Amazon have put up for a listing for a new WWE DVD release on The Rock over here.

The page reveals the scheduled release date of February 21st, 2012 to the USA.

Given Dwayne Johnson’s return to WWE this year and ongoing working relationship with the company for TV and other projects, this seems very feasible. No surprise either that the release would be timely, on the road to Rock/Cena at WrestleMania 28.

If the DVD (mostly likely Blu-ray too) turns out to be legit, and it’s looking that way, we should have official details on it in the coming days. Stay tuned.

Smart move by WWE. They can cash in on The Rock returning to wrestle at WM28 and can easily make this a top seller. If they get him to sit down and do a three hour interview to put on one disc then I would certainly consider getting the DVD.

WWE has begun production on a CM Punk DVD release for 2012. The DVD will feature a documentary about Punk's life and career as well as a collection of matches from his run with the company.

The Chicago Tribune
featured a blurb on the DVD being filmed over the weekend.

More Punk merchandise. Yay

Now, I am pretty pumped for a Punk DVD. That should be an awesome release if they don't scrap it.

Excellent decision by WWE. Hopefully they include plenty of his work from WWE ECW because his promos and matches there were fantastic. So many great moments that they can put into this DVD, easily fill three discs.

I still think that they can produce a great DVD without the ROH footage. They can bring it up in the documentary part and Punk can talk about how he worked his way to the top in the indies before joining WWE.

Since last week you’ve been hearing of WWE’s plans to release a new DVD on The Rock for 2012. We can now say for definite it’s on the way and exclusively reveal some first details.

We can confirm the new release will be a 3-Disc DVD collection, and for the first time WWE will produce a feature length Blu-ray of The Rock, which will be a 2-Disc set.

WWE have not yet made a final decision on a name for the production, so as of now it’s listed on the schedule as simply “The Rock”. That will change later.

Unlike with his previous WWE Home Video release, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will this time be involved in terms of filming new footage to be included on the set.

We can also confirm the previously revealed release date of February 21st, 2012 – on the road to The Rock vs. John Cena at WrestleMania 28.

WWE are pulling out some huge DVDs this year and next. HBK vs. Hart, Stone Cold, Rock, Punk etc. Hopefully after this they work on a Rock vs. Austin rivalry set.

I got the Austin DVD (blu ray) of course Saturday. Watched the bio and that thing is good. It is real good. Better than his other ones for sure. Definite must get for any Stone Cold fan or even partial Stone Cold fan.

WWE shipped 265,000 DVD units in October 2011, up 6% from October 2010. The top shipped WWE DVD’s for the year so far are WrestleMania 27 with 232,000 units shipped, Best of WCW Nitro with 138,000 shipped, History of WrestleMania with 120,000 shipped, DX One Last Stand with 109,000 shipped and Randy Orton’s DVD with 102,000 shipped.

Great numbers for the WM27 DVD. I expect the HBK vs. Hart Rivalry DVD and the SCSA DVD to sell big as well and to even challenge for second spot in that list. Can't believe that the DX one sold so well when they didn't have many interesting matches or feuds in their final run.

I like that it is a best of the actual PPV and so it includes some other matches which weren't connected to the KOTR tournament. There were some top matches at that PPV and back in the early 00's they were some great PPVs to watch.

I like seeing Morrison/Sheamus on here along with Punk/Regal since they didn't happen on the actual PPV. Also, that Morrison/Sheamus match was pretty sweet. It led to that even better Ladder match last year, too. Too bad Morrison can't make more people look good in WWE now. Oh well.

Those were the two worst winners ever unless you count William Regal's reign as a farce.
