WWE Summerslam Build Up

Monday Night Raw
Main Event Scene

WWE Championship
Jeff Hardy vs. the Undertaker
*The Jeff Hardy / Undertaker feud was really heating up, with Undertaker costing Jeff another match, this one a Six Man Tag Match where Hardy was on Londrick’s side as they went up against the UKonnection. When it seemed as though Jeff would pick up the win over Burchill with a Twist of Fate, Taker’s music hit as Jeff went to the ropes closest to the entrance ramp, only for Taker not to come out. Burchill then rolled Hardy up and got the tights, getting the Englishman a huge win over the champ. The next week, Jeff was victorious against DH Smith, and surprisingly Taker didn’t even try to distract Jeff. Later in the night, it was Brother vs. Brother, as Undertaker faced his brother Kane. Jeff made the save for Kane after Randy Orton interference and the show ended with Taker and Jeff brawling. Jeff faced Orton the next week in a non title match in the main event, where the Undertaker was at ringside. Just when it looked like Jeff would get the victory with a Swanton Bomb, Taker got up from his seat near the announce table and pushed Hardy off, resulting in a disqualification. Taker and Orton kept on the assault, and an attempted save from Kane failed, as Taker nailed Jeff with a Last Ride, and to end the last Raw before Summerslam, Taker posed with Jeff’s title, having the clear edge before the match.

Randy Orton vs. Kane
*After Kane cost Randy Orton the WWE Title at the Great American Bash, Orton had been seeking vengeance, also for what happened the night after on Raw when he was given a Chokeslam and a Tombstone Piledriver. The next week on Raw, Kane returned to action, as he faced the jobbing tag team of Cantino in a two on one handicap match. Kane decimated the two up and comers, finishing the match with a huge Tombstone Piledriver to Carlito. After the match, however, things took a turn for the bad for Kane, as Randy ambushed Kane after the match, hitting him across the head with a steel chair and finishing him off with an RKO. The next week, Kane was booked to be in a match against his ‘brother’ the Undertaker, and once again, Orton interfered, resulting in the match to be a no contest. Orton and Kane went off brawling, although Kane took the advantage because of his bigger demeanour, and he ended up Chokeslamming Orton on the steel ramp way. After having three weeks off from competition, Orton was forced to wrestle 6 days before Summerslam, and it was against none other than his opponent from the Bash and the WWE Champion, Jeff Hardy! Orton looked like losing to Hardy, but ended up only getting disqualified after the Undertaker interfered on Orton’s behalf. Kane attempted to help Jeff, but ended up getting an RKO for his troubles.

Midcard Scene
Intercontinental Championship
Rey Mysterio vs. Finlay
*Finlay had his troubles with MVP in the weeks leading up to and following the Great American Bash, which led to a Street Fight eight nights after the Bash, in which Finlay decimated the brash superstar, destroying his leg with multiple shillelagh and chair shots. Finlay got a mixed reaction as he showed no remorse what so ever. Later on that night, Rey Mysterio was talking backstage with cruiserweights such as Cody Rhodes, Nunzio and Jamie Noble about Hornswoggle and how he used to be the champion. Rey was talking about how he was sorry for Hornswoggle and such, when all of a sudden, Finlay came out of nowhere and assaulted Mysterio and his buddies! Many thought it was because Finlay heard the name of his son, as he went on to give Rey a Celtic Cross on the concrete floor. Rey defended his IC Championship against Elijah Burke the following week, and he successfully retained his title after a Dropping the Dime. Once again, however, Finlay assaulted Rey, this time in the ring, smashing Rey in the face with his own Intercontinental Title belt. Shane signed the match later that night for Summerslam with the title on the line. During these weeks, Finlay has had various run ins with the UKonnection, although Finlay says he can fight on his own.

Hardcore Match
Tommy Dreamer vs. Chavo Guerrero
*Ever since Guerrero eliminated Dreamer in the Intercontinental Championship Battle Royal which was then followed by Dreamer costing Chavo, the two have been neck and neck. Weapons have been involved in this feud, such as ladders, tables, steel chairs, Singapore canes, and what Dreamer introduced the last Monday before Summerslam, a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire. Chavo and Dreamer had turns at decimating each other, one week Chavo put Dreamer through the announce table after a vicious Brainbuster DDT, and the next week, Dreamer nailing a Dreamer Valley Driver onto two stacked steel chairs. Raw General Manager Shane McMahon had had enough of the two constantly destroying each other on every edition of Raw, so he signed the match for Summerslam, but it would be a HARDCORE MATCH! Many expected Chavo to be angry since the match clearly favoured Dreamer, but Guerrero showed he shouldn’t be underestimated, as he turned the tables on Dreamer, attacking Tommy’s back with his own baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire after Chavo stunned Dreamer with a low blow.

Other Worthwhile Raw News and Notes

*The UKonnection continued to reign supreme over Raw, as DH Smith and William Regal managed to defeat Londrick in a No DQ, No Interference match, although it was under quite surprising circumstances, which will be put into more detail later. They were constantly meeting up with Finlay background and how he is from the UK, obviously trying to recruit a new member by getting into Finlay’s head.

*Londrick finally disintegrated, during their Tag Team Title match against the UKonnection. Just when it seemed as though the two were on the same page after saving Jeff Hardy from the UKonnection and even declaring they were on the same page after a few hiccups, but Kendrick eventually turned on London. Kendrick said that he deserved the CW Title shot, because he was THE Brian Kendrick (Note: When I started this thread I planned on turning him hell on London from the start, but I just added THE because I like how it has played out on Smackdown IRL).

*Also worth a note, MVP went into surgery to repair his injured leg, after his Street Fight with Finlay nine nights after the Bash. Finlay destroyed the right leg of MVP, using his shillelagh to destroy MVP, sending him out on a stretcher. MVP said that he would be back sooner than anybody in the entire universe would expect, because he is better than you.

Friday Night Smackdown
Main Event Scene

World Heavyweight Championship
Triple Threat Match
Mr. Kennedy vs. Edge vs. John Cena
*After the disputed finish after what happened the first Smackdown after the GAB with Mr. Kennedy and Edge and John Cena as the Special Guest Referee, Theodore Long changed what was originally supposed to be a singles match between the champ and John Cena into a Triple Threat match. The 3 opponents fought over the next couple of weeks, but also found themselves teaming up, with Cena and Kennedy teaming up twice in three weeks. One week after the match was signed, a 2 on 3 Handicap match was booked, with the Rated R Superstars and their master Edge going up against Cena and Kennedy. The Rated R Army lost, but on their terms, because of a disqualification after it turned into a three on two mugging. Cena faced Edge in a grudge match the next week, and after putting on a great match that was on the verge of 20 minutes, Cena hit an FU onto Edge for the victory. The World Heavyweight Champion was not at that show after he was recovering from the injuries sustained the week earlier, as he copped it much more than Cena, although Kennedy did have an interview via satellite. The next week, the three were forced to team up, as the three faced JBL, the Big Show and CM Punk, as the three Smackdown main eventers pulled out the victory, but once again, Edge laid both of his opponents out, having the advantage ahead of the huge match.

Tag Team Match
JBL/ Big Show vs. Evolution
*Batista came out the second Smackdown after the GAB, saying that after his discussion with Teddy Long last week, he had gone through so much trouble to find a partner. Before he could announce who his partner was, JBL and the Big Show came out and interrupted Batista. Before the two could even say a word, Batista attacked JBL, attempting to get revenge for what happened last week, but his attempt was thwarted by the Big Show, before ‘Time to Play the Game’ hits to a huge ovation, as HHH comes out to the entrance ramp, with sledgehammer in hand. Batista and HHH cleared house, as Batista and HHH embraced, as Batista held up the hand of his Summerslam partner! The next week, Evolution returned to action, defeating the tandem of Deuce and Domino. The Big Show was also in action, easily defeating Stevie Richards. JBL and the Big Show further destroyed Richards, Show nailing him with a Chokeslam, followed by a Clothesline from Hell by JBL. Evolution ran out and fended them off, as they helped Richards, but on the outside, Show and JBL got steel chairs, re- entered the ring and nailed both HHH and Batista. Teddy Long ordered a restraining order against the two teams, with if they hit each other, their match would be off. The next week, Evolution defeated the tag team of the Rated R Superstars, as JBL and Show were unsuccessful in the 6 Man main event (See Triple Threat Match information).

Mid Card Scene

WWE Tag Team Championships
The World’s Greatest Tag Team vs. CM Punk and Bryan Danielson
*After the confrontation five nights after the Great American Bash, CM Punk had a match the next week against Gregory Helms (with the crowd rooting for Helms), which Punk won rather easily, but in a good match. After the match, Punk got a microphone, and said that although he was unsuccessful at the Bash against Hardy, he was still looking for gold, but not singles gold. Punk said that he already had his briefcase which would ‘guarantee’ him the singles gold, so he was going for the WGGT’s tag team titles, and he challenged them to a match at Summerslam, with a partner that he would reveal very soon. The next week, the World’s Greatest Tag Team came out and accepted the challenge, as Punk came out and interrupted them. Punk said that his decision would rock the professional wrestling world, but, catching the champs off guard, said they had a match right now, in a 3 on 2 Handicap Match against the Rated R Superstars and Snitsky. Somehow, the WGGT overcame the huge odds, with Haas managing to pin Snitsky after a double Superkick from the two. After the match, however, Punk laid both of them out with his briefcase, saying he would reveal who it was next week, just 48 hours before SSlam. The time came for Punk to announce his partner the next week, as he invited the WGGT to come out and ‘welcome’ his partner. Punk said he is huge in Japan and is a former Heavyweight Champion in other promotions, and he was right behind the champs. The ‘American Dragon’ BRYAN DANIELSON! Danielson and Punk then destroyed the WGGT, Punk laying out Haas with a Tiger Driver 91, and Danielson laid out Benjamin with a Dragon Suplex, and then locked in a Cattle Mutilation to end the segment.

WWE United States Championship
Matt Hardy vs. Kofi Kingston
*This feud had really heated up in the past weeks, brewing after Hardy was decimated by Kingston after successfully defending his US Title against CM Punk. Hardy then cost Kingston his Cruiserweight Title the next night on Raw, as Kingston and Hardy then brutalised each other at every turn, Kingston laying out Hardy with his new finisher, the Jamaican Driver (Kofi’s version of the Michinoku Driver). Kofi defeated Hardcore Holly the next week on Smackdown in a squash match, as Hardy came out and the two engaged in a fierce brawl, taking them to the backstage area. A tag team match was set for the next week, with Kofi teaming up with Ken Doane, to go up against the reunited Mattitude, Shannon Moore and Matt Hardy. Doane and Kingston walked out the victors, after Kingston pinned Moore with help from Doane’s bodyguards, Justin LaRouche and Rycklon Stevens (the newly repackaged Bam Neely and known to us know, Ezekiel Jackson). Doane would face Hardy the next week in a Singles Match, which Matt won after interference from Doane’s bodyguards. Kingston once again defeated Shannon Moore, after a 450 Kick and then the Jamaican Driver. Matt then came out and the two were in a brawl again, but after a Low Blow from Kingston, Matt was laid out after another Jamaican Driver.

Other Worthwhile SD! News and Notes

*Murdoch officially turned face after their (himself and Cade) tag team match against Jesse and Festus. Cade tried to hit Festus with a chair again, but Murdoch took it out of his hands and clobbered Cade in the face. After the bell rang, Festus didn’t go back to his calm self, as it looked like the chair shot from a few weeks ago had caused ‘brain damage’.

*Since the draft back in June, Umaga still has not been seen on Smackdown, seemingly because creative staff has nothing for him. There was talk of having Armando Estrada once again as his mouthpiece and pushing Umaga to the US Title scene. Also, after blowing a spot with CM Punk which could have severely injured Punk, the Miz is not very well liked backstage.

*Also worth a note, the Highlanders have been released from the WWE. Jimmy Wang has been suspended for his first breach of the Wellness Policy, and Super Crazy is still selling his injury caused by Snitsky.

Interbrand Scene

Women’s Title
Triple Threat Match
Mickie James vs. Maria vs. Katie Lea
*The Women’s Triple Threat Match was given pretty big hype considering it was a Women’s Match, as Maria was really built up in the next weeks, due to her committing herself and improving considerably in the ring. Natalya and Katie Lea managed to defeat Maria and Michelle McCool on Raw, but Maria managed to defeat Victoria and Melina in consecutive weeks on Smackdown. Mickie James managed to defeat Neidhart in a non title match on Raw, after interference from Katie Lea backfired. In a Six Woman Tag Team Match which involved Katie Lea, Natalya and Victoria vs. Mickie, Maria and Candice Michelle, the heels walked out victorious, after Natalya pinned Candice after a Running Powerslam, which she learnt from her cousin DH Smith. On Raw the next week, another tag team match took place, with this time Mickie James and Maria walking out victorious. After complaining to Shane McMahon and Teddy Long that Natalya would have a two on one disadvantage, a Women’s Title Lumberjill match was signed for Smackdown, with Mickie defending against Katie Lea. James walked out successful, but all the heel Diva’s walked out on top, out numbering and decimating the faces. Natalya held up the Women’s Title as the crowd gave considerable heat, especially for a Women’s bout.

Other Worthwhile Interbrand News & Notes
*It was announced by the WWE that Armageddon would be replaced by No Way Out for December, as it was announced that the WWE had scrapped the February Pay Per View, and also the interactive PPV Cyber Sunday.. This was because the WWE thought that No Way Out was a distraction leading into Wrestlemania, and so it could be a clear run heading from the Rumble into Wrestlemania, No Way Out was moved. Elimination Chambers will still be held, but this time for the WWE and World Championships.

