I have good news everyone surrounding the Great American Bash. Riggs' computer still isn't the best but none the less it is still working, and he has told me that he may be able to get his matches done by the weekend, and if not by then, then definitely by Sunday. Remember to leave your predictions!

Sorry that I have not been active guys, but the bad news is that Riggs left me a message from his mum's computer, saying that his laptop has completely malfunctioned, so he needs a new laptop or a new desktop. So, that means that I have been left with the remainder of the Bash, and I have decided that I will give an extended recap of the Fatal Five Way Match (and recap the pre match stuff) and I will recap the World Heayweight Title match but I will write the beginning and the finish of the match in full, as I have nearly finished the beginning of it anyways. Riggs and I have agreed that we will not part ways with this partnership, as we have huge plans and that he will continue with writing Smackdown once he gets a new computer. Expect the Bash to be up next week, most of it in full.

The crowd are going wild, as the Great American Bash is live from the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York! The crowd are going wild, and there is a big American flag on top of where the wrestlers come out. The camera gives us a good idea of how many people there are, with all 17, 686 seats are filled, as well as people standing up in the aisles, ready for this historic event. We then go to the announcers, where we first go to JR and the King.

JR: Hello and welcome everybody to the Great American Bash! I am Jim Ross, accompanied here as always by Jerry ‘the King’ Lawler, and King, what a night we have for these fans tonight.

King: You are absolutely JR. Tonight, the “Thrill Seeker” himself, Jeff Hardy, is aiming to become the WWE Champion for the first ever time! But, he has Randy Orton standing in his way!

JR: I can’t wait for that match King, and neither can these fans, but what about tonight’s huge Street Fight, between two of Raw’s greatest superstars!

King: JR, this may be the biggest non-title match in the history of sports entertainment! The Undertaker will be in a Street Fight against the man who he believed cost him the WWE Title, the Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels!

JR: And it doesn’t stop there King, because Raw has two more title matches, one a Fatal Four Way match for the Intercontinental Championship, as well as a Ladder Match for the World Tag Team Championships!

King: By the end of the night JR, Raw may very well have all new champions!

JR: I could keep going on King, but now it is time to go to our Smackdown counterparts, Michael Cole and the “Human Submission Machine” Tazz!

Cole: Thanks JR, and Smackdown has a huge night ahead tonight! Our main event is absolutely huge, with Mr. Kennedy defending his World Heavyweight Championship for the first ever time against the man he beat for it, Edge!

Tazz: This feud has been heating up for weeks, starting at the Smackdown Night of Champions when Kennedy won that title! But Cole, what about Smackdown’s huge Number 1 Contenders match between five of our top stars!

Cole: Big Show, JBL, John Cena, Triple H, Batista! Those names are absolutely huge, and all five of those men will be battling it out to face the World Champion at Summerslam!

Tazz: And Cole, you would have to think that JBL would have the advantage, with his “Hired Help” the Big Show in the match!

Cole: I would think so Tazz. Also, a completely changed CM Punk will be facing against his former friend, Matt Hardy for Matt’s United States Championship.

Tazz: And also, we have another rematch from a couple of weeks ago, with the Rated R Superstars challenging the World’s Greatest Tag Team for their WWE Tag Team Championships!

‘Break the Walls Down’ hits to huge heat, as none other than Chris Jericho makes his way to the ring, bad mouthing the fans, who are doing exactly the same to him.

JR: Sorry guys, but it seems you will have to wait, as tonight’s first match is Raw’s Intercontinental Championship match!

King: Remember JR, this was supposed to be a singles match, but then our GM Shane McMahon added John Morrison and Elijah Burke to the match.

Lillian Garcia: The opening contest is a Fatal Four Way match, and it is for the Intercontinental Championship. In this match there are no disqualifications and no countouts, and the only way to win is by pin or submission. Making his way to the ring first, from weighing in at 225 pounds, from Manhasset, New York (crowd gives pop), Chris Jericho!

The crowds pop goes to all round heat, as Jericho does his standard entrance by wrapping his arms on the ropes and bouncing off them.

JR: King, Jericho is none too happy about this match being a Fatal Four Way match, since he was supposed to have a one on one match with Rey Mysterio.

King: And Jericho expressed his disappointment on Raw, and found himself on the losing end in a non title match against Rey.

‘Ain’t No Make Believe’ then hits to a nice pop, as John Morrison makes his way to the ring, doing his slow motion entrance and then slapping hands with the fans.

Garcia: Introducing next, from Los Angeles, California, weighing in at 219 pounds, he is John Morrison!

King: This man was a late inclusion in this match, and Morrison knows all about being the champion, since he has been the Intercontinental Champion in the past.

‘Don’t Waste my Time’ hits to a decent amount of heat, as the other late inclusion in this match Elijah Burke makes his way to the ring, all smiles.

Garcia: And now, introducing the final challenger, hailing from Jacksonville, Florida, weighing in at 230 pounds, Elijah Burke!

JR: This was the other late inclusion in the match, and this man has been teaming with Chris Jericho and has been having troubles with John Morrison.

King: That was ever since Morrison eliminated him in the Battle Royal, when the two were teaming up.

‘Booyaka’ then hits to a great pop, as the Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio makes his way to the ring, with a USA style mask.

Garcia: And lastly, introducing the champion, from San Diego, California, weighing in at 165 pounds, he is the Intercontinental Champion, Rey Mysterio!

JR: The Biggest Little Man in the WWE won that title in the Battle Royal, but the aftermath was what everyone was talking about.

King: That’s right JR. After the match, Jericho was seemingly congratulating Rey on his first Intercontinental Championship, until he hit Rey with the Codebreaker, and even going as far as spitting on Rey.

Fatal Four Way Match
Intercontinental Championship
Elijah Burke vs. John Morrison vs. Chris Jericho vs. Rey Mysterio ©

The match starts off with a buzz throughout the arena, as all four men exchange glances with each other. All of the four men in the ring were constantly switching gazes between each other to seemingly communicate with one another, before finally after 10 seconds of tension between all 4 men, Burke charges at Morrison with a forearm, as Jericho and Mysterio approach each other, and Rey meets Y2J with a kick to the thigh. Burke whips Morrison across the ropes, but John holds onto the ropes, much to the chagrin of Burke. Burke charges at his nemesis, but Morrison backdrops Burke over the top rope and onto the outside! Rey was kicking at the thigh of Jericho in the corner, until Morrison charged at clubbed Rey in the back, showing that it was every man for himself. Morrison then knocked Rey down with a clothesline, before Morrison went back to Jericho, who was still in the corner recuperating. Morrison then got Jericho out of the corner, and nailed him with a Standing Dropkick in the centre of the ring. Morrison then dragged Mysterio over, but before he could do anything, Elijah had recovered outside of the ring and ambushed Morrison by clubbing him in the back, similar to what Morrison did to Rey earlier. Burke began repeatedly punching Morrison’s back, as Rey went back to his nemesis in Jericho. Burke went for the finish early by going to hit Morrison with the Elijah Experience, but Morrison held his ground, before getting out of Burke’s Russian Leg Sweep position by getting Burke in the same position, before hitting him with a Russian Leg Sweep. Rey hit Jericho with a Leg Drop after bouncing off the ropes, and when Morrison went over to Mysterio, Rey nailed him with a Standing Hurricanrana! Rey was the last man standing, but instead of going for a pin which he knew would be unsuccessful, he went over to a recovering Burke. Rey lifted Burke up and went to whip him into the corner, but his friend Chris Jericho stopped him, before the two looked at each other, and then hit Rey with a Double Clothesline. The two then went over to Morrison, who was still grounded. The two then lifted Morrison up and whipped him against the ropes, before nailing him with a double back body drop. Jericho signalled for Burke to go to Morrison while he (Jericho) went to Mysterio, and Elijah obliged. Jericho lifted up Rey, and went for a suplex, but Rey caught him in a small cradle pin! 1...2...Burke breaks up the count, preventing Rey from retaining his IC Championship.

The heels decided that they would continue teaming up on Rey because of the near fall, but a recovered Morrison came in to help out. Morrison quickly threw the former Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho out of the ring, before working on Burke, nailing him with a kick to the gut, before quickly hitting him with a Springboard Dropkick! Morrison then lifted up the current champion Rey Mysterio up, and nailed him with a scoop slam, before he dragged him right next to Burke. Morrison then headed up to the top rope, as the crowd rose in anticipation, unsure of what Morrison was going to do. Before the “Monday Night Delight” could reveal what he was planning, Jericho had recovered on the outside and pulled Morrison’s leg, causing Morrison to get crotched on the top rope! The expression on Morrison’s face said it all as to how much pain he was in, before Jericho went into the ring, before he seized Morrison. Jericho then flipped Morrison off of the top rope, causing him to land right on top of Rey and Burke! Jericho then smirked, and then he separated Rey from the rest of them, before saying “The worst is yet to come” (what he has been saying to Shawn Michaels IRL). Jericho then smirks, bounces off the middle rope, and nailed the current IC Champion with his patented Lionsault! The crowd gives a big amount of heat, as Jericho climbs over Rey and hooks the leg, and it looks like we have a new Intercontinental Champion! 1...2...NO! Somehow Rey managed to roll a shoulder up, as Jericho shows his frustration. Chris then goes over to his other nemesis, John Morrison, and then lifts him up. Jericho got him by the head and dragged him towards the knees, looking for the Codebreaker! Jericho then went for the finisher which he debuted last year, but Morrison wrapped his arms around the ropes that were nearby, causing Jericho to fall flat on his back. Morrison then had his back to Jericho, but had his head turned around, waiting for Jericho to get up. Once Y2J had gotten up, Morrison bounced off the middle rope and nailed Chris with his Springboard Enziguiri! Morrison then climbed over Jericho for the cover, and his first cover of the match. 1...2...NO! Once again, Elijah Burke saves the day by kicking Morrison, causing him to break up the pin. Burke then wrapped his arm around the opposite side of Morrison’s neck, before nailing him with a signature Leg Sweep STO! Before Elijah could capitalise, Rey bounced off the ropes and nailed Burke with a spinning headscissor takedown!

Rey was about to go back to Burke, but Y2J had gotten up and went to clothesline Rey from behind, but Rey seemed to have eyes at the back of his head, as he managed to duck under Jericho’s attempt, and when Jericho bounced off the ropes and came back, Mysterio nailed him with his signature Wheelbarrow Bulldog! Rey Mysterio is in charge! Rey then goes over to his friend in John Morrison, before lifting him up, and whipping him into the corner. Elijah Burke gets up, but when he attempts to clothesline Rey over the top rope, Mysterio pulls the rope down, causing Elijah to once again crash and burn on the outside! While this is happening, Morrison has gotten out of the corner, and puts Rey in the corner, followed by connecting with a couple of punches to the gut. Morrison then lifts his counterpart from the past couple of weeks up onto the top rope, before heading up to the second rope himself. Morrison then gets Rey in a suplex position, looking perhaps for a Superplex. Rey holds on to the top rope, preventing Morrison from hitting the high impact move. Morrison now connects with some punches to the gut, as the camera cuts to the outside, where surprisingly Jericho has gone outside the ring and helps Elijah up. Jericho then directs traffic, as the two climb up the turnbuckle, one on either side. Morrison still has Rey in the Superplex position, as the crowd once again rise in anticipation. Jericho and Burke then flip over Mysterio and nail Morrison with a Double Sunset Flip Powerbomb, causing Morrison to give Rey a massive Superplex from off the top rope! The crowd erupt at the huge spot, as all four men are out of it! The crowd applaud all four men’s efforts. Jericho and Burke are the first up, and Jericho kicks Burke in the gut. Jericho then gets Burke in a front face lock, but Burke, sensing danger, flapjacks Jericho, causing him to smash his face against the turnbuckles, and now he is facing the turnbuckles, meaning he is in perfect position for the Elijah Express! Burke pulls down his knee pads, going for his signature move to the man that he has been teaming up with all match, but when he went for the double knee strike, Jericho moved and Burke’s unexposed legs hits the turnbuckles! Burke was in immense pain as he stumbled out of the corner, right into a Jericho Full Nelson! Y2J brought Burke with him in the middle of the ring, and he hit his old finisher, the Breakdown!

The crowd actually pop for Jericho since he nailed his old finisher move, but he didn’t go for the pin, as he saw Morrison on the apron, still recovering from the huge spot before. Jericho, without hesitation and with a smirk on his face, bounces off the second rope and nails a springboard dropkick to Morrison, knocking him off the apron! The crowd’s reaction towards Jericho once again does a 180 degree turn, getting a lot of heat. Jericho then goes towards Mysterio, who is nearby the ropes, but when he bends over to pick him up, Rey pushes him into the ropes, in perfect position for the 619! The Intercontinental Champion screamed out 619 to a big pop from the crowd, and Mysterio bounced off of the ropes opposite to Jericho, came back and he hit his signature move! The crowd sensed that the end was near, as Jericho got up in the middle of the ring, and Rey leapt, looking for the Seated Senton, but Jericho held onto Rey, and nailed him with a Powerbomb, although he kept his hands clasped around Rey. Jericho then lifted up Rey again and nailed him with another Powerbomb, before seizing Rey’s legs. The crowd give big heat, as a prone Rey is victim to the first Walls of Jericho of the match! Rey is screaming in agony and is trying to desperately get to the ropes although he is in the centre of the ring, as Mysterio has the crowd willing him on. Jericho begins to apply more pressure on Rey’s back, by almost going to a seated position. Rey was screaming out in pain, and was very slowly getting to the ropes, inch by inch. Somehow, Rey was with standing the pain of the devastating move, and it looked as though Rey would get to the ropes, as he was fighting on, with the crowd right behind the Biggest Little Man, as it seemed that the crowd’s reaction gave Rey the energy that he needed, as when the crowd’s reaction got louder, Rey had more power to get to the ropes. However, when Rey was just over an arm’s length away from the ropes, Jericho dragged Rey back into the centre of the ring, and applied more pressure! Rey was immense trouble and in immense pain, and it looked as though Mysterio would tap out. When Rey lifted his hand up to tap out, John Morrison ran into the ring, bounced off the second rope and nailed Jericho with a Springboard Enziguiri, causing Jericho to break the hold! All 4 men were down in the centre of the ring, as the crowd were going wild for this opening contest.

The match has reached the nine minute mark, as all 4 men were down in this phenomenal display. Morrison was the first up, and he decided to go to Jericho, who he had just hit with his unique move. Morrison then whips Jericho off the ropes, and nails him with a back body drop, quickly followed by a Standing Shooting Star Press! The crowd gives a huge reaction for Morrison, and he climbs over Jericho for the cover! Do we have a new Intercontinental Champion by the name of John Morrison? 1...2...FOR THE THIRD TIME IN THIS MATCH, ELIJAH BURKE BREAKS UP THE THREE COUNT! The crowd give a mixed reaction, as they did want Morrison to win but they also want Rey to keep his Intercontinental Championship. Burke then once again goes to work on Morrison, punches him once to Morrison’s torso, followed by another two, before he nails his nemesis with an uppercut to the jaw, completing the 4- Up Combo! Morrison stumbles back after the high impact blow, as he goes back to the corner, as Burke nails him with a Stinger Splash! Morrison crumbles under Burke’s weight, and he goes down to the mat. Burke looks down at him, flashes his “Million Dollar Smile”, before grabbing onto the ropes, jumping and nailing the “Shaman of Sexy” with the Outer Limitz Elbow Drop! Burke then grabs Morrison’s arm and leg and drags him into the centre of the ring, and goes for the cover. Is Elijah Burke then new Intercontinental Champion? 1...2...NO! Morrison manages to kick out! Burke is obviously furious at this, but he stays on the offensive, stomping away at Morrison’s body a few times, before lifting him up, and hitting him with a Vertical Suplex. Burke then heads up top to some unfamiliar territory for him, as he waits for Morrison to get up, but much to Burke’s shock and the crowd’s happiness, when Morrison was on his hands and knees, a recovered Mysterio leapt off of Morrison’s back and dropkicked Burke, sending him toppling off of the top rope and smashing his jaw on the barricade! Burke looks hurt as the crowd pop the spot, as Rey lifts up Morrison and connects with a forearm to Morrison’s face, but when he went for the second Wheelbarrow Bulldog of the match, Morrison held on to Mysterio! Morrison then went for a modified German Suplex, but Rey fell on his feet! Morrison then went for Mysterio, but he was tripped into the ropes! Mysterio was going to go for a 619 to Morrison, but Jericho stopped him before any damage was done.

Jericho then took charge of Mysterio, hitting him with a Step-Up Enziguiri to heat from the crowd, simply because Jericho was the one delivering the move. Morrison was still in the 619 position, but he was slowly recovering. Jericho then lifted Rey up, before he bad mouthed him for a bit, and then slapped him in the face! Jericho got huge heat from the crowd, but he didn’t care, as then he put Rey in his legs, looking to give Rey a couple more Powerbombs like he did earlier when he reversed the 619. Jericho managed to lift Rey up, but Rey met him with a few punches to the head, before Mysterio flipped back Jericho into a Hurricanrana! Jericho went stumbling forwards, and he collected Morrison, and now the two were in position for a 619! Double 619 (1238! lol)! Morrison went down whereas Jericho was getting up, so when Rey leapt, he nailed Jericho with a Springboard Hurricanrana, sending him rolling to the outside! Rey then looked at Morrison, before he went up to the top rope. Rey played around a bit to the crowd and pointed up to the heavens in memory of his best friend Eddie Guerrero, as Rey then gave a Frog Splash to Morrison! Rey looked around and Burke was still out after the bump he took from the top rope to the outside, and Jericho was unconscious after receiving the Hurricanrana following the 619, as Rey dropped down over Morrison and he hooked the leg! 1...2...3! Rey Mysterio has defied the odds and retained his Intercontinental Championship!

Winner and STILL Intercontinental Champion: Rey Mysterio
Match Time: 12 minutes and 20 seconds

Lillian: Here is your winner and still the Intercontinental Champion, Rey Mysterio!

JR: Yes, he’s done it! Rey Mysterio has won it, and retained the Intercontinental Championship! What a way to start off the Great American Bash!

King: Rey Mysterio has defied the odds and proved all the critics wrong after a huge victory. You got to hand it to all 4 competitors JR; they certainly gave it their all.

Rey is ecstatic with the win, as the referee gets the Intercontinental Championship belt and hands it to Mysterio after a hard fought victory. The referee lifts Rey’s arm up in victory, as we see Elijah Burke stirring on the outside, and also Jericho stirring on the outside, unsure of what just happened. Rey then heads to the back, kissing a few kids with Rey Mysterio masks on his way.

Cole: Well we just saw former Smackdown Superstar Rey Mysterio retain his Intercontinental Title, but up next is Smackdown’s WWE Tag Team Title match.

Tazz: This is a rematch from 3 weeks ago at the Night of Champions Smackdown, when the Rated R Superstars ambushed Benjamin’s original partner the Miz backstage, and then during the match, Charlie Haas joined as Benjamin’s partner, where the two eventually became the champions.

Cole: In the past couple of weeks, brass knuckles have been introduced, causing Shelton to get a black eye, and completely snap, attacking the Rated R Superstars with the brass knuckles.

Tazz: This feud has turned personal, and it will surely turn violent early.

“In the Middle of It Now” hits to big heat, as the Rated R Superstars Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder make their way their way to the ring, looking to become the WWE Tag Team Champions for the first ever time.

Tony Chimmel: The following contest is scheduled for one fall, and it is for the WWE Tag Team Championships! Making their ways to the ring, from Long Island, New York, weighing in at a combined weight of 437 pounds, they are the Rated R Superstars, Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder!

Cole: The Number 1 Contenders making their way to the ring, and they hope to have the same result as what they wish for their master Edge tonight.

Tazz: And Cole, I wouldn’t be surprised if brass knuckles are introduced behind the referee’s back.

’World’s Greatest’ hits to a very nice pop, as the World’s Greatest Tag Team and the WWE Tag Team Champions Charlie Haas make their way down to the ring, as they are met on the entrance way by Hawkins and Ryder, as they pair off, Haas with Ryder and Benjamin with Hawkins.

Cole: This has started off with a bang, look at them go!

Tazz: I said that this would get ugly soon, Mike, and it sure is!

