The first match announced for the 2020 Royal Rumble pay per view event was a one on one match for the WWE Universal Championship.

Between the reigning and defending champion, Seth Rollins(c) and the challenger Aleister Black.

The challenger won a 10 man mini rumble match on an episode of Monday Night RAW to earn this shot.​

KOFI KINGSTON(C) VS BRAUN STROWMAN
The second match announced for the 2020 Royal Rumble ppv was another one on one men’s division match.

This time around for the WWE Championship between the current champion Kofi Kingston(c) and the challenger Braun Strowman.

The challenger aka Strowman earned this opportunity by defeating Kingston in a non-title match on an episode of Friday Night Smackdown.​

It was revealed that it would be current champion Becky Lynch(c) attempting to defend against Asuka.​

The fourth and final match was announced for the main card porition of the WWE 2020 Royal Rumble pay per view event.

It was a one on one women’s division match for the WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship.

It would be the current champion aka Bayley(c) versus the challenger aka Alexa Bliss.​

It was announced that the Kickoff show of the 2020 WWE Royal Rumble pay per view event would be made up of two matches. The first was for the WWE United States Championship between Andrade(c) and AJ Styles

2020 WWE ROYAL RUMBLE KICKOFF SHOW RECAP​

The 2020 WWE Royal Rumble pay per view event kickoff show consisted of two championship matches. The first was a one on one men’s division match for Friday Night Smackdown’s WWE Intercontinental Championship. Between the reigning and defending champion Shinsuke Nakamura(c) and the challenger Apollo Crews. Which saw the defending champion aka Nakamura pin his opponent after hitting a Kinshasa.

The second and final match of the kickoff show match saw Monday Night RAW’s WWE United States Championship up for grabs. It saw Andrade(c) attempt to defend the title against AJ Styles. It ended with the fromer aka Andrade retaining his title by way of pinfall following a Hammerlock DDT.

2020 WWE ROYAL RUMBLE PPV RECAP​

The 2020 edition of the WWE Royal Rumble pay per view event kicked off with the WWE Championship match. Which saw the reigning and defending champion Kofi Kingston, successfully retain his title against Braun Strowman by way of pinfall. He achieved this by escaping an attempted Running Powerslam from Strowman then spun the big man around and hit the Trouble in Paradise.

Next the 2020 thirty woman Royal Rumble match took place. It featured female superstars from Monday Night RAW, NXT, NXT UK, Friday Night Smackdown and WWE Hall of Famers. The Queen of Spades aka Shayna Baszler who walked out as the winner when it was all said and done.

Then the WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship was on the line as Bayley(c) attempted to defend against Alexa Bliss. Which saw the former retain her title after hitting a Rose Plant which led to the pinfall.

After that the WWE Universal Championship match featured the defending champion Seth Rollins(c) and the challenger Aleister Black facing off. The conclusion of the match saw the Rollins hit a Buckle Bomb and then a Curb Stomp for the win

In the penultimate match of the night saw the WWE RAW Women’s Championship up for grabs. As Becky Lynch(c) faced off with the Empress aka Asuka. In the end Lynch hit the Manhandle Slam on her opponent for the win.

Finally the event closed out with the 30-man Royal Rumble match which saw a returning Edge outlast twenty-nine other men to win the match.​