WWE SUMMERSLAM

The World’s Greatest Tag Team defeated CM Punk and the ‘American Dragon’ Bryan Danielson to retain their WWE Tag Team Titles.
*The World’s Greatest Tag Team defeated CM Punk and Bryan Danielson to retain their WWE Tag Team Titles. This victory came after Punk got pissed off at Danielson for not being able to pull out the victory, which eventually led to Punk slapping Danielson, which resulted in Danielson leaving Punk to fend for himself. One Superkick later from Benjamin, and it was over.

Finlay defeated Rey Mysterio to win the Intercontinental Championship.
*Finlay defeated Rey Mysterio, resulting in Finlay winning the Intercontinental Championship. This came after the UKonnection distracted Rey, as DH Smith came through the crowd and nailed Rey with a Brainbuster. Finlay then hit his hold finisher, the Emerald Fusion, which lead to the victory. Finlay smirked and shook hands with William Regal, officially joining the UKonnection.

Matt Hardy defeated Kofi Kingston to retain his United States Title.
The match was nothing short of an all out brawl, as the match started in the entrance way, with Kofi attacking Hardy as he made his way out. The match went from stiff to high flying in a very good match, as the two showcased their abilities. At the end of the match, Matt kicked out of Kofi’s 450 Kick, so when Kofi went for the Jamaican Driver, Matt slipped behind him and nailed a Reverse Twist of Fate for the win.

Mickie James defeated Natalya Neidhart and Maria to retain her Women’s Title.
In what was good for a Women’s Match, Mickie James pinned Natalya after a Mick Kick. Katie Lea came out with her best friend and UKonnection colleague, but was soon evicted after she got involved in the match. Natalya looked to have the match won after she locked Maria in the Sharpshooter, but Mickie came from behind of Neidhart and hit her with a Mick Kick to the back of the head to retain her title.

Tommy Dreamer defeated Chavo Guerrero in a Hardcore Match.
*Tommy Dreamer managed to defeat Chavo Guerrero in a bloody Hardcore Match. Heaps of weapons were used in this match, much like in the lead up of this feud. Some of these weapons included Kendo Sticks, Barbed Wire (lots of it), Tables, Chairs and Ladders. Chavo was busted open after a barbed wire steel chair shot to the head, and Dreamer was busted open after Barby was repeatedly driven into his skull. Dreamer won after a vicious DVD onto a barbed wire board.

The Reformed Cabinet defeated Evolution via pinfall.
JBL and the Big Show managed to defeat Batista and Triple H, after Batista turned on his mentor once again and pulverized HHH with a chair. The ref tried to take the chair away from Batista, thinking he would hit JBL, but he hit HHH at the 7 minute mark, making it not a very good or long match. The referee couldn’t call for a DQ as it was his own partner, as JBL picked up the scraps and got the pin. Batista then hit HHH with a Spinebuster on the chair, saying “I don’t need your help”.

Randy Orton defeated Kane via interference and pinfall.
Randy Orton defeated Kane via pinfall, but under some shocking circumstances. After the referee was knocked down after a very good match, to the shock of everyone, MVP came charging down the ramp on his crutches, and nailed Kane in the head! Porter showed that he was fine by walking perfectly, as Randy smirked at his supposed newly found partner, and one RKO later, the referee revived and counted the three. After the match, the boots were laid into Kane, and RKO and MVP nailed Kane with their respective finishers.

Jeff Hardy defeated the Undertaker to retain his WWE Title.
Jeff Hardy defeated the Undertaker in a really good match to retain his WWE Title, which is Hardy’s first ever PPV title defence. After a 20 minute match and Match of the Night, both men managed to kick out of each other’s respective first and secondary finishers. Undertaker looked to put Jeff away with a top rope Chokeslam, but Jeff managed to reverse the attempt which would have most likely cost him his WWE Title, and he hit a top rope Twist of Fate for the victory.

Mr. Kennedy defeated Edge and John Cena to retain his World Heavyweight Championship.
After some huge build on Smackdown including a huge main event, it finally came down to this, and it didn’t disappoint. There were various near falls and break up pins, with Cena and Edge being a millisecond away from once again being champ. In the end, however, Mr. Kennedy reigned supreme, once again pinning Edge after a Mic Check. The show ended with Mr. Kennedy on the top rope, holding his World Heavyweight Title up high in the air.

I have decided that I will do the Big PPV’s by themselves and the small PPV’s in between them together and not with as much detail.

Unforgiven Lead Up
Monday Night Raw

WWE Championship
Handicap Match
If Orton/ MVP win, Orton is champion.
Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton/ MVP
One night after Summerslam, Randy Orton and MVP attacked the WWE Champion Jeff Hardy after he was making a victory speech about his first successful PPV title defence, and talking about his next challenger, who was unknown. Randy then got a microphone after hitting a second RKO, as he said he would be cashing in his rematch clause at Unforgiven, and the stipulation was a handicap match! Over the next few weeks, the three continued bickering with the Two Man Dynasty, as Orton and MVP continued to pick up victories. In the last week before Unforgiven, Jeff Hardy defeated MVP, but once again, he was left laying by the Two Man Dynasty after a Playa’s Boot and an RKO combination.

Brother vs. Brother
The Undertaker vs. Kane
After being inactive for one week after the assault handed to him at Summerslam by Orton and MVP, a tag team match was booked for the next week, with Kane and a mystery partner up against the Two Man Dynasty. To the shock of everyone, his partner turned out to be his brother the Undertaker! Just when it looked like Taker was over his heel turn, Taker turned on his brother, nailing a Last Ride and letting Orton pick up the scraps. Kane attacked Taker the next week after his victory over Tommy Dreamer, as the two got under each other’s skin. The two monsters had to be separated 6 days before Unforgiven, and it promised to be an all out brawl.

For the Tag Team and Intercontinental Titles
Six Man Tag Team Match
UKonnection (minus Regal) vs. Chris Jericho/ John Morrison/ Rey Mysterio
Chris Jericho turned face once again, as he seemed to show respect for John Morrison after a match just before Summerslam. The next week, he completed his turn by saving Morrison and Mysterio after a 4 on 2 beat down from the UKonnection. Jericho and Morrison became a team and pursued the Tag Team Titles, as Mysterio chased the IC Title that he was cheated from. The match was announced as Regal began to take a non competing type of role in the UKonnection, becoming more of a mouthpiece. Mysterio and Morrison defeated DH Smith and Finlay in a non title match official. The clause was that if Mysterio, Morrison and Y2J won, the person who got the pinfall would become IC Champ and the two others would become tag champs.

Cruiserweight Championship
Paul London vs. The Brian Kendrick
After turning on his former partner for several years, Kendrick chased London’s Cruiserweight Title, as it became a key figure on the Raw brand, although it was still classified as an inter brand title. Kendrick picked up a win over Jamie Noble to become the number 1 Contender for London’s Cruiserweight Title for Unforgiven. The match promised to be a high flying classic because of the history and chemistry between the two men, as London looked to be heading with an advantage, after beating his former partner in a tag team match after a 450 Splash from the top rope. Noble was London’s partner while Nunzio was The Brian Kendrick’s.

Friday Night Smackdown

World Heavyweight Championship
Mr. Kennedy vs. John Cena
The Smackdown after Summerslam was in Mr. Kennedy’s hometown of Green Bay, Wisconsin. Kennedy would have the chance to add more gold to his list, as he and John Cena would team up to face the WGGT in a title match, with Kennedy’s dad in first row seats. Cena turned heel on this night, surprisingly attacking Kennedy’s dad, which led to a huge brawl between Kennedy and Cena, giving the WGGT the win by count out. Teddy Long made the match for Unforgiven, as Cena explained that he attacked Kennedy’s dad to get a one on one shot at the World Title, and as an ‘apology’, Cena offered Kennedy’s dad front row seats to Unforgiven. Cena went on to beat Shelton Benjamin, and the next week, Kennedy defeated the Big Show. A contract signing was set for the next week, where another scuffle broke out and the two had to be separated by security.

Grudge Match
Batista vs. Triple H
After what happened at Summerslam between Batista and Triple H, Teddy Long questioned his friend Batista as to why he did it, as Batista screamed at Teddy and blew him off. It was announced that HHH would have two weeks off to recover from his injury that he sustained from the hands of Batista. 11 nights after Summerslam, Batista mowed through The Miz, and he announced that he would answer Teddy Long’s question next week, but he had a question of his own for HHH, whether he would accept his challenge for a one on one match at Unforgiven. The match became official the next week, as when Batista looked to hit his General Manager and former friend Teddy Long with a Spinebuster, HHH came running out and smashed Batista with his sledgehammer, before accepting the challenge. The two were then forced into a tag team match the next week, where they surprisingly beat Deuce and Domino. Batista laid out HHH after the match.

United States Championship
Fatal 4 Way Match
Matt Hardy vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Ken Doane w/ Rycklon and LaRouche vs. Umaga w/ Armando Estrada
Matt Hardy found many challengers for his WWE United States Championship, one being former Number 1 Contender Kofi Kingston, and the other two being two new challengers in Ken Doane and the returning Umaga. Doane had his two new bodyguards by his side, while Umaga was flanked by his former mouthpiece and once again manager, Armando Estrada. The three of them won three different qualifying matches in the same night, with Kofi defeating Hardcore Holly, Doane beating the Miz, and Umaga defeating the returning Super Crazy. Umaga had a tweener role in this feud, as he and Hardy teamed up to face the two remaining competitors, as the faces came out victorious. 6 days before his defence, Matt was given the week off as his three challengers went at it in a Triple Threat match, which Doane won.

Grudge Match
CM Punk vs. Bryan Danielson
After their fall out at Summerslam after Danielson turned on Punk in their WWE Tag Team Title Match, Bryan Danielson and CM Punk have been neck and neck. Punk attacked Danielson backstage after he was being interviewed by Todd Grisham about what happened at Summerslam, throwing him into various objects backstage as Grisham called for help. Danielson had his first singles match the next week, and he managed to defeat Curt Hawkins after a Dragon Suplex. Punk tried to attack Bryan once again after the match, only to be locked in a Cattle Mutilation. Punk and Danielson were bought in a one on one contest the next week, which would hopefully settle their feud, but that didn’t work, as it went to a double count out. A rematch was signed for Unforgiven, and so no ‘funny business’ happened, both were banned out of the arena 2 days before Unforgiven, but both had satellite interviews, where they both promised to destroy the other.

No Mercy Build Up
Raw

WWE Championship
Scramble Match
Jeff Hardy(c) vs. Undertaker vs. Kane vs. Randy Orton vs. MVP
Much like his brother Matt Hardy had before Unforgiven, the WWE Champion Jeff Hardy had many challengers coming his way after successfully retaining his WWE Title at Unforgiven. The Brothers of Destruction had a match against each other for the Number 1 Contendership, only for Randy Orton and MVP to interrupt, saying they were cheated out of the title. Shane McMahon came out and announced that they had ran out of time on the broadcast, but he would give his decision next week. Shane said that he had come up with a new concept, the Scramble Match, which had a twenty minute time limit, and had five men. The champion would start out the match along with another challenger, and every five minutes, a new challenger would come in, and the last person to get a pinfall would be the champ. Over the next 2 weeks, all 5 men were in matches, with a Fatal 4 Way match with the challengers being held 2 weeks before NM, which Orton won. The next week in a 3 on 2 Handicap match, Hardy and Kane won after Kane pinned MVP.

Intercontinental Championship
Chris Jericho vs. Finlay(c)
After not being pinned in the Six Man Tag Team match at Unforgiven, Chris Jericho went straight to UKonnection member Finlay, who also happened to be the IC Champion. Jericho wanted to add another IC Championship reign, so he went after Finlay after defeating his friend John Morrison in a Number 1 Contender’s Match 8 nights after Unforgiven. The next week, Rey Mysterio cashed in his one on one match rematch clause after never getting the one on one match that was in the contract but once again, Mysterio was cost the Intercontinental Title after interference from the UKonnection, this time from Paul Burchill coming down to the ring and hitting Rey with a C4 while the referee was down. Jericho and Mysterio then defeated Finlay and Burchill in a non title match the next week, but it was Finlay who had the advantage after laying Y2J out after a Celtic Cross after a shillelagh shot to the nuts.

Cruiserweight Championship
Two Out of Three Falls
Paul London (c) vs. The Brian Kendrick
The Brian Kendrick continued to complain, saying that he deserved the Cruiserweight Championship, and that his former partner Paul London won at Unforgiven merely by a fluke. London told his former partner to get over it, and that he was simply jealous that Kendrick didn’t have the singles accomplishments that London had had. Kendrick proved to London that he was indeed a worthy challenger, winning a 5 man inter promotional Battle Royal which also involved Jimmy Wang Yang, Super Crazy, Jamie Noble and Nunzio to become the Number 1 Contender for No Mercy. London made a request of stipulation the next week to Shane McMahon to make the match a Two out of Three Falls match to ensure no ‘flukes’, and it was accepted by both Shane and Kendrick. Kendrick managed to defeat fellow cruiserweight Cody Rhodes, while London then made a trip to Smackdown to defend his CW Title, where he successfully retained against former champion Gregory Helms.

Tag Team Grudge Match
The Puerto Rican Nightmares vs. Carlito and Santino
1 night after Unforgiven, a video package was shown on Raw, displaying the arrival of a new team on the block, the Puerto Rican Nightmares, Primo Colon and Eric Perez. One half of Cantino, Carlito Colon, was shown watching this video in the locker room, seemingly disgusted that his brother had the chance to show up and be a Superstar on Raw. The same thing happened the next week, as Carlito then cut a promo on his little brother. The Puerto Rican Nightmares then made their debut the next week to a very positive response from the crowd, as they managed to defeat the team of Cryme Tyme. After the match, Carlito and his partner Santino came out to the entrance ramp, as Carlito made the challenge to the PRN for No Mercy, which was accepted by Primo. The next week on Raw, the PNR tagged up with their opponents from the previous week, Cryme Tyme, to face Cantino, Chavo Guerrero and Elijah Burke, as Primo got the pin after a Diving Bulldog to Burke.

