I think they could have and don't know why they didn't other than to destroy them for beating them for so long. I think a WCW show even now would garner attention and think that they could lobby to get some airtime elsewhere on another station which would allow them to bring in some new fans and use some of their better talent on it. I think they could then use the extra titles there and go to one set of titles on Raw and Smackdown. They have the roster size for it and some of the people from WCW to get it off the ground, like Dusty and Flair. I still think they should.

Rumor has it that Spike TV didn't want to pick up Nitro and Vince had no interest in shopping it. So he planned to turn SmackDown! into a WCW brand after the invasion but WWE flubbed that up so bad WWE went with the Brand Extension instead.

I have been saying for years that the reason the Brand extension failed so miserably was because they didn't treat it like another business except for in the storylines for the first couple of years. They could have made it huge with the WCW name, but that angle sucked balls and the Vince didn't keep that many original WCW guys in the first place. I still wanted Buff Daddy to stick around longer.
