins to start a dance party with the fans in attendance. Once again Martina attempts to get Wade Barrett to join in the dance party sadly to no avail before she rolls back into the ring. Once she is in the ring, Martina reaches into her cooler for another drink before she welcomes the fans in attendance to her latest show. With that Martina albeit with some noted reluctance introduces her guests for this evening.

To loud boos from the crowd a suited up Eddie Dennis walks out from the back. Dennis looks especially smug this evening as he enters the ring. The usually warm and engaging Martina is noticeably withdrawn as she sits in her chair and very much keeps her words to a minimum. Taking the lead of this conversation, Eddie Dennis muses that he knows a lot of people are looking to villify him for what transpired last week. Saying that he had no idea of what was going to happen last week, Eddie Dennis says though that he is someone who has always loved a good surprise. Saying that he told Kidd nothing but the truth in that he would never get his while he was associated with Doug. Eddie Dennis says he is proud now to welcome the world to the man of the hour!

To more boos from the crowd Gabriel Kidd walks out from the back. Very much exhibiting the worst aspects of his personality notably the aggression and abusive nature, Gabriel mouths off at several fans on his way down to the ring before rolling under the ropes. Once he is in the ring, Gabriel is handed a microphone by Eddie Dennis. Saying that he is sick and tired of hearing people whine and cry about last week. Gabriel Kidd says that what he did last week wasn't a grand betrayal but instead a long time coming! Refusing to apologize for what he did, Gabriel Kidd says last week was just the beginning of his metamorphosis and that the world will see exactly who he is! Following on with this as the segment comes to a close, Eddie Dennis proclaims last week as the official dawning of the Selfish Generation!
~ DECREED ~

The cameras then direct us to the office of "The Guvnor" Anthony Ogogo. Here we see a bemused General manager standing by as standing before him is the WWE UK Champion Spike Trivet. The Champion is highly demanding as he wants to know with Ashton's announcement, who will he be defending his championship against at the upcoming Showcase. With Ogogo promising that he is going to arrange something for Spike, this doesn't sit well with Spike Trivet however. As Spike demands that Ogogo either let him select his own opponent or give him the rest of the time until the showcase off. Ogogo isn't standing for this and tells Spike that he will find Spike's opponent and now he wants Trivet to leave. Shaking his head in disgust, Spike then storms out of the office as Ogogo sighs.
MATCH #2: SINGLES MATCH

CARLOS ROMO W/MARIAH MAY VS. FRANCESCO AKIRA W/AMALE AND LUDWIG KAISER

Match two of the evening would be the latest in a line of clashes between Team White Wolf and the Foreign Legion. In this bout Carlos Romo would take on the newest member of the Foreign Legion Francesco Akira. This would be quite the fast paced contest with Akira proving himself to be quite the talented aerial artist as well as technician. His aerial abilities would be matched by his arrogance and vanity which very much rubbed the crowd the wrong way. In the end however Akira would pick up his first singles victory following the Brutta Faccia (Leg Lariat).

Shepherd: And the winner of the match Francesco Akira.

The crowd boos as the announcement is made and Akira rises to his feet. While Akira is joined in the ring by Ludwig Kaiser, we see at ringside a concerned Mariah May begins to climb up on the apron. Before Mariah can get in the ring however she is blindsided by Amale. Amale sends Mariah crashing into the barricade while in the ring Kaiser hoists up Romo and plants him with a DDT. With that The Foreign Legion all stand tall in the ring as the crowd continues to rain down with boos.
~ RESPECT ~

Following this match, the cameras take us to the hallway of the building where Joanna Rose is standing by. The backstage interviewer is joined by the WWE UK Tag Team Champions Aussie Open. Here Joanna Rose looks to talk to the champions about their thoughts regarding their time limit draw the week previously. Albeit with some reluctance it was Mark Davis who would issue some respect to the pair of Asher Hale and JD Drake. Again showing a bit more of a harshness to himself however, Kyle Fletcher would state that Aussie Open is the best team in wrestling and they will prove it once again when they step in the ring with the Work Horsemen.
~ UNDOUBTED ~

images

Ahead of the next match, the cameras once again take us to the hall and it is Zack Gibson this time standing by. Despite his win last week, the fired up Gibson as always is in quite the sour mood. Saying that he is the WWE UK Brand's top star and he will cement his legacy. Zack Gibson is not happy that the world still seems to be focused on Cara Noir and not him. Calling the swan dead, Gibson then storms off down the hall. The camera meanwhile lingers and as it does it focuses on the mask of Cara Noir which is positioned on a production crate.
MATCH #3: TAG TEAM MATCH
(Referee: Darryl Sharma)

BOISTEROUS BEHAVIOR (LEON SLATER AND MAN LIKE DEREISS) VS. ALEXANDER WOLFE AND KILLIAN DAIN

The next bout of the night was a tag team match as we saw UK Performance Center trainees Leon Slater and Man Like Dereiss in action against Alexander Wolfe and Killian Dain. Similar to their last match since their return, this bout would be a vicious showcase for the pairing of Wolfe and Dain. In contrast to their last bout this time it would be Wolfe who kept the action out of the ring as he attacked Dereiss and trapped him in a camel clutch variation to force Dereiss to watch what was going on in the ring. In the ring we'd see Dain brutalize Leon with some clubbing blows before finishing Leon off with a Vader Bomb.

