Yep. And he knew since he no longer had any competition, that he can wait on those guys until their contracts ended. They had nowhere else to go.

DDP and Booker and I believe Buff exercised their right to collect the AOL money and signed to WWE for deals Vince was comfortable with, like 30% of what they'd have gotten for sitting at home. McMahon though could have bought the actual AOL contracts and taken up their burden to pay the talent the money that was left on those contracts. Vince didn't want to do that, Bruce even just said that in this doc. He said they didn't think it was reasonable to pay that kind of money. Which is a dumb point when Vince bought WCW for like 2 million dollars.

The OG split was great until the PG Era and not because of the rating, but that's when they stopped making the brands seem different. For 6 years though, Raw and SD actually felt like separate shows.