WWE Tag Team Championships
World’s Greatest Tag Team vs. the Rated R Superstars

The pairs eventually separate from each other, as Benjamin and Hawkins head to the ring and Haas and Ryder stay on the outside, as the crowd get behind Benjamin and Haas. Benjamin connects with some hard right hands to the face of Hawkins, backing him against the ropes, and on the outside, Benjamin’s partner Charlie Haas has also taken the advantage, bouncing Ryder’s head off of everything, firstly the apron, then the barricade and eventually the silver steel steps. Back on the inside, Benjamin continues with his punches, nailing Hawkins right in the face, as he looks to continue with his revenge on Edge’s followers for what they did to his face 16 days ago on Smackdown in his singles match against Hawkins. Benjamin throws Curt across the ropes, as Haas pulls down the bottom rope, causing the “Edge Head” to tumble down to the arena floor. Haas is on the outside with both Hawkins and Ryder, and after a recovered Hawkins gets up, Ryder is whipped into Hawkins by Haas. The former “brothers” and in real life best friends (much like Edge & Christian) smash heads, causing them to become groggy as the sense is knocked out of them. As the two aren’t all there, Benjamin bounces off the rope opposite before leaping over the top rope cleanly and nailing the two with a flip suicide dive! The crowd give out another pop for the Self Proclaimed World’s Greatest Tag Team, as the WGGT raise their arms in jubilation. Shelton then lifts up Hawkins and rolls him into the ring, as Haas makes his way up the steps and onto the ring apron while Ryder begins crawling on the outside, towards his corner. Shelton then climbs over for a quick cover on Hawkins, 1...2. It could only muster a quick two count, as Shelton stays on the offensive as he obviously thought he wouldn’t win the match. Shelton begins laying some boots into the body of Hawkins, before he lifts him up and once again throws him across the ropes. When Hawkins comes back, Benjamin nails a successful back body drop to Hawkins, smacking his back against the canvas after going fairly high in the air. The crowd let out a pop once again, as Benjamin measures Curt, waiting for him to get up. Once Hawkins does, Shelton attempts a kick to the gut, but Hawkins manages to hold on. It seems as though Benjamin was hoping for this, however, as unfortunately for the Rated R Superstars, Benjamin then spins out of it, and then nailing Hawkins with a direct spin kick to the face, completing his signature Dragon Whip. Benjamin then lifts up Hawkins and drags him over to his corner, as Shelton then makes the first tag of the match, bringing his partner Charlie Haas in for his chance at their fierce foes. Haas then makes his way to the top rope, as Benjamin executes an atomic drop to Hawkins. Right after Benjamin’s move, Haas leaps off of the top rope and hits Hawkins with a huge Diving Cross Body!

Two and a half minutes into the match and Hawkins nor Ryder have gotten any offense in on their opponents. Haas then lifts up Hawkins, before executing a beautiful body slam, smashing Hawkins’ back right on the canvas! Haas then drops a knee onto the spine of Hawkins, before Charlie grabs one arm and one leg of Curt, before once again dragging him over towards his and Benjamin’s corner. Haas quickly tags in Benjamin after being in for a full 30 seconds, before he grabs the legs of Hawkins, ensuring the team that he won’t get away from what seems to be another double team move coming up. Benjamin then seizes the top rope, before nailing Hawkins with a Slingshot Flip Senton over the top rope, directly onto Hawkins’ back! Hawkins screams out in pain, as Shelton then quickly turns Hawkins over onto his (sore) back, before hooking the leg and getting the cover, hoping to get the quick victory at the near four minute mark! 1...2...An interfering Ryder breaks up what actually could have been the victory, as a frustrated Haas, quickly gets into the ring, causing Ryder to scarper to the outside of the ring, and for him hopefully to safety. Haas is then instructed by a frustrated referee to go back to his corner, as Haas, not wanting to get into any trouble, gets on the apron obligingly. The referee then quickly goes over to Ryder and orders him not to do it again, or else he will call for the DQ. Benjamin then lays some boots into the back of Hawkins, before he lifts him up and whips him into the World’s Greatest Tag Team’s corner. Benjamin then makes the quick tag once again to an eager Haas, as the two drag Hawkins out of the corner, before they measure him up and hit a perfectly executed double dropkick! Benjamin then makes his way onto the apron, ordering him out now, as Haas lifts him arms up to another pop from the crowd. Haas then goes over to Curt, seizing him in a front face lock. Hawkins attempts to battle out of it with a few punches to the gut, but Haas, sensing perhaps a reversal, acts quickly by dropping Hawkins right on his head with a vicious Snap DDT! The referee then bends over to check on Hawkins who must be hurt after enduring a lot of punishment, as Haas quickly bounces off the ropes. When Haas gets towards the ropes, however, Ryder quickly goes over and lift his knee up, crushing Haas’ back against his knee!

Hawkins seems miraculously recovered when he sees Haas hold his back in pain, as he pushes the referee off of him, before he goes to Haas and connects with a forearm to the face, before he drags Haas over and then tags in Ryder. Ryder then quickly runs in and assaults Haas, connecting with some punches to the back and such. He then brings Haas to the middle of the ring and attempts to whip him across the ropes, but Haas reverses, bringing him in and then nailing a knife edge chop to the exposed chest of Ryder! The crowd lets out a huge ‘WOO!’ as Haas connects with a few more, to some more ‘WOO!’S from the crowd. Haas then gets behind of Ryder, perhaps attempting a back suplex, but with his head poking through Ryder’s arm, Zack hits Haas with a punch to the face. Haas flies back wildly, holding his face, as the camera zooms in, and we see that Ryder had brass knuckles, which went undetected by the referee and have been used by the 4 men in the past couple of weeks! Haas holds his face as Benjamin looks furious on the outside, wanting to get in the ring and get revenge on Ryder, but the referee restrained him from getting in, as the Rated R Superstars smirk at the damage they have caused to Haas. Ryder then walks towards his partner in Hawkins, before sticking his hand out, ready for the tag. Hawkins tags himself in, as the two then walks over to Haas, before they whip Charlie off of the ropes. When Haas returns, they get him in a double hip toss, but when he comes down, they catch him with a Double Catching Hip Toss Backbreaker! It looks as though Benjamin feels Haas’ pain as when Haas’ back is crushed, Benjamin holds his back on the apron, feeling his partner’s pain, and once again beginning to will his hurt partner on. The crowd give heat at the Rated R Superstars taking charge, as Ryder makes his way back onto the apron, and Hawkins smirks down at Haas, bad-mouthing him and getting big heat in the process. Hawkins lays some boots into Charlie, before he lifts him up and then kicks him in the gut. Hawkins then lifts Haas up, before hitting Hawkins with a huge Scoop Body Slam! Hawkins then nails Haas in the back with a huge knee drop, before lifting Haas up, and then he whips him into the Rated R Superstars corner.

Hawkins tags in Ryder, as Ryder gets in the ring and then lifts an injured Charlie up, and then he (Ryder) spun Haas around, and then got him in a Reverse DDT position. Ryder then lifts Charlie up whilst in the Reverse DDT position, before he drops him down with a huge Lifting Reverse DDT, Armando Estrada’s old finisher move as a “wrestler” in ECW! Ryder then drops down to his knees and hooks the leg of Charlie, for what is strangely the Rated R Superstars first cover of the match. 1...2...NO! Haas somehow managed to roll a shoulder up, breaking up the count and preventing the protégés of Edge for winning their first WWE Tag Team Championships. Ryder is obviously upset at not getting the victory, although he stays on the offense, but not before he questions the referee for a slow count, which it obviously wasn’t. Ryder, after giving up with his arguing with the referee, lifts Haas up, before dragging him over to Ryder’s team’s corner, where Hawkins tags in, ready to be a part of the action in this match once again. Tazz puts over that the Rated R Superstars are using frequent quick tags to where down Charlie and frustrate Benjamin, which is exactly what they are doing. Hawkins and Ryder nail Charlie with a double kick to the gut, before pulling Haas into a Double DDT position. The two look at Benjamin and mock him, before nailing Shelton’s World’s Greatest Tag Team counterpart with a huge double Impaler DDT, or what their ‘master’ Edge calls the Edgecution! Ryder quickly gets on the apron as the referee warns him, before Hawkins climbs over Haas for the cover! 1. (Benjamin gets in the ring)...2...AN INTERFERING BENJAMIN BREAKS UP THE THREE COUNT! The referee warns Benjamin to get back onto the apron quickly, as both Hawkins and Ryder are pissed off, although the crowd are relieved that the WGGT are still the Tag Team Champions (for now). Hawkins is extremely pissed off, and after complaining like his partner Ryder did when Haas kicked out of the pin earlier, Hawkins goes back on the offence, before whipping Haas into one of the corners that is unoccupied by either tag team, as the former Brian Major elevates Charlie up to the top rope. Hawkins follows by getting up to the second rope, before connecting with some right hands to the skull of Charlie. Hawkins then gets Charlie in a suplex position on the top rope, obviously looking for a Superplex, but when Hawkins went for the move, Charlie held onto the top rope, preventing Hawkins from nailing the huge move. Hawkins went for a couple of punches, but Haas managed to block them, before pushing Hawkins off of the top rope! A shocked Hawkins gets up, and this is where Charlie sees an opening, as he leaps off of the top rope, attempting a Missile Dropkick, but Hawkins moved out of the way, and Haas came crashing down, all the way from the top! Hawkins smirks at Haas, before making the belt signal to further heat from the crowd. Hawkins then lifted Charlie up, before bouncing Haas off the ropes. When Charlie returned to Hawkins, he was sent crashing down to the mat with a huge Spinning Spinebuster from Curt Hawkins!

A dominated Haas stretches his arm out hopelessly, as the camera shows Shelton Benjamin, raring to get into the ring and once again be a part of this match, as the last time he was in the ring was just before the four and a quarter minute mark. Hawkins then drags Haas over, before lifting him up and then getting him in a hammerlock, as he tags in Ryder with his free arm. Ryder then ascends to the top rope, before coming crashing down with a double axe handle on the twisted arm of Haas! Haas screams in pain, as Ryder then brings him back into the middle of the ring, attempting a Vertical Suplex. Unfortunately for Edge’s protégés, Haas rolls off of his back, wraps his arms around Ryder and then hits a massive German Suplex! The crowd erupt since Haas managed to get some offense in this match, as Charlie desperately crawls to his corner, Ryder doing the same. Ryder manages to get to his partner first, but to the delight of the crowd, a desperate Haas manages to get to Shelton! Hawkins charges at Benjamin, only to be met with a shoulder to the gut (whilst Benjamin was still on the apron). Hawkins stumbles out of the corner, as Benjamin springboards off the top rope and then hits a Springboard Clothesline! Benjamin then lifts up a hurt Hawkins, before dropping him straight back down with a very impressive Roundhouse Kick, straight to the side of the face. A seemingly recovered Ryder gets up, but walks in to a huge Super Kick from Benjamin, as Ryder falls straight back down to the mat upon impact! The crowd lets out a pop, as Shelton draws off of the energy of the crowd, causing them to get even louder. Shelton then lifts up Hawkins, before bending down, locking Hawkins in, and then nails Hawkins with a huge Northern Lights Suplex, before keeping him in the same position, executing a bridge cover! 1...2...Ryder interferes, stomping on Benjamin, causing him to break up the pin! Ryder then lays some boots into Benjamin, but Haas comes charging in, looking to be healed from the offense that he had taken in the match, before he clotheslines Ryder all the way over the top rope! Hawkins struggles to get up, as Benjamin and Haas look at each other, as Hawkins finally manages to get to his feet. Charlie then gets Hawkins and nails a huge atomic drop, before a groggy Hawkins turns around, right into a huge Exploder Suplex! To ensure no interference from Ryder, Haas dives through the middle rope with a suicide dive, right onto Ryder! Shelton then climbs over an incapacitated Hawkins and then hooks the leg! 1...2...3! The World’s Greatest Tag Team has successfully retained their WWE Tag Team Championships here tonight!

Winners and STILL WWE Tag Team Champions: World’s Greatest Tag Team
Match Time: 11 minutes and 57 seconds

Shelton collects his team’s titles, as Haas seems to recover on the outside, before sliding into the ring and collects his beloved title from his partner in Benjamin. The two then embrace with a hug, before going to opposite corner and raising their arms up with the titles in their hands. The crowd are giving them quite an ovation, as they keep them raised in jubilation.

We now cut away from this image as we go backstage, where Raw backstage interviewer Todd Grisham is, all smiles and with a microphone in hand.

Todd: Hello everybody, I’m Todd Grisham, and with me tonight is one of the men in the WWE Championship match tonight, Jeff Hardy!

Jeff walks in to an immense pop from the crowd, easily the biggest reaction of the night by far. Jeff greets Grisham with a little nod, and judging by the reaction on his face, he looks somewhat nervous.

Todd:Jeff, later tonight you are in what has been said as the biggest match of your career, when you face off with Randy Orton for the vacant WWE Championship later tonight in the main event.

Hardy: Well Todd, I would have to agree that this is the biggest match in my career. But I have said it before and I will say it again, I have beaten Randy Orton before!

The crowd gives a big pop for Hardy.

Hardy: And only two weeks ago, I pinned Orton in the middle of the ring 1...2...3!

Once again, there was a huge pop for Jeff.

Hardy: And Randy, tonight you’re gonna pay for your sins, for what you did to Kane, for what you did to all those legends, and for what you did at the Royal Rumble!

The crowd give heat, as they know that Randy defeated Jeff at the Rumble, as well as how he tried to end the careers of legends like RVD and Shawn Michaels.

Hardy: Randy, 6 nights ago on Raw, you took me out. Well Randy, tonight, not only will I win the WWE Title, but I will take you out!

The crowd give a big pop for this statement, as Hardy is not finished.

Hardy: Orton, you may have the momentum heading into this match, but only because you don’t have the guts to meet me face to face! No you have to attack me behind my back, just after I finished my match!

Crowd give heat once again.

Hardy: Randy, you knew that the last time that us two were starting off even, I beat you, and tonight will be no different!

The crowd give a huge pop once again.

Hardy: You know, it has been my dream to be WWE Champion all my life, and tonight is my chance. Jeff Hardy as WWE Champion. Just think about that!

The crowd go wild at the thought, as Grisham takes back the microphone.

Todd:Thank you for your time Jeff, and good luck in your match tonight for the WWE Championship against Randy Orton.

Hardy: Thanks Todd, it was a pleasure to be here.

Hardy then leaves the set to a huge pop from the crowd, as now we go the Smackdown announce table once again with Michael Cole and Tazz (promo time= 2 minutes and 17 seconds).

Cole: Well, as Jeff Hardy prepares for the biggest match of his career, his brother Matt Hardy will defend his United States Championship for the first time since he won the title at Smackdown’s Night of Champions against the man that he will be defending his title against tonight, CM Punk.

Tazz: Matt Hardy won the United States Title in what the fan’s first thought were Matt’s dirty tactics, leading to CM Punk trying to turn the fans away from Hardy.

Cole:Punk then revealed his master plan to the world, after attacking Matt backstage, before revealing that it was his aim to take both the fans and the United States Title from Hardy.

Tazz: And just 48 hours ago on Smackdown, you, Michael, had an interview via satellite, where Hardy said that even though he was risking his career, he would do anything to get revenge on Punk.

Cole: Let’s have a look at how this fierce rivalry brewed between these two highly talented men.

Tazz: Oh boy, I have been waiting for this for weeks! This is goin’ to be a rocket buster!

United States Championship Match
Matt Hardy© vs. CM Punk

Hardy managed to catch his fierce foe off guard with his attack, and as soon as Matt slid into the ring, he pounced on an obviously shocked Punk, executing a Lou Thesz Press to Punk, followed by Matt nailing 10 straight punches to the skull of the "Straight Edge Superstar". The referee manages to separate Hardy from Punk, as Hardy once again does the Version 1 symbol, and we see that Punk is visibly shaken. Hardy quickly goes over to Punk, nailing him with a kick to the gut, quickly followed by mat whipping him against the ropes. Hardy then bends down, looking perhaps for a back body drop, but unfortunately for Hardy, Punk reverses, attempting a Swinging Neckbreaker to Hardy, but Hardy spins out of the attempt of Punk’s move, and when they are back- to- back, Hardy hooks the arms of the former TNA star, and gets him in a backslide roll up! The referee quickly gets onto his hands and knees, as the crowd chant along in hope for Matt’s quick victory. 1...2.No. Only a quick two count for the United States Champion, who obviously wasn’t expecting a victory only 45 seconds into the match. Both Matt and Punk get up at the same time, and Matt charges at Punk, but Punk’s martial arts background works to his advantage, as he drills the champion right in the face with a perfectly executed roundhouse kick to the face! Matt seems to be knocked unconscious at the point of impact, as his arms go by his sides and falls to the mat in exactly the same position, almost in slow motion. Matt seems to regain some consciousness when he hit the mat, as all the momentum that the crowd had drained after the devastating kick of Punk’s. Punk shakes his head, amazed at how quickly Hardy had come out, before he went back over to Hardy. He lifted one half of the infamous Hardy Boyz, before he nails Hardy with a kick to the gut, before he gets him in a double underhook, perhaps looking for the Tiger Driver 91 finisher that he debuted last week. Punk doesn’t go for the end of the match just yet however; as he hoists Hardy up and then flips him, and then outstretches his knee so Hardy’s spine is crushed on Hardy’s knee, called the Welcome to Chicago, Motherfucker! Hardy and the crowd groan as one, as Punk smirks at the obviously hurt Matt, getting revenge from the Six Man Tag Team Match a couple of weeks ago, where the back of Punk was injured.

Punk wastes little time as he sees that Matt is hurt from the devastating Double Underhook Back Breaker, Punk then quickly gets Hardy in yet another move that he used in his Indy days which he called the .45 Special, which is an Indian Death-lock Surfboard! The crowd collectively gasp once again as they probably haven’t seen a move like this and they obviously haven’t seen Punk execute this move, as Matt grimaces in pain while in the destructive manoeuvre, as his back and his shoulder blades are being agonizingly stretched out of their sockets. Punk stretches back on Hardy’s shoulders once again, lowering his own shoulders further down to the mat, with his shoulders now touching the mat. The referee spots this, and hops down for the cover, but as soon as the referee counts the one count, Punk rolls his shoulders up off of the mat, as the referee stops the count, and then asks Hardy if he wants to quit. Punk screams out ‘Quit’ in unison, but Hardy, fighting on, yells at Punk to kiss his ass, before somehow rolling both Punk and him over, right next to the ropes! Punk breaks the hold and repeatedly stomps away at the body of Hardy, but somehow Matt fights through it, and makes it to his feet. Punk wildly throws punches at Hardy, before he bounces off the ropes, looking for a clothesline. Hardy, however, sees him coming, and wraps him in a wrist lock on the wrist opposite, before he nails him with a signature Side Effect! Hardy quickly climbs over Punk for another cover, and it may be over already! 1...2...NO! Punk manages to roll a shoulder up, preventing Matt from retaining his title and the victory. Hardy looks shocked at that Punk was unable to kick out, before he makes his way up to the top rope. Hardy waits until a groggy Punk gets up, and when he does, Matt does the V1 symbol once again, before going for a diving clothesline, but he is met with a huge dropkick by CM Punk! Hardy is winded from the blow as his and the crowd’s momentum is once again completely drained, as Punk once again goes on the offense. Punk then drags Hardy over to near the ropes, before lifting him up, bouncing him off of the ropes and nail him with a Snap Scoop Powerslam! Instead of going for the cover, Punk goes out onto the ring apron, before nailing Hardy with a Slingshot Somersault Senton! Punk then goes for his first cover of the match, looking to become the new United States Champion! 1...2...Hardy manages to grab the bottom rope! The crowd gives a pop for this as they obviously thought Hardy was in trouble, as Punk is furious that Punk managed to break the count.