Smackdown

World Heavyweight Championship
Ladder Match
Mr. Kennedy (c) vs. John Cena
After a disputed finish at Unforgiven after Cena won by DQ when Kennedy attacked John with a steel chair after all the stuff that Cena did to Kennedy’s dad, Teddy Long signed a rematch for No Mercy, but under a special stipulation. It would be that the WWE Title would be suspended 15 feet in the air, and the match would be a Ladder Match! The crowd went crazy at the announcement, as John Cena was in a blockbuster main event one week after the announcement, as he went toe to toe with Triple H. Cena won after Batista interference, only for Kennedy to make the save for HHH, making the heels flee. Kennedy and Cena were on opposite sides of the ring once again, as HHH and Kennedy teamed up to face John Cena and Batista, which the faces one, only for Cena to attack Kennedy with a ladder after the match. 2 days before No Mercy, Cena destroyed some jobber with a ladder in a No Holds Barred match, as Kennedy defeated Batista after a Kenton Bomb. Cena tried to attack the champ after the match, only to get a face full of the World Heavyweight Title.

No Holds Barred
Batista vs. Triple H
After Triple H was victorious at Unforgiven against Batista, Big Dave was obviously pissed off, as e went on a rampage to get HHH back in the ring, although HHH denied Batista, because he had already proved he could beat him. Batista said that he had walked out on the company 5 days after Unforgiven, storming out of the arena, only to return the next week and cost HHH a match against John Cena. Triple H was very pissed off at his former protégé, as if HHH won that match, he would have been in line for a World Heavyweight Championship shot since Cena was Number 1 Contender. HHH then wanted his chance at revenge, so he ended up accepting Batista’s challenge for No Mercy, but he made the stipulation that if Batista lost, he would never get a one on one match with HHH again, and it would be a No Holds Barred Match. The two then got in the ring the next week in a tag team match (See Cena vs. Kennedy). Batista and HHH went off brawling, and HHH was declared the victor after Kennedy pinned Cena. The next week, HHH cut a promo on Batista in the ring, only for Tista to come out and destroy HHH with a steel chair.

WWE Tag Team Championships
The Reformed Cabinet (c) vs. WGGT
After being relatively quiet on Smackdown, The Reformed Cabinet returned to defeat the WWE Tag Team Champions the WGGT in a non title match five days after Unforgiven. In what was classified an upset the next week, the Reformed Cabinet went 2 and 0 over the World’s Greatest Tag Team, winning the WWE Tag Team Championships in the process after some miscommunication between Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas. Shelton was shocked as he was the one that lost the fall to JBL after a sneaky roll up and hook of the tights (which went unbeknownst to the referee), as Haas and Benjamin had a little argument after the match. Benjamin and Haas looked to be on the same page the next week, defeating the team of Justin LaRouche and Rycklon Stephens in a tag team match, and then announcing that they would cash in their rematch clause at No Mercy. The Big Show then lost to Shelton Benjamin after a Paydirt, but the Reformed Cabinet had the last laugh, knocking both Haas and Benjamin out.

United States Championship
Matt Hardy vs. Ken Doane(c)
After winning the United States Championship at Unforgiven in the Fatal 4 Way Match with help from his bodyguards LaRouche and Stephens, Ken Doane was over the moon. Matt Hardy came right back at Doane, looking to make Doane’s title reign a very shot one by cashing in his rematch clause the first Smackdown after he lost the title, but Matt lost after an RK- Doane. Matt then won a Triple Threat match the next week between himself, Bryan Danielson and CM Punk after pinning Punk after a Twist a Fate, making a rematch for No Mercy. Doane and Punk had a tag match against what was classified as a dream team with Matt and Danielson, but Doane picked up the win over Hardy once again after a low blow, followed by a Whiplash Neckbreaker and then a Sky High Sensation, with Doane once again outsmarting Matt. Hardy managed to defeat one of the bodyguards of Doane the next week, as Hardy defeated Rycklon after a Top Rope Leg Drop, which Cole said was ‘stealing Doane’s move’ and sending Ken a message.

Championship Scramble Match

Jeff Hardy retained his WWE Title after 20.00, after last pinning Randy Orton at the 17.30 mark, and then managed to hold on. Jeff had to last the full 20 minutes. Shawn Michaels made his return in this match to a massive pop, costing the Undertaker after hitting a Sweet Chin Music.

Hardy had just retained his WWE Title, worn out after a very hard fought battle and a gruelling 20 minutes, but he was visibly happy. Hardy got on the top rope and help up his title, before out of nowhere, from behind whilst Jeff was on the top rope, CM PUNK CAME AND SMASHED HARDY IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD WITH HIS BRIEFCASE!! Everyone in the crowd was shocked at the Smackdown Superstar hitting Raw’s Champion, as he went to the referee and handed in his briefcase. PUNK WAS CASHING IN MONEY IN THE BANK!

WWE Championship Match
Money in the Bank Cash In

Punk defeated Hardy in 1. 30, after hitting Jeff with a Tiger Driver 91 (which he calls the Straight Edge), posing to the crowd a bit, before nailing a second. Punk celebrated as the crowd poured in the heat to end the show.

I read this yesterday, and I must say, it's pure awesomeness in a can(yeah, I stole it, deal with it)

The whole deal with Batista vs HHH seems really cool and nicely put together. I wasn't expecting the return of Shawn Michaels as soon as it happened, but I guess it happens just in time to start the build up for an encounter between him and Taker at Survivor Series.

Punk's title win was completely out of nowhere, which makes it even cooler. It also works better than in real life as it happened with Punk being a heel.

I am curious on how it would have been like to see the show by show angles like the reunion of the Cabinet and the London vs Kendrick feud.

Survivor Series Build Up

Monday Night Raw

Hell in a Cell
Shawn Michaels vs. the Undertaker
Shawn Michaels returned at No Mercy in the WWE Championship Scramble Match with a vengeance, and that was to do what the Undertaker couldn’t do to him; end his career. Shawn came out to a standing ovation in his hometown of Texas one night after No Mercy, as he got ‘Welcome Back’ chants from the very vocal Texas crowd. Shawn claimed that the old dog still had life in him, and after successful back surgery, he was back. He called the Undertaker out, who got a huge negative response in his hometown. The two began bickering, as Shawn then made a proposal for the Undertaker, 11 Years in the Making; the two in a Hell in a Cell match at Survivor Series! Undertaker told Shawn he would have his answer the next week, and during HBK’s non title match against Finlay, Undertaker nailed HBK with a steel chair, and accepted the challenge. The Hell in a Cell came two weeks early as per the Undertaker’s request, as Taker made a speech from inside of the cell, sending a message to Shawn from inside the demonic structure. Six days before the huge match, Undertaker stayed home as Shawn had to face William Regal, but he was successful. Shawn swore that he would end Taker’s career to a positive response from the crowd.

WWE Championship
Two Out of Three Falls Match
CM Punk vs. Jeff Hardy
The wrestling world was still buzzing after CM Punk’s cash in of his MITB briefcase against Jeff Hardy at No Mercy, as the NEW WWE Champion opened the show to extreme heat, as he ‘thanked’ the fans for that response. Punk talked about how people may think of him as what they call a ‘paper’ champion, an undeserving champion, but he reminded the fans that he beat six other men to win the briefcase, he thought he had earned it. Jeff Hardy then came out and interrupted Punk, saying that he was a paper champion, he was an undeserving champion, and by the end of that night, he wouldn’t be champion, as he was cashing in his rematch clause. Jeff got the victory but not the championship, as after a great match, Punk hit Jeff with a low blow, resulting in a DQ. To avoid Jeff the next week, Punk made an appearance from WWE Headquarters, saying that he ‘couldn’t’ be there. Jeff made a challenge to Punk for him to defend his title in a Two out of Three Falls match at Survivor Series, which was accepted. The two would then compete in Two out of Three Fall matches over the next two weeks, as Punk defeated CW Champ Paul London and Jeff then defeated The Great Khali the next week.

3 on 3 Elimination Match
Randy Orton, MVP and Chavo Guerrero vs. Chris Jericho, Rey Mysterio and John Morrison
The Two Man Dynasty were pissed off at the result of the Championship Scramble Match and the aftermath with Punk winning the title, and they took out their frustrations on Rey Mysterio, as MVP had a match with him the next night on Raw. Rey’s buddies Y2J and John Morrison came to his aid, but were met with steel chair shots from Randy and Porter. They went on to say that the three weren’t worthy of a spot on their show, or even in their company, as Y2J and Co. then interrupted them, saying that the two should shut their mouths, as it wasn’t their company, it never was and it never would be, as they were looking at the past, present and future of the WWE. Jericho was then challenged by Orton to a 3 on 3 Classical Survivor Series Elimination Match, as Jericho accepted, as he noted that there were only two men in the ring. Orton said that he knew that there was only the two, and that between then and Survivor Series, he would announce the third man. After John Morrison got an upset over Orton, he was attacked by Chavo Guerrero, as he noted his and Rey’s past history, as he declared himself as the third man. Chavo faced Y2J the next week in a Steel Cage match to prevent interference, which was won by Jericho after a Codebreaker.

3 on 3 Elimination Match
The Puerto Rican Nightmares vs. Monty Brown, Elijah Burke and Santino Marella
One week and a night after No Mercy, Elijah Burke returned to what was his first singles match in a long time, facing Eric Perez, then one half of the Puerto Rican Nightmares. Perez won the match after a surprise roll up, keeping their undefeated streak alive. Santino and Carlito came charging down after the match had finished, and with shades of 24 hours earlier, Elijah and Cantino assaulted the Puerto Rican Nightmares, but for some reason, whilst doing this, Carlito stopped. Santino and Burke questioned what he was doing; as he went on to lay both of them out with Back Stabbers! Carlito completed his face turn the next week, saying that he couldn’t hurt his little brother, and that he was now part of the Puerto Rican Nightmares! Burke and Santino were very pissed off, as Burke went on to say that he could play games as well, and he would reveal his master plan the next week. After a singles match between former partners Carlito and Santino which Carlito won, he was attacked by a man who turned out to be none other than the Alpha Male Monty Brown! Burke announced that he had gone to Shane O Mac, and that the Elimination match was on for Survivor Series.

Friday Night Smackdown

World Heavyweight Championship
John Cena vs. Mr. Kennedy
The John Cena/ Ken Kennedy feud, which had been going on since before Summerslam, began to really heat up once again after Cena cut Kennedy’s reign short at No Mercy in the Ladder Match. Cena was in the main event of the next Smackdown with a match against Shelton Benjamin, and after a very entertaining match, Cena picked up the victory with an FU. After the match, Cena cut a promo on Kennedy, but before he could say a word, Kennedy came out from the crowd, turned Cena around and hit him with a Mic Check. Kennedy then said whether Cena liked it or not, he was cashing in his rematch clause for the World Title at Survivor Series. Kennedy then had a match the next week and defeated Umaga, as Cena came out and the two cut a promo with a war of words. Cena teamed up with the WWE Tag Team Champions Reformed Cabinet to face Mr. Kennedy and the Mexicools (more on them later), as the champions won the match after an FU to Super Crazy. 2 days before the huge match, the two would pick each other’s poison, as Cena defeated Bryan Danielson and Kennedy defeated Justin LaRouche and Rycklon Stephens in a handicap match (after some interference from Jesse and Festus).

WWE Tag Team Championships
The Reformed Cabinet vs. the Mexicools
After retaining their WWE Tag Team Championships at No Mercy against the World’s Greatest Tag Team, the Reformed Cabinet claimed that there was no one that could take their Tag Titles off of them, even though they had only defended them once. Super Crazy then came out and spoke in Mexican, before shocking everyone by translating into English, saying he had found a partner, and they could beat them in a Tag Team Title Match. Without even revealing who it was, JBL and the Big Show pondered who it could be, as they came out the next week and successfully defended their titles against Jesse and Festus. As they beat down on the Daltons, ‘We’re not Mexican, We’re Mexicool’ hit to a huge response, as Super Crazy and Psicosis made their return! The high flying duo laid the much larger tandem out with their high flying acrobatics. The Mexicools then teamed up with Mr. Kennedy to face the Reformed Cabinet and John Cena, but their returns were unsuccessful, as the World Champion nailed Crazy with an FU for the victory. The match was official for Survivor Series as announced on wwe.com, and the next week, Psicosis won his first singles match back against JBL after a Top Rope Leg Drop, but the Reformed Cabinet decimated their much shorter rivals after the match.

Last Man Standing Match
Triple H vs. Batista
After Batista’s victory in the No Holds Barred match, their series was tied at 1 a piece, and both men wanted to one up the other, so they surprisingly agreed on having a rubber match. Teddy Long added the match to Survivor Series as soon as he heard the proposition in an attempt to beat Raw, but he said that a stipulation would be determined the next week, as the two would compete in matches and whoever got the quickest time would pick the stipulation. Batista faced Umaga and defeated him in an impressive time of 7.48, but HHH would end up picking the stipulation after winning in a controversial 7.47 against Snitsky. HHH said that he would keep Batista waiting and announce the stipulation the next week on Smackdown, as HHH played mind games with Batista. HHH then announced the next week that the stipulation was one of the most brutal and would make it go down to who really was the better man, as he made the match a Last Man Standing Match! Batista surprisingly smirked at the stipulation, and with 48 hours to go before Survivor Series, Batista defeated Smackdown’s Resident Redneck (or should that read Jobber) Jimmy Wang Yang in a Last Man Standing match after a Batista Bomb through a table.

