Scott has gone on the record and said he didn't fall off the wagon until that weekend when the finish for him to go over Austin was changed at the last minute and they decided to turn Hogan.

If he's talking about Rock, that wasn't unthinkable. Rock was gone most of 2001 to film a movie. Vince knew Rocky was gonna go Hollywood.

And that's an excuse

Austin leaving though was the hugest blow to WWE in 2002.

It is and he owns it, but if WWE stuck with the nWo plan they promised the nWo when he came in, who knows what they could have done with it.

It's still hard to believe that Rock left so early. He was only fucking 32

So because WWE tells you they're not putting you over someone you're allowed to turn into an alcoholic.

Rock was honestly a bigger star in 2002 TBH. (Thread reply)
You're missing the point. Rock leaving was set in stone back in 2001. They knew to prepare for that. They ha no idea they were losing Austin.

He already was one and them dousing him in beer didn’t help at all. They really didn’t do much to help him out. And the littlest thing can cause a relapse dude addiction is a crazy thing. Please don’t be so ignorant about shit.

He was already an alcoholic. You're just not getting it. He didn't want to go to WWE in the first place, but promises were made and when he gets to WWE and sees that WWE plans to bury the nWo, he got disillusioned with it and he let his demons win. The point is, WWE decided that weekend they weren't gonna run with the nWo like they should have and that was dumb.