Punk lays Hardy with some boots, before he lifts him up and whips him across the ropes. When Hardy returns, he bends down, looking for a Northern Lights Suplex, but Hardy holds his ground, and keeps Punk in the front face lock, looking for the Twist of Fate. Punk, sensing danger, quickly gets out of it, getting behind of Hardy, before pushing him against the ropes. Matt rebounds off of the ropes with his back to Punk, as Punk smashes him in the back with a forearm. Punk then nails a back suplex to Hardy, following it up with an elbow to the sternum. Punk then lifts Hardy up, before he seizes him by his ring attire and his shoulder, before he throws him out of the ring, near the announce tables. Punk then smirks at Hardy, before he kicks him in the gut and once again gets him in a Double Underhook, perhaps looking for the Tiger Driver 91! This time Hardy manages to get out of the predicament, going for a back body drop onto the mats, but Punk lands on his feet. Matt turns around, into a dropkick from Punk, before the challenger seized Matt’s sternum, and drove it into the announce tables! Matt screamed in agony, as Punk lifted Matt into a Standing Fireman’s Carry position, perhaps looking for the Go to Sleep! Punk, instead of driving Hardy’s head onto his knee, twists him around so his head is facing the ring, and he drops him head-first onto the ring apron! The head of Matt lurches back sickeningly, as Punk simply smirks and throws Hardy back into the ring, as Punk stays on the apron, holding onto the top rope. Matt doesn’t know where he is at, as Punk waits for Matt to get to his feet, and when the current US Champion does get to his feet, Punk springboards up to the top rope, and as he has done so many times before in the WWE, hits Hardy with a perfect Springboard Clothesline! Punk then crawls over to where Hardy was, and desperately hooks the leg, hoping for the victory over the champion! 1...2..NO! For the second time in the match, Hardy denies Punk the victory and his United States Championship. Punk is furious as he lifts Hardy up, but he is met with a forearm smash for his troubles. Punk was quickly dragged in by Hardy, as Matt looked for a Belly to Belly suplex to Punk, but somehow, once again, Punk landed on his feet. Punk quickly turned Matt around, and nailed him with a Superkick!

The crowd once again gives heat as Matt falls down to the mat, seemingly out of it once again after a devastating kick of Punk’s. Punk then drags the unconscious Hardy over to the corner, as Punk makes sure that he will be able to reach Hardy if he goes for an aerial attack. Punk bad mouths the fans once again, before he gets each of his hands on both sides of the top rope that he was near, before bouncing off the top rope and nailing a Split Legged Moonsault, RVD like! The crowd give a mixed reaction as they remember the days of The Whole Fuck!ng Show, as Punk quickly brings Matt back into the centre of the ring, and once again hooks the leg, looking for the championship victory! 1...2...PUNK IS DENIED ONCE AGAIN! Somehow, Matt was able to kick out of the Split Legged Moonsault (which Punk used to call the Crooked Moonsault), and Punk is still not the WWE US Champ! Punk doesn’t know what else to do, so he attempts to whip Hardy into the corner, but Matt manages to reverse, sending Punk into the corner, as the crowd sincerely hope that this is the opening that Hardy has needed since his diving clothesline went astray almost four minutes ago. Hardy sprints at Punk, and manages to nail Punk with a turnbuckle clothesline! Hardy then wrapped his hands around Punk’s head and charged out of the corner, looking for his patented bulldog, but Punk held onto the top rope when Hardy was about to deliver the move, so Hardy went flying, and back smashed the canvas! The crowd give big heat, as Punk quickly capitalizes on Matt’s injured back, and in a reversal of 3 weeks ago on Smackdown, Punk seizes the legs of Matt, before twisting over and locking Hardy in a Boston Crab, putting unbelievable pressure on Hardy’s back. The crowd give perhaps the biggest heat of the match for two reasons, as they know that Matt is in trouble and this is what happened in the six man tag match. Punk applies incredible pressure to Hardy’s back, as Matt attempts to crawl towards the ropes. The crowd begins another “Let’s Go Hardy” chant in an attempt to get behind Matt, and it seems to be working, as Matt inches towards the ropes, and after 30 seconds in the submission hold, Matt manages to get to the bottom rope, to a huge pop from the crowd! Punk then gets up off of Hardy, before nailing some boots to the injured back. Punk then lifts Hardy up, whips him off of the ropes, and when he comes back, he nails him with a Tilt a Whirl Backbreaker! Punk, to gain more heel heat, does the V1 symbol, as the crowd pour in more heat, although the Straight Edge Superstar simply smirks.

Punk then lifts up and then drags a hurt Hardy in, then looking for a Urinagi (which often leads onto his signature submission the Anaconda Vice), but Hardy elbowed out of the predicament, and went behind Punk, and nailed a Reverse DDT! Hardy is back in this match! The crowd got behind Matt, beginning a “Let’s go Hardy” chant, as the two superstars got up at the same time. Punk quickly went for a Step- up Enziguiri, but Hardy ducked under the attempt, before quickly getting behind Punk, and this time he nailed a Russian Leg Sweep! Hardy wasted little time, as he once again made his way to the top rope, but he had his back facing Punk. Hardy then leapt off of the top rope looking for a Moonsault, but Punk rolled out of the way and Hardy unexposed ribs smashed the canvas! A grounded Punk looked over at Hardy, before he quickly crawled over for the cover. 1...2..NO! Hardy manages to kick out, and still manage to hold onto the United States Title for the time being. Punk is visibly upset and frustrated, so he lifts up Hardy and whips him into the corner, before sprinting at Hardy and nails his patented Shining Wizard! Punk then finishes off his signature combo by nailing a bulldog! Punk gets big heat from the crowd for this, but he doesn’t seem to care, as he thinks he has this one in the bag. 1...2...NO! Once again, somehow, Matt finds a way to kick out and keep his chances alive! Punk is furious with Hardy, as he lifts him up and once again whips him into the corner. Punk then climbs up to the second rope, and feeds off the negative energy from the crowd by pounding away at the hapless Hardy. Punk connects with 7 punches to the skull, but he can’t deliver anymore, as Matt seizes Punk’s legs! Punk is shocked and tries everything he can to stop Hardy, but he can’t as Hardy drops him with a Sit Down Powerbomb! The crowd erupt in huge cheers, as Hardy and Punk stir on the mat, with Hardy not getting the full effect after the pain he has endured throughout the match. The two men get up, as Punk swings at Hardy with a right hand, only for Hardy to duck and NAIL Punk in the jaw with a right hand, as we see spit fly out of Punk’s mouth. Hardy connects with a few more rights, but when he goes for a discus punch, Punk ducks under, and when Matt spins around, Punk gets him on his shoulders! The crowd boo as they don’t want this to happen, but when Punk goes for a GTS, Hardy gets off his shoulders, kick him in the gut and hit the Twist of Fate! This could be it! Matt hooks the leg of Punk! 1...2...3!

Winner and STILL the WWE United States Champion: Matt Hardy
Match Time: 11 minutes and 29 seconds

Cole: Yes, he’s done it, Matt Hardy’s done it again! He’s managed to defeat CM Punk, Matt Hardy is still the Unites States Champion!

Tazz: What an effort by both men here tonight, but Matt Hardy has got his revenge by defeating CM Punk.

Cole:These two both put on a fabulous performance, and Matt came straight out of the blocks to get his revenge... HEY WAIT A MINUTE! WHAT’S THIS!

Back inside the ring, as Matt Hardy was celebrating up on the top rope, the CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPION KOFI KINGSTON had come out, and was right behind Hardy! Matt hopped down from the top rope, and was drilled with Kofi’s CW Title Belt! The crowd pour in big heat for Kingston, who simply just looks down at Hardy, before lifting him up to his feet. Kofi takes a step back, before bracing himself, and hits Matt with a huge 450 Kick! Kofi picks up his Cruiserweight Title and Matt’s United States Title, before he raised them up to even more heat. Kofi throws the US Title belt on top of an unconscious Hardy, before Kofi leaves the ring.

Cole: The Cruiserweight Champion Kofi Kingston making a statement here tonight, signalling to Matt that he is coming for the United States Championship!

Tazz: Kofi wants to become a double champion, and who could blame him. Kofi has certainly been looking impressive lately, so Matt’s US Title reign may be in jeopardy.

Cole: Tazz, we still have the huge Fatal 5 Way Number 1 Contender match and the World Heavyweight Championship match, but now we go over to JR and the King.

JR: Well King, after two Smackdown matches, we are finally going to have another match, and this match I have been looking forward to.

King: And me too JR! The next match is the World Tag Team Championships match between the UKonnection and Londrick, and as announced on Raw this past Monday night, the match is a ladder match!