3 on 3 Elimination Match
Ken Doane, Rycklon Stephens and Justin LaRouche vs. Gregory Helms, Jesse and Festus
Gregory Helms turned face on an edition of Smackdown, interrupting a Ken Doane victory celebration on the first Smackdown after No Mercy. Helms said he was sick and tired of Doane calling himself ‘Simply Sensational’ and a Natural Born Talent, hyping himself up by running his mouth. Helms exclaimed that he was coming for Doane’s US Title, and he would get it very soon. As Helms turned his back, Doane and his bodyguards Rycklon and Stephens attacked Gregory, as Doane finished Helms off with an RK- Doane. The next week, Helms charged into Teddy Long’s office, saying that he wanted a piece of Doane, whether it is for the title or not. Teddy told him that he had just signed another match for the Smackdown side of Survivor Series, with Helms and two partners of his choosing against Doane and his bodyguards. With nine days before Survivor Series, after Doane successfully defended his US Title against Trevor Murdoch, Helms came out, but wasn’t alone, as he came out with Jesse and Festus! The three cleared house of Doane and Co., as Helms announced that he had found his partners. Doane and Helms had a match the next week for the US Title, a match which Doane won. Jesse and Festus then cost Rycklon and Stephens a match against Ken Kennedy, much to the delight of the fans.

Inter Promotional Matches

Brand Supremacy
The UKonnection vs. the WGGT, Matt Hardy and Bryan Danielson
In what was coming seemingly an annual thing, Teddy Long appeared on Raw, as he approached Raw GM Shane McMahon about a proposition for Survivor Series, and that proposition was a Brand Supremacy match at Survivor Series. McMahon accepted the proposal, as he went off looking for the 4 candidates that would represent Raw. The next week on Raw, Shane announced that he had looked very carefully at the Raw roster, and said he was looking for a team that could work as a unit, and announced that Raw’s representatives were the UKonnection. Teddy Long had qualifying matches instead on the next Smackdown, and after 3 matches (one was a tag match), the Smackdown team turned out to be the WGGT, Matt Hardy and his good friend Bryan Danielson. Teddy Long and Shane O Mac agreed to the stipulation that the 8 members could openly cross between the brands, as all 8 men had various matches over both Raw and Smackdown, with an even amount of victories for both brands, as a rubber match took place on the last Smackdown, which was a Lumberjack Match between Bryan Danielson and William Regal with the 6 other competitors as lumberjacks. This match saw Danielson come out the victor and give Smackdown the advantage.

No Way Out Build Up

Monday Night Raw

WWE Championship
Elimination Chamber
CM Punk vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Paul Burchill vs. Randy Orton vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Kane
CM Punk came out the night after SS and proclaimed himself as unstoppable, as he had managed to defeat Jeff Hardy in the 2 out of 3 Falls Match. This caused Shane O Mac to come out and say that the next PPV was No Way Out, where the two main events were Elimination Chambers for the respective main event titles. McMahon went on to say that there was heaps of men in the back who wanted a shot at Punk, so starting from tonight and going through to next week, qualifying matches would take place. Paul Burchill won a match containing the other three UKonnection guys after what was surprisingly a competitive match, HBK defeated MVP, Orton defeated Chris Jericho, Kane defeated The Brian Kendrick and former champ Jeff Hardy won a Battle Royal (against various other Raw Superstars. He last eliminated the Cruiserweight Champion Paul London) to all qualify for the Elimination Chamber. Over the last two weeks, all 6 men competed in various matches, all getting a victory over one another. Shawn was the last man standing after a huge brawl occurred on the last Raw, as he posed with the WWE Title, which after Sunday, he may hold in another title reign of his already storied career.

World Tag Team Championships
Fatal Four Way Tag Team Match
The UKonnection (Regal and Smith) vs. Puerto Rican Nightmares (Primo and Perez) vs. Elijah Burke and Monty Brown vs. Cryme Tyme
In a Triple Threat Tag Team qualifying match 8 nights after Survivor Series, the Puerto Rican Nightmares looked to defeat Cryme Tyme and their rivals Burke and Brown, until the UKonnection came running down to the ring and attacked the young duo. The referee called for the bell, as the UKonnection all three teams. Shane O Mac came charging out onto the ramp, and announced if UKonnection wanted some competition, they had found it, as at the next Pay Per View No Way Out, it would be the UKonnection vs. the Puerto Rican Nightmares vs. Burke and Brown vs. Cryme Tyme in a Fatal Four Way First Fall to a Finish Tag Team Title Match! The UKonnection were pissed off, and it was announced the next week that the competing members would be William Regal and DH Smith, as Burchill was in the EC and Finlay had his own match. The Puerto Rican Nightmares also announced that the original pair of Primo and Perez would compete. In a Fatal 4 Way match the next week, Primo Colon pinned DH Smith after a Frog Splash, getting the Puerto Rican Nightmares the ever important victory.

Intercontinental Championship
Finlay vs. Chris Jericho
Chris Jericho continued chasing the Fighting Irishman Finlay’s Intercontinental Championship, but was constantly being screwed out of the title which he has won so many times. During Jericho’s Elimination Chamber qualifier against Randy Orton 1 night after Survivor Series, Finlay came out and nailed Jericho in the back with his IC Title as he was coming off the ropes, costing Jericho the match. The next week, Jericho defeated Finlay’s UKonnection colleague DH Smith in a Number 1 Contender’s match to have the right to face Finlay at No Way Out for his Intercontinental Championship. Finlay and Chris Jericho were then involved in a singles matches against an opponent of the other’s choosing (in other words Pick Your Poison), as Finlay picked The Great Khali for Jericho, and Jericho picked Finlay’s friend DH Smith to be his own opponent, trying to make the UKonnection disintegrate! Both men won their respective matches, although it was under dubious circumstances for Finlay and much to the disappointment of Jericho, as Smith simply lay down for Finlay so he could get the pin, and Jericho had to put in the hard yards against the 7 foot 3 colossus! The next week, they were shown brawling in the back, as they were eager to get each other before NWO, and had to be restrained by security.

Friday Night Smackdown

World Heavyweight Championship
Elimination Chamber
John Cena vs. Mr. Kennedy vs. JBL vs. the Big Show vs. Batista vs. US Champ Ken Doane
Teddy Long said that Smackdown already had their main event covered for No Way Out as the Elimination Chamber was set, but it was just a matter of who the challengers would be for John Cena’s title. Like Raw, the qualifying matches would spread over two weeks of programming. Surprisingly, the first man to enter the Chamber was none other than US Champ Ken Doane, after he defeated Charlie Haas in a qualifying match. After the match, Doane said that he was looking for more gold and looked to add it at No Way Out. The Reformed Cabinet defeated the team of Matt Hardy and Bryan Danielson to both qualify, as a recently turned face Batista and former champion Mr. Kennedy also qualified in their respective matches against Kofi Kingston and Edge. Batista turned face as all of the heels in the EC were beating down on Kennedy, as Batista came charging out, seemingly to attack Kennedy, but instead, he hit Cena with a Spear and then cleaned house. With 9 days left before NWO, Batista and Kennedy defeated JBL and the Big Show in a tag team match, as Cena and Doane had a Champion vs. Champion match the next week (48 hours before NWO), which went to a no contest after the other 4 men interrupted proceedings. Doane waited for all of them to get pummelled as he picked up the scraps by attacking the last man standing, Mr. Kennedy, giving Doane the advantage.

Grudge Match
Matt Hardy vs. Bryan Danielson
Matt Hardy and the American Dragon Bryan Danielson formed a tag team after Danielson and Punk’s fallout, even teaming together to represent Smackdown in the Brand Supremacy match. The two would team up to face the Reformer Cabinet in a Tag Team EC Qualifying Match, but just when it looked like Matt would pick up the victory for his team, Danielson went into the ring and nailed Hardy with a Dragon Suplex! The crowd was shocked at Danielson’s turn, as he held onto the Full Nelson, before hitting Hardy with a further two Dragon Suplexes! Danielson explained that he had done so much in his short tenure in the WWE, but washed up ‘veterans’ like Matt Hardy were stealing his spotlight. He then challenged Matt to a singles match for No Way Out, which was accepted immediately by Matt, who then charged to the ring. Danielson would team up with the Rated R Superstars the next week to face Matt Hardy and the World’s Greatest Tag Team, as Matt and WGGT picked up the win after a Twist of Fate from Matt to Curt Hawkins got the three count for the victory. With two days left before NWO, Matt Hardy defeated the ‘Samoan Bulldozer’ Umaga, but after the match, he was attacked by Danielson, who hit Matt with a Dragon Suplex.

Grudge Match
Edge vs. Triple H
An Edge and Triple one on one match was imminent after Edge’s return and consequent attack on Triple H during his Last Man Standing match against Batista, which ended up costing HHH the match. Edge had his return match on the Smackdown after SS, losing to former rival Mr. Kennedy after interference from HHH. Triple H had come out with a bandage on his forehead, and cost Edge the match after hitting him with a Pedigree. HHH looked to continue his assault on Edge, only to be hit with a low blow as Edge then fled the ring, as the ‘Cerebral Assassin’ invited Edge back into the ring. As Triple H cut a promo on Edge the next week, the ‘Rated R Superstar’ attacked Triple H from behind, before nailing him with a Spear, as he then delivered rights and lefts to the skull of HHH. Edge then brought in his trusty steel chairs, as he placed a steel chair under the head of HHH, before getting the other one and nailing HHH with a con chair to! Edge then repeated this action 4 times, as he raised the dinted chair to extreme heat from the crowd. HHH was kept home the next week, as Teddy Long announced that Edge and Triple H would go head to head at No Way Out in a singles match. Edge squashed former Tag Team Champion Hardcore Holly 2 days before No Way Out in literally just over a minute after hitting Holly with a Spear. When he looked to hit Holly with a con chair to, HHH came out with his trusty sledgehammer, nailing Edge in the ribs, before hitting him with a Pedigree.

So yeah, LOL, sorry for any confusion.

Royal Rumble Build Up

Inter Promotional

30 Man Royal Rumble Match
The annual 30 Man Over the Top Rope Battle Royal would continue at the Royal Rumble, as one lucky WWE Superstar, either from Raw or Smackdown, would have the right to face the WWE or World Heavyweight Champion at Wrestlemania 25. There would be an even amount of Raw and Smackdown superstars, with 15 each. Like previous years, there would be no returning or surprise superstars, with one person from Raw missing, as speculation arose on Raw about who the mystery competitor could be. The Royal Rumble match would have 29 competitors leading into the night but have 30 competitors in the match, as the final spot would be confirmed earlier on in the night. Qualifying matches started the night after No Way Out on Raw, and continued since then. There were many Interbrand matches heading into the Royal Rumble to hype up one of the biggest WWE matches in history, with big matches like Ken Kennedy vs. Shawn Michaels, Ken Doane vs. Kane for the US Title and Matt Hardy vs. Randy Orton all taking place. Doane, Orton and Kennedy all won these respective matches. Raw and Smackdown superstars also teamed up, but would disintegrate during the match to try and get the upper hand for the Rumble match. Champion vs. Champion matches also took place, with UKonnection facing the Mexicools (UKonnection won), Ken Doane vs. Finlay (Ken Doane) and the World Champions colliding with CM Punk vs. John Cena, which went to a no contest after their respective challengers interfered. A huge 14 on 14 brawl took place on the last Smackdown before the Rumble as Raw’s competitors invaded Smackdown, which caused an all out brawl. The WWE once again hyped this match up as the most star studded Royal Rumble ever, but once you looked at the competitors, it was hard to disagree. The competitors in this match were Shawn Michaels, Rey Mysterio, Randy Orton, MVP, Kane, Cruiserweight Champ Paul London, The Brian Kendrick, Carlito, Monty Brown, Elijah Burke, Carlito, William Regal, DH Smith, John Morrison, Raw’s surprise Superstar, JBL, Matt Hardy, Ken Kennedy, Curt Hawkins, Zack Ryder, Shelton Benjamin, Umaga, Gregory Helms, Big Show, US Champion Ken Doane, Kofi Kingston, Charlie Haas, Bryan Danielson, WWE Tag Champ Super Crazy and the one last qualifier for Smackdown in the match earlier in the night.

Monday Night Raw

WWE Championship
Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match
CM Punk vs. Jeff Hardy
After once again cheating to beat Jeff Hardy in the Elimination Chamber at No Way Out, Shane McMahon announced that since Punk couldn’t prove that he could beat Jeff Hardy cleanly or at 100%, there would be a rematch at the Royal Rumble. He announced that the match would be for Punk’s WWE Championship, and it would be under Hardy’s stipulation. Hardy defeated MVP the next week on Raw in the main event, as Punk looked to attack Hardy, as he hit him with a Straight Edge! Punk then went outside and got a steel chair from the timekeeper, as he looked to hit Jeff with the chair, but Hardy ducked under it, ran onto the top rope and hit a Whisper in the Wind with the chair crashing into Punk’s head! Hardy then went outside, as he slid a table into the ring followed by a ladder, as Jeff placed Punk on the table, went to the top of the ladder and nailed Punk with a Swanton Bomb off the ladder through a table! The crowd went crazy, and when Hardy had recovered, he announced that at the Rumble, it would be TLC! Punk then went one on one with Smackdown’s champion John Cena, but it went to a no contest after Hardy and John Cena’s challenger for the Royal Rumble interfered. The next week on Raw, with 6 days left before the Royal Rumble, CM Punk requested that he was in a TLC match, as he ran through Tommy Dreamer with ease. Hardy then ran out to save Dreamer from an assault, as Punk went straight to Hardy. Jeff was in a more comfortable environment, as he ducked under Punk and nailed him with a near-by steel chair. Hardy then nailed Punk with a Twist of Fate onto the steel chair, as he posed with the WWE Championship that was once his.

