No one wants or cares about it, so what does it really do in the grand scheme of things?

Nothing it was a prop used to help elevate Taz's son. So, throwing away a prop that has no significance to anyone else in the organization does the same thing it did for him.

I mean TNA iMPACT has been arguably the best wrestling show on TV for the past year. So your loss.

Because that’s not how it works. For a variety of reasons. Mainly because you don’t typically chase a second accolade while you currently have one. Double champions are rare and few and when it happens, they lose one or both quickly. It’s not a long term situation.

The bigger reason is you can’t sell someone as being ready for the next step while they’re still bogged down by low card angles and accolades.

WWE wouldn’t push the 24/7 Champion into the main event, for example. He’d have to lose it first and do some serious damage work to elevate him beyond that division to the fans.

This is the facts. The FTW Title was meaningless to AEW, just like it was meaningless to ECW. It was what someone used when they wanted to be a champion but weren't. In kayfabe, Champions make more money and get more publicity. But the FTW Championship isn't a legit championship so they ain't making more money.

The only sad thing about it going away when it did is that the greatest FTW Champ didn't retire it, that being The Learning Tree Chris Jericho.