JR: Take a look at how this match came to be. It all started back at Raw’s Night of Champions, in the Triple Threat Tag Team Match for the World Tag Team Titles.

~~~WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP VIDEO PACKAGE~~~
*The newly formed UKonnection win the World Tag Team Championships in the Triple Threat Tag Team Title match when DH Smith makes his return and smashes London in the back with English flag, which then was followed by Regal making London tap out to the Regal Stretch, winning them the Tag Titles*
*Next up is the announcement of the original standard tag team match for the GAB with the UKonnection defending against Londrick*
*It shows the UKonnection defeating Cryme Tyme in a non title match, but after the match, Londrick get the better of them once again*
*The UKonnection and Chavo Guerrero are victorious in a Six Man Tag Team Match against Londrick and Tommy Dreamer, but Londrick ambush Smith after the match. Backstage in Londrick’s locker room, Shane McMahon changes the match to a ladder match!*
*A final shot of Londrick and the UKonnection face to face, before we cut to a picture of senior official Mike Chioda holding up the World Tag Team Championships*
*End of Video Package*
JR: King, this feud has certainly been heating up in the past couple of weeks, and this has lead to Shane McMahon making this match a ladder match.
King: And JR, people may think that this stipulation will be to the advantage of Londrick because of their high flying techniques, but people seem to be forgetting that this match is No Disqualifications.
JR: That’s right King. The only way to win a ladder match is by retrieving the belts which are suspended 15 feet in the air!
King: So JR, that means there are no pinfalls, no submissions, no countouts and as I mentioned earlier, no disqualifications. This means that you have to wear your opponent out so much that you have time to climb at the ladder and retrieve the belts for your team.
Lillian: The following match is a ladder match, and it is for the World Tag Team Championships!
The crowd give a huge pop at the announcement that the ladder match was on now, as this is a potential MOTN candidate.
Lillian: Now, the rules of this match is that there are no pinfalls, no submissions, no countouts and no disqualifications. The only way to win is by retrieving the belts, which will be suspended 15 feet in the air.
‘Hey You’ hits to a pretty big face reaction, as the young, exciting duo of London and Kendrick make their ways to the ring, in their masks and doing their casual slide in entrance, before they do a back flip off the top rope, landing on their feet.
Lillian: Introducing first, they are the challengers. From Austin, Texas, weighing in at a combined weight of 385 pounds, they are Paul London and Brian Kendrick!
The crowd give them another great pop, but it soon degenerates into massive heat, as ‘Rule Britannia’ hits, as DH Smith and Paul Burchill make their way out in their wrestling gear, with fellow members William Regal, Katie Lea Burchill and Natalya Neidhart right behind them.
Lillian: And introducing next, they are the World Tag Team Champions, representing the UKonnection, weighing in at a combined weight of 463 pounds, accompanied by Natalya Neidhart, Katie Lea Burchill and William Regal, they are DH Smith and Paul Burchill!
JR: This young stable debuted a little less than 4 weeks ago on Raw, and I must say with former Raw GM William Regal leading the way, this team is heading to the top very soon.
King: JR, this team is already at the top of the tag team division, but I won’t be surprised if there was some singles gold heading to this team in the future!
Referee Mike Chioda asks for Burchill and Smith to give him the Tag Title belts so he can hang them up, as the two do give it to him, although at first they didn’t want to. As soon as they gave him the belts and he signalled for the belts to go up, Smith and Burchill jumped their opponents, aiming to get the advantage straight away!
Paul London and Brian Kendrick vs. DH Smith and Paul Burchill w/ the rest of the UKonnection ©
Chioda rang the bell to signal the start of the match, with the UKonnection already in control of the match since they ambushed them before the match. Burchill bounced of the ropes and gave Kendrick a huge lariat, before he went outside the ring and got a ladder that was rested up against the barricade, but in the meantime, London had managed to get away from Smith with a standing dropkick. Burchill slid it back into the ring, only for it to baseball slid into his face by London! Smith then quickly went back to London, but Paul hit him with a kick to the gut, quickly followed by a Swinging Neckbreaker. Kendrick had recovered from Burchill’s previous lariat, as he collected the ladder that Burchill attempted to bring into the ring earlier. Burchill was being helped by Regal on the outside, as Londrick isolated Smith in the ring. Kendrick brought the ladder into the middle of the ring, and he laid it down on the mat, as London dragged the Second Generation superstar over towards the ladder, looking for something huge. London then got him in a suplex position, but when he attempted a suplex onto the ladder, a recovered Burchill threw a watching Kendrick into the back of London, causing him to drop Smith. Burchill then laid some boots into Kendrick, as he lifted him and nailed him with a scoop slam, directly onto the ladder! The crowd give heat towards Burchill, who tells Regal to get him a ladder from under the ring, and Regal obliges. Regal, instead of getting the ladder that was leaning up against the barricade on the other side of the ring, look under the apron, and pulls out the ladder for Burchill. Regal slides the ladder into the ring to Burchill, who then sets up the ladder in the corner. Smith then lifts up Kendrick, and whips him into the ladder that Burchill had just set up in the corner, as Kendrick crumbles as his unexposed back smashed the metal ladder! Smith and Burchill then lift up London and go to do what Smith just did to Kendrick, but London held onto the ladder, stopping him from connecting with the ladder head first. Smith and Burchill then looked at each other, as Smith then charged at London, only to be back dropped over the top rope, straight onto Regal! Burchill then makes the same mistake and charges at London, but gets a face full of ladder after London gave him a drop toe hold straight into it!
London then quickly pounced since his opponents were out, as he quickly got the other ladder that was in the centre of the ring, and set it up, looking for the early victory. London gets as far as the first rung, before Natalya and Katie Lea get in the ring to get London off of the ladder, giving their UKonnection counterparts to get in the ring, but also during this time, Kendrick has gotten up after being sent into the ladder. Smith was the first up, and went for a clothesline to London, but London ducked under, and when DH came back, Londrick nailed him with a double hip toss, and once Burchill had entered the ring, London and Kendrick nailed him with a double dropkick. Londrick then got the ladder that was in the corner, and they placed it on the middle rope, in the centre of it. They lift up Smith, as Kendrick then heads to the top rope, and then London hits Smith with a body slam, smashing his back on the ladder! London then holds onto Smith’s legs, making him steady, as Kendrick then leaps off and nails him with a diving splash, sandwiching Smith between Kendrick and the ladder, as Smith may have done some serious damage. Kendrick also feels the effects after being winded, as he rolls off of Smith, leaving just London, but Burchill got up. London approached Burchill, and Paul then threw him into the ladder that was set up in the ring. When Paul looked to once again capitalise since everybody was down, this time William Regal got into the ring and got him down, before nailing him with a half nelson Suplex! Once again, UKonnection interference has prevented a possible Londrick win, as the two divas and Regal go to attend to their counterparts on the outside of the ring. Meanwhile, in the ring, Kendrick has gotten up, and he sees them on the outside. Kendrick then looks at the ladder that is still resting on the middle rope, before he runs off the ladder and nails the five UKonnection members with a huge body press. All six of them are down, as London then begins to stir in the ring, but is still feeling the effects of the Half Nelson Suplex from half way up the ladder. For the third time in the match, after London got up, Paul finds himself unattended with the ladder in the centre of the ring. London manages to get up, but he can’t get up the ladder as quickly as he is hurt from the devastating suplex, but he manages to get up, rung by rung.
When London reaches the 4th highest rung, it looks as though he will be able to reach the belts only 4 minutes into the match, but on the outside, the UKonnection have Regal, Smith and Burchill attacking Kendrick in a three on one assault, which then catches London’s attention. When London is distracted, Natalya and Katie Lea once again get in the ring, and they tip the ladder so that London falls, right onto the ladder that was on the ropes! The two divas smile, as we see the 3 men on the outside are happy also. Regal and Burchill stay on the outside and begin assaulting London, while Smith goes inside, and starts to work on London. Smith smirks at the unconscious London, before he lifts him up once again, before hoisting him up on his shoulders, before nailing London with his patented Running Powerslam, directly onto the ladder leaning on the middle rope! The crowd give big heat although there is a mix of ‘Holy Shit’ chants, as Smith smirks at the damage he has obviously caused to London’s back. On the outside, Regal and Burchill double Irish Whip Kendrick, right into the ring post! Burchill tells Regal to once again get a ladder, as Regal goes to get the one leaning across the barricade, but Burchill stops him, and then smirks. Burchill then signals for Regal to go over to Kendrick and Regal obliges, confused at what Burchill is doing. The former ‘pirate’ heads up the entrance way, before going all the way down, where the ladders are set up. The crowd give a mixed reaction, as they know that Burchill is going to get the 20 foot ladder. Burchill gets the ladder and tucks it under his arm, before he gets it and sets it up, so it resting on the ring apron and the barricade (like what have happened in the past two Money in the Bank ladder matches). Burchill then ducks under the ladder to get to the other side where Regal is, as the two attempt to give Kendrick a double suplex onto the ladder, but somehow, Kendrick managed to keep his ground. Kendrick nailed the two with punches their guts, while in the ring, Smith is toying with London, throwing him into the two ladders that are in the ring. Kendrick went back before sprinting towards the Brits, but for his troubles, he is met with a double back body drop, directly onto the ladder!
London looks straight up at the belts, as his partner Kendrick has recovered and he gets a ladder also and puts it next to London’s before climbing up the ladder. The crowd give a pretty big pop as London looks down at Kendrick and then stops on his way up the ladder, seemingly waiting for Kendrick to get up so they can get the title together. This proves to be costly however, as Smith and Burchill get up on the outside! Both men get in the ring, as Smith pushes London’s ladder down and Burchill pushes Kendrick’s ladder down, but somehow, London and Kendrick fall on their feet, albeit with the help of the ropes. Smith and Burchill then look at each other before charging at the high flying duo, but Londrick both pull the top rope down, as they use UKonnection’s own momentum to send themselves tumbling all the way over the top rope, and to the arena floor (FYI, they are near the entrance ramp). Londrick play to the crowd once more, as Regal, Natalya and Katie Lea finally begin to recover on the outside. London and Kendrick wait for Smith and Burchill to get up, and when they did, the two (London and Kendrick) looked at each other, before seizing the ropes with both of their hands and catapulted themselves over the top rope for a double cross body block onto both men! London and Kendrick both get up unscathed to cheers from the crowd, but it soon turns to heat, as Regal comes charging through and clocks Kendrick in the face with a huge ladder shot, causing Kendrick to be busted on above his right eye. Regal goes for the same shot to London, but Paul sees Regal and manage to duck under the shot, as the ladder then hits the ring post and flies out of Regal’s hands. London then goes for a kick to the gut, but Regal manages to hold on to Paul’s foot. London, however, seemed to be expecting this, as he lifted up his other leg and nailed Regal right in the side of the head with a perfectly placed Enziguiri! London looks down at Regal, but during this, Smith and Burchill have recovered, and they manage to get London in a double Pumphandle slam position. The UKonnection, however, aren’t looking for the Pumphandle slam, but instead they nail the helpless cruiserweight with a double battering ram sending London’s head directly into the unforgiving steel ring post!
Smith and Burchill smirk at the fallen London and the now busted open Kendrick, before Burchill points at Kendrick to Smith, signalling they should do that exact same move to Kendrick, as Smith gives out an evil smirk and agrees with his tag team partner. The two fighting members of the UKonnection lift up the seemingly unconscious Kendrick, but when they charge towards the ring post, Kendrick gets off of their shoulders before nailing them with a double dropkick to their backs (one foot connecting with one of the man’s backs each), sending the Brits right into the ring post! Regal looks worried and once again charges at Kendrick, but he is met with a drop toe hold directly onto the ring apron! Kendrick then looks down at the three fallen male members of the UKonnection, before he goes on the ring apron and then makes his way up to the top rope, with his back facing the UKonnection. Kendrick once again waits for the UKonnection members to get up; Kendrick leaps off the top rope with a wonderful Moonsault, nailing the three UKonnection members! Kendrick favours his ribs when he goes down, as all 5 men are out, as the UKonnection ladies in Katie Lea Burchill and Natalya look worried, as they tend to their fellow stable mates. Kendrick, with the blood now pouring from his face, was the first man up, as London looks concussed on the outside, not bleeding but he hasn’t moved an inch since the double battering ram. Kendrick slides into the ring, and set up a ladder in the middle of the ring, but once again, while a member from Londrick looks like he will win the tag titles for his team, there is interference from the UKonnection, once again from the ladies. This time, however, Kendrick seems them coming, and quickly gets off the ladder and grabs the two girls by the hair, to a pretty big pop from the crowd. Kendrick plays to the crowd once again, but this proves costly, as the two women nail Kendrick with a double low blow to Kendrick to heat from the crowd, as we see the agony show on Kendrick’s face. Katie Lea and Neidhart aren’t done, however, as they get one side of the ladder each, and they tip it towards Kendrick’s face, smashing Brian’s face with the solid steel! The crowd give heat once again, as we once see that the both the UKonnection members and Paul London are beginning to get up.
The women are pleased with their work, before the once again go to their stale mates, hoping for them to get up as they now have an opening. However, they don’t see that London is up now, as he climbs up to the apron and rolls under the bottom rope, not having the strength to get in through the middle rope. London then gets the ladder that Kendrick head was smashed with, and he sets it up in the middle of the ring, but before he even gets the chance to begin his ascension, Smith and Burchill are in the ring, obviously having the advantage since it is two on one. Smith clubs London in the back when he is 3 rungs up the ladder, before he pulls him down, and Burchill and Smith lock London in their signature double Dragon Sleeper! London begins to fade as soon as the move is locked in, as the Brits are relentless, choking London until he passes out. After 30 second of the hold being locked in the deadly hold, Burchill and Smith flip London into a double inverted suplex! Burchill then climbs up the ladder, as Smith works over London once again. Smith lifts up London, and rams him head first into the turnbuckles, before he drags him into the centre of the ring, then getting him in a powerbomb position. Burchill had reached nearly the top of the ladder, meaning that he was in reach of the belts, but before he could reach up to attempt to get the belts, London reversed the attempted powerbomb from Smith into a Hurricanrana, directly into the ladder! The ladder stumbled, as Burchill tried to steady it, but it was to no avail, as a recovered Brian Kendrick was on the ring apron, and he then bounced off of the top rope and hit the ladder with a perfect Springboard Dropkick, sending the ladder down and Burchill along with it! Smith was down after the Hurricanrana, London was barely conscious after the double dragon sleeper and Burchill took a 10 foot fall, which meant that all Kendrick would have to do was recover and get the belts, but there was still the most certain interference from the UKonnection, although Kendrick also had that covered. There were three ladders in the ring, but Kendrick decided that he would only need two, so he got one that was lying on the mat and put it near the ropes, and before the inactive members of the UKonnection could do anything, Kendrick nailed the ladder with a baseball slide right into Regal’s face, and the effect caused him to stumble back and knock out the two ladies, giving him in a clear path!
For some reason, Kendrick decided to set up another ladder next to the one that Burchill climbed, instead of just climbing the already set up ladder. Kendrick looked up at the belts through the dried up blood on his face (which had trickled down to his chest), before making his way up the ladder, seemingly having a free path. However, setting up the ladder and taking care of the other members of the UKonnection proved to be costly, as during this time, Smith had recovered from London’s Hurricanrana, ad he made his way up the ladder, the same one that Kendrick was still climbing. Kendrick manages to get to the top of the ladder, but unfortunately for Londrick, Smith meets Kendrick up at the top of the ladder when he raised his arms, attempting to pull the belts down. Smith nailed him with a shot to the unexposed gut of Kendrick. Smith then rams the head of Kendrick into the ladder, before holding his head down onto the ladder, before stretching up his other arm, attempting to pull down the belts. Kendrick, however, uses his free arms to punch Smith, freeing Kendrick from Smith’s grasp. Kendrick then repeatedly nails Smith with stiff punches, before he seizes his head in an RKO position. Kendrick, without hesitating, puts one foot on the ladder next to him before putting the other foot there (not freeing Smith from his grasp), before jogging up the ladder, and with shades of the infamous Fatal Four Way Ladder Match from Armageddon 2006, KENDRICK NAILS SMITH WITH THE SLICED BREAD #2 OFF THE TOP OF THE LADDER! The crowd erupt into the second ‘Holy Shit’ chant of the match, as we see Kendrick and Smith out of it on the mat! We cut to several replays of the massive spot, where they showed a replay of where a camera was set up just above the cables where the belts were hanging, giving us a good idea of how high the fall came from. While the two were down, it was time for Burchill and London to go at it. London met Burchill with a few forearms to the face, before bouncing off the ropes, only for Burchill to meet the former Cruiserweight Champion with a knee to the gut, gaining the advantage. Burchill nails London with a kick to the gut, before turning him around, and nailing his patented Twisted Sister! Burchill smirks, and signals that he is not finished with his punishment of London, before he rakes London in the eyes, showing his dirty tactics. Burchill then whips London into the corner, before he lifts him up and rests him on the top rope. Burchill nails London with some punches, before he also made his way up to the top turnbuckle, perhaps thinking something big (though obviously not as big as Kendrick’s Sliced Bread).
Burchill gets on the second rope, nailing some more punches to London’s skull, as the cruiserweight looks like he would fall to the outside of the ring, as the punches seemed to knock all the sense out of him. However, London managed to stay on the top rope by holding onto the rope with one hand. Burchill then bent down on the top rope, before he put London down into a crouched position, and got him in a front face lock, obviously thinking to put London away with a Superplex from off of the top rope, much like Hawkins tried to do to Haas in the WWE Tag Team Championship match earlier. Burchill attempts to nail the high impact move, but once again, London stays on the top rope by holding onto the top rope with one hand. Burchill attempts some more punches to London, but when he attempted a knock- out blow, London raised his arm, mustering up enough strength to prevent Burchill’s punch. London began to throw everything he had at Burchill, punches, kicks (from quite awkward positions) and even head butts. It was now Burchill’s turn to attempt to not fall and stay on the top rope, and London saw this and capitalized, nailing a huge Tornado DDT from off the top rope! The crowd erupt in cheers once again, as all four men are out on the mat! The top rope move that London executed seemed to take a lot out of him, as he was huffing and puffing on the mat as well, right next to an unconscious Burchill. 2 and a half minutes after their amazing spot, Kendrick and Smith were back up on their feet again, battling it out, very groggily, trading punch for punch, attempting to get the other man off of their feet. The crowd showed that they were extremely into this amazing contest, as when Smith nailed Kendrick punch, the crowd would give big heat, but whenever Kendrick would throw a punch, the crowd would give a pop, in the classic face vs. heel brawl. Much to the dismay of the fans, however, the bigger and stronger Smith takes the advantage, nailing Kendrick with a kick to the gut, quickly followed by a body slam onto the mat. Smith puts his arms out in a narcissistic way before smirking, which draws heat from the fans, but gets the applause of his fellow stable mates in William Regal, Katie Lea Burchill and Smith’s cousin Natalya Neidhart. Smith then lifted Kendrick up from the mat, before bad-mouthing him, and SLAPPING HIM IN THE FACE! The crowd give big heat for the lack of disrespect for the talented youngster, as Smith then bounces off the ropes, looking for a clothesline, but with shades of his teacher Shawn Michaels, Kendrick meets the 2nd Generation Superstar with a picture perfect Atomic Drop! Kendrick attempts to clothesline Smith over the top rope and take himself out of the ring with a clothesline where the huge ladder was still resting on the apron and barricade, but somehow, the two remain on the apron.
The two trade blows, but the bigger Smith takes the advantage once again, ramming Kendrick’s head into the turnbuckle. Smith then brought Brian back over, and he got him in a suplex position. Kendrick, however, nails Smith with some punches to the gut, fending him off. Kendrick then nails Harry with some forearms to the face, but Smith lifts his leg up straight into Kendrick’s groin! Kendrick bends over in pain, but Smith doesn’t hesitate, quickly getting Kendrick up and nailing him with a Brainbuster, going STRAIGHT THROUGH THE SET UP LADDER! The crowd let out a ‘Holy Shit’ chant, as Smith and Kendrick are both laid out in between the bent ladder! Smith has gotten revenge for the Sliced Bread #2 off the ladder from earlier on in the match! Meanwhile, in the ring, London is in trouble with Burchill (who has taken control after the tornado DDT from the top rope), as the taller Burchill attempts to slam London onto a ladder, but Kendrick floats over, only to be met with a knee to the gut. Burchill then bounces off the ropes, but when he meets London, the cruiserweight nails Burchill with a snap Hurricanrana! London then gets up and feeds off the energy from the crowd, before he turns around and eyes the ladder that his partner Kendrick set up in the corner earlier. London then looked around at the crowd before going through the middle rope, walking on the apron and climbing up onto the turnbuckle nearest to the ladder. London then looks out at the screaming fans once again, before getting one foot on the ladder, before climbing up the ladder, rung by rung. Once London reaches the top of the ladder, he goes to the other side, so he is closer to Burchill. London once again looks impressively out to the crowd, before looking down at Burchill and taking a deep breath. London then flips off the ladder, giving Burchill an astonishing SHOOTING STAR PRESS OFF THE TOP OF THE LADDER!!! The crowd go absolutely ape shit at the spot, but instead of chanting out ‘Holy Shit’, they begin to chant ‘This is Awesome!’ The camera pans out to all 4 superstars who are laid out, but not long after, Smith gets up, and gingerly gets back in the ring, before getting the ladder that London used earlier and sets it up in the middle of the ring. DH makes sure that the ladder is steady, before climbing up the ladder very slowly, showing what he has gone through in this match. Harry holds on very tightly to the ladder, as the crowd are giving big heat, as they obviously don’t want the UKonnection to retain their gold. As Smith gets up to the fifth highest rung, we see London crawling towards the ladder. Regal sees this, as he quickly slides in the ring, pulls London away from the ladder, and locks in the Regal Stretch! The crowd give huge heat, as Smith climbs up two more ladder rungs and retrieves the World Tag Team Title belts! The UKonnection are still the World Tag Team Champions!
