In what has to be the best thing going for the WWE, Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter have opened a can of words in the mainstream media's eyes as a ridiculer of the tea party and republicans in general. With all this attention, the WWE didn't do what they usually do (ignore) and instead sent Jack and Zeb out to add clarity to the situation. This is what they came up with.

Watching this video, I couldn't help but feel like the nail is finally in the coffin for kayfabe... but I see why they would want to address this. It's apparent that the McMahons are republicans and viewed as bitter for the two campaign losses in a row... so a response was necessary.

This being said, I have to put this out there. This is my opinion of course, but this angle is the one I am looking forward to most in this time going forward. This is gold the WWE is sitting on and no arrest for a petty marijuana fine is going to change the course they're running on.

Gives me hope that WWE wont turn Swagger into a jobber simply because of all the attention this gimmick already has. And its not just the news reports either, a video like this can help try and establish that WWE is a form of entertainment just like TV shows and movies, build from this and establish that idea/fact in peoples heads.

I was shocked that Glen Beck turned down 5 minutes of air time on RAW this week to address Swagger and Zeb. Not like him to turn down an opportunity to waffle. I am glad that he won't be appearing as I don't want to see that moron on any tv show that I watch. Good response from WWE and as I said in the news thread about Fox complaining about this gimmick, all they are doing is giving WWE free publicity. WWE would be loving this attention.

Yeah.....dont like that at all.

No need to tell everyone wrestling is fake, thought that was assumed by now.

I think this is great. It's finally telling the mainstream idiots like Beck to stop being a dumbass. It doesn't kill kayfabe until they start doing it on the shows. Kayfabe will never die until you can convince me that randy orton and john cena act the same way outside the ring as they do inside, until Glenn Jacobs goes to the supermarket as Kane.

I don't like it.

Its good to see WWE sticking up for themselves, but its a shame that they had to make it so blatantly clear that they're just playing characters on a television show.

I really hope WWE don't mention this on TV. Not only would they be saying that Swagger and Zeb are playing characters, but that everyone else is as well. Although everyone knows wrestling is fake, they don't need to make it publicly clear that it is just to silence some critics. It's not worth it.

Just as an example, "everyone" knows comics are fake, yet Dan Slott recieved numerous death threats because he was killing off Peter Parker. "everyone" knows movies are fake, yet I recall a theatre shooting where the guy thought he was Joker. Some people cannot distinguish fantasies from reality.

The fact that WWE took the time to clarify this only proves how disillusioned they believe Glenn Beck to be.

Nobody needs reminding of it though, suspension of disbelief and all.

You don't want guys to stop midway through a match, get on the mic and say "that didn't really hurt him", same rule applies with promos and such.

Telling everyone he's not a racist makes it harder to buy into his act, we all know its a rouse but making it clear kills the character.

Does WWE really care about some idiot news producer to this extent? What a clusterfuck with this gimmick, it has potential but now it's just odd. I still stand by that Swagger is a terrible fit and looks so awkward only saying 7 words.

I enjoyed this more then anything Swagger has ever done. Them taking the time to basically call Glen an idiot for not knowing what WWE is hilarious. People may say that they don't need to come out and say it's fake, but every once in a while, you just have to. This was a perfect time too, and I think it's only going to draw more people to the show.

I don't have a problem with it. They addressed a situation in a professional manner. Now the wrestling fan side of me wonders why the guy playing Colter (I know him as Dutch Mantell but that's not his real name either) hasn't been used as a manager before. That man can talk. Even in the interview-esque portion of it when he wasn't playing a character and was being real he still was fantastic.

Kayfabe has been dead since the 80s, it is just the people who follow it and write about who seem to be in the dark about this.

That being said, it is funny to see mainstream news org, being marks. Stupid fucks must think Anthony Hopkins is a serial killer or Christian Bale fights crime at night.

He does go to the supermarket as Kane. He chokeslammed the saucier into the aisle.

Does really matter now, the E is going to squash Swagger like they do any mid-carder that gets pinched & this gimmick is going to burn up quicker then the dank they found in his car.