Shepherd: And the winners of the match Alexander Wolfe and Killian Dain!

The crowd boos as the announcement is made but it's clear neither Wolfe or Dain are finished even with this win. Dain lands a running senton across the chest of Slater while Wolfe proceeds to stomp Dereiss face first into the floor. However the attack is cut short by the flicker of the lights and this clearly throws both men off their game as they stop their attack and rush to the back.
~ INCONSEQUENTIAL ~

Having been victorious earlier in the night, Hyan walks through the hallway of the building as she looks to leave the building. On her journey, Hyan sees just ahead of her Tegan Nox is walking into the building. Calling out to Tegan Nox, Hyan seems almost overjoyed to see Nox. Nox however does not seem impressed with Hyan as she says that she needs to see Anthony Ogogo soon for a meeting. Hyan asks what Nox's problem is and Nox counters that when she gave Hyan advice to not back down and keep pushing forward. She didn't mean in the way that Hyan has gone about it, after expressing her disappointment Tegan Nox walks off down the hall.
~ RETRIBUTION ~

Post Show footage is then shown from last week's show and it takes us to the trainer's room. Here Angelico is being treated by doctors when he turns to the camera. In quite an uncharacteristic display, Angelico shows a lot of anger and rage to the attack and assault he suffered. Making it clear that if you are going to take a run at him, then you had best finish the job. Angelico makes it clear that he is coming for Nathan Cruz.
MATCH #4: SINGLES MATCH
(Referee: Artemis Ortygie)

RAQUEL LOURENCO VS. LINDSAY SNOW

The next bout of the night would be in the women's division as Raquel Lourenco took on Lindsay Snow. With Snow looking to collect the bounty on Lourenco's head. This would be a hard hitting, no nonsense clash. Filled with plenty of hard strikes back and forth, it seemed that Lourenco very much had a fight on her hands. This would be until Lourenco ducked a clothesline and hit a big high angle back suplex on Snow. With a stunned Snow taking a knee, Lourenco followed with a superkick to the jaw which put Snow down for the three.

Shepherd: And the winner of the match Raquel Lourenco!

The crowd cheers when the announcement is made and Raquel Lourenco rises to her feet. As Raquel gets her arm raised in the air, her celebration is cut short when she is spun around and headbutted by Sarah Logan. Logan stands over Raquel and barks in her face that she is coming for her!
~ RETALIATORY ~

More post show footage from last week is then shown and it focuses on Aaron Chalmers and Adam Maxted in the hallway celebrating Maxted's win. With various unnamed friends with him as part of his entourage, Chalmers is handed a bottle of champagne which he shakes up before spraying all over the hall. This brash display would soon be intercepted by the arrival of Michael Oku. With security and officials quick to also arrive on the scene in case anything transpires. Instead we just get a heated argument in which Michael Oku flat out accuses Chalmers and Maxted of being Z listers desperate for fame and are looking shamelessly bring wrestling down to their level. This is something Oku won't stand for and he makes it clear that he will stop this attempt to prostitute wrestling..
~ DISRUPTION ~

Ahead of our next contest, the cameras quickly take us to the locker room area. While Davey Blaze is in the process of warming up ahead of his contest tonight. The brash Aaron Chalmers vapes right into the camera before he talks about being a multi media sensation. Calling himself a multi platform superstar, Aaron Chalmers says that where he goes attention follows and that is what he is bringing to WWE UK along with his close friend Adam Maxted. Turning to Davey who Maxted says completely understands that any publicity is good publicity which is why he went on Take me out. Aaron Chalmers says tonight Michael Oku will see that he is simply not on the level to stand up for wrestling.
MATCH #5: SINGLES MATCH
(Referee: Chris Sharpe)

JESSI KAMEA VS. XIA BROOKSIDE

In our next bout of the night it would be women's action once more as Xia Brookside took on the recently debuted Jessi Kamea. This bout while having back and forth moments would very much seem to be going Xia Brookside's way. As at every turn she seemed to gradually get the best of Kamea. As Xia looked to end things however with the Brookside Bomb, she'd be distracted by the presence of Isla Dawn. This distraction allowed Kamea to leap off the top rope with a spinning heel kick on Xia Brookside to pick up the upset!

Shepherd: And the winner of the match Jessi Kamea!