Winners and STILL the World Tag Team Champions: The UKonnection
Match Time: 20 minutes, 21 seconds.
JR: Oh damn it King! London and Kendrick were so close to winning the World Tag Team Title once again on several occasions, but the damn UKonnection had to spoil the match by constant interference, so now the UKonnection are still the World Tag Team Champions!
King: I totally agree with you JR, but honestly, what did you expect them to do JR?
JR: King, I knew that they were going to do this, but I was hoping that they wouldn’t do this, so perhaps Londrick would have a fair chance at gaining the World Tag Team Titles.
King: Unfortunately for Londrick JR, they came out just short, but you have to congratulate them on a fabulous display right here tonight.
JR: No doubt King, and apart from those underhanded tactics made by the UKonnection, I strongly believe that this could go down as one of the Matches of the Year, and perhaps the Match of the Year so far!
***Remember that this is recapped.***
Cole and Tazz then hype the Fatal 5 Way Match, where the winner will become the Number 1 Contender for the World Title at Summerslam. They show how these events transpired, the opening promo of Smackdown’s Night of Champions, the Tag Team Match, Big Show siding with JBL and the Six Man Tag Match 48 hours ago on Smackdown. They then talk about Batista, as we cut to a sit down interview with ‘The Animal’.
Batista talks about his ‘friendship’ with his former mentor Triple H, saying that he is grateful for all he has done, but that he can’t trust the man that has taught Batista everything he knows. Batista then talks about being World Champion again, saying that no one can stop him from getting back what is his.
We cut back to the announcers, who talk about Batista’s intensity, and say that it could be the deciding factor in this match. The announcers then talk about the ‘Self Made Millionaire’ JBL and his bodyguard the Big Show, as they talk about how the alliance formed a couple of weeks ago on Smackdown.
We then cut to the second pre taped sit down interview, this time with the alliance of John Bradshaw Layfield and the Big Show. JBL talks about he is the favourite in this match, as he has the Big Show by his side, and because he is the most talented man in this business. Big Show just stays in the back with a big grin on his face. JBL then runs down all of his opponents, saying how they are easy beats, as JBL then finishes off by saying that the World Title will come to a true American Hero.
The announcers highlight JBL’s arrogance but they do talk about how he is the clear cut favourite in the match, after ‘buying’ the Big Show, saying that Show will most likely decimate their opponents and JBL will pick up the scraps. The announcers then hype John Cena, saying that he is a former WWE Champion but not a World Heavyweight Champion.
John Cena then appears, talking about he has faced 3 of the other 4 in this match, and he has defeated them, and then there is Batista. Cena cuts a rather humorous promo on his opponents, before going serious and saying that he will be at Summerslam facing the champion, and he will win that World Title. He finishes off his promo by saying if any other of the 4 men want some, they can come get some!
We cut back to the announcers who talk about Cena’s very successful reigns as WWE Champion, his shortest reign going for six months. They talk about how Cena had a year long reign and how he never lost the title. The announcers then talk about ‘The Game’ Triple H, and they talk about the closing stages of Smackdown two nights ago.
We then cut to the last sit down interview with Triple H, who talks about when the rosters were shaken up, he was stripped of his WWE Championship, and he never got the chance to get it back, and he won’t let it get away from him. He then finishes off the intense promo by saying that at Summerslam, the King of Kings goes on his throne for the 13th time.
The announcers then hype HHH’s aggressiveness like Batista earlier, as they say that the heavily anticipated and heavily hyped match will begin right now. ‘I Walk Alone’ then hits to a big reaction, as the Animal Batista makes his way down to the ring, doing his machine gun entrance before slapping hands with the fans. Tista then slaps the steel step before running up them, and then makes his way into the ring.
‘Longhorn’ then hits to huge heat, as the alliance of JBL and his ‘Hired Help’ the Big Show make their way to the ring, JBL doing the Longhorn pose and Big Show doing the Chokeslam taunt. The two get in the ring at the same time, Show via the top rope, as the two do the same taunts in the ring.
‘My Time is Now’ then blasts out of the speakers to a thunderous mixed reaction, definitely leaning towards the positive side, as the former WWE Champion John Cena makes his way to the ring, doing his signature entrance and getting pumped up for this ever so important match.
‘The Game’ by Motorhead then blasts out to a huge pop, as the 12 time World Champion Triple H makes his way to the ring. A couple of boo’s are heard after what HHH did to Kennedy on the past Smackdown, as HHH does his signature entrance, spitting out the water on the ring apron before throwing the bottle into the crowd.
Fatal 5 Way Match
Winner faces World Champion at Summerslam for the World Title
JBL vs. the Big Show vs. Batista vs. Triple H vs. John Cena
The match was intense from the start, all 5 men staring each other down to start the match, before Cena and HHH went at it and Big Show and JBL double teamed Batista. This happened for the early part of the match, before HHH and Cena decided to team up and help Batista, as they double Clotheslined Big Show over the top rope, before the three of them circled JBL, as Bradshaw pleaded for them not to hurt him. They wouldn’t listen and they triple teamed JBL, but Big Show quickly made the save. The alliance quickly took advantage of the rules, bringing a steel chair into the ring. The alliance dominated the next five minutes of the match, Big Show busting Batista open after a vicious chair shot to the head. Two minutes after Batista started bleeding, JBL and Big Show worked on Cena, but they didn’t see HHH roll under the ring, before he looked under the apron. HHH then took out his sledgehammer to an ovation from the crowd, and when Bradshaw attempted to give Cena a Clothesline from Hell, Triple H cracked Bradshaw right in the back with the sledgehammer! JBL held his back immediately upon impact, as Big Show goes over to the ropes to see what had happened, as he was oblivious to HHH recovering as JBL covered the view. Big Show stuck his head through the ropes, and was met with a sledgehammer shot to the skull by Trips! Big Show stumbled away from the ropes but somehow was still on his feet. Triple H then headed up to the top rope, still with sledgehammer in hand, and when Big Show faced him, HHH came off the top rope and nailed Show with a hammer shot right to the temple! Big Show falls down with an almighty thud, as Batista manages to get up, and when Triple H turns around, a bloody Batista spears the shit of HHH! The crowd erupt once again, but right behind Batista, Cena gets a roll up on Batista, but it only gets a two count. Cena gets off of Batista and the two then stare each other down, as the crowd erupt with the two fan favourites (and the two future Summerslam opponents in real life) stare each other down, before it degenerates into an all out brawl! The two battled for one upmanship, and this went on for quite some time, before JBL and Big Show recovered from the sledgehammer shots and then they got back in the ring to dominate the faces in the match.
10 minutes on in the match (so at the 18 minute mark), and after mostly domination from the heels (the faces did get some offence on the others in the match) JBL nailed Big Show inadvertently with a Clothesline from Hell, after HHH ducked it and then he hit his bodyguard. JBL was shocked, and he walked right into a massive Spear from his fierce foe Batista! Batista then went over and shook the ropes, but when he turned around to perhaps give Bradshaw a Batista Bomb, Triple H appeared out of nowhere and gave his protégé a huge Arn Anderson Spinebuster! Trips then quickly went over to Cena and lifted him up before kicking him in the gut and then dragged his Wrestlemania 22 opponent in. Triple H then locked in a double Underhook, looking for a Pedigree, but John twists out of it and then gets HHH in an FU position. Cena is unable to hit the FU, but when HHH gets off of Cena’s shoulders, he walked into a drop toe hold, before Cena applied the STF-U! HHH writhed in pain as he knows that this is the very hold that he tapped out to at WM XXII! HHH tries desperately to crawl to the ropes, but he is unable to and he looks to be fading. Just when it looks like Cena will be the victor, a recovered Big Show steps over Cena, causing him to break the submission! Big Show then lifts a hurt Triple H up, and drills him with a Chokeslam! The crowd erupt with heat, as Show goes over to Bradshaw, and tries to wake him up, but he is unable to do so after the devastating Spear from Batista. Show, getting frustrated, displays his strength by lifting JBL up with his bare hands and throwing him onto HHH, which is counted as a pinfall! At the count of two, however, Batista comes out of nowhere and breaks up the pinfall attempt! Big Show is pissed off, as he wraps a hand around the throat of Batista, looking for a Chokeslam, but Batista hits him with a low blow! Batista then bounced off the ropes opposite and speared both himself and the Big Show out of the ring! JBL manages to finally recover, as he lifts up a still hurt HHH, before bouncing off the ropes and this time connecting with a Clothesline from Hell! JBL flashes a million dollar smile and is about to pin HHH for the victory, but Cena comes out of nowhere, lifts JBL up and plants him with a vicious F-U! Cena then locks in the second STF-U for the match, and it is all over! Cena is going to Summerslam!
Winner and Number 1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title: John Cena
Match Time: 19 minutes and 36 seconds
Cole and Tazz put over the great match we just saw, saying that whoever won that match deserved to win, and they talk about how Cena is going to Summerslam to compete for the World Heavyweight Championship for the first ever time. It takes Cena awhile to get up after the hellacious match that was put on, as the camera cuts out to show the carnage inside and outside of the ring. Once he is recovered, Cena makes his way up to the top rope and does his signature ‘Word Life’ symbol to a huge pop from the crowd, as Cena looks pumped ahead of his title match at Summerslam.
We cut away from John Cena where we are once again backstage with Todd Grisham, since Raw only has the one backstage interviewer.
Grisham: Hello once again, I am Todd Grisham, and right now, my guest, a man that is not competing tonight, and a man that I attempted to interview 6 nights ago, he is the Highest Paid Athlete in WWE history, M.V.P!
MVP walks into the shot to very big heat after what he did to Hornswoggle on Raw. Porter takes a spot near Grisham.
Grisham: Now Montel, before we move onto questions, let us just all take a look at what happened Monday on Raw.
We cut to a video package of what happened this past Monday on Raw, with the ending of the MVP and Finlay match.
MVP then whipped Finlay into the corner, as the crowd groaned as they knew that he would be going for the Playa’s Boot. MVP charged, but all of a sudden, Hornswoggle came out from under the ring and sprayed Porter with a water gun! The crowd laugh but it soon turns to boos, as MVP goes outside and attacks Hornswoggle! The crowd give huge heat, as he nails little Horny with a Playa’s Boot, knocking the little man out!
We return live where we see MVP nodding, as we see Grisham with the microphone, ready to ask a question.
Grisham: MVP, I am going to ask you the same question that I asked you last Monday night, why did you do what you did to Hornswoggle.
MVP: Well firstly Todd, let me just say what a travesty it is, that MVP is not competing tonight. I mean, doesn’t everyone want to see MVP compete here tonight?!
The crowd respond with a resounding ‘NO!’, although MVP ignores them, and goes onto answer the question that Todd asked.
MVP: Now Todd, like I was saying on Monday before I was so rudely interrupted by Finlay...
The crowd erupt at the sound of the 'Belfast Brawler'.
MVP: As I was saying, I did what was best for little Hornswoggle’s health. Finlay, you should actually thank me for what I did to your son, before he got hurt even more!
MVP: You see, Hornswoggle got done a favour, and then Finlay attacks me for helping him out!
The crowd give heat as they know MVP is speaking crap.
MVP: Finlay, I want you to, hell, I DEMAND you to apologize tomorrow night on Raw!
The crowd give big heat for Porter once again.
MVP: Because Finlay, you know that I am Half Man, Half Amazing, and I am better than YOU!
MVP knocks the mic out of his way and leaves the set, with Grisham shocked at the attitude and nerve displayed by the young Montel to the veteran Finlay (promo time= 2 minutes and 20 seconds).
JR: King, MVP certainly does have some nerve, but it is time to move on. Ladies and gentleman, the time has now come, the match that many have been waiting, HBK Shawn Michaels vs. the Deadman, The Undertaker!
King: Not only is it a dream match JR, but it promises to be a brutal one, as they will face off in a STREET FIGHT!
JR: This rivalry started in the Triple Threat Title match a couple of weeks ago after Undertaker walked into an accidental little Sweet Chin Music,
King: Shane McMahon went onto the match 2 weeks later after Undertaker turned on Michaels after a steel chair shot.
JR: The two men went onto cost each other their matches just 6 nights ago on Raw in the Great American Bash Reversal matches.
King: Two veterans are going to face off in one of the most anticipated matches ever!
As the video package cuts out, ‘Sexy Boy’ hits to a huge pop, as the Heartbreak Kid himself Shawn Michaels heads down to the ring, not in his usual attire, rather in street clothes (to put over the Street Fight stipulation).
Garcia: The following match is scheduled for one fall, and it is a Street Fight! In this match, there are no disqualifications or no countouts, as the only way to win the match is by pinfall or submission. Introducing firstly, from San Antonio, Texas, weighing in at 225 pounds, he is the Heartbreak Kid, Shawn Michaels!
Shawn gets on the top rope and points all around the arena, before hopping off and clapping his hands, ready for action. ‘The Darkest Side’ then hits to a huge mixed reaction, leaning a lot more towards heat, but strangely the Undertaker doesn’t come out.
Garcia: (in a confused tone) Introducing his opponent, from Death Valley, weighing in at 295 pounds, the ‘Deadman’, the UNDERTAKER!
The camera cuts to the entrance ramp once again, but the Undertaker is nowhere to be seen. Shawn looks confused, as he knows Taker wouldn’t back down from a fight.
Garcia: (in a confused tone once again, repeating herself) Introducing his opponent, from Death Valley, weighing in at 295 pounds, the ‘Deadman’, the UNDERTAKER!
There is chatter amongst the crowd, as Michaels, Garcia and the referee all exchange looks in the ring. Footsteps are then heard across the arena, as everyone is confused at what is happening, before...
DEAD MAN WALKING
Keep Rollin’, Rollin’, Rollin’, Rollin’!
The crowd ERUPT into a HUGE mixed reaction, as there is a revving around the arena. A bike then rolls down the entrance ramp, and to the shock of the fans and especially to Shawn Michaels, the Undertaker emerges on the bike, with short hair and all, back in his American Badass!
Garcia: (now as confused as ever) Introducing his opponent, from Death Valley, weighing in at 295 pounds, “Big Evil”, the UNDERTAKER!
Michaels is shocked at the return of the Old Undertaker, who acts as though it was nothing. Undertaker and Michaels lock eyes and the two fierce rivals both approach each other, but before blows could be traded, the referee gets in the middle of both men and orders them to go into their corner. The two men oblige, as the referee then rings the bell, getting the highly anticipated contest underway!
Dream Match
Street Fight
‘Big Evil’ The Undertaker vs. ‘HBK’ Shawn Michaels
The crowd erupt at the sound of the bell, as it seems that the Undertaker has most of the men contingent in the crowd behind him, with the rest of the men, the children and the females on the side of HBK. HBK and Taker meet each other in the centre of the ring, trading blows at each other, with the referee not able to do anything as it is all legal, as the match had already gotten ugly. The crowd began a classic cheering war, as the biker Undertaker marks began a ‘Let’s Go Taker’ chant, but they were replied with a ‘Let’s go Michaels’ chant from the rest of the crowd. Taker managed to take the advantage in the brawl because of his brawling technique, as he knocked Shawn down with a punch straight to the heart (his old finisher as “Mean Mark Callous”). It didn’t take long for some weapons to be introduced, as right after Taker knocked Shawn down, he went to the outside right next to the announce tables and forced the workers to get off, so he could grab one of their steel chairs. Taker threw the black chair in the ring, but when he went to get into the ring, Shawn ran at Taker and met him with a knee to the gut whilst Taker was on the apron. HBK hit him with some punches to the gut, until Taker grasped the throat of Shawn, perhaps looking for a signature Chokeslam! The crowd give out a huge mixed reaction for Taker, once again more to heat, but Shawn met him with a kick to the gut through the ropes, causing Taker to bend down. Shawn, not wanting Taker to get back the advantage, quickly got the chair that Undertaker threw into the ring, before hitting Taker right across the back with it! The crowd give a huge pop for Shawn, as the force of the chair shot sends Taker off the apron once again. HBK then dropped the chair and left it in the ring, before he went onto the apron himself. Shawn had his back to the Undertaker and he held onto the ropes, as he waited for Taker to get to his feet, which he soon did. Once he did, Michaels leapt up and springboarded off the second rope, nailing the Undertaker with his signature Moonsault plancha, which he normally saves for at Wrestlemania! The crowd give a huge pop for Michaels as they obviously hoped that the same result of his first Moonsault from Wrestlemania XXIV wouldn’t happen, as Shawn then went over to the ring apron and lifted up the covering, as he looked under the ring, looking for the right weapon. HBK pulled out a trash can full of street signs and its lid, but it seemed as though he wasn’t looking for that, as he stayed looking under the apron. Michaels then got something with his hand and he pulled it out, and when it fully came out, it was revealed to be a left over ladder from the World Tag Team Title match from earlier in the night!
Undertaker managed to get up when Shawn was looking for the ‘right’ weapon, and after pushing the ladder into the ring, Undertaker pushes Shawn right into the ring post, skull first! Shawn is immediately unconscious upon impact of the post, as Taker now looks under the ring. The crowd erupt as they see that the weapon that the Undertaker was taking out was a solid, wooden table! Taker also slides that into the ring as he doesn’t use it just yet, as he goes back to Michaels, before throwing him all the way over the security barricade and into the crowd! Taker then bad mouths some fans that are in the first couple of rows, giving Shawn, with some help from the crowd, to recover, as Shawn seems to have something in his hand. Taker then bends over to grab Shawn, only to be met with a face full of food! Taker has sauce in his eyes, and when he eventually gets it off, Shawn is on the barricade and leaps off, but Taker holds on! Taker then flips Shawn around so his head is closer to the floor. Undertaker then walks over to the steel steps, before dropping him head first onto the steel steps! Shawn over sells like crazy, rolling around on the mats, as it is soon shown that blood is trickling down Michaels’ forehead. Taker then rolls Shawn into the ring, as he looks to use the weapons to his advantage. Taker goes over to the trash can first, getting a street ‘stop’ sign, and begins to work over the back of Shawn, hitting him repeatedly and uncontrollably. The referee manages to separate Undertaker from Shawn, as the street sign is very bent. HBK manages to get up and is holding his back, as Taker charges at HBK with the street sign held up, but taking a page out of The Nature Boy Ric Flair’s book, as Shawn low blows an incoming Undertaker! The crowd give out a huge pop, as Shawn then rips the sign out of Taker’s hands, before throwing it to the mat. Shawn then pulls a doubled over Undertaker in a front face lock, before dropping the biker onto the sign with a perfect Spike DDT! The crowd give out a huge pop, as Michaels gets up and goes over to the trash can once again, as he gets the trash can lid that Taker threw to get the sign, as Michaels measures Taker, and when he does get up, Michaels NAILS Taker in the head with the can lid! Undertaker doesn’t go down straight away, as Michaels looks at Taker, before the Showstopper quickly hits him with a Step up Enziguiri!
The crowd give another huge pop once again, as Taker eventually falls onto his back, as Shawn then rolls the actual garbage can over towards where Taker was recovering. Taker was then lifted up by Shawn, who then went for a suplex onto the sign filled trash can, but Taker managed to block. Shawn was thrown over the can, but he came straight back and nailed a thumb to the eye, as the garbage can was in between both men. Shawn then seized a crouched Undertaker and quickly pulled him into a front face lock once again, before hitting a huge swinging neckbreaker right onto the trash can, as there was a sickening thud when Undertaker’s body smacked the can. The can was bent under the weight of Taker, as a bloody Shawn went over to where Lillian Garcia was once again, as this time it was Shawn’s turn to get a steel chair. Shawn slid into the ring with the chair in hand, as the Undertaker rolls off of the trash can, flattening it completely. Shawn then managed to lift up the Undertaker, before putting him in between his legs, like in the first stage of a Powerbomb. Michaels didn’t lift up Taker however, but instead he nailed the Deadman with a Pull Back Pile Driver, right onto the steel chair that he had just brought into the ring! The crowd give out a huge pop, as Shawn seemed to be planning up to something with the ladder, as he went straight to it and set it up, near the top rope. While Taker was laid out in the centre of the ring, Shawn climbed up to the top rope before grabbing the ladder, as the crowd rise in anticipation for what high risk move Shawn was about to pull off. Shawn begins to climb to the top of the ladder, before he got to the top rung and sat on the top of the 10 foot object. Shawn, with shades of his protégé in Paul London from earlier in the night for his ladder match, looks around the arena impressively, before with shades of Wrestlemania 22 in his Street Fight with Vince McMahon, nails the Undertaker with a signature Diving Elbow Drop from off the top of the 10 foot ladder! The crowd once again erupt into a huge pop, as both Shawn and Taker are laid out in the centre of the ring, as the camera zooms in to the Undertaker’s face, which is now crimson, as it seems to be busted open after the devastating Pull Back Pile Driver onto the chair which set up the massive ladder elbow drop from Shawn.
HBK managed to get up, but since he saw that Taker was starting to get up, he didn’t go for the cover, but this time, he instead goes to the corner, and begins to tune up the band! The crowd join in and hoping that the famed Sweet Chin Music would connect, but when Shawn charges at Taker, Undertaker exacts a little revenge from a little earlier by nailing Shawn with a low blow (just like Cyber Sunday 2007 with Michaels vs. Orton)! Shawn holds onto his nuts and falls down, as Taker goes over to one of the steel chairs that was lying on the mat and in the ring, and he laid it down in the centre of the ring. Taker then lifts up the other chair that had just busted him open, before putting that on top of the other chair, creating a double stack of chairs! Undertaker then goes back over to a sore Michaels (who is still holding his crotch), before Taker drags Michaels in and grabs him by the throat with one hand, as the crowd erupt into a huge mixed reaction. Michaels begins to battle out of it, nailing Taker with some right hands, attempting to free the Undertaker’s tight grasp. Shawn seems to be able to let the Undertaker go by connecting with the punches, but Taker smashes Shawn right in the face with his free hand! While Shawn is out of it, Taker gets the free hand that he just punch Shawn with before seizing the back of his wrestling attire, as Taker then drops Shawn with a Chokeslam, directly onto the two steel chairs that he had just set up earlier! The crowd erupt once again in a big mixed reaction, as Undertaker climbs over Shawn and then hooks the leg, making what seems to be a successful cover. 1...2...Undertaker lifts the head up of Shawn, for some reason breaking up the count and what was going to be a certain victory for Taker! The crowd were confused at what was going on, as Taker then did his classic cut throat taunt, before lifting up a helpless Shawn, scooping him up and getting him in a Pumphandle slam position, looking for the Tombstone Piledriver! Undertaker then turns around, looking to nail the devastating move onto the stacked chairs! Undertaker goes on top of the chairs and looks to destroy Shawn with his Piledriver, but Shawn slides off of his back. Taker looks around, and HBK meets him with a signature Atomic Drop!