Intercontinental Championship
Last Chance Match
If Finlay is DQ’ed or Counted Out, he loses the title.
Finlay vs. Chris Jericho
Chris Jericho defeated Finlay at No Way Out by a disqualification, meaning that he did not gain the Intercontinental Championship. Jericho went straight to Shane McMahon the next night on Raw, but Shane O Mac said that Jericho had to prove himself, as although he had been cheated out of the title, he had had heaps of chances at regaining the Intercontinental Championship for the ninth time. Jericho was then forced to be in a 1 on 3 Handicap Match against the three remaining UKonnection, and somehow, Jericho came out the victor, as the UKonnection seemed to just want to soften up Chris for Finlay, as Finlay came out and the 4 of them quadruple teamed Jericho. Jericho then had his Intercontinental Title match the next week, but when the match just started, Finlay left the ring to get counted out. The Raw General Manager then came out, announcing that a rematch would take place at the Royal Rumble, but it would have two stipulations. The first stipulation was that it would be Jericho’s Last Chance to regain the IC Title as Finlay was champion, but the last stipulation was that if Finlay was counted out or disqualified, he would lose the title! With 2 days left before the Rumble, Finlay defeated Primo Colon, while Jericho defeated Monty Brown. Finlay attacked Jericho after the match, knocking him out with the shillelagh.

Friday Night Smackdown

World Heavyweight Championship
John Cena vs. Batista
After successfully retaining his World Heavyweight Title in the Elimination Chamber at No Way Out, Cena found himself without a challenger for the Royal Rumble. The five challengers from the Elimination Chamber went at it in an Over the Top Rope Battle Royal, and after last eliminating Mr. Kennedy, Batista was declared the victor and the Number 1 Contender. Cena and Batista had a stare down after the match, as the dream match was signed for the Rumble with the title on the line. Cena faced Matt Hardy in a non title match the next week, and after Batista’s music hit, Matt Hardy rolled Cena up and got a huge win! Batista simply smirked, and he even showed up on Raw the next week with Jeff Hardy and interfered in the Champion vs. Champion match. On the Smackdown 4 nights later, Cena opened the show, promising to get back at Batista and promised to retain his World Title at the Royal Rumble. After Batista’s victory in the main event of that night’s Smackdown against former rival the seven foot tall Big Show, Cena came from behind of Batista and nailed him with the World Title across the forehead! Cena went a step further in an attempt to get at Batista, locking him in an STF-U, and was unrelenting in breaking the hold, as Batista’s face went beetroot red. Teddy Long announced that the next week, there would a contract signing with Batista and John Cena both in the ring at the same time to make their match at the Royal Rumble official. Like what always happens during a contract signing, tempers flared, and Cena tried to attack Batista behind his back, only for Batista to nail Cena with a huge Spinebuster!

Royal Rumble Qualifying Match
No Disqualifications
Triple H vs. Edge
Triple H and Edge continued their personal feud, as one night after No Way Out in which they went to a no contest; Triple H had a Rumble qualifying match against Kofi Kingston, only for Edge to interfere. Edge nailed HHH with a low blow as he was coming off the ropes, which allowed Kofi to hit HHH with a 450 Kick, giving him a spot in the Rumble! Edge smirked as HHH looked at Edge, pissed off that Edge once again cost him a chance at going one step closer to gaining the World Title again. Edge then had a qualifying match against the ‘Samoan Bulldozer’ Umaga, but HHH returned the favour, coming out while the referee was down after an accidental Spear by Edge, and laid Edge out with his trusty sledgehammer! The ref revived and Umaga pinned Edge to get his spot in the Rumble, as HHH simply smirked at what he had cost Edge. The next week, HHH had an interview with Maria, as she asked what was next for Triple H and Edge. Before HHH could answer, Edge came and Speared HHH to the ground, as the two had a backstage brawl, as security came and broke it up. Edge cut an in ring promo on HHH the next week, saying that he was sick people like HHH were stealing his spotlight, it was time for them to move over. Teddy Long came out and announced that he had requested HHH to stay home, but he went on to say that Smackdown only had 14 Rumble competitors and only one exclusive match, but that would all change. Edge and HHH would compete at the Rumble in a No DQ match, and the winner would go into the Rumble!

Royal Rumble Results

Royal Rumble Qualifying Match
No Disqualifications

Triple H defeated Edge in 12.30 to qualify for the Royal Rumble match later in the night. Triple H won after a Pedigree onto a steel chair, after nailing Edge with a shot to the ribs with his trusty sledgehammer.

Intercontinental Championship
Last Chance Match

Chris Jericho FINALLY defeated Finlay in 14.20 to win the Intercontinental Championship for the ninth time. Jericho won after Finlay attempted a shillelagh shot behind the referee’s back (the referee was fixing up an exposed turnbuckle), but Y2J dodged under it and hit the Codebreaker.

World Heavyweight Championship
John Cena defeated Batista in 15.40 to once again retain his World Heavyweight Championship. The dream match didn’t disappoint, as after an exciting finish with various counters, Cena finished the Animal off with a devastating FU. Cena had kicked out of a Spinebuster and a Spear during the match, and Batista had managed to get a rope break while in the STF-U and he also kicked out of an FU.

WWE Championship
Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match

CM Punk defeated Jeff Hardy in 25.35 to successfully retain his WWE Championship. In a match with some extreme spots, including a Swanton Bomb off a ladder, a Pepsi Plunge off the top rope onto a steel chair and a Superplex through a table by Punk, CM Punk unclipped the title after Paul Burchill came down and dumped Hardy off a ladder, sending him through a table. Punk picked up the scraps by unhooking the title.

Royal Rumble Match
Winner faces a World Champ of their choosing at Wrestlemania 25

Mr. Kennedy won the Royal Rumble match in 1. 06. 50 to have the right to face a World Champion of his choosing at Wrestlemania 25. Mr. Kennedy last eliminated Triple H to win after entering at Number 1. Kennedy won after Edge interfered and Speared HHH, and when Kennedy revived, he had no idea and through HHH over the top rope to be declared the victor. The mystery man from Raw turned out to be the Undertaker, who returned to a pop from the crowd.

Okay, so that is all with the recaps, now I can start with the weekly shows. I will continue with my classic style of writing, as I think that although it is brief, it gets to the point. I will now write Smackdown also (with the same style as Raw), but I will post weekly Smackdown and Raw’s still separately.

Monday Night Raw

The show opens up with a highlight video package of what happened at the Rumble, first off with Jericho finally defeating Finlay to win the Intercontinental Championship for a record ninth time. It then cuts to highlights of the awesome TLC match, with Burchill then for some reason coming down at the end of the match when Jeff Hardy was about to reach the gold and cost Hardy the match so CM Punk could retain his title. It then shows the end of the Royal Rumble match, with Mr. Kennedy last eliminating HHH to once again get a shot at a World Title after Edge interference.

It then cuts to the live arena, with the pyrotechnic display going off, as JR and the King then welcome us to the show, as they once again talk about the 2009 Royal Rumble. King expresses his disappointment that a Raw Superstar didn’t win the Rumble, but then expresses his excitement that Wrestlemania is coming soon. JR then talks about the Rumble last night and congratulations to Ken Kennedy for winning the Royal Rumble after being the Number 1 entrant, but to the shock of JR, the King and everyone in the arena...

‘Turn up the Trouble’ hits to a huge shock pop and a huge ovation, as the 2009 Royal Rumble winner Mr. Kennedy makes his way out to the ring! JR and the King are obviously shocked, as Lillian Garcia introduces Kennedy, but she is cut off. Kennedy then does his standard entrance stuff, repeating Kennedy twice before throwing up his microphone. ‘Kennedy’ chants ring out through the arena, as he gets a microphone from Garcia, getting ready to speak. Kennedy goes to speak, but the chants are too loud, so he waits for the crowd to die down. Kennedy goes on to say that he is not here to make his announcement about who he would face, but said that since he knew Raw was in Detroit, Michigan (getting a cheap pop), he thought he would drop by. He talks about last night and says it was up there with the biggest highlights of his career, perhaps only topped by winning the World Heavyweight Championship. He says that he has the choice of choosing who he wants to face at the Grandest Stage of them All, whether it be CM Punk (boos) or his old ‘buddy’ John Cena (boos once again). He says that whoever he faces on that night of Wrestlemania 25 in Texas, the outcome would be the same, as the title was coming home to Mr. Kennedy... KENNEDY! The Royal Rumble winner goes to leave the ring, only for ‘This Fire Burns’ to play over the speakers to huge heat, as the WWE Champ CM Punk makes his way down to the ring, making Kennedy smirk and stay in the ring.

Punk says that Kennedy needs to shut his mouth, as he wasn’t the only victor last night, as he (Punk) stole the show in the TLC match. Punk said that Kennedy better choose wisely about who he would face at Wrestlemania, because if he chose Punk, he would be going home with no gold! Punk talks about what he did to Jeff Hardy and how he ‘single-handedly’ destroyed Punk, and since we have all seen Hardy beat Kennedy, Punk said he would be able to beat Kennedy with ease. Kennedy smirks, as he goes back to what Punk said about beating Hardy single-handedly, even though they had been in a multi man match at No Way Out, he had to cheat at Survivor Series in the 2 out of 3 Falls Match, Jeff had endured 20 minutes of suffering in the Scramble Match as Punk picked up the scraps AND that he needed Burchill to help him win last night. Punk goes ballistic as he tries to attack who could be his challenger at Wrestlemania, only for Kennedy to duck under a belt shot and nail Punk with a Mic Check! Kennedy celebrates to a huge pop from the crowd, when ‘Here Comes the Money’ hits to a great pop, as Raw General Manager Shane McMahon makes his way onto the stage.

Shane O Mac says that it is an honour to have Mr. Kennedy on Raw tonight, and ask the fans if they would like to see Mr. Kennedy in action. Kennedy once again smirks as the crowd let out the obvious yes, as Shane says that what the fans want, they get. Shane then says that Mr. Kennedy was going to go one on one with a huge player here on Raw, and someone that Kennedy respects. McMahon goes on to say that Mr. Kennedy will go one on one with... JEFF HARDY! The crowd give an amazing pop for the huge inter brand match up here tonight, as they remember the time 6 months ago when the two ruled the WWE. Kennedy smiles at the idea of him facing the ‘Charismatic Enigma’, as ‘Turn up the Trouble’ plays once again. Kennedy turns around and looks at the recovering Punk, as he just shakes his head as we go to a commercial.

We return from the break with a ‘Moments Ago’ package, where we are shown what happened with Mr. Kennedy, CM Punk, Shane McMahon and the main event announcement between Kennedy and Jeff Hardy. JR and the King talk about how tonight’s Raw is shaping up to be huge, with not only Kennedy vs. Hardy, but Finlay was cashing in his Intercontinental Title rematch clause against Chris Jericho, but to ensure no interference from the UKonnection it would be in a fifteen foot high steel cage.

‘Obsession’ hit to a nice pop, as the former Women’s Champion and Smackdown Diva Mickie James makes her way to the ring. JR notes that this is her first match back since losing her title in October to Beth Phoenix on the edition of Raw. King then says that Mickie didn’t have a rematch clause in her contract so this was a non title match, but if she was to win, she would be in the running to once again have a shot at the Women’s Title.

‘Glamazon’ then hit to heat as the Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix makes her way to the ring with her little crown on her head, ready to face Mickie. JR talks about Mickie and Beth’s history, saying how they traded the Women’s Title various times in 2007 and 2008. King says that Beth is one of the most dominating divas in history, reminiscent of Chyna in the late 1990’s.

Match 1
Interbrand Diva’s Action
Mickie James vs. Beth Phoenix

This was an above standard women’s match, most likely because these two Diva’s have so much chemistry with each other. At the start of the match, Mickie wore Beth down with her speed and aerial attacks, but Beth caught Mickie when she came down for a Crossbody from the top. Beth then slammed Mickie down, as the match then turned to the worse for Mickie, as Beth was now in control. Beth dominated James with her power moves, as Mickie looked to have severe pain in her lower back which was just surgically repaired. Beth couldn’t seem to put the resilient James away, as she then signalled that it was over, as the Women’s Champion went for the Glam Slam, only for Mickie to roll through Beth’s legs into a victory roll! 1...2..3! Mickie defeated Beth in her return match!

Winner: Mickie James

Mickie quickly rolled out of the ring after she got the shock pinfall; this had to elevate her into the Number 1 Contender spot. Mickie slapped hands with the fans as Beth waited in the ring on her knees. She slammed the mat with her fists, wondering how that one got away. The referee handed Beth her Women’s Title, when all of a sudden, Beth nailed the referee with a clothesline! The crowd were stunned, as she proceeded to lift the referee up, and hit him with a Glam Slam! Beth left with her Women’s Title on her shoulder, with fire in her eyes.

When we come back from the break, ‘Britannia’ hits to huge heat from the crowd, as the UKonnection (minus Finlay) make their way out to the ring. Paul Burchill has a big smile on his face in the background, as do the rest of the UKonnection. This was obviously because Burchill cost Jeff the WWE Championship last night in the TLC match, as JR says that hopefully Burchill will answer all the questions here tonight. William Regal then gets a microphone but unlike previous weeks, he hands the mic over to Burchill, who tries to speak. Burchill then insults the crowd’s hometown getting cheap heat, which makes Burchill’s smile wider. Burchill talks about last night and how he cost Jeff the WWE Title and he said the reason being was because he and the UKonnection were sick of seeing Jeff getting chance after chance at the title, and how Burchill wasn’t even in the Rumble. Burchill then goes to talk about how Jeff screwed out of the title at No Way Out in the Elimination Chamber; he thought he would return the favour. Burchill then says that Jeff needs to pass the torch over to new contenders, like Burchill, Smith, Regal and Finlay. Burchill then throws the mic down and the UKonnection leave the ring, but not before Burchill says that they would see him tonight. As the UKonnection leave up the ramp, JR talks about the dominance of the UKonnection and how they have held the World Tag Team Titles for more than 6 months.

