A lot of misconceptions are coming from this on Reddit because they don't actually watch NJPW themselves

Yeh I think the point is more njpw brass n njpw talent would be livid if X was doing this about njpw. It's fine to laugh at yourself. Not really fine to shit on the promotion you're partners with. Tbh I think all the insider stuff he does is kind of cringey outside being mad at h o t. He says shit that's verbatim in the njpw sub as memes. It's pretty immature and devoid of originality to me. What does this add to the matches ?

I think it's also kind of wack they didn't have any AEW commentators, I guess Rocky was supposed to be that guy since he's an executive but he's never done AEW commentary before and has done NJPW English commentary a lot so that's a hard sell. This show became less and less of an AEW card as it got closer to airing, very confusing.

I genuinely think the partnership might be on the rocks, not because of this or anything, but almost as if it was before and this is what's going to be our indication in hindsight

I also think the big issue is he's not a heel commentator but turns into an IWC dork for certain angles n it kind doesnt make sense if he's not gonna get cummapances in kayfabe for disparaging talent . If he's a character then he should be a character that's avaliable to fuck up. If not stick to the script

I tend to find them funny, never thought they were an issue until they were. When pressed I can't say they "add anything" but I'm sure I would say that about most comedy lines, people on usually take issue if they don't find them funny

Njpw n aew had bigger cards to promote so I kind of get why it was a bit tough to coordinate. Shit it was the max debut too which was negotiated late.

I think the reason I didn’t have an issue with it, is I don’t watch much NJPW, so I had never heard him doing it before, and just thought it was something he was doing for the show I didn’t know he always did stupid shit like this. I was getting a chuckle out of it.

Well they never even told you how to watch the show and the only promotion on AEW TV was the weird Mercedes promo on Mina on Wednesday which felt like a required assignment. Rocky probably deserves all the credit for the build since most of it was on NJPW America shows, the only Japan build really was Kenny/Kidd too. Forbidden door has way more effort put into it on the America side which you'd think this would have been flipped but it's like neither had effort

I don't really rate guys like Moxley or whoever not going over like I've seen some saying because they still had to run a collision so you can't send every top star to Japan, but no commentators is weird.

I feel like I need to clarify I'm not on "Team NJPW" and just annoyed bc I don't see how this adds anything to what I'm saying too lol the tournament was also lazy on everyone's part and didn't make me feel better about the show, especially bc it was pre show but I didn't think it was a big deal overall, just another thing I'd group "weird" when it came to the dynasty show

Yea I didn't think u were blaming aew for njpws laziness tbf. But ur def more annoyed than me cuz I thought the show was fine.

I think it was a show sandwiched between two and not having a tv show makes it tough. I do think the effort was lacking but I personally never saw it as anywhere near the cache of fd. I was it more like a cross over new years dash ig.

Fwiw I think wk was not well built either so mb it's just njpw struggling rn

Like obviously the partnership isn't dying, AEW EVPs are now the tag champions. But the communication feels extremely lacking now, they don't really have any cohesion between the talent both use anymore like before. It's all just really weird is the best I can describe it.

And also funny bc all that said, I thought t Dynasty was a way better show than WK which had the traditional build