Michaels then gets the garbage can lid, before smashing the head of Taker with the trash can lid! Taker doesn’t go straight away, but instead bounces off the ropes, as Shawn nails Taker with a perfectly placed drop toe hold, sending Undertaker’s head crashing down onto the chairs! The crowd pop as it looks as though Taker became unconscious as soon as his head hit the chair, as Michaels plays to the crowd once again; doing his taunt like he does during his entrance, flexing his muscles while stretching his legs out. Michaels then looks down at Taker, before doing his signature crotch crop to ‘DX’ chants from the crowd, with several fans doing the DX hand signal. Blood then begins to poor out freely from the Undertaker’s open wound, as Shawn gets the ladder that he used earlier, before he slams it directly onto Taker! Shawn then jumps up, before coming crashing down on the ladder and nails a jumping splash onto the ladder that was on the Undertaker! Shawn rolls off, holding his gut as Undertaker looks gone, with Shawn eventually managing to get up, before he seizes the legs of Taker, and then looks around the arena, to a mixture of a big pop and a couple of ‘WOO’s’. Shawn then gets the leg of Taker, twisting around and then locking in Ric Flair’s infamous Figure Four Leg Lock to a massive pop from the crowd. Undertaker rolls around and attempts to get out of it, as he knows that even if he does get to the ropes, Michaels doesn’t have to let go. After a full minute in the hold, Michaels lets go, as he knows that Undertaker would fight the pain and not give up, as even though it did look like he would tap out, he still held on. Michaels then lifts up Taker, before nailing a signature body slam onto the chairs! Michaels then heads up top, but instead of going onto the apron, he simply climbs up the turnbuckles from inside the ring, so that his back is towards Undertaker. Shawn looks to be attempting his second Moonsault of the match, and he leaps off, looking for an Asai Moonsault onto the chairs, and that is exactly what he did, nail a Moonsault onto the chairs, as Taker had sensed Shawn coming and rolled off of the chairs! Shawn, with the blood now caked on his face, is out of it, holding his obviously hurt stomach, as the Undertaker sits up! The crowd give out huge heat now, although there is still an odd pop although it is obvious that they are backing Shawn, as Taker then gets up on his feet, surprisingly not going over to capitalize on a hurt Shawn.
A busted open Taker then heads to the outside, where he strangely went to his bike, which was parked at the end of the entrance ramp (where Palumbo usually parks his bike in real life). Taker then went towards the wheel of the bike, before pulling off one of the chains of the bike. Taker slides it into the ring, but he doesn’t use it just yet, as he lifts up one of the chairs that are in the ring, before he approaches Shawn, but the thing is, Taker doesn’t see that Michaels has a chair of his own! Once Taker gets within striking distance of Michaels, Shawn gets up and swings the chair, making it collide with Taker’s chair, as the two chairs smash right into the open wound of the man that is undefeated at Wrestlemania! Taker stands on wobbly legs, as a seemingly recovered Michaels miraculously kips up, before charging at Undertaker and hitting him with a huge Sweet Chin Music! The crowd give out a huge reaction, but the physical damage that Michaels had endured during the match takes its toll, as he cannot capitalize straight away, being knocked out on the mat! Michaels eventually manages to crawl over the top of Taker, and this seems to be surely it! 1...2...NO! Somehow, the Undertaker managed to roll his left shoulder up, denying Shawn the huge victory in the massive encounter! Shawn can’t believe it but he can’t get up straight away, before he finally manages to stand on his own two legs and he approaches Taker but he is met with a huge right hand! Michaels crumbles to the floor as the crowd wonder how the punch was so affective, as the camera zooms in and we see that Taker’s hand was wrapped up with the bike chain! The crowd pours in the heat, but Taker doesn’t care, as he gets up and then mounts on the Heart Break Kid. Taker then pulverises the head of Shawn with his chain wrapped fist, right into the wound of Shawn! Michaels is completely unconscious as the referee attempts to get Taker off, but Undertaker is relentless! After 15 straight shots to the forehead of the veteran, Taker finally gets off, before going towards the table that was resting on the floor. Taker then sets up the table in the middle of the ring, as the crowd are in stunned silence at the sight of a bloody, unconscious Shawn lying in the middle of the blood stained mat. After setting up the table, Taker then goes over to Shawn, and lifts up the dead weight that is Michaels, before in a sickening act, wrapping the chain that he was holding around the neck of Shawn, before tying it on! Shawn obviously can’t breathe as the crowd are shocked at their hero being mauled, as Taker puts Shawn in between his legs, chain still around the throat. As the final exclamation point, Taker finishes off the match by nailing Shawn with the Last Ride through the table! Taker then rubs it in by putting his foot over the limp carcass of Shawn, as the referee makes the sickening cover. 1..2..3!
Winner: The Undertaker
Match Time: 14 minutes and 7 seconds
JR: (sombre tone) Thank God this is over. The Undertaker has absolutely destroyed Shawn Michaels here tonight.
King: In all my years in this business, I have near seen anything as brutal as that attack by the Undertaker.
The crowd are absolutely silent and are stunned at what they have seen, the decimation of Shawn Michaels. Undertaker doesn’t bother getting his hands raised in victory, as he just goes to the outside and goes to his bike. Taker is about to start it, but he stops, and looks back at the ring, where the referee and several doctors are tending to Michaels in the ring. Taker then gets off of his bike, walks up the steps purposely and gets into the ring.
JR: Oh what is he doing now? What has Shawn done to him?
Taker then gets in the ring, as the referees and the other officials tell a demonic Taker to back off, but Taker takes them all out, punching them, booting them, and even giving one a signature huge Chokeslam! Taker then lifts up Shawn, before tossing poor Michaels out of the ring.
King: Where is he going with him, this is enough!
Undertaker drags Shawn up the ramp, before going up to the top of the stage, where the tables are down below. Taker then throws Shawn into the GAB set, before once again putting him between his legs, and going near the edge of the stage.
King: Oh no, don’t do it Undertaker! Let him live!
Undertaker doesn’t listen to the pleas from the crowd, as he lifts a helpless Shawn up onto his shoulders, as the crowd give huge heat as they know what they are about to witness. The camera zooms in to little kids who are closing their eyes (as if you would), as TAKER LAST RIDES HBK OFF OF THE STAGE AND THROUGH THE PRODUCTION TABLES 20 FEET BELOW!
JR: BAH GAWD! HE’S KILLED HIM! HE’S KILLED HIM!
More officials come rushing out along with EMT’s, as they quickly get to Shawn and attempt to help him up and attempt to wake him. A camera is right at Undertaker’s feet as it looks up, where a sick, twisted smile comes over the face of the Deadman. Undertaker then makes the long walk down the entrance ramp, as he gets on his bike and leaves to a horrible ovation.
King: (in a depressed tone) Ladies and gentlemen, we may have just witnessed the last ever match of Shawn Michaels.
JR: That man is a sick bastard! Absolutely no respect for the legend of Shawn Michaels, who could have been by gawd killed!
We go back to the EMT’s who have managed to put Shawn on a stretcher and have put a neck brace on him, being extra careful that they don’t do anything to damage what could be a broken neck. HBK is wheeled out of the arena to a standing ovation from the crowd, as we could have witnessed what could be HBK’s last ever match, and what could be HBK’s last ever appearance on a TV screen...
*A video package plays promoting Ric Flair on Pay Per View, including never before seen footage of after Ric’s Farewell Raw*
Cole: Well ladies and gentleman, after announcing the Undertaker’s matches for almost five years when he was on Smackdown, I have never seen the Undertaker quite like what he did just then to Shawn Michaels.
Tazz: No doubt, Cole. And we wish Shawn luck in his recovery, and hopefully we see Shawn back on Raw in the future.
Cole: Anyway, moving on, coming up is Smackdown’s main event tonight, the World Heavyweight Championship match.
Tazz: A highly anticipated match no doubt, between Edge and World Champ Mr. Kennedy. And Cole, you forgot to mention that this match is a Replay Match.
Cole: And that makes this match so difficult for Edge, as whenever he breaks the rules, the match will be restarted!
Tazz: And that also means that interference from the Rated R Superstars is prohibited, there are no interferences!
Cole: This started 3 weeks ago when Mr. Kennedy won his first World Championship after defeating Edge after a Mic Check!
Tazz: Kennedy embarrassed Edge the next week, jumping out of a cake when Edge tried to crash Ken’s celebration party.
Cole: Edge ambushed a tied up Kennedy one week later, leaving an unconscious Kennedy a bloody pulp.
Tazz: And remember, the winner of this match will go onto face the new Number 1 Contender John Cena at Summerslam!
Cole: Take a look at this video package, for the World Heavyweight Championship Replay Match!
World Heavyweight Title Match
Replay Match
Mr. Kennedy © vs. Edge
Edge’s theme hits, and The Rated R Superstar steps out to huge heat. He stops halfway down the ramp, before throwing “the devil horns” into the air, shooting off red, white & blue pyro, honouring the USA. Edge smirks at the crowd’s reaction, cocky and confident as ever. He slides into the ring, and takes his place in the corner.
The fans go insane when the famous first seconds of Mr. Kennedy’s theme song send shockwaves throughout the arena. After a few seconds, the anticipation building up, The World Heavyweight Champion stepping out from behind the curtain, his face etched with fury and rage. Kennedy has been waiting to get his hands on Edge ever since what Edge to him just two weeks ago, and last week’s Main Event wasn’t enough. He immediately takes off his shirt and throws it into the crowd, before sliding into the ring, looking to torture Edge, but the ref pulls them apart and tells them to take their respective corners.
Howard Finkel steps into the ring, ready to announce for the first time in a while. He takes his place in the centre, and raises the mic to his lips.
Finkel: Ladies and gentlemen, it is now time, for Smackdown’s MAIN EVENT!
Finkel pauses as the fan’s cheers grow louder.
Finkel: The following is a Replay Match. The match will keep restarting until one man pins his opponent fair and square.
Finkel once again pauses.
Finkel: In the corner to my left, the challenger, standing at 6’5, weighing in at 240 pounds, residing in Toronto, Canada, he is The Rated R Superstar….EDDDGE!
The fans give off big heat as the Rated R Superstar poses in the middle of the ring. He is ushered back into his corner, and Finkel once again raises the mic up to his lips. He is ready to introduce Kennedy, when he notices the stern look Kennedy is giving him. Finkel nods, and exits the ring. Kennedy nods at Finkel and takes his place in the centre, when the lights dim down. A spotlight is on Kennedy, who extends his hand into the air, catching the signature silver mic falling down from the ceiling. He looks around, and leans in closer to the microphone.
Mr. Kennedy: And as always, standing tall in the middle of the ring at 6’2, I am The World Heavyweight Champion!
Mr. Kennedy pauses as the fans cheers’ are getting louder.
Mr. Kennedy: I weigh in at 243 pounds…
Mr. Kennedy once again pauses as the fans get ready for the next part…
Mr. Kennedy: I hail from…GREEN BAY WISCONSINNNNNNNNAH!
Mr. Kennedy inhales deeply…but instead lets the crowd take over. The fans shout “MR.KENNEDY” at the top of their lungs. Kennedy smiles, and signals for the crowd to quiet down.
Mr. Kennedy: Kennedy…
The fans start cheering even louder as the lights come back on, and the mic slowly rises up to the ceiling. Kennedy goes back to his corner and hands his title to the ref, who holds it up in the air. He passes it on to a staff member on the outside, and signals for the time keeper to ring the bell! This epic contest is finally under way!
Kennedy charges at Edge, attempting to get revenge from two weeks ago after being ambushed by the Rated R Superstar, and unfortunately for Edge, when he went to get out of the ring and out of danger, Kennedy trapped him in the corner and nailed him with some huge right hands, making Edge try to cover up by putting his elbows up against his head, but that also made his sternum unprotected, as Kennedy was backed away by the referee from Edge, as Kennedy had a big smirk on his face, as ‘KENNEDY’ chants, getting behind their favourite champion. Edge gets out of the corner that he was stranded in, as Kennedy then pulls his challenger in and then wraps his left arm over the top of Edge’s right shoulder, looking for his signature Mic Check! Edge manages to elbow out of the predicament, however, but Kennedy was expecting it, as when Edge attempts a right hand punch, Kennedy manages to duck under it and then connect with some punches of his own, each one knocking the former World Champion down. Kennedy then nails Edge with an Atomic Drop to a pop from the crowd as Edge crumbles to the floor as Kennedy raises his arms in jubilation. Kennedy then lifts up the Ultimate Opportunist and then spins him around so that Edge’s back is facing Kennedy’s front, as Kennedy gets Edge in a headlock and then he drills him down with a Neck Breaker! Edge holds the back of his neck in pain, as he did get it surgically repaired a few years ago. Kennedy lifts Edge back up, before he whips him off of the ropes. Once Edge comes back to the World Champion, Kennedy bends down, looking for a back body drop, but Edge notices what Kennedy is doing, as he goes to kick Kennedy, but the aware Kennedy grabs onto his foot, before shaking his head. Kennedy then gets Edge onto his shoulders into a Standing Fireman’s Carry position, looking for a Rolling Fireman’s Carry Slam (or a Standing Green Bay Plunge), and it connects, Edge’s back smacking the canvas. Kennedy then climbs over for the cover, and after complete domination, it may be over already! 1...2...NO!! Edge manages to rolls his right shoulder up to break the pinfall. The crowd give heat at Edge managing to kick out, but Kennedy stays on the offensive, wanting to inflict as much damage as possible after the assault on Kennedy by Edge a few weeks ago, as Kennedy has a demonic look in his eye. Kennedy then lifts up Edge, before kicking him in the gut and then getting him in a front face lock. Kennedy then drops Edge with a Spike DDT, as the crowd pop since Edge hasn’t gotten any offense in in this match.
***RECAPPED*** Unfortunately for the fans and Kennedy, Edge did manage to get some offence in, and for quite some time, after Edge dodged an attempted Kenton Bomb from off the top rope, quickly followed by an Edgecution, but that could only get a two count. Edge then works over the right leg of Kennedy, locking in the Edgecator, or in other words an Inverted Sharpshooter. Edge locks in various other submissions moves on Kennedy that would damage the right knee, including a Figure Four Leg Lock, but Kennedy managed to escape all of these moves. Edge began to get frustrated at Mr. Kennedy’s resilience, as he then went to the corner and held onto the middle ropes before waving his hand up and down, signalling for Ken to get back up. The crowd give heat as they know Edge is going for a Spear, and it connects! The crowd erupt in huge heat and shock, as they didn’t think the WWE would have Kennedy’s rein this short, but somehow, the World Heavyweight Champion managed to kick out, continuing the match. Edge reached boiling point over not being able to beat Kennedy, as he signals to the back, and to big heat, the Rated R Superstars make their way down to the ring, Edge seemingly forgetting that this match is a Replay Match. Hawkins and Ryder double team as Edge then joins in on the fun, before he gets a steel chair from the timekeeper. The referee restarts the match as per the rules of the Replay Match, but it also means that the match will continually be restarted as the onslaught continues, so Edge will most likely win this match. Hawkins and Ryder hold the arms of Kennedy near the ropes, as Edge bad mouths the World Champion. Edge attempts a chair shot to the skull of Kennedy, but Ken somehow ducks under the shot with the Edge Heads holding him, as the steel chair ricochets off of the ropes and smacks Edge in the head. Hawkins and Ryder release Kennedy in shock and go to help their mentor, but when they turn around, they are each met with a steel chair shot from Kennedy, knocking them out and sending both of them out of the ring and causing them to scarper down the ramp. Kennedy collapses from the fatigue and Edge is still out after the chair shot from himself, and at the 10 and a half minute mark of this match, we are back to an even playing field! ***END OF RECAP***
The two are out cold on the mat, as the crowd erupt into a ‘KENNEDY’ chant, trying to get behind their favourite champion. Kennedy and Edge get up at the same time, but when Kennedy lifts Edge up onto his shoulders looking for another Standing Green Bay Plunge, Edgegets off of Ken's shoulders and hits an Edge O Matic! The crowd erupt in heat, as Edge surprisingly doesn't o for the pin, but instead waits once again for Kennedy to get up. Edge does the 'get up' taunt, obviously going for the Spear, as a groggy Kennedy begins to get up, the crowd hoping he will get down. Edge then charges at a recovered Kennedy, attempting his second Spear of the match, but Kennedy gives Edge a low blow! The referee rings the bell as the crowd erupts, knowing what has happened!
Finkel: Ladies and gentlemen, I have just been informed that Mr. Kennedy has gotten himself disqualified, so this match will be restarted!
Kennedy then smirks as he did exactly what Edge did earlier with his lackeys, as Kennedy looks at a hurt Edge, but when he is about to hit him, he stops and shakes his finger and his head simultaneously, before turning around and eyes the steel chair that he just used to clear the Rated R Superstars from the ring, as he lifts it up and smacks it on the canvas several times to wake Edge up. Kennedy then has the same demonic look in his eye that he had earlier in the match, before he gets the chair and rams it right into Edge’s head! The crowd erupts in cheers once again, as the referee rings the bell and gives the same message to the Fink.
Finkel: Ladies and gentlemen, I have just been informed that Mr. Kennedy has once again gotten himself disqualified, so this match will be restarted!
The announcers highlight how Kennedy used the rules to his advantage much like what Edge did earlier in the match, being an Ultimate Opportunist. Kennedy then smirks and lifts up Edge, looking to inflict the final nail in the coffin of Edge. Kennedy then drags Edge in and wraps his left arm around the right shoulder of Edge once again, looking for the Mic Check on Edge, and it connects this time! The crowd give what is so far the loudest pop of the night, as Kennedy climbs over Edge for the cover as the referee drops down to his knees and makes the count. 1...2...3!!!
Winner and STILL World Heavyweight Champion Mr. Kennedy (KENNEDY!)
Tazz: I don’t believe it! Mr. Kennedy has defeated Edge in what has to be classified as an upset!
Cole: No doubt partner. Kennedy brought all he had to this match, bending the rules to perfection much like Edge did, and Mr. Kennedy is successful in his first ever title defence.
Kennedy: The winner of this match, and still your World Heavyweight Champion, MR. KENNEDY!!!!!
The crowd erupt into massive applause for the brash youngster champion, as Kennedy gets ready for his infamous last line.
Kennedy:KENNEDYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!
We see Kennedy receive his World Heavyweight Title from the referee, as he makes his way up the ramp, before he stops at the stage and lifts up his World Championship to a huge pop from the crowd.
Cole:Well there you see it, ladies and gentlemen, still your World Heavyweight Champion, Ken Kennedy. Congratulations Ken!
We then cut to a Summerslam promo, hyping Summerslam which will air live on PPV on the 17th of August.
JR: And now King, it is the time that we have all been waiting for, as it is main event time, and the WWE Championship will be decided!
King: This match is one of the most anticipated matches in recent memory, as the WWE Championship will be up for grabs when Randy Orton faces Jeff Hardy!
JR: This all started when Randy Orton returned from his supposed injury and cost Jeff the WWE Championship on Raw’s Night of Champions in the Triple Threat match.
King: This feud has grown every week, and this has lead to Randy Orton putting Kane on the shelf, simply to send him a message.
JR: Each man has traded victories over each other before, with Randy defeating Jeff at the Royal Rumble to retain the WWE Championship.
King: Jeff has managed to defeat Randy in several tag team matches, but never in a one on one match.
JR: Orton has gotten the last laugh, giving Hardy an RKO after Jeff’s successful victory over the Undertaker six days ago on Raw.
King: Jeff will be aiming for his first ever WWE Championship, but once again he finds Randy Orton in his path.
JR: Have a look at how this rivalry has progressed, starting all the way back in January, when Randy was the WWE Champion.
“I HEAR VOICES IN MY HEAD, THEY CALL TO ME! THEY UNDERSTAND, THEY TALK TO ME!”
“Voices” continues playing to massive heat, as the Legend Killer makes his way down to the ring, extremely focussed for this upcoming main event match.
JR: This man came back from a supposed broken collarbone after only three weeks of missing out on the action. Randy is perhaps going in as the favourite tonight, since he got the better of Jeff six nights ago on Raw.
King: Also, Randy knows what it is like to be a WWE Champion, and one may think that Jeff could crack under the pressure of such a huge match.
Garcia: The following match is scheduled for one fall, and it is for the WWE Championship. Making his way to the ring first, from St. Louis Missouri, weighing in at 247 pounds, Randy ORTON!
The crowd give huge heat for the “Legend Killer” who climbs up to the top rope and does his Destiny pose.
“No More Words” then blasts out to an ear splitting ovation, as the Thrill Seeker himself Jeff Hardy makes his way to the ring, doing his hand pose and looks a little nervous. Jeff slaps the desperate fans hands, as Randy and Jeff don’t take their eyes off each other.
JR: Jeff Hardy is aiming for his first WWE Title tonight, and you’d think that these two would know each other by now, since they’re rivalry back in January.
King: Don’t forget JR, these two have been neck and neck for the past month, and Jeff will surely still be feeling the effects of that devastating RKO on Monday’s Raw.
Garcia: Now making his way to the ring, from Cameron, North Carolina, weighing in at 225 pounds, Jeff Hardy!
Hardy gets a massive pop from the crowd, as he climbs up to the top rope once again doing his hand signal. Hardy hops down from the top rope and his music stops playing, as the bell rings, with the eager crowd giving a huge pop.
Main Event
WWE Championship Match
Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton
The crowd are going wild, ready for this match that they have been looking forward to ever since before the match was announced, from where this rivalry started when Jeff was on his way to becoming the WWE Champion and Randy Orton interfered. The crowd let out a huge “HARDY, HARDY!” chant, getting behind the man that is aiming to become the WWE Champion for the first time ever. The two meet in the centre of the ring, where they begin bad mouthing each other, before Orton, just to make himself get over as a bigger heel, slaps Jeff right in the side of the face! Randy was successful in doing this, as the crowd let out a huge amount of heat, as Jeff Hardy keeps his head in the same position as it was after Orton slapped him, before raising his hand up and rubbing his cheek. Orton lets out a smirk, but all of a sudden, he is met with a huge right hand from Hardy! Hardy continues with the right hands, before backing Orton into one of the corner turnbuckles. Hardy begins hitting more right hands, nailing 4 punches right to the head of Orton. Orton attempts to protect his head by covering it with his hands, but this leaves his sternum unprotected. Only one minute into the match, Hardy had taken control, as he goes to the middle of the ring, before charging back before nailing him with a turnbuckle clothesline! Orton doesn’t go down but is merely groggy in the corner, but when he goes for another punch, Orton ducks under it and throws him into the corner, as Orton takes over what Hardy was doing earlier in punching Hardy. Orton then takes Hardy out of the corner and takes him to the middle of the ropes, before whipping him and attempting a clothesline, but Hardy managed to duck under the attempt. When Hardy went back, he nailed Orton with a running Hurricanrana! Jeff showed that he was ready for this huge match, as Hardy then played for the fans once again, and he went to lift Orton up, only for Hardy to be met with a beautifully placed European Uppercut, straight to the jaw of Jeff. Randy then lifts Hardy up, and hits him with a right hand, backing him into a corner once again. This time, however, Randy kept the control, nailing Hardy all around his body with right and left hands. He brought Hardy out of the corner, and then knocked Jeff down with one of his signature and picture perfect Standing Dropkicks! Randy then jumped up into a vertical leap, and when he came down, he nailed Jeff with a big knee drop to his back.