JR then goes to a more severe tone, as he talks about the Royal Rumble last night, as we cut to footage of last night. We see about half way into the match, where former WWE Tag Team Champion, ECW Champion and IC Champion John Morrison was in the ring. Morrison had just eliminated former Cruiserweight Champion Kofi Kingston, and then hit Gregory Helms with a Moonlight Drive. It then turns to slow motion and black and white, as we see fellow Raw Superstar Monty Brown dump Morrison over the top rope, as John lands awkwardly on his leg, ala John Cena in 2004. We then cut back to ringside as the King announces that Morrison tore a ligament in his knee, and would be out for 4-6 months as a result. JR and the King wish Morrison a quick recovery, and hope he is back doing what he does best very soon.

Commercial

‘Cool’ by Jim Johnston then hits to a nice ovation, as the three members of the Puerto Rican Nightmares make their way to the ring. JR talks about even though they haven’t won any titles in the short tenure in the WWE, they have done a lot, and he expects them to have a run with the World Tag Team Titles very soon. King said that the older Colon has led the way of the two youngsters, which is why they came so Colon to gaining the Tag Team Titles at No Way Out.

‘Voices’ by Rev Theory then hits to huge heat, as the Two Man Dynasty Randy Orton and MVP make their way to the ring. King talks about Orton’s run in the Rumble as to how he was dominant but all his momentum was crushed after HBK eliminated him. Highlights are shown of Randy re- entering the ring and eliminating HBK, as the Two Man Dynasty then assaulted HBK, which resulted in an RKO on the announce table, which is why Michaels is not here tonight.

Tag Team Match
The Two Man Dynasty vs. Puerto Rican Nightmares

The competing members of the Puerto Rican Nightmares competitors were the two brothers Carlito and Primo. Randy and Carlito started off the match as the faces had the advantage to start off the match, until the tide turned when Randy nailed an uppercut to Primo, as the Two Man Dynasty got the advantage with Primo as the face in peril. Randy and MVP worked on the right leg of Primo, keeping him in their corner. It looked as though Primo would be able to get to his brother after an Enziguiri to Orton, but after Porter was tagged in; Primo was stopped in his tracks.

Primo tried desperately to get to his brother Carlito, only for MVP to lock him in a Modified Figure Four Leg Lock, keeping the younger Colon grounded. Primo managed to turn over to reverse the pressure, and when he got up, he tagged in Carlito. Orton was also tagged in, and after an even affair, Primo took MVP with a Hurricanrana over the top rope, as the referee checked on the two. As the ref was checking on them, Randy hit Carlito with a low blow, followed by an RKO for the victory!

Winners: The Two Man Dynasty

After the match, Randy gets a microphone, and talks about last night and Shawn Michaels. He says that Shawn has been in the business too long, but he is still a child, and he proves that with his antics in DX. He talks about how it is time to pass the torch to the present and future of the WWE in the Two Man Dynasty, and Randy will prove that next week, as it will be Orton vs. HBK, one on one.

Commercial

We are backstage with Todd Grisham, and he wastes no time in introducing his guest, the man that regained the CW Title just last week against the man he has been feuding with so long in The Brian Kendrick, his guest, Paul London! Paul walks in to a nice response from the crowd, as Grisham asks him straight away as to how it feels to be Cruiserweight Champion again after losing the title to TBK one night after Survivor Series. London said that he had felt empty after losing the Cruiserweight Title, as he knew he could beat Kendrick, but on that night, he couldn’t get it done. He said that he had tried so hard to get it back, but he hadn’t cashed in his rematch clause straight away as he wanted the time to be right. He said that his training proved the charm, and that he was once again the Cruiserweight Champ. Grisham then asked London what was next for him and Kendrick, but before he could answer this question, The Brian Kendrick himself appeared out of nowhere!

The Brian Kendrick then ran London into the steel support poles near-by, before ripping the microphone out of Grisham’s hands. Kendrick then proceeds to repeatedly bash the microphone into his former partner’s skull. A gash then forms on London’s head as a result, as Todd tries to pull TBK off, only to be pushed away time and time again. Kendrick then looks at London’s Cruiserweight Title that used to be Kendrick’s, and when Paul gets up, he is smashed in the face with his own Cruiserweight Title, making the gash even deeper! Kendrick then says that he wasn’t going to wait to cash in his rematch clause, as he would cash it in next week!

Commercial

‘Britannia’ hits to a huge heat once again as the ‘Irishman’ Finlay makes his way down to the ring. JR talks about how he won the Intercontinental Title back at Summerslam of last year, and he and the UKonnection did everything in their power to keep the title on Finlay. King says that Jericho was chasing the title around Unforgiven, but was constantly being screwed until he won the title last night.

The countdown starts on the titantron before fireworks burst out, ‘Break the Walls Down’ hits to a huge pop, as the NEW Intercontinental Champion makes his way out. Chris Jericho has a large smile on his face after winning the IC Title once again last night. Jericho slaps hands with the desperate fans as he approaches the cage. Y2J can’t do his signature entrance with the cage there, as he instead, checks if the cage is secure, before he makes his way in the cage and poses on the top rope.

Steel Cage Match
Intercontinental Championship
IC Champ Chris Jericho vs. Finlay

The match started off just like a normal match, with no man taking advantage of having the cage surrounding them just yet. Jericho attempted a Lionsault early, but managed to land on his feet when Finlay moved. The match started off at a quick pace, which was obviously a disadvantage to the Irishman Finlay. As Jericho went for a Bulldog, Finlay took advantage of his surroundings by ramming Y2J’s head into the solid steel. Finlay then got the head of Y2J and began to grind it into the steel mesh, until the champion reversed by hitting Finlay in the gut, before grinding Finlay’s face into the cage!

The match then slowed down as the two fierce rivals fought for the advantage, as once they did, they used the cage as a weapon. Jericho nailed Finlay with his signature Springboard Dropkick into the cage, but this was followed by a sick Belly to Belly Suplex into the cage by Finlay. Jericho looked to do damage to his lower neck, but he still fought on, as he didn’t want to give up the IC Title that he tried so hard to get this early.

The match continued as it approached the 20 minute mark, the crowd getting more vocal and much more enthused as the match went on. Finlay tried escaping the cage after he locked Jericho in the Celtic Knot for about a minute, but Jericho recovered. Jericho raced after Finlay and managed to pull him down onto the top rope, as the two traded punches. Finlay went for a final blow to knock Y2J off, only for Jericho to duck under it, and somehow nail a CODEBREAKER OFF THE TOP ROPE! The crowd let out a huge pop, as Jericho crawled towards the door, as the referee opened it and Y2J was declared the victor!

Winner and STILL IC Champion: Y2J Chris Jericho

Commercial

We return from another commercial break in Shane McMahon’s office. Shane is on the phone as he then says goodbye and hangs up, as we then hear a knock on the door. Shane tells them to come in, and it is none other than the former World Champion Rey Mysterio! Rey said that Shane wanted to see him, as Shane O Mac said that he had just gotten off of the phone with Smackdown General Manager Theodore Long. Shane then said that Wrestlemania had gotten its first match signed, which was the annual Money in the Bank Ladder match! The crowd let out a huge pop for the MITB match making its return at Wrestlemania’s 25th Anniversary, but Rey looks confused. Mysterio then asked how that involved him, as Shane O Mac said that starting from next week, qualifying matches would take place, and Mysterio would have the chance to be one of the eight men, as he would face the man that put John Morrison out of action, Monty Brown, in an MITB qualifying match! We cut back to ringside as JR hypes previous Money in the Bank matches and winners, and says that their current champion CM Punk cashed in his briefcase to win the title, as the two announcers hype Rey vs. Brown next week.

We then cut to an Undertaker hype video package, which shows Taker returning during the Rumble last night. It shows Undertaker returning last night by entering the Royal Rumble at number 18, eliminating the likes of Kofi Kingston, Matt Hardy, Elijah Burke and Carlito in a dominating display. It then shows the Undertaker’s past achievements and the return of the American Badass persona at the Great American Bash before his match against Shawn Michaels. Righting then appears down the bottom of the screen with Undertaker doing the urn taunt, as it says ‘Undertaker’s return to Monday Night Raw. Next Week.’

Commercial

‘No More Words’ blasts out to a huge ovation from the crowd once we return from the break, as the former WWE Champion Jeff Hardy makes his way out to the ring. Jeff does his little dance up at the top of the entrance way as fireworks explode. Jeff is wearing a band aid on his forehead, selling the effects of last night’s brutal TLC match. Jeff gets in the ring and poses on the top rope, as Lillian introduces him.

‘Turn up the Trouble’ hits to an equally large pop, as the 2009 Royal Rumble winner Mr. Kennedy makes his way to the ring. Kennedy does his usual entrance as the fans join in, with Hardy smirking in the background. Before the match even starts, the two share a long handshake, signifying their friendship. The crowd has a cheering war with a ‘Let’s Go Hardy’ chant starting, quickly followed by ‘Let’s go Kennedy’.

Main Event
Interbrand Match
Jeff Hardy vs. Mr. Kennedy

The chanting war continued at the start of the match, and this contest had all styles, high flying, brawling, mat wrestling and technical all included. Neither man could get a distinct advantage to open up the match, as it was a battle of one up man ship. Jeff seemed to get the advantage after a standing Hurricanrana, but when he bent down, Kennedy got him in a small package for a near fall.

After the exciting opening exchange, the match slowed down a little bit, but was still considerably high paced. Jeff was constantly going up to the top rope, but barely hit a move as Kennedy was either reversing by rolling out of the way or sticking his knees up, or getting up too quickly for Jeff to jump. Hardy eventually nailed Kennedy with a top rope Tornado DDT, giving Jeff the advantage.

The high paced action continued, Kennedy taking the advantage after Jeff went for a Twist of Fate after the Tornado DDT, only for Kennedy to spin out of it and nail a Neckbreaker. Kennedy then worked over the back of Hardy, nailing moves such as various suplexes and a backbreaker, trying to keep Hardy grounded. After Kennedy eventually went for a Mic Check, Hardy elbowed out of it, before running onto the top rope and hitting the Whisper in the Wind!

At the 15 minute mark of what had been a very great match, Jeff started to once again take control. Jeff nailed Kennedy with his signature Sitout Suplex Face Buster, as he did the V1 taunt. Hardy then lifted the Number 1 Contender up, before hitting the Twist of Fate! Jeff then collapsed on the mat along with Kennedy, although Jeff managed to pull himself up by the ropes, as he went up top once again.

Hardy’s little rest proved very costly however, as when Jeff went up top, Ken got up to quickly for Jeff to get an offensive manoeuvre. Kennedy met Hardy with punches as he was on the top rope, but Hardy hit Ken with punches straight back. After the brawl on the top rope, all 4 male members of the UKonnection and WWE Champion CM Punk came racing down to the ring, and after pulling them off the top rope, assaulted the two men!

No Contest

Punk continued to beat down on Kennedy, as the UKonnection continued to ambush Jeff Hardy, making it a 4 on 1 assault on Jeff. Kennedy and Jeff begin to fight back against the 5 most dominant heels on Raw, and when Paul Burchill goes to knock Jeff down with a lariat, Kennedy pushes Jeff away and Smith nails his own partner DH Smith! The crowd give out a huge pop, as Jeff quickly lays Regal and Finlay out with a Springboard Crossbody, leaving just CM Punk and Paul Burchill!

Smith then charges at the former WWE Champion in Hardy, only to be kicked in the gut, as is Punk by the Rumble winner Kennedy. Kennedy then nails Punk with a Mic Check for the second time in the night, and at the same time, Jeff nails the man that cost him the WWE Championship last night with a Twist of Fate! The faces pose for a bit as all the heels are laid out either in or outside the ring, as they look at each other and nod.

Both men make their way up to the top rope, as Jeff does his signature V1 taunt as Kennedy spreads his arms out as he tries to balance on the top rope. Jeff then leaps off the top with a Swanton Bomb to Burchill, and Kennedy hits a Kenton Bomb to Punk! The faces then pose for a bit more, as Kennedy then gets a mic and invites Punk to Smackdown on Friday, as he would be announcing who he would face at Wrestlemania 25!

OOC: Expect the shows to come at a much slower pace, with exams in three weeks.

News and Notes

The WWE is looking for a new member of the creative team to be head of Smackdown, ever since Spencer Riggs left last year in August just after the Great American Bash. Spencer has stayed in contact with the WWE and is still on the creative team as one of the head bookers, but Cristian Filippo, formerly head of Raw and now of both Raw and Smackdown, is finding it hard to do both shows in the same week. It is believed that the WWE are very close to finding a new partner for Cristian, and who could take over the helm at Smackdown.

The WWE has announced a tour of Australia in July. This has come as per request of Cristian, who formerly lived in Melbourne. If all goes well during the tour, there are talks of staying there for the July PPV which would be a first. Cristian and the creative team thought this would be a perfect time to be in Australia, and if they do go through with the PPV, it could simply be renamed the Great Australian Bash!

The Mr. Kennedy/ World Champion storyline has had many rewrites, but it seems that the WWE have finally made a decision as to who Kennedy will face at Mania. There was actually a split decision for Kennedy to face Punk or Cena, but it looks like that Ken will face Cena after their feud through most of 2008 since the re- draft. Except this to be a blow off match and Punk will likely get a new competitor in the coming weeks.

The Jeff Hardy/ UKonnection and Triple H/ Edge feuds are likely to go past Mania. There are talks of having Hardy have a mystery partner revealed in the coming weeks before Mania. The original plan was to have the Hardyz reunite but have the UKonnection go over, but some think that a Hardyz reunion would be too predictable and they also think that the UKonnection reign has been quite bland. Triple H and Edge are expected to have a gimmick match at Wrestlemania 25.

Much like the UKonnection’s reign as tag champs on Raw, Smackdown creative think that the Mexicools title reign has gone past its limit. Expect them to lose them in the coming weeks. Also on the Smackdown side, Lance Cade is due for a push, he was originally slated for a tag team with Ken Doane, but plans have obviously changed.