The crowd erupts into boos as the announcement is made. The brash Jessi Kamea rises to her feet and begins to primp herself ahead of getting her hand raised. While Kamea celebrates her win, Isla Dawn simply continues to stand at ringside and stare at Xia.
~ WARFARE ~

Quickly the cameras cut to the backstage area where a confrontation is taking place. Here we see security and officials on the scene as Ilja Dragunov is standing in the hallway across from the collective of The Throne. An angered Maria Kanellis makes it clear that last week was just a fluke and that Dragunov best stand out of the Throne's way. Backing Dragunov up soon is Joe Hendry, Adam Brooks, Morgan Webster and Mark Andrews. Before this powder keg can explode, a livid Anthony Ogogo shows up on the scene and he demands this stop now! Ordering security to escort everyone out of the building, Ogogo says that he will resolve this situation once and for all next week!
~ PENANCE ~

Having picked up another victory tonight, "The Total Diva" Jessi Kamea is just finishing having her make up done by one of the crew backstage. As Kamea admires herself in the mirror however she is stunned to see standing behind her is a fired up Kanji. Before Kamea can react Kanji pounces on Kamea with a series of punches and forearms. These strikes send Kamea and Kanji toppling over the make up table. Continuing her onslaught on Kamea, Kanji grabs a bunch of lipsticks and other make up which she smears over Kamea until security and officials arrive.
MATCH #6: SINGLES MATCH
(Referee: Chris Hatch)

MICHAEL OKU VS. DAVEY BLAZE

The next bout of the evening would see Michael Oku look to continue his impressive run as of late as he took on Scotland's Davey Blaze. Despite Blaze's experience, this bout would very much act as a showcase for the technical ability of Michael Oku. As the match wore on we'd see Aaron Chalmers walking around the ringside area. Despite this distraction however, Oku managed to trap Blaze in a single leg crab for the submission!

Shepherd: And the winner of the match Michael Oku!

The crowd cheers as the announcement is made. After having his arm raised Michael Oku leaves the ring and walks around the ringside area. Aaron Chalmers backs away from him as Oku stops before his girlfriend Amira. Just as Oku and Amira can share a celebration kiss, he is blindsided by Adam Maxted who came through the crowd. Hopping the rail, Maxted drives Oku into the barricade. Aaron Chalmers meanwhile rushes round the ringside area and looks to join in. Hoping to save her boyfriend, Amira climbs the barricade only to be held back by Maxted while Aaron Chalmers puts the boots to her boyfriend before her eyes. Security and officials arrive on the scene as Chalmers and Maxted make a swift exit through the crowd.
~ ANNOUNCEMENTS ~

2e380f9cef816eee1562df7083772e16.gif

Following her earlier appearance on making her way to the building. The cameras now focus on Tegan Nox as she leaves the Guvnor's office. Nox seems to be in relatively high spirits as she looks right into the camera and begins to speak to the crowd in attendance and watching at home. Saying that today she had a meeting with Anthony Ogogo regarding her future with the brand as she of course is still unable to compete for the women's championship. Tegan says that her and Anthony have spoken on some other opportunities for her and she has been granted a week to consider those options before announcing her decision next week.
~ ENRAGED ~

Just before the main event of tonight, the cameras once more direct us to the corridor where this time it is Simon Miller standing by with Kassius Ohno. The Commonwealth champion reveals that he has just arrived to the building having visited Doug Williams. Saying that physically Doug will recover in time but mentally and emotionally is a different story. Calling the wrestling business a harsh mistress which at times will test you. Ohno cannot hide his disgust at what Gabriel Kidd and Eddie Dennis did and promises he will make them pay for betraying his friend like that.
MAIN EVENT: TAG TEAM MATCH
(Senior Official: Thomas Scarborough)

LAURA DI MATTEO AND CANDY FLOSS VS. AUSTRALIA'S HOTTEST COMMODITIES (INDI HARTWELL AND PERSIA PIROTTA)

The Main event of the evening would be women's tag team action and this would be a grudge match from the fall out of the brawl during last week's show. This would be quite the hard hitting and back and forth contest with both teams at points really testing the leniency of referee Thomas Scarborough. As the match wore on we'd see Candy Floss put it all on the line with a big suicide dive on Persia Pirotta while in the ring Indi Hartwell found herself trapped by an armbar by Laura Di Matteo. Unfortunately the match is soon thrown out when Lana Austin and Nina Samuels quickly hit the ring and start putting the boots to Laura Di Matteo. This leads to the referee calling for the bell.

Shepherd: The winners of the match as a result of a disqualification Laura Di Matteo and Candy Floss.

The crowd erupts into boos as Nina Samuels and Lana Austin continue to stomp on Laura Di Matteo in the center of the ring. Rolling under the ropes and into the ring Candy Floss on rising to her feet is blasted with a big boot to the jaw by Indi Hartwell. Hartwell is soon joined by Persia Pirotta and this four on two beat down continues in the ring. Rushing out from the back is Santana Garrett who looks to even the odds for Candy Floss and Laura Di Matteo. Unfortunately while Santana Garrett was able to land a few strikes on The House of Couture and Australia's Hottest Commodities, a spear from Persia Pirotta soon grounded her and allowed Lana Austin to pounce on Garrett with a series of punches. This would be until a chair wielding Katarina Leigh rushed down to the ring. Quickly the House of Couture and Australia's Hottest Commodities would flee the ring as Katarina slid under the ropes with the chair. Standing in the ring Katarina would help Laura, Candy and Santana to their feet as the show would come to a close!