Randy then capitalized on the knee drop to the back, quickly applied a body scissors, applying pressure on the back and sucking the life out of Hardy and trying to end the match quickly. Hardy seemed to be in trouble, as he tried everything to get Orton off of him, including elbowing Orton in the back of the head (which didn’t work), as Orton was relentless in applying the pressure. Hardy showed the strain on his face, as he used his hands to try and separate the leg hold of Orton, but nothing was successful in getting Randy off of him. Orton seemed sick of Hardy trying to break the hold, so he connected with some wild shots to the back of the head of Hardy, but unfortunately for Randy, it was the wrong decision, as all this did was seem to fire Hardy up. Hardy went back to what he did at the start to attempt to break the body scissors which Orton was applying by elbowing Orton, but this time he didn’t stop, forcing Orton to break the hold to a big pop from the crowd. The two quickly got up off of the mat, as Hardy went for a kick to the gut, but Orton held on to Hardy’s leg, only to be met with a beautiful Leg Feed Mule Kick by Jeff! The crowd give a big pop for Jeff as Randy lies on his stomach, in perfect position for Jeff’s next move (what a coincidence). Jeff goes over to the legs of Orton, before lifting them up, and then leg dropping his legs down. Randy’s neck is at an awkward angle, as Jeff has him in the double leg roll up pin! 1..2..NO! Orton manages to get out of the unorthodox pin and keep his chances in the match. Hardy stays on the offense, as he lifts Orton up and connects with a kick to the gut. Hardy then got Orton in the first stage of a suplex (front face lock), before lifting Orton up. Instead of hitting the self proclaimed “One Man Dynasty” with a suplex, however, he throws him forward, and nails a Sitout Inverted Suplex! Hardy does the “Gunz” taunt once again, before he makes his way to the top rope, perhaps thinking for a Swanton Bomb, but before he could even dive off of the top rope, Orton had gotten up extremely quickly, and pushed Hardy off of the top rope and all the way down to the arena floor!
Randy then smirked and looked over the ropes and a fallen and hurt Hardy, before screaming out “I am the champion” to heat from the crowd, before doing his ‘Destiny’ arm pose, to even bigger heat. Randy then went outside the ring and went to where Hardy was, before he seized him and walked away from the steel steps with Hardy in his grasp. Orton then attempted to whip Hardy shoulder first into the steel steps, but Hardy managed to reverse, sending Orton’s surgically repaired shoulder from 2005 into the steps with a sickening thud, as the top part of the steps fell off top the protective mats with a crash. Orton rolled in agony and held onto his collarbone which also had just been surgically repaired, as Hardy high fived the fans that were nearby. Orton then got up, with the agony showing on his face, as Hardy climbed up onto the security barricade, as the crowd rose, knowing what move Jeff was about to do next. Hardy then showed great balance and ran across the barricade, and when he came down, he nailed Orton with his classic clothesline off of the barricade! Hardy looked in fantastic shape for this huge match, as rolled Orton in the ring. Orton crawled and sat in the corner, trying to gain some breath, but Hardy was taking none of it, as he quickly charged, before getting the top rope with both of his hands, before jumping up, before crashing down onto Orton with a devastating turnbuckle dropkick to the chest! Orton crawled out of the corner in pain, as Jeff went out onto the apron. Orton got up in pain, as with shades of CM Punk in his brother’s match earlier, Hardy attempts a Slingshot Crossbody, but Orton seemed to be Playing Possum as he nailed Hardy with a dropkick when he was coming towards him! Orton then smirked, before he lifted Hardy up and nailed him with a powerful Scoop Powerslam. Orton then grabs the right leg of Jeff, before kicking him in the thigh repeatedly, seemingly targeting the leg of Hardy. Orton then gets the same leg of Hardy, before he trapped it in between his own legs. Orton then went down on his knees, in the process crushing the knee of Hardy! The crowd give massive heat for this, as Orton seems pleased with the damage he has seemingly caused to Jeff’s knee, as JR puts over that it will probably take away Jeff’s high flying ability. Randy posed to the crowd once more to gain more heat, and that was what exactly happened, causing a smirk to come over the face of Orton, knowing that he has the WWE fans in the palm of his hand.
Randy lifts up Hardy and applies a face lock with his back facing him, perhaps looking for the RKO, but Hardy pushes Orton forwards, right into the turnbuckles! Orton then staggers out of the corner, and Hardy quickly takes the advantage, getting Orton in a School Boy Roll Up! Could this be what Hardy needs to win the title? 1...2...NO! Orton somehow managed to get out of the surprising roll up and deny Hardy his first WWE Championship. A shocked Orton gets up and retaliates, knocking Hardy down with a kick to the gut, followed by a DDT. Randy then rolls over Hardy onto his back, before climbing over and hooking the leg, perhaps going to become the WWE Champion for the third time in his career (and his fourth World Title reign overall)! 1...2...Hardy somehow manages to kick out, keeping his dream alive of winning the biggest prize in Sports Entertainment (in the words of Good Ole Jim Ross). Randy is obviously upset, and as many “bad guys” do in this situation, he blames the referee for a slow count, signalling that it should have been three and Orton should be the champ. Randy then heads up to the top rope, looking to end the match from unfamiliar territory. A hurt Hardy manages to get to his feet, and this is when Orton struck, attempting to hit a Crossbody from off the top rope, his finisher from the pre- Evolution days! Orton’s arguing with the referee proved to turn out very costly, however, as Hardy saw him coming and ducked out of the way, causing Orton’s stomach to smack the canvas with a thud after making the ‘long’ trip down from the top! Hardy sees this as the opening that he needs to get back in the match, so he did what Orton did just earlier and headed up to the top rope, like Orton going for a high risk manoeuvre. Jeff then waits for Orton to get to an upright position like Orton just did, and after Orton did get up (holding his gut), Jeff leapt off of the top rope and attempted a high risk Diving Hurricanrana! Orton, showing great strength in his upper body, manages to hold onto an incoming Jeff, so that he is in a Powerbomb position. Randy then places Jeff on his shoulder and wraps his arms around him (like Bobby Lashley’s old finisher the Dominator), before dropping Jeff down into a Gutwrench Elevated Neckbreaker!
Randy smirks down at Hardy, as Orton is still obviously in the driver’s seat in this match, as Hardy has a look of shock on his face, evidently not expecting to reverse, and obviously not in the way he did. Orton then grabs Hardy by the hair and then lifts him up, before tucking Hardy’s head under his arm, and nailing him with his unique and sick backbreaker! Randy then smirks, before dropping a knee directly onto the back of Hardy once again, who groans in pain once he is hit. Randy then yet again lifts up Jeff, before whipping him into the corner. Randy then gets onto the second rope, before drilling Jeff with a punch to the head, followed by another seven. When Randy was going for the ninth punch, Jeff held onto Randy’s hand, and he pushes him off. Jeff then went for a kick to the gut, but Orton held on. Jeff then went for his signature Mule Kick for the second time in the match, but unlike before, Randy ducked under it and Jeff smashed the canvas. Randy then lifted up Hardy, and nailed him with a European Uppercut, and Hardy bounced off of the ropes, not completely out of it, before being met with a beautiful standing dropkick from Orton. Randy then climbs over Hardy for the cover, 1...2...Hardy kicks out right after the ref counts to two. Randy then lifts up Jeff, and once again whips him into the corner, but out of absolutely nowhere, Jeff jumps onto the top rope and nails Randy with the Whisper in the Wind!! The crowd give an almighty pop, as both men are down after nearly 12 minutes of pure action! Hardy begins to stir, and after 10 seconds with an eager crowd willing him on, Jeff lifts up his left arm, and dramatically lays it over the chest of Orton to a huge pop from the crowd. Has Jeff Hardy become the WWE Champion? 1...2...NO! Randy manages to grab onto the bottom rope, once again denying Jeff Hardy the WWE Championship! Jeff and the crowd are shocked, as Jeff then lifts up Randy. Hardy then connects with a kick to the gut, before getting him in a front face lock. Twist of Fate!? When Hardy attempts his signature move, Randy, just like at the Rumble, managed to spin out of it and looked for the RKO, but with Orton facing the right side, FIRE IGNITED AT THE ENTRANCE WAY, AND THEN AT THE RINGPOSTS! Randy looks as though he has seen a ghost and didn’t want to believe and couldn’t believe that Kane is here, but this gives Jeff enough time to recuperate, as he twists Orton around and nails him with a kick to the gut and then hits the TWIST OF FATE! The crowd give an immense pop, as they know what is coming! Jeff then goes up to the top rope, and he lets out an “ARGGGGH!” Jeff then leaps from off the top rope, and while in mid-air he flips, nailing his patented SWANTON BOMB! The crowd give an even bigger pop, as Jeff nails his finisher! Jeff wastes no time, and climbs over for the cover on Orton! THIS IS SURELY IT, AND THE CROWD ALSO BELIEVES THAT THEY COULD BE WITNESSING HISTORY! 1...2...3!! JEFF HARDY IS THE NEW WWE CHAMPION TO ONE OF THE BIGGEST POPS IN YEARS!
Winner and NEW WWE Champion: Jeff Hardy!
Match Time: 11 minutes and 34 seconds
JR: Jeff Hardy has done it! Jeff Hardy’s dream has come true tonight; JEFF HARDY IS THE NEW WWE CHAMPION!
King: That was amazing JR, but what about what cost Orton the title. Was it really Kane?
JR: I would think so King. Kane is vying for revenge on Orton, and who else can make the fire come out like that?
Jeff collects his newly won belt from the referee, and gets his hand raised in victory, as the crowd congratulate Jeff to an ear splitting ovation, easily heard over Jeff’s music. Jeff then jumps into the fans that are going wild, much like Cena at Wrestlemania 21. Jeff then made his way to the back, as we see Orton in the middle of the ring, who is furious, as Kane has cost him the WWE Championship. Randy gets up to heat from the crowd, as he starts bad mouthing the fans (without a mic), and he is screaming out for Jeff to come back out. But Randy didn’t get Jeff, and the crowd give out another massive pop. “Burned” hits, as fire once again ignites from the entrance way and then the ring posts, before out from the curtain, IN HIS FULL SUIT AND MASK, KANE WALKS ONCE AGAIN!
King: JR, look! OH MY! IT’S HIM! IT’S KANE!
JR: Through hell, fire and brimstone walks Kane! This can’t be good for Orton!
King: He’s back as the monster JR! Raw better watch out, especially Randy Orton!
Kane heads down to the ring, pulling his glove on tightly, as Randy stands rooted on the spot, petrified at what he was seeing. Kane strolls down to the ring purposely, before climbing up the steps and steps over the top rope and into the ring. Randy meets Kane with a few punches, but Kane is unharmed, before wrapping his hand around the throat of Orton! Kane then lifts up Orton, and nails him with his signature Chokeslam!
JR: Chokeslam from Kane!
King: This can’t be good for Orton!
Kane isn’t done, however, as after he Chokeslams Orton, he lifts him back up and then scoops and gets him into a Pumphandle Slam position. The crowd pops as they know what is coming next, as Kane uses his brother signature move to Orton, the Tombstone Piledriver!
King: Tombstone! Orton is out!
Kane looks down at Orton through his mask as the crowd give a massive pop for the return of the old monster, masked Kane. Kane then raises his arms up, and as he has done so many times in his career, thrusts them down, as the fire comes out of the turnbuckles for the third time in the space of 15 minutes. The Great American Bash goes off of the air with this final message from the Raw commentary team.
JR: Oh my King, Kane is back, and is seeking revenge on Randy Orton. Tonight surely has been a historic night!
King: Not only that JR, but Jeff Hardy is our new WWE Champion!
JR: Join us tomorrow night on Raw, as it will be Jeff Hardy’s first ever night as the WWE Champion. On behalf of me, King and the Smackdown Commentary, we bid you goodnight, here at the Great American Bash!
wow, just wow. I bailed and ya and you came through, awesome PPV. good news is I just ordered my new desktop yesterday, so that should be in sometime next week :)
I can't give a full review because as usual, my time is limited, but given the circumstances, this was amazing, all the matches were well written, even the recapped ones. Oh and brainbuster through the ladder? That guy should be dead lol.
The Rated R CMStar
Guest
IC Fatal Four Way: Amazing match chosen as an opening. Great back and forth action with good counters, especially the innovation with Y2J blocking the 619. Great ending and it sold greatly Rey overcoming the odds.
Rated R Stars vs WGTT: Good follow up altough to be honest I didn't pay much attention to this match. I expected the titles to change here though.
Hardy promo: Good and for Hardy it was decent. He doesn't have a lot of character, lol, so he sent through was was needed
Matt Hardy vs CM Punk: Attention grabber right there. The two styles mixed nicely and you gave an interesting match. Some moves were weird on them, like the powerbomb from Hardy but nonetheless good back and forth match. Not sure about Kofi vs Matt next. I don't dig Kofi as a heel.
Ladder Match: Spot fest as you can expect. Some moves were just crazy as you could expect like the Sliced Bread from the top of the ladder and the brainbuster through the ladder. I liked the analogies you used during this and other matches to past matches. Good ending with taking advantage of Regal's style.
Fantastic Five Match: (Lol, I believe that's the name and not Fatal 5 Way): Good for a recap, altough I didn't like the way the ending was set. HHH being practically already ended for JBL to pin was the part I didn't like. Cena winning saved it for me. Uhmm, could we see HHH vs JBL?
MVP promo: Meh promo. Not too in character.
HBK vs Taker: We start with the shocker of Taker changing his persona. Not sure how I feel about it, altough I prefer obviously the Deadman. Good match that had all the feeling and movements of a big time match. The ending fits the fact that HBK is taking time off as you said in your report. I see this match continuing. I'd prefer this match to be Deadman vs HBK, but tbh, you can't really have a heel Deadman.
Kennedy vs Edge: No. Just no. Lol I am kidding. Edge mark talking here. Anyways, good for what the recap was worth.Good work. Clean ending here so no fall out. Correct if I am wrong but this means Cena vs Kennedy at Summerslam? (HHH vs Edge FTW!...if only booking would have been different)
Hardy vs Orton: Great back and forth match hyped by the promo before. The ending wasn't completely clean so Hardy vs Orton III could happen after Orton vs Kane.
AC: It was a good show. The promos weren't amazing but neither were they needed. Cool role reversal with Kane and Taker. Summerslam card already has Kane vs Orton and Kennedy vs Cena if I am not mistaken, so it's looking good. I'll be reviewing.
BM: Ladder Match. The spots in this match were crazy and i loved it. I like alos how you were able to make it not so jumbled up but still having it all over the place with tons of great action.
WM: Rated R Superstars vs WGTT. It was an alrite match but it was the worst of the night. The main reason i put it as worst of the night was that it bored me a little.
BP: Not that many so i can't say.
WP: Not that man so i can't say.
AC: Their were only two non recapped promos which is not enough so maybe next time have all your promos in full. The matches were pretty great. Thanks for your review and remember to stop by my BTB again to check for another show.
WWE Monday Night Raw
The Road to Summerslam begins here!
We open up Raw with a video package from last night’s huge Pay per View, but only on the Raw side of things. The Great American Bash theme song ‘Move to the Music’ by American Bang was playing in the background, as we first saw Rey Mysterio pinning John Morrison to retain his IC Title. It then cuts out to the amazing ladder match, with spots like the Sliced Bread #2 off of the ladder, the Brainbuster through the ladder that was resting on the barricade and ring apron and then the amazing Shooting Star Press off of the ladder being shown, before Smith is shown getting down the belts with some help from Regal. The Street Fight highlights are then displayed, with Undertaker returning as the American Badass, and then the Flying Elbow off the ladder (by Shawn), the Shawn Michaels Moonsault plancha and then the Last Ride through the table. The ambush from Taker is shown in black and white footage, with Shawn a bloody, unconscious mess. It cuts to the huge WWE Championship match, where Jeff Hardy pinned Randy Orton after a huge Twist of Fate/ Swanton Bomb combo. They show the masked Kane return, and the package ends with the Tombstone to Randy Orton.
Raw then opens up with its video package, where a photo of Jeff Hardy as the WWE Champion has been added. We then cut to the arena where there is a fabulous pyrotechnic display, as the crowd is going wild. We then cut to JR and the King at ringside, who firstly welcome us to the show. They then hype the huge Great American Bash, where they mainly focus on Jeff Hardy winning his first ever WWE Championship after defeating Randy Orton in the main event 24 hours ago. They then hype Kane's huge return with the mask, and that he will be at Raw right here tonight.
'No More Words' hits to a MASSIVE pop, as the NEW WWE Champion Jeff Hardy makes his way down to the ring, with the WWE Championship wrapped around his waist. Jeff does his signature little dance at the entrance ramp, before he slaps hands with the eager fans in the first couple of rows as he makes his way down to the ring. Once Jeff gets up to the top rope, he does his signature ‘Gunz’ taunt, before getting down off the top rope and clapping his hands to the beat of his entrance song. Jeff then gets a mic, but at first he can’t speak as a ‘Hardy’ chant breaks out from the crowd. Hardy manages to quiet the crowd down, as he goes onto thank the fans, as he goes onto talk about his win last night, and even goes as far to thank Kane. Jeff does the classic "good guy" talk after they win a major title, as he thanks the fans, and says he couldn't have done it without them. Before Jeff can say anymore, he is interrupted by...
‘Rule Britannia’ which hits to big heat, as the World Tag Team Champions the UKonnection make their way down to the ring, led by William Regal. Regal gets a mic and he also is unable to talk, as the crowd have started up a ‘You Suck’ chant. Regal tells the fans to shut up and show some respect, only to make the crowd get louder. Regal says with Hardy that he was not the only one who walked out with a victory last night, but the UKonnection also were victorious in their huge ladder match against Londrick. Regal says that all of the men in the UKonnection will become World Champions sooner rather than later, as William goes on to demand Hardy for a match tonight, for the WWE Championship! The crowd lets out a thunderous pop, as Jeff looks at his WWE Championship, and then looks out to the crowd. Jeff then says that there have been many doubters in the past 24 hours, who that his victory last night was nothing more than a fluke, but he will prove it tonight, when he defeats Regal in the main event. THE MATCH IS ON! ’No More Words’ blasts out once again, as Hardy and Regal go face to face with the whole UKonnection by Regal’s side.
*Commercial*
We return from the break with a ‘Moments Ago’ package, where the announcement of the main event was made with Jeff Hardy defending his newly won WWE Title against UKonnection leader William Regal, just 24 hours after Hardy won the then vacant title against Randy Orton. The announcers put over that we may crown two different WWE champions in as many nights, and that this may be the beginning of William Regal’s first ever reign as the WWE Champion. The King points out that it may be a repeat of last night’s ladder match with constant interference from the other UKonnection members, and because of Regal’s experience, Jeff will be going in as a serious underdog for the main event.
’Chavo Ardiente’
then hits to a pretty big amount of heat, as Chavo Guerrero makes his way down to the ring, ready for the first match of the night. Chavo bad mouths the fans as he makes his way down to the ring, as the announcers highlight Guerrero’s recent troubles with the former ‘Extremist’ and ECW Original Tommy Dreamer, which started when Guerrero eliminated Dreamer in the Intercontinental Title Battle Royal, causing Dreamer to retaliate and help eliminate Chavo. The announcers don’t bother to speak about Bam Neely, who has seemingly left the WWE, but they do talk about Dreamer costing Chavo the match against Cody Rhodes a couple of weeks ago, and also highlighting their backstage brawls.
‘Ain’t No Make Believe’ then hits to a very nice pop, as one quarter of last night’s great Intercontinental Title Fatal Four Way Match John Morrison makes his way down to the ring ready for his one on one contest, but not before doing his fabulous slow motion entrance at the top of the entrance ramp. The announcer team highlight that Morrison had a very impressive showing last night, but he was he one pinned by Mysterio last night, meaning that he probably won’t get an Intercontinental Title Match any time soon. Morrison gets in the ring and is ready for action, as the opening contest begins.
Match 1
John Morrison vs. Chavo Guerrero
This match was quite a good match, as the two former ECW Superstars put on a high flying contest. Chavo managed to nail a Tornado DDT from off of the top rope, but the former third of MNM responded a couple of minutes later with a Standing Shooting Star Press while Guerrero was incapacitated on the mat after a Springboard Dropkick. Morrison took charge after this, but a Super Hurricanrana attempt went astray, as Chavo reversed into a huge top rope Sit out Powerbomb! Chavo then dominated Morrison, and after a Gory Bomb, he headed up to the top rope, perhaps looking for a Frog Splash, but once again, right before Chavo would go for a Frog Splash, ’Extreme’ hit to a big pop, as Tommy Dreamer made his way out on the ramp. Chavo hopped down from the apron and approached the ropes, as the two fierce foes bad mouthed each other. While this was happening, Morrison had managed to get up, before he turned Chavo around, and then nailed a Moonlight Drive! 1...2...3!
Winner: John Morrison
Dreamer is pleased with his efforts as he has cost Chavo a singles match once again, as Morrison gets his arms raised in victory from the referee, a wide smirk on his face and along with cheers from the crowd. As Morrison heads up the ramp, he meets Dreamer, as the two former foes share a brief nod with each other (the two were in the Morrison and Miz vs. Delaney and Dreamer feud). Once Morrison heads through the curtain and to the back, Dreamer looks down at Chavo, before doing his signature arm pose to a pretty big pop from the crowd.
The camera then cuts to the backstage area, where we see MVP on the screen, stretching his leg up on a bench. Once the Superstar that is “Half Man and Half Amazing†comes on the screen, he is met with a massive amount of heat from the crowd, due to his attack last week on poor little Hornswoggle. With MVP on the screen, JR announces in a sombre tone that because of head injuries as a result of the vicious Playa’s Boot from last week, Hornswoggle will never be seen on a WWE screen again. King says that MVP better be watching his back for Finlay, as JR tells that MVP has a match, right after the break!
*Commercial*
We return from the commercial break with the former World Tag Team Champion Cody Rhodes in the ring with his music ‘Is Anybody Home’ playing in the background, to a small pop from the crowd. Rhodes is pacing up and down in the ring, ready for action, as Lillian Garcia introduces him to the fans. He gets little to no reaction once again, as he waits for his previously announced opponent MVP to come out from the backstage area.
‘I’m Comin’ then hits to huge heat, a little more than the reaction from before the commercial break, as MVP comes out from his inflatable tunnel, as the crowd pour in the heat for the man that put Hornswoggle out of the WWE. When Lillian introduces Porter, he gets more heat, as when he slides into the ring; he places his ‘305’ necklace on the top of the ring post. JR and the King talk about Porter’s interview last night with Todd Grisham.
Match 2
Cody Rhodes vs. Montel Vontavious Porter
The match was the obvious squash match to get MVP over as a bigger heel after he destroyed poor little Hornswoggle last week on Raw. Porter nailed Rhodes with all of his signature moves, such as an overhead Belly to Belly Suplex, a German Suplex and everyone’s favourite, the Ballin’ Elbow Drop. MVP lifted up a knocked out Rhodes before whipping him in the corner, before Montel charged at Cody and nailed him with a huge Playa’s Boot, the very move that put Hornswoggle out of action! The eyes roll to the back of Cody’s head, as the crowd give out huge heat towards MVP. Montel then lifts up the dead weight of Cody Rhodes, before delivering a huge Playmaker for the win at the four minute mark.
Winner: Montel Vontavious Porter
MVP gets up and smirks down at an unconscious Rhodes to heat from the crowd, before he goes back to the corner and goes to pick up his ‘305’ necklace. MVP then has an idea, however, as he gets his chain and wraps it around his fist and then lifts poor Rhodes up, before with shades of the Undertaker last night, MVP nails Rhodes square in the head with his chain wrapped fist! Blood pours from the skull of Rhodes, as the crowd pour in more heat for MVP’s assault on Rhodes.