A range of 8-10 matches are expected for Wrestlemania 25 this year. The original plan was for 13 matches to be on the card, but Cristian dismissed this. Filippo said that he was against WWE’s previous way of booking, and since it is the biggest event of the year, it is good to have long matches, instead of many matches going for less than 10 minutes in almost every case. This was shown at the Great American Bash, where the shortest match was 11 minutes.

As announced this past week on Raw, the Money in the Bank Ladder match is being brought back this year. Expect this MITB match to be particularly high flying, so expect Rey Mysterio to win his qualifying match this week on Raw. It is believed that several feuds will be incorporated in this match, as it is believed that both Ken Doane and Gregory Helms will be in this match.

John Morrison is expected to return just after Backlash and have a feud with Monty Brown. There is said to be no problems between the two backstage between the two superstars, as Morrison knows it was an accident. The WWE have decided to put this into a feud, and will make it look like it is personal.

Expect several debuts to take place in the coming weeks, especially on the Smackdown side of things. It is believed that Matt Sydal will be debuting this week on Smackdown, and after resigning with the WWE a few short weeks ago, Mark Jindrak is expected to be called up to the main roster.

As announced previously on Raw, the Undertaker will return to action. There will also be a Cruiserweight Title match between London and Kendrick, and for the second time in two weeks, Mickie James will face Beth Phoenix, but this time the Women’s Title will be on the line. Also, this week on Smackdown, HHH will face Ken Doane in the main event in a non title match, as well as Mr. Kennedy making his decision as to who he will face at Mania and a Number 1 Contender’s Match for the United States Title between Gregory Helms and Kofi Kingston.

Friday Night Smackdown

Friday Night Smackdown opens up with a different Royal Rumble video package than Raw, this one starting off with HHH vs. Edge in a No DQ match, where the winner would advance to the Royal Rumble. Taking advantage of the No Disqualification stipulation, Triple H nailed Edge in the gut with a sledgehammer shot to the gut before hitting a Pedigree onto a chair for the victory, advancing to the Royal Rumble. After it shows Triple H celebrating on the top rope, it cuts to the huge World Heavyweight Title dream match between John Cena and Batista. It shows both men hitting their finishers during the match, with both men kicking out, and also Batista forcing Cena to break the STF-U after getting to the bottom rope. After a wrestling clinic, Cena managed to hit a second F-U and quickly followed with a pin (wasting no time), retaining his World Heavyweight Championship. It then cuts to the Royal Rumble match with Mr. Kennedy entering Number 1, but lasting an hour to get to the final two, along with the man that qualified earlier in the night, HHH. Both men were spent but fought through it, but as Kennedy was down, Edge came charging in and hit HHH with a Spear, before an oblivious Kennedy threw Triple H over the top rope for the victory! The pyro then goes off as we return to the arena, as we see Michael Cole and Tazz at ringside, who talk about Sunday night’s huge PPV, and say that tonight’s show is huge, with HHH facing US Champion Ken Doane in a non title match in the main event, and Mr. Kennedy announcing who he will face at Wrestlemania XXV for the championship.

‘Live for the Moment’ hits to a huge pop, as the former United States Champion Matt Hardy makes his way to the ring. Hardy looks pumped up for his upcoming match, as he does his V1 taunt to a pop from the crowd. Tazz talks about Matt’s impressive performance in the Rumble, saying that he put in everything to have a chance at his first World Title.

‘World’s Greatest’ then hits to a nice pop, as the Self Proclaimed World’s Greatest Tag Team of Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas make their way to the ring. The former tag champions shake hands with Matt, showing their respect for their partner. All three men stand in the ring, awaiting their opponents in this Six Man Tag Team Match.

‘I’m All About Cool’ hits to small heat, as the tandem of Deuce and Domino make their way down the ramp. The announcers talk about how it has been a while since they have won a match, and tonight could be a starting point. They say that the tag team had not been in the Rumble, so none of them had the opportunity at singles gold.

‘’The Final Countdown’ plays to huge heat, as the American Dragon Bryan Danielson makes his way to the ring. Michael Cole makes mention of his and Hardy’s history and even Danielson’s history with WGGT, after facing them in his first match in the WWE with CM Punk, and the WGGT, Hardy and Danielson teaming up to represent Smackdown at Survivor Series.

Match 1
Six Man Tag Team Match
Matt Hardy, Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas vs. Bryan Danielson, Deuce and Domino

The match started off very high paced as the face team worked over the heels, as Hardy and Domino started off the match. Hardy worked over the back of Domino, as the face team used constant tags, as all three were tag team specialists. The WGGT nailed their unique leapfrog manoeuvre which they used when they used to be aligned with Kurt Angle, but when Benjamin went for the pin, both Danielson and Deuce broke it up. This caused the two partners of Benjamin to run in the ring and the three faces threw their opponents over the top rope (all on different sides of the ring). They then measured the heels up, as Hardy nailed Danielson with a crossbody, as did Benjamin to Domino and Haas to Deuce!

After the faces did this, the heels used dirty tactics to get back into the match, as when Domino looked to be in trouble as Benjamin bounced off the ropes, Danielson stuck his knee there out of the referee’s vision, causing Benjamin’s back to run into Bryan’s knee. The heels took the advantage from there, as Danielson worked well with Deuce and Domino. Shelton played the face in peril in this match, as his right leg was worked on by the three heels. Tazz noted that taking out the leg of Benjamin would take away his high flying ability. Benjamin looked to be in danger as he was set up for a Crack Them in the Mouth, but Benjamin dodged out of the way.

The heels were still in charge, but when Deuce went for a Suplex, Benjamin landed on his feet, and hit Deuce with a Step-Up Enziguiri! The crowd let out a pretty big pop, as Benjamin crawls towards his corner, as both of the legal men tag out, as Hardy and Danielson come in! Danielson charged at Hardy, only for the pumped up Matt to catch Bryan and hit him with a huge Side Effect! Domino then comes charging in, but Matt ducks him, and he runs into a forearm by Haas (who is in the corner), and when he stumbles back, Matt hits him with a Reverse DDT!

Danielson and Hardy stayed in the ring for a fair while, as Hardy lifted Danielson up and hit another Side Effect! Matt then went up top, before hitting the Big Time Leg Drop! Matt then spread his arms out and fed off the energy from the crowd, as he waited to connect with the Twist of Fate. Danielson got up, and Matt kicked him in the gut before getting him in a front face lock, but Deuce and Domino ran in and clubbed Matt in the back. Haas and Benjamin charged in, as they both clotheslined Deuce and Domino over the top rope! Haas and Benjamin then nailed Danielson with a Double Superkick, as he stumbled around, and right into a Twist of Fate!
Winners: Matt Hardy, Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas

After the match, Danielson rolls to the outside, as Matt, Haas and Benjamin link hands before raising them in air. Once Danielson had recovered, he made his way to the back very quietly, Deuce and Domino in his wake. Matt then goes up to the top rope and does his V1 taunt, as Benjamin and Haas go to different corners and raise their arms in the air in jubilation.

When we return from the break, we are backstage in the locker room, where US Champion Ken Doane and the two members of Enforcement Inc. Justin LaRouche and Rycklon Stephens are in the back warming up. Cole and Tazz talk about how Doane has one of the biggest matches in his career tonight, and Enforcement Inc. are also in action when they take on the unique team of Jesse and Festus. They talk about how Doane has had some huge matches in the past with and without the US Championship, facing the likes of Matt Hardy, Kane and Shawn Michaels, but perhaps his match against HHH tonight is his biggest match yet. Tazz talks about how Doane would rise through the ranks of the Smackdown roster if he was to beat HHH, and also, Reinforcement Inc. may rise through the ranks of the tag team division if they beat Jesse and Festus in their match, which is later on tonight. We cut away from the locker room as Michael Cole and Tazz hype up tonight’s card and what will happen later tonight, with Kennedy deciding who he would face at Wrestlemania 25 for whichever World Title he wishes to go for. Cole then says to not go anywhere, as after the break, the Miz will go one on one with Smackdown’s newest superstar!

Commercial

Tony Chimel is in the ring with a microphone and a palm card in hand. Tony then tells the crowd that tonight they would be witnessing the debut of a cruiserweight. Tony then told the fans to put their hands together for the man that would be making his debut tonight, from St. Louis, Missouri, weighing in at 183 pounds, Evan Bourne! ‘Axeman’ hits to a nice welcoming ovation, as Bourne makes his way out, pumped for his upcoming match and his debut on the big stage.

‘Reality’ then hits to small heat, as the Chick Magnet the Miz makes his entrance, smirking at Bourne, thinking the debutant will be easy pickings. The Miz bad mouths the fans as he makes his way down the ramp, screaming ‘Hoorah’ in their faces. As Miz is doing this, in the ring, Bourne bounces off the ropes before leaping over the top rope and right onto Miz with a Springboard Senton!

Match 2
Bourne’s debut match
Evan Bourne vs. the Miz

Bourne had the advantage at the start of this match after catching the Miz by surprise. Bourne used several high flying moves to work over the Miz, as Miz found it hard to keep the excited Bourne grounded. Miz managed to get Evan down after nailing a back body drop as Bourne came off the ropes, but when the Miz bent down to pick Bourne up, Evan showed tremendous speed by nailing the Miz with a Kip Up Hurricanrana! Bourne kept Miz grounded throughout the next few minutes, but Miz dodged an attempted Diving Crossbody from Evan, which gave Miz time to recover after being shocked at how quick Evan was.

Miz then worked over the back of Bourne, and he looked to finish Evan off on his debut as he went for the Reality Check a few minutes later, but spun out of the Neckbreaker attempt, and nailed an Enziguiri, and then followed up with a Springboard Tornado DDT! Bourne then quickly hopped up to the top rope before looking around to the crowd, and then nailing a picture perfect Shooting Star Press! Cole then calls that huge Shooting Star Press “Air Bourne”, as the eager Bourne climbs over Miz and hooks both legs for the cover! 1...2...3! Bourne wins on his debut!
Winner: Evan Bourne

After the bell rings, Bourne is ecstatic, gaining his first win in the WWE in his first ever match. Bourne runs outside of the ring and celebrates with the fans, who pat him on the back, seemingly proud of what Bourne has done. After almost of celebrating in the crowd, Bourne makes his way up the ramp with the cheesy grin still over his face, as he makes his way through the curtain.

We return from the commercial break with Teddy Long in his office, getting a nice reaction from the fans. Teddy Long talks about the big decision later on in the night regarding Mr. Kennedy and who he would face at Wrestlemania XXV, but Teddy said that he also had an announcement. Teddy said that up next is a Number 1 Contender’s Match for the US Title between former Cruiserweight Champions Gregory Helms and Kofi Kingston, where the winner would then face the United States Champion Ken Doane next week for the US Title. Long then said that he would add another special stipulation to that match next week between the Number 1 Contender and Doane, as he said that this past Monday on Raw, Shane McMahon announced the return of the Money in the Bank Ladder match for Wrestlemania 25, and Long continues to say that whoever wins the US Title match next week, would also win a spot into the Money in the Bank Match, ensuring themselves a spot at Wrestlemania!

‘SOS' hits to pretty big heat, as the former Cruiserweight Champion Kofi Kingston makes his way down to the ring. Kofi comes down with the trademark sneer on his face, and makes his way down to the ring. Kofi pays no attention to the fans which he turned on 5 months ago, in which he faced his opponent tonight in Gregory Helms to win the Cruiserweight Championship.

‘Firestorm’ hits then to a huge ovation, as the fan favourite and former superhero Gregory Helms makes his way to the ring. Helms is visibly pumped before this match, knowing that if he wins, he will get another chance at Doane’s US Championship. Helms slaps the hands of the fans, before putting his eyes on his opponent Kofi Kingston, as he runs up the steps and climbs into the ring.

Match 3
US Title Number 1 Contender’s Match
Gregory Helms vs. Kofi Kingston

Helms gave everything he had in this match, as he tried so hard to get what he has wanted for so long, a US Title Shot. Kofi also put everything he had in this match, wanting to get another shot at the US Title which he chased to get in the mid- late time of 2008. Kofi dominated the early going of this match as he kept the longest reigning Cruiserweight Champion of all time grounded, disabling his high flying ability. Kofi went for a quick 450 Kick, but Helms dodged, went for a Shining Wizard, but Kofi dodged that, only to turn into a quick Superkick to the jaw by Helms!

Throughout the next minutes, Helms and Kofi fought desperately for the advantage. Helms was nailed with a 450 Kick by Kofi, but somehow Helms managed to kick out after the two. Kofi was pissed, so he then went for a trademark double leg drop, but Helms moved away at the last second. Kofi gradually began getting up holding his left leg, but was hit with a Shining Wizard! The crowd popped, as Helms then made his way up to the top rope, seemingly looking for the Nightmare on Helms Street!

Kofi, however, nailed Helms with a dropkick to the sternum as he came down, and gets the advantage in the match once again. Kofi then lifted the former Cruiserweight Champion up, before getting him into a Jamaican Driver position. Helms, however, got off the back of Kofi and got behind, before getting him in position and nail a devastating Vertebreaker! The crowd cheer as Kofi succumbs to the devastating move, as Helms climbs over for the cover! 1...2...3! Helms is the new Number 1 Contender for the US Title once again.
Winner: Gregory Helms

Helms raises to his feet with a big smile on his face, knowing that he has a shot at the United States Championship next week, and also a shot at getting in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Kofi still hasn’t budged after the devastating move, as Cole highlights that Helms’ determination at getting the United States Championship could have been the deciding factor in tonight’s match, and also what could be the deciding factor in next week’s match. Helms then gets his arm raised by the referee, before making his way to the back, slapping the eager fans’ hands in the process.

