I think it was a show sandwiched between two and not having a tv show makes it tough. I do think the effort was lacking but I personally never saw it as anywhere near the cache of fd. I was it more like a cross over new years dash ig.

Like obviously the partnership isn't dying, AEW EVPs are now the tag champions. But the communication feels extremely lacking now, they don't really have any cohesion between the talent both use anymore like before. It's all just really weird is the best I can describe it.

And also funny bc all that said, I thought t Dynasty was a way better show than WK which had the traditional build

I would be willing to bet they've never listened to a second of English commentary in their life before yesterday....considering Chris is the producer for it and in charge of all English content when he isn't commentating himself

He's just an Internet nerd that got thrown on commentary bc he could speak both languages and ended up good at it, but he still doesn't fit your mold if a traditional commentator regardless so I don't even think he's supposed to be a consistent guy with Walker anyway, they just can't keep 2 at a time, they struggle with 1 and Chris lol

So again if an actual professional commentator was sent from another company to work with Walker we could have avoided some issues lol I don't think Chris should be calling non-NJPW stuff tbf, he did do good one stardom show but I think that's bc he did crazy research before hand to make sure of it but you can usually tell a difference when there's others involved bc he spends so much time on NJPW stuff with the website that it's an obvious blind spot sometimes

His role as a commentator is so secondary that when they tour outside of Tokyo, Walker has to get a wrestler to join bc NJPW won't let Chris travel bc he's needed for his 9-5 office job in Tokyo for them, whatever that may be lol (translating I think). So realistically this should be a temporary problem and probably one that NJPW should have prevented long in advance. Again, not defending the comments themselves bc I think some were egregious, but it's crazy how so many things being done better could have prevented this silly issue

Well I guess I never saw it as a heel turn when he's always done the NJPW homer gimmick against NOAH and AEW, and he's also done his bit criticizing refs over the top and annoyingly before.

But you would probably remember the whole Ospreay/Umino/Red Shoes ref stoppage issue, Chris was constantly jumping on Red Shoes being a bad red for Umino matches (despite it not being a real story at first dictated to him by NJPW), and it was the exact same bit as questioning why an AEW ref wouldn't stop the match to protect Gabe Kidd as he did in this match

This is what I mean when I think this is turning into an unnecessary tribal thing, which I know sounds insane to say when he literally called Tony a "money mark" bc how much more tribal can you get than that, but my God there's years worth of examples of this lol it's not a sudden shoot on AEW, but considering everyone thinks it is, I'm understanding the reaction more now. Because of this was out of nowhere, my reaction might actually be the same too. I think I had just gotten used to and tuned a lot out

Zarian seems to think the lack of promotion for Dynasty on AEWs part has to do with the Max deal but he's not sure. Easy speculation is Tony wanted it to stream on Max as the first special but couldn't get it done in time, and Max wouldn't really want them advertising another service (even if it's World). I think he's unsure if Max would actually care about that but WBD did kill the YouTube shows before so I can't say it's too far fetched for me.