‘Lambeg’ then hits to a huge pop, as Hornswoggle’s father Finlay makes his way down to the ring, with his shillelagh in hand, although it doesn’t look like Finlay is going to apologize like MVP demanded him to do last night. Finlay came out almost in reply to the fans plea for help, as MVP surprisingly doesn’t scarper through the crowd, but he instead waits in the ring, waiting to meet Finlay in the ring. Finlay looks to be a man on a mission, as his eyes are focussed on MVP in the ring, as the crowd cheers the “Belfast Brawler†on, wanting to see Finlay’s revenge on Porter after what MVP did last week to Finlay’s ‘son’ after Hornswoggle left the WWE to recover from the injuries sustained.
Finlay reaches the ring and slides in through the bottom rope, as MVP meets him with a right hand, before connecting with a couple of kicks and punches, as Finlay rests up against the ropes. MVP charges at Finlay, looking for a Playa’s Boot, but Finlay charges at Porter and does a double leg takedown, before drilling MVP with some right hands. Finlay then gets his shillelagh, and when MVP gets up, Finlay drills MVP in the head with the shillelagh! The crowd let out a big pop, as Finlay stands over a hurt MVP as we go to a commercial break.
*Commercial*
We return from the third commercial break of the night with another ‘Moments Ago’ video package, where we are first shown MVP’s assault on Rhodes and then Finlay’s save and then assault on fierce rival Montel Vontavious Porter. An image then comes on the screen hyping next week, as JR announces that next week, as just signed by Raw General Manager Shane McMahon, Finlay and MVP will go at it for the second time in three weeks, but this time, it will be in a NO HOLDS BARRED MATCH!
The announcers then have a complete mood swing, as they begin to talk about what happened twenty four hours ago, when Shawn Michaels was ambushed after his match with the Undertaker. We are then treated to a black and white image package, with the assault with the chain wrapped fist from Taker, the first Last Ride through the table, and then the assault post match with the 30 feet Last Ride off of the stage being shown. JR and the King then lead us onto another video package.
This video package shows Shawn Michaels’ trip to the hospital in New York right after the assault from Undertaker, as Shawn is still on a stretcher, as we have a voice over from one of the medical staff, saying that Shawn may have suffered a broken neck, and after his huge back injury in the past, that he may have broken a couple of bones. The doctor says that HBK may have indeed suffered a career threatening injury, but this quick into the injury, nothing is certain. We cut to JR and the King, who say that HBK is in their prayers, and they wish him a speedy recovery.
*Commercial*
We come back from a rather long commercial break, where we have Shane McMahon in the ring, receiving quite a good ovation from the crowd. McMahon then mentions last night’s huge PPV, and says that the next Pay Per View coming up is the second biggest PPV in the WWE, which is Summerslam. He says that he just got off of the phone with the Smackdown General Manager Theodore Long, and he announces that they have signed a second match for Summerslam. Shane goes on to say that there will be a inter- promotional Triple Threat match, and it will be for the WWE Women’s Championship, and says that right now, there will be a Triple Threat Qualifying match!
‘Rule Britannia’ then hits for the second time in the night to big heat, as the sister of Paul Burchill Katie Lea Burchill makes her way to down to the ring, hoping to get one step closer to winning her first ever WWE Women’s Championship, and her first ever piece of gold in the WWE. The announcers highlight that by Summerslam, the UKonnection could have the WWE, World Tag Team and Women’s Championships.
‘Not Enough for Me’ then rings out to a pretty big reception from the crowd, as the former high school teacher Michelle McCool makes her way down to the ring, ready to compete to have the right to face Mickie James in the Triple Threat match at Summerslam. The announcers don’t even acknowledge that before the draft, Michelle was one of the contenders for the Diva’s Championship.
‘Rule Britannia’ then hits once again to big heat, as the camera instantly cuts to a shocked Katie Lea Burchill, as Natalya Neidhart heads down to the ring, also shocked that she will have to go against her UKonnection counterpart and best friend in Katie Lea. The announcers point out that the UKonnection now have a 67 percent chance of heading to Summerslam to be a part of the Triple Threat Match.
Match #3
Winner heads to Women’s Title Triple Threat Match
Katie Lea Burchill vs. Michelle McCool vs. Natalya Neidhart
The beginning of the match was quite obvious, as the two best friends and UKonnection members Katie Lea and Natalya double teamed Michelle, each taking turns to pulverise the former teacher. The two nailed Michelle with a double suplex, but they couldn’t decide who would make the cover, giving McCool enough time to recover, as she eventually nailed them with a double clothesline. Michelle then threw Natalya out of the ring so she could work on Burchill, where she nailed her with a Bulldog, sending Katie’s face crashing into the mat. Michelle then locked in her devastating Brazilian Heel Hook, right in the centre of the ring! Just when it looked like Katie would tap, a recovered Neidhart ran in the ring, and got Michelle off. Michelle fought back by nailing some punches to the gut, but then she was met a boot to the gut from Natalya, quickly followed by a Running Powerslam for the win!
Winner and going to Summerslam: Natalya Neidhart!
Natalya gets her hand raised in victory to heat from the crowd, as she is now on step closer to winning the Women’s Title at Summerslam. Katie Lea begins to get up, as Natalya sees her best friend recovering. When Katie gets up, she sees Natalya and the two shrug at each other, with Burchill upset that she lost but also happy for Natalya. The crowd give heat as they were hoping that something would happen, but the two simply walk out with each other, bad mouthing the fans on the way out.
*Commercial*
We return from the break, with JR and the King saying that not only do we have a WWE Championship match coming up, but right now, we will have ourselves an inter promotional Cruiserweight Championship match, with the Cruiserweight Champion Kofi Kingstondefending his title against a man that came so close to winning a championship last night, and one half of the tag team Londrick, Paul London.
‘Rocker’ then hits to a pretty big pop, as Paul London makes his way down to the ring for his second title match in two nights, as he is accompanied by a jealous looking Brian Kendrick. London is oblivious to the fact that his partner is jealous of him getting a title shot, as he does his standard running entrance, as he waits for the champion to emerge from the tunnel. JR and the King are talking about last night’s ladder match as Londrick make their entrance.
‘SOS’ then blast out through the speakers to big heat, as the man that ambushed Matt Hardy and the current Cruiserweight Champion of the World Kofi Kingston makes his way to the ring with his completely different demeanour, eyes transfixed on the ring and ready for action. We are shown video footage of what happened after Smackdown US Title match, where Kofi assaulted Matt after Hardy got the victory over Punk.
Match 4
Cruiserweight Title Match
Paul London w/ Kendrick vs. Kofi Kingston (c)
This was the second match of the night with high flying action all the way throughout, as London and Kofi put on a great show for the fans. London hit Kingston with his patented Mushroom Stomp from off of the top rope, but that was only enough for a two count, although London did return the favour later on in the match, when Kofi had hit his huge double leg drop (now without theatrics due to his seriousness), London managed to get a hold of the bottom rope, denying Kofi the victory. Kofi then waited for London to get up, looking for his 450 Kick, before through the speakers, ‘Live for the Moment’ hit to a huge pop, but Matt Hardy was nowhere in sight. Kofi instantly walked over to the ropes and waited for Matt to come out, but Paul had recovered and nailed Kingston with a Dragon Suplex! London then quickly capitalized, hitting a Standing Shooting Star Press! 1...2...3! WE HAVE A NEW CHAMPION!
Winner and NEW Cruiserweight Champion: Paul London!
The new champion rejoices as Kendrick looks on from the outside, unsure what to think, as it looks like somebody is jealous! Kendrick gets in the ring and half heartedly celebrates, as Kofi is obviously pissed off that he has lost his Cruiserweight Title, and it was all because of a distraction from Matt Hardy, returning the favour from last night. London gets his arms raised by Kendrick (who looks angry) and the referee, as we fade to another commercial break.
*Commercial*
We return from the break with a ‘Before the Break’ video package, where we seeing the ending of the Cruiserweight Title Match, where Kofi was about to hit the 450 Kick, before Matt Hardy’s music hit, distracting Kofi and allowing London to capitalize and hit a Dragon Suplex followed by a Standing Shooting Star Press for the win and the title. The announcers highlight how we saw a jealous look on the face of Kendrick.
‘I HEAR VOICES IN MY HEAD, THEY COME TO ME. THEY UNDERSTAND, THEY TALK TO ME!’
‘Voices’ continues to play to so far the biggest heat of the night, as none other than the man that lost last night in the main event Randy Orton makes his way down to the ring, obviously pissed off about last night with Kane’s return. The announcers talk about how Orton was on the way to victory last night but a Kane distraction cost him the title, and then they talk about the ambush after the main event.
Randy receives a mic from Lillian, and tells everyone to shut up because he is something to say only making the crowd get even louder. Randy talks about last night and how he was cost the WWE Championship because of the Big Red Fat Oaf Kane, as the mention of the Big Red Machine gets a big pop from the crowd. Randy says that Kane should have recovered for a bit longer to heal up the injuries that he sustained from Randy, because once Orton gets his hands on him, Kane will be sent straight back to the shelf.
Randy then talks about Jeff Hardy, and that he should watch his back, because when Randy is finished with Kane, he is going to go straight back to Jeff and get back his WWE Championship. Randy then tells us that he went to Shane McMahon just five minutes ago, and to get back at Kane, Shane O Mac has signed another match, Randy Orton vs. Kane at Summerslam! The crowd give a huge pop at the announcement, as the third SSlam match has been signed, and the first Raw exclusive.
‘Burned’ begins to play to the second biggest pop of the night (just behind Jeff Hardy at the top of the show), as the monster Kane makes his way down to the ring, making his Raw return after a three week absence after Randy Orton’s punt kick to the head. The announcers talk about how Randy was responsible for Kane’s unmasking after he gave Kane an RKO in his match with Triple H. Randy, surprisingly, waits in the ring for Kane, like MVP with Finlay earlier.
Kane climbs up the stairs and steps over the top rope to get into the ring, much like last night. Kane charges at Orton, going for a big boot, but Randy ducks under and connects with some punches to the back of Kane, and after Kane turns around, he connects with some punches to the face, although Kane seems to be unharmed by all of this. Randy then bounces off the ropes attempting a clothesline, but Kane meets him with a huge uppercut right to the jaw.
Randy staggers back into the ropes, and when he returns, he is met with a hand wrapped around the throat by Kane! Randy, not wanting to be Chokeslammed again, quickly hits Kane with a boot to the gut, before getting him in a cutter position, looking for the RKO. Before Orton could hit his signature move, however, he is pushed into the turnbuckles by Kane! Randy staggers out of the corner, as Kane turns him around, gets him on his shoulders, and nails Randy with a huge Tombstone Piledriver!
The crowd let out a huge pop for Kane’s other finisher, as Kane raises his arms, as the crowd knows what is coming next, and they join along with him. Kane then thrusts his arms down, as fire ignites out of the ring posts. We are shown a replay of the exciting sequence at the end, as JR and the King hype Orton and Kane’s match for SS. Kane heads over the top rope and makes his way up the ramp as we go to a commercial break.
*Commercial*
We return from the break with an ‘Earlier Tonight’ package, where we are shown Jeff Hardy’s Victory Promo, only to be interrupted by William Regal, who requests a WWE Championship match for the main event. Hardy says that many people have doubted him in the past 24 hours, and that the championship match was on for the main event. JR and the King ask if Jeff can retain his title, and that question will be answered right now, as it is main event time!
‘Rule Britannia’ then hits to very big heat, as accompanied by DH Smith and Paul Burchill (who are wearing the tag team titles), William Regal makes his way to the ring, hoping to become the WWE Champion for the first ever time, much like Jeff Hardy before last night. Regal heads to the ring, as his music goes silent, and the crowd rise up in anticipation, waiting for the WWE Champion’s entrance.
‘No More Words’ blasts out for the third time in the night to a huge ovation from the crowd, as the WWE Champion Jeff Hardy makes his way out to the entrance ramp doing his little dance, before he makes his way down to the ring, ready for his first title defence. The announcers once again say that Jeff is the underdog in this match due to Regal’s experience, and the fact that Regal has Smith and Burchill by his side.
Match 5
Main Event
WWE Championship
William Regal w/ Smith and Burchill vs. Jeff Hardy (c)
This match was a contrast of fighting styles, Hardy as a high flyer and Regal as a stiff brawler. The match went for about 12 minutes, with the crowd really involved. Regal worked on Hardy’s leg for the majority of the match, but Hardy fought back with a Mule Kick to Regal, getting back in the contest. Regal ducked a flying forearm attempt from Hardy, as he then whipped Hardy towards the turnbuckles, but Hardy jumped up to the second rope and then to the top rope, before coming down with a Whisper in the Wind, only for it to be dodged by Regal and Hardy landed square on his ass. Regal then lifted the champ up, before getting him in a half nelson, before nailing a Release Half Nelson Suplex, with Hardy landing flat on his chest, as Regal quickly crawled over for the cover, as we may have a new champ! 1...2...NO! Hardy manages to roll the shoulder up, breaking up the fall. Regal is frustrated, as he goes to argue with the referee, as Hardy slowly recovers. Regal makes a signal to Smith on the outside, and with the referee distracted, Smith waits for Jeff to get up before hanging him up on the top rope! Regal stops arguing as he attempts for a knee to the head of Hardy, but Jeff moves and Regal’s unexposed knee smashes the turnbuckle! Regal screams in pain, as Hardy drags him out, before hitting a TWIST OF FATE! 1...2...3! Hardy is successful!
Winner and STILL WWE Champion: Jeff Hardy!
Smith and Burchill are furious on the outside, and they go to get in the ring, but Hardy charges at them with his title and they scarper, but not before getting Regal out of the ring and helping him to the back. Hardy goes up to the top rope and celebrates with his title, as JR says that Jeff Hardy has defied the odds here tonight. Hardy continues to celebrate, going up to every top rope and raising his title to a pop from the fans. The victory celebration is cut short, however.
THE LIGHTS GO OUT! The fans erupt in heat, and they get even louder as when the lights come back on, the man that destroyed Shawn Michaels, the Undertaker is in the ring right behind Jeff! Hardy has no idea and is looking at the entrance ramp, before turning around to see if Taker is behind him, and he is met with a huge Big Boot, directly to the face! The crowd erupt in heat, as the Undertaker looks down at the man that defeated him last week.
Undertaker then lifts Jeff up, before putting him in between his legs and raising his right arm, as the crowd pour in the heat. Undertaker then hoists Jeff up so that his legs are resting on his shoulders. LAST RIDE! The Undertaker has sent a direct message to the WWE Champion with the move that he put Shawn Michaels away with, as the show ends with the biker Taker making the belt signal, as the signal fades to black, with the WWE logo comes across the screen.
Sorry for the double post but I think that this should be separated from my show. I have good news, and that is that Riggs' desktop has come in and he is half way through Smackdown, meaning that this thread will be back full time. Riggs' also managed to make a Summerslam poster, the Summerslam poster is featured below. If you read the Bash and read Raw, this obviously won't come as a spoiler to you.
Raw Review
BM:Main Event: Tons of really great action and I really liked the ending of this match.
WM:MVP vs Cody Rhode: Basic Squash match i S'Pose. Nothing to great but it made a nice match in the form of a No Hold's Barred.
BP:Opening: I liked this promo even though it was in recap, you can't really say anything about Characteristics in this because it is recapped but you know alright promo that built for tonight.
WP:Can't really tell.
AC:Pretty good show. Bit short but i suppose it has to be for Recaps. Check out my new how when you can.
Good work with the opening. I guess you are going with the underdog champion storyline. Anyways, good booking as it all made sense and it gace Haredy its first defense as champion.
Hornswoggle permanently out, for a kick? It seems rather bland considering he survived being tossed around in a Cage. Nonetheless, it hypes Finlay vs MVP even more, if I am not mistaken this match will happen at Summerslam right? Good angle at the end with Finlay attacking MVP getting revenge.
Orton and Kane had a nice angle, with more heat than the main event for example. We continue having Kane on the upperhand so I'll wait for next week and see of Orton finally gets one up over Kane.
Kofi losing the belt was predictable as you want him going for the US Championship. He lost the match too clean if you ask me though.
The main event was a good match, in classic heel dominates, Hardy mounts comeback and wins. Taker attacking after the match means we'll get Hardy vs Taker at Summerslam. However, I don't see Taker winning the belt. Let the countdown for HBK begin!
Sorry I haven't been in touch with this thread guys, but I have terrible news regarding my partner Riggs. Unfortunately Riggs lost a family member due to Hurricane Ike in Texas, so Riggs will be unable to continue with this thread, and perhaps all of BTB in general. Regarding this thread, I will just write the Raw side of things, and in the News and Notes, I will incorporate the Smackdown results. If Riggs does come back to BTB, he said he will come back and write Smackdown for this thread, but with school starting, losing a family member and getting a job, it is just too much for him. I would like to greatly thank Riggs for his help in this thread and I hope that he can recover from all of his personal setbacks.
(I have started Raw and finished the first match FYI.)
EDIT
Here is the first Smackdown after the GAB.
WWE Smackdown!
First Hour
Opening Match: Shelton Benjamin defeated Curt Hawkins with their respective partners in their corners in 9.54 after delivering the Paydirt to Hawkins. Ryder tried to ambush Benjamin, but Haas made the save, nailing Ryder with his Tag Team Title belt. The WGGT are then handed the titles and then they posed to the happy crowd.
Backstage Segment: The World’s Greatest Tag Team is backstage, celebrating Shelton’s victory, when they run into none other than CM Punk. Punk smirks at the WGGT’s reaction, before saying that they better have a firm grip of those titles, as he is coming for them. Many are confused, seeing as Punk is just a sole figure, including the Tag Team Champions.
Interview Segment: John Cena has an interview backstage, where he talks about last night and how now he is facing Mr. Kennedy at Summerslam for the WHC. Teddy Long then appears, saying that might not be the case. Long goes on to say he has signed a huge main event tonight, a Wrestlemania worthy main event, with Edge Versing Mr. Kennedy for the World Title tonight! The crowd go wild, but Teddy says to ensure no interference, Cena has been assigned the Special Referee.
Diva’s Triple Threat Match: This was to find out the Smackdown competitor for the Women’s Title Match at Summerslam. It consisted of Candice Michelle, Victoria and Maria. In the end, it was a shock upset, as after a Widow’s Peak from Victoria to the former champion Candice Michelle, Maria came out of nowhere and threw Victoria out of the ring, before hitting Candice with a top rope Moonsault for the win at 6.30!
In Ring Promo: Batista is expressing his disappointment about the Great American Bash, as to how he didn’t win the Fatal 5 Way match to become the Number 1 Contender. Batista is talking about how he deserved a title shot after never getting a fair shot after losing at Armageddon last year, but is interrupted by JBL. The two begin to bicker, but just before Batista can get JBL, Big Show comes through the crowd and nails Tista with a Big Boot, leading to a two on one assault.
Injury Update: We go to the Super Crazy injury video package after what Snitsky did to him two weeks ago on Smackdown after decimating him with the steel steps. They say that Super Crazy suffered broken ribs, and will be out from between a further 6-8 weeks. They wish Crazy the best of luck in his long road to recovery.
Second Hour
In Teddy Long’s Office: Batista is with his good friends Teddy Long, and Tista is absolutely pissed after the ambush he received from JBL and Big Show. Tista threatens Teddy to give him JBL and Big Show, but Teddy says that fearing for his safety, he can’t do that, as he is scared that another 2 on 1 ambush may happen. Batista is pissed, but before he throws a tantrum, Teddy tells him that he can find a partner by next week and announce who it is, the match will be set for Summerslam.
Non Title Match: Matt Hardy defeated former friend Gregory Helms in 14.27 after a Twist of Fate after reversing the Nightmare on Helms Street. The United States Champion looked great in his match, hitting all of his aerial attacks and dominating Helms most of the match. After the match, Kofi Kingston came out through the crowd, and once again behind Matt’s back, attacked him! Kofi then hit Hardy with his new finisher, the Michinoku Driver, which he calls the Jamaican Driver.
Hype Package: Kenny Dykstra is at an unknown place, as the former Spirit Squad member says that he isn’t Kenny Dykstra anymore, but rather the ‘Future’ Ken Doane. Doane says that he is simply sensational, a natural born talent, and he will prove that in his match next.
Ken Doane’s ‘debut’ match: Ken Doane defeated Hardcore Holly in 4.52 after a Doane- Nation (Diving Clothesline) and then a Sky High Sensation (Diving Leg Drop). Doane dominated the whole match, nailing such moves as the Whiplash Neckbreaker, a cutter which he calls the RK- Doane and a Delayed Sitout Front Suplex Slam.
Backstage segment: Lance Cade is in his locker room, when his partner Trevor Murdoch approaches him, and he is angry after what happened last week with Cade and Festus. Murdoch questions Lance, who simply says that he needed to get rid of that freak, and that it sent a statement to the entire tag team division. Murdoch says that he better watch out, as they have a match with Jesse & Festus next week. Murdoch goes off singing, as an angry Cade watches on.
Main Event Match: Kennedy defended against Edge with Special Referee John Cena, and much to the disappointment of the fans, after a fantastic pay-per view quality match, there was a disputed finish. Edge had his lackeys come down to the ring, but Cena did his job, cleaning house. After Cena took care of the Rated R Superstars, he got into the ring, but was met with a massive Spear from Edge! Edge then waited for Kennedy and did exactly the same to him, and then much to the dismay of the crowd, Mickey Henson came down to the ring and counted the three! Edge was handed the title, but when he was almost announced the winner, Teddy Long came out, saying that Edge was not the victor, and therefore not the champion!
Main Event Aftermath: Teddy said that although the referee counted to three, he wasn’t the officiating referee, Cena was. Long then said that Edge put his hands on an official, which would lead to a disqualification, so therefore, still the World Heavyweight Champion, Mr. Kennedy! The crowd goes wild and Edge is pissed, as Long goes onto make another blockbuster announcement, saying that he has changed the Summerslam main event for Smackdown, as whether the fans like it or not, Edge should have been the winner, so now, at Summerslam, it will be Mr. Kennedy defending his World Title against both John Cena and Edge in a Triple Threat match!
Sorry for the short hiatus once again guys, but regarding this thread, I have decided to go the WCW Rules route and recap up until the PPV and then write the quick results of it. This is because the workload for me is too much, with school starting tomorrow, exams this term and someone in my family being really sick. I will continue doing this until the Royal Rumble, so I can have a proper Road to Wrestlemania, which I hope that I can reach. I credit Riggs to most of the Smackdown storylines, and the main event was his idea for the previous Smackdown. I comtemplated leaving this thread but I have already acheived something which is writing up a PPV and posting it, which is pretty sad since I have had about 5 threads :p. Look for the lead up to Summerslam to be up soon.