We go backstage when we come back from the break, and Maria is in the back, ready for an interview. Maria then introduces the person she was interviewing as the Rated R Superstar, Edge! Edge walks on with a smile on his face, happy after costing Triple H the Royal Rumble match last night. Maria goes to ask the obvious question as to why he would do that last night, only for Edge to blow her off, and making her go away, as Edge would interview the rest by himself. Edge said that he had a message for Triple H if it hadn’t gone through yet, and that was that he needs to pass the torch over to the younger guys like Edge, saying that it was their time to shine. Edge said that Triple H cost him his shot in the Rumble, so it was only fair that he cost HHH his World Title shot, even though he wouldn’t have won that anyway. He then tells HHH to retire before Edge gets him once again, and told HHH to watch himself tonight. He then sends messages of warning to Mr. Kennedy and John Cena, telling Mr. Kennedy he better go to Raw or else there will be hell to pay, as he says that once Kennedy goes to Raw, Cena better watch out, as Edge will be the new World Heavyweight Champion.

‘Unglued’ hits (Snitsky’s old music) to big heat, as the team of Justin LaRouche and Rycklon Stephens make their way to the ring. Ken Doane’s bodyguards go by the name of Enforcement Inc., and Tazz says that these men may be as dangerous as one of their opponents tonight in Festus. Cole talks about how impressive they have been in their short time in the WWE, and how they could be future WWE Tag Team Champions.

‘Biscuits and Gravy’ hits to a huge pop, as the tandem of Jesse and Festus make their ways down to the ring. As always, Festus is being restrained by Jesse, who had changed after the chair shot given to him by Lance Cade over six months ago. Festus climbs into the ring and attempts to get away from Jesse, but is unable to do so. LaRouche and Stephens stay back from Festus, only going closer after the bell had rung.

Match 4
Tag Team Match
Jesse and Festus vs. Enforcement Inc. (Rycklon and LaRouche)

The match was a fairly sluggish match, as the bodyguards of the US Champion Ken Doane used their size and strength to wear down the smaller Jesse, as an angry Festus waited on the outside. Rycklon almost finished off Jesse in a matter of minutes after a Fall Away Slam, but Jesse managed to kick out. Jesse tried to get back in his match, but Rycklon and Justin kept him in their corner. An opening came for Jesse, as he elbowed his way out of the corner and nailed LaRouche with a Running Swinging Neckbreaker, before crawling and tagging the Corn Fed Colossus for the first time in the match!

Festus dominates both of his opponents, as he caught an incoming Rycklon and nailed him with a Spinning Side Slam. LaRouche then came charging in, but was hit by a Big Boot from Festus, before being hit with the unique thigh attack by Festus! The legal man Stephens then got up, and was hit with a Sitout Gutbuster Drop! Festus then covered Rycklon, but it was broken up by LaRouche! A recovered Jesse then came in and clotheslined the much larger Justin over the top, before hitting him with an over the top rope Crossbody! Festus then lifted Rycklon back up, and with the coast clear, nailed the Fireman Carry Flapjack FTW.
Winners: Jesse and Festus

The bell rings, but Festus still wants to fight, as he has to be restrained by his brother Jesse. Jesse raises Festus’ arm in the air, as Festus looks to go to the outside of the ring where LaRouche and Rycklon lye unconscious. Jesse takes Festus out of the ring , although away from Enforcement Inc. As they make their way up the ramp, we see Lance Cade in his locker room with a smirk on his face, watching Jesse and Festus go behind the curtain. Michael Cole and Tazz question why Lance Cade would still be watching Jesse and Festus, as he dealt with them many months ago, and he doesn’t even have a tag team partner after losing Murdoch as result of his problems with Jesse and Festus.

‘Pure Control’ hits to massive heat, as the WWE United States Champion Ken Doane makes his way to the ring, ready for what could be the biggest match in his career. Doane feeds off the heat given off to him by the fans, as he poses on the top rope to more heat. Doane hops down and paces the ring, ready for his opponent to come out. The crowd wait in anticipation, as the whole arena goes quiet, ready for the arrival of the 12 Time World Champion.

‘Time to Play the Game’ finally blasts out through the speakers to what is easily the loudest pop of the night, as the runner up of last night’s Royal Rumble Triple H makes his way to the ring. Triple H did his signature entrance, water bottle and all. Triple H then made his way into the ring and onto the top rope, getting the fans pumped for what promises to be an exciting match up, between the past and present of the WWE against the future of the WWE.

Main Event
Non Title Match
Triple H vs. US Champion Ken Doane

The match started off at a considerably slow pace, as the veteran HHH wore down the younger Doane. HHH used various arm locks and suplexes to wear down Doane, who struggled to find the advantage in the match. An opening showed for Doane, as when HHH went for a back body drop, Doane kicked him in the face as he was bent over. Doane then dragged the Twelve Time World Heavyweight Champion in to a front face lock, and a Spike DDT, dropping Trips right on his head! Doane then spread his arms out wide and taunted the fans, getting heat from the pro- HHH fans. Doane then went straight back on the offensive, smirking after angering the capacity crowd.

Doane maintained this advantage throughout the next few minutes, keeping HHH grounded at all costs. Doane then nailed HHH with a signature Whiplash Neckbreaker, as he headed up to the top rope looking, perhaps looking to finish HHH of with a Sky High Sensation. The wily veteran in HHH, however, sensed danger, so he went to the ropes closest to Doane and dived on them, causing them to buckle and Doane crotch himself on the top rope! HHH then went up top to where Doane was, as he then got him in a suplex position, looking for a Superplex. Doane, however, now sensed danger, and did everything he could to get HHH of the top rope, before raking him in the eyes and pushing him off the top rope.

Doane then waited for HHH to get up into a standing position, and once he did, Doane leapt off of the top rope and hit HHH with a Doane Nation (Flying Clothesline)! The crowd gave heat at Doane once again getting the advantage, as Doane once again smirked after knocking the veteran down. After teasing HHH and the fans by just knocking HHH down with one single right hand, Doane lifted HHH up and nailed an RK-Doane, but when he went for the cover, HHH managed to get a shoulder up! The crowd let out an enormous pop, as Doane rubs his hands through his hair, unsure of how to put HHH away. Ken waited for HHH to get up once again, as he goes for a second RK- Doane, only to be pushed off by HHH. Doane bounced off the ropes towards HHH, only to be hit with a massive Double A Spinebuster! HHH is back in it!

The next few minutes of the exciting match turned out to be somewhat of a slugfest, as the two desperately fought once again for the advantage. Triple H managed to get the advantage after nailing Doane with a high knee after Ken came off the ropes. The match then picked up in pace, as Triple H then quickly lifted Doane up and then kicked him in the gut, causing Doane to crouch down, as HHH gets him in a double underhook, looking for the Pedigree. Doane manages to spin out of it, as he then gets HHH in an RK- Doane position again, but HHH spins out of that, before tripping Doane, before going for the Figure Four Leg Lock, but Doane uses all the power in his legs to push Triple H into the turnbuckles. HHH manages to stop himself from hitting the turnbuckle, as Doane gets up and charges at HHH. HHH saw him coming though and Flapjacked Doane onto the ropes, damaging Doane’s throat! Doane backs off of the ropes, still holding his throat, turned right into a kick to the gut once again, but this time, HHH nailed the Pedigree! When HHH looked to cover Doane, none other than EDGE came charging in, and nailed his rival with the Spear! The referee had no choice but to call for the bell.
Winner by DQ: Triple H

After the match, Edge continued to assault Triple H, nailing him with various punches to the skull. Doane then left the ring and made his way up the ramp, as Edge continued his assault, eventually busting HHH wide open. Edge then has a sick smile on his face, as he grabs two steel chairs from ringside, as the crowd sense and dread what Edge is going to do next. Edge doesn’t go for the Con Chair To straight away however, as he places one of the chairs on the mat, before lifting a bloody HHH up, and getting him in a front face lock. Edge then dragged HHH over towards the chair that he placed on the mat, before nailing HHH with his signature Elevated DDT the ‘Edgecution’ right onto the chair! The crowd let out big heat, as Edge then smirked down at the unconscious HHH, his head on an awkward angle on the chair. Edge then got the other chair that he brought into the ring, as the crowd let out ferocious heat, as Edge looks for a Con Chair To! Edge lifts the steel chair above his head, only for road agents to come out and prevent Edge from doing so. Edge smirks at the damage he has caused as the agents tend to HHH. They manage to get HHH back to his feet and two men are supporting him in helping him stand on his feet, until a malicious look forms in the eye of Edge, who runs back into the ring, and hits HHH with another Spear! The road agents order Edge to get out, as he does albeit reluctantly, big smirk on his face.

‘MacMillitant’ hits to a nice pop, as the General Manager of Smackdown Theodore Long comes out with a contract in his hand, which clearly says Smackdown up the top. Teddy places the contract on the long table that is set up (like the one when Batista had to choose whether to stay on Raw or go to Smackdown before Wrestlemania 21), as he then stands behind the table. ‘Here Comes the Money’ then hits to another good pop although some heat is heard as he is Raw’s General Manager, as Shane McMahon makes his way to the ring with the Raw contract in hand. Shane nods to Teddy Long, as he places the Raw contract on the table, as the two General Managers await the three Superstars. ‘This Fire Burns’ hits to huge heat, as Raw’s WWE Champion CM Punk comes out, ready for Mr. Kennedy’s announcement of who he will face at Wrestlemania. Punk has an angry expression on his face, most likely because of what Kennedy did to him on Raw after Punk tried to ambush Kennedy during his main event match with Jeff Hardy on Raw. They note that Kennedy was in the Money in the Bank Ladder match last year at Wrestlemania 24, where Punk won the briefcase and then went on to win the WWE Title that he holds today. ‘My Time is Now’ then hits to a very similar reaction to CM Punk’s although there is a pop in scattered sections from the crowd (most likely the female contingent), as Smackdown’s World Heavyweight Champion John Cena makes his way out, with a huge smile on his face after defeating Batista at the Rumble. The announcers highlight the huge history over the past six months, with Cena winning that World Title from Mr. Kennedy at No Mercy in a Ladder Match after chasing Kennedy’s title for about 2 months. Cole notes that this was a very personal feud after Cena attacked Ken’s dad, which may make Kennedy pick John Cena, although he did have about 3 months to regain the title but was unsuccessful in doing so.

Punk and Cena wait in the ring, before ‘Turn Up the Trouble’ hits to an immense pop from the fans, as Mr. Kennedy makes his way to the ring, huge smile on his face, even though he has a huge decision ahead of him. Kennedy gets in the ring and shares a long, hateful stare with John Cena, before turning his head and doing the same with Punk. Kennedy then does his usual announcing thing, as he then gets a mic from ringside. Kennedy talks about his win at the Rumble like he did on Raw, doing something that neither Punk nor Cena have done. Kennedy said that he would go right down to business, saying that both Smackdown and Raw have been his home in the past, so he knows what it is like to be on either brand. He talks about his history with Cena over the past 6 months, and how he would love to take that World Heavyweight Championship off of him. He then turns to Punk, talking about what happened at Raw, trying to jump him but wasn’t successful. Kennedy then says that he had been thinking all week about who he would choose to face at Wrestlemania, and Kennedy then said that he wanted a ‘change of scenery’, before SIGNING THE MONDAY NIGHT RAW CONTRACT! Shane has a huge smile on his face as Theodore looks a little down, as Cena has a smile on his face in the corner as he knows that he will not have to defend his title against Mr. Kennedy at Wrestlemania XXV. Punk has a shocked and angry expression on his face, as Kennedy smirks in his direction.

The WWE Champion approaches his Number 1 Contender, as the two go face to face. Theodore Long and John Cena leave the ring, as Shane approaches the two, as Punk and Kennedy begin to bad mouth each other. McMahon attempts to get in the middle of the two to make sure there is no physical contact between the two, as they then separate. Punk tries to do the same thing that he did on Raw, however, and attack Kennedy behind his back by hitting him with a cheap shot, but Kennedy ducks under Punk’s attempted sucker punch, by kicking him in the gut and nailing the Steamroller (Standing Green Bay Plunge)! The crowd let out a huge pop as Kennedy has gotten the better of the WWE Champion once again, as Kennedy lifts up the WWE Title that could be his come Wrestlemania. Kennedy then turns back to Punk as the Raw General Manager Shane O Mac leaves the ring, as the new Raw Superstar lifts Punk up. Kennedy then kicks Punk in the gut before pulling him in, and then for the second time in the week, Kennedy nails Punk with the Mic Check! The crowd let out a huge pop as Kennedy lifts up Punk’s WWE Championship again before placing it on his shoulder, as he makes his way up to the top rope. Kennedy’s signature microphone then descends from the rafters, as Kennedy then says that at Wrestlemania 25, this is what you would see, the new WWE Champion, Mr. Kennedy... KENNEDY!

I liked both Raw and SD.

Let me first say I liked how you handled Mr. Kennedy's decision, with Kennedy having motivation besides the belt for choosing CM Punk. I am guessing we will see either HHH vs Edge in singles competition or HHH vs Cena vs Edge for the championship. I liked the way you have handled Edge vs HHH.

I think Enforcement Inc. should have gotten the win in their match.

I am really curious on Taker's return, and who will he start feuding against. Return of DEADMAN FTW!

Having someone debut on the Road to Mania is a little weird, but if you plan on pushing Evan Bourne, then I have no problem with you doing so. It was a fairly nice match even in recap, same for Kofi vs Helms.

I guess Paul Burchill is in line for a push. I don't like it. I was shocked when he entered the EC in your summary of past PPVs, and now he seems to be in a huge feud with former champ Jeff Hardy.

Ken Doane is another man that seems to be pushed big time. He's one big win from becoming a real credible competitor on the upper levels.

That's all from me. I am curious specially on the development of feuds for your bigger names like Taker and HBK, and especially with what happens next between Edge and The Game Triple H.
