Yeah if anything 1987-1989 is really Flair's golden years, after that it's just a 10-year long steady decline.
But Barry - he was American.

Flair in the 80s was a god at wrestling, his 90s saw much of his abilities start to dip and his attitude started to see him give less of a shit every passing year until you could tell he was phoning it in. While his 2000s was not much better, the difference was most of his abilities declined rapidly but he at least found the passion again.

I look at it like this:

70s-80s Flair: Passionate and Peak Ability

90s Flair: Lacking Passion and Abilities are starting to decline

2000s Flair: Newfound Passion but the Abilities have declined severely.

And his 2000-2022 was not good.
I was talking about 1990-2010. He retired from wrestling in 2012 but obviously has made appearances since then. I would argue is 2003-2005 run in Evolution was pretty good though. The 80s were his glory days though for sure

1992 WWF year was crazy good too but most 90s WCW isn't, he would just have enough gems most years to make people forget
Oh don't get me wrong, Flair with the right person in the 90s could pull out a banger every now and again, but you could definitely tell by 1996 he was tired of wrestling for a long while.

He really was in just a miserable situation. Who knows what could have been if he jumped to WWF in 1998.

I would say his 2001-2005 run in WWE was really quite good. It was 2006-2008 that got rough but he saved it with his retirement match against HBK haha. Having him paired with Triple H, Randy, and Batista really did allow his talents to shine and cover up his age. Once he was on his own again though, it started to become apparent he needed to wrap it up.

Just think if there was no Funk there would be no Onita. With no Onita Deathmatches and Hardcore Wrestling would have never gotten popular. Which means no Sasha getting into Wrestling, weird how that works.

By this math, you could also say no ECW and if there's no ECW, a certain young son of a billionaire might not fall in love with wrestling and start his own company.

Funk helped the boys get paid with the long con.

With the madness of WrestleMania weekend in the rearview, it is now time to unveil the third inductee!

The next man we shall be inducting is what happens when breathtaking agility and undeniable charisma coalesce into one generational talent. Embarking on a 35 year career by leaving his native Japan to train in Mexico, this man would ultimately return to his home country to forge a career that has led him into countless pro wrestling halls of fame, now including our very own! 11-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, 6-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion, 3-time winner of Best of the Super Juniors, 2-time Super J Cup winner, 1-time GHC Junior Heavyweight and Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion, 1-time holder of the J-Crown, only to mention a handful of the accomplishments all amounting to what could easily be argued as the greatest Junior Heavyweight career of all time! Please welcome to the Wrestling Smarks Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame --

JUSHIN

"THUNDER"
LIGER

aNpAOk4.png

That’s right - the iconic masked super junior has joined the ranks of our prestigious honorees. After returning from excursion and donning the Jushin Liger persona, based off a popular anime hero, Liger’s career exploded with him quickly becoming a top junior heavyweight in NJPW and capturing the Junior Heavyweight Title within a year. This was nothing if not a sign of things to come, with Liger going on to become an institution of the division, solidifying himself as one of the best workers of the 90s and beyond en route to dozens of championship wins on multiple continents. Fans from different eras and regions may all have different matches and moments that come to mind when thinking of Liger, due to his constant globetrotting over the course of 30-plus prolific careers in the industry. Some will think of Super J clashes with opponents such as The Great Sasuke. Others will think of Liger wrestling on the debut episode of WCW Nitro against Brian Pillman. Or maybe his transformation into the sadistic Kishin Liger to combat the fierce Great Muta. In the not-so-distant past, Liger even made a surprise appearance at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn to battle Tyler Breeze. Jushin “Thunder” Liger covered a spectacular amount of ground and always left fans amazed, not just by his brilliant attire, or even his impeccable technique between the ropes, but by his tangible love of the sport of pro wrestling. Liger revolutionized the game and laid the groundwork for so many performers of today, but beyond that, he also set a standard for true professionalism and dedication to his craft throughout an illustrious 35 years. Rightly so… today… Jushin “Thunder” Liger joins the Wrestling Smarks Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame!
