Right my friend here goes my review of the Great American Bash 2001. I haven't kept up with this as I wanted to so bear with me if I get confused at any point. I am excited to see what you do here.

-Mysterio vs. Lesnar - I really enjoyed this and Rey is always so great against bigger men. They have had good chemistry in real life so I could really imagine this coming off in the way that it did. You certainly got the brutality of Lesnar across really well and he makes one heck of an ECW Champion. Hot opening to the show that the crowd would have been really into.

-Mike Awesome squash - Nothing much to say here other than you made him look great. Sadly, I have never watched much of him but from listening to podcasts and stuff I do know he was a big deal and had huge upside so makes sense to do what you did.

-Christian retains - This was all about Rene Dupree on the outside distracting Billy Kidman over Torrie Wilson. So Dupree is in the Tomko role with Christian by the looks of it and he really fancies Torrie. Something tells me with the way it ended and Christian ordering it off that Dupree might go after Wilson following this.

-R-Killa leaving Henry high and dry - Clever way to give Harlem Heat the win and advance this story with R-Killa basically blaming the defeat on Henry. Having him try to turn on him after the match only for Booker and Stevie to make the save keeps this going and I wonder what the next steps will be. Does R-Killa align with a team for a 6-man tag I wonder?

-Eddie Guerrero as new TV champ - I really liked the execution of this. Was clever to have the mist spot and Muta thinks it was RVD doing the damage to him and it allowed Eddie to win in trademark fashion. I fully expect an Eddie vs. RVD rematch which should be very fun indeed. Best booked match so far I reckon.

-Mortis carnage - This felt like the most authentically ECW match/angle of the evening as it was complete chaos and brutal at the same time. Mortis/Kanyon getting decimated but then disappearing was an interesting spot and wondering where it goes. Can't say I ever was a big Raven fan but I appreciate the storytelling you're doing here at the very least.

-The Outsiders being The Outsiders - My least favourite finish of the night but I get why you did it. It is very in keeping with what they have always done but it gets the wrong heat in my opinion. Having said that it was a given during this period of wrestling. I'm currently watching 2001 SmackDown and you see this thing all the time. The fallout from this is what really interests me.

-Angle and Piper win - Not too much to say here other than that it was a nice feel-good moment with Angle and Roddy victorious and I think every show needs at least one of these to stop heels feeling so dominant as they often are in everyone's booking.

-THE MAIN EVENT - This was superbly written and I really enjoyed the finish and the brutality which I thought you got across really well. Triple H as the leader of the nWo is certainly a perfect choice and the faction is massive so keeping the title on him is logical. Looking forward to seeing what is next as this seemed to be the end of the issue with Stone Cole as it was pretty definitive and in the Triple Cage. Looking forward to seeing what you do.

I really enjoyed the show and although some of the matches were short I was okay with it as I thought you really focused on the storytelling aspects instead. Lots of things that are spicing up and the culmination of a couple as well. Great work, keep it up!

WCW Monday Night Nitro
July 8, 2002
Nassau Coliseum
Uniondale, NY

Mike Tenay:
“Welcome everyone, we’re just 24 hours from The Great American Bash, where Triple H survived Stone Cold Steve Austin.”

Don West: “It was insane Mike, but it’s time to move on! We have a hell of a show tonight!”

Mike Tenay:
“We’re starting off with a big one. Kurt Angle takes on the NWO's Sean O’Haire!

Kurt Angle vs. Sean O’Haire

Angle quickly takes O’Haire down and punches away at him. O’Haire is able to fire back and gets Angle off him. Angle hits the ropes and O’Haire leapfrogs over him and then hits a dropkick! Angle reverses an Irish whip into the corner, but then runs into an elbow from O’Haire. O’Haire leaps to the top rope, but when Angle charges at him he leaps off with a full somersault, landing on his feet! Back kick from O’Haire knocks Angle down! Cover, 1…2…Angle kicks out. O’Haire sends Angle off the ropes and gets an elbow to the midsection and a kneelift to the face! Angle backs up into the corner to avoid the cover, but O’Haire runs right in with a clothesline, then hits a huge hip toss out of the corner! O’Haire presses Angle over his head, but Angle rakes the eyes to escape.

German suplex from Angle, and Angle holds onto it. A second German. Angle releases on the third one, dropping O’Haire on the back of his head. O’Haire manages to get back to his feet, but he’s dazed and Angle catches him with a belly-to-belly suplex! O’Haire again gets back to his feet, but Angle knocks him down with a flying forearm. Angle comes off the ropes and hits a second flying forearm. O’Haire keeps getting back to his feet, and on Angle’s third forearm attempt O’Haire knocks him out of the air with a big boot! O’Haire sets up Angle for a powerbomb, but Angle tightens his legs around O’Haire’s head on the way up, suddenly locking in a submission! Angle has a triangle lock in on O’Haire, and O’Haire seems to be fading. Curt Hennig runs down to the ring and attacks Angle, breaking up the hold and causing the DQ.

Winner: Kurt Angle by DQ in 6:53

Curt Hennig
punches away at Angle, but Angle fights back. Hennig escapes, but Angle gets a good shot in on O’Haire before running off.

Backstage, Billy Kidman and Torrie Wilson are with Jeremy Borash.

Jeremy Borash: Billy Kidman, while not victorious last night against Christian, tonight, you team with Test for another chance at Tag Team gold.

Kidman: “It was a tough loss last night for sure. Let me tell you though, Rene Dupree, you stay away from Torrie or I’ll take you out for good. As for tonight, the me and Test, we’re gonna show the NWO that it’s a new day, and new time. This is WCW. It’s where I’ve made my career, and I’m not about to let Kevin Nash and Scott Hall wreck things again. Tonight, Test and I take the belts.”

Test walks into the shot.

Test: “Let’s make something clear. I might have come into WCW differently than Billy here, but I’m just as sick of Triple H and the NWO as anyone else. I’m going to kick Kevin Nash in the face, then me, Billy and this lovely lady right here, well, we’re going to have a little party.”

Kidman: “Hey, let’s not get any ideas now!”

::COMMERCIAL BREAK::

Instrumental of “Gangsta’s Paradise” plays as R-Killa, cocky as ever, makes his way down to the ring.

R-Killa: “What’s up New Jersey!

Of course, the crowd boos loudly as we’re in Long Island, New York.

R-Killa: “Alright, listen, listen, some of you out there, all of you, you might have been confused last night. That’s right, confused! Some of you were saying that I lost to Booker T and his brother last night, but that wasn’t me. Nope! NOPE! That was that dead weight I’ve been carrying around. But you know what I proved what I needed to prove. I’m done with Booker T. I’ve proven time and time again that he ain’t in my league! It’s time to move onto the big time! So right now, right here, I’m making the challenge. It’s time for R-Killa, K-Krush, K-Kwik, Ron “The God Damn Truth” Killings, to take his position on top of the mantle. I want the WCW World title and I ain’t leaving till I get a shot!”

R-Killa heads to the outside and grabs a steel chair, then sits on it in the middle of the ring, continually demanding that Triple H makes his way out to the ring. But he is answered not by the New World Order…but by Mark Henry!

R-Killa: “What you want?”

R-Killa’s confidence disappears as Mark Henry makes his way into the ring. Henry looks pissed and R-Killa notices, picking up the chair in a defensive stance.

Mark Henry: “Dead weight huh?”

R-Killa backs into the corner with the chair, with Henry slowly approaching him.

Mark Henry: “You go ahead. Try to hit me with that chair. You touch me and I’ll break every bone in your body before you even hit the ground. You make me laugh you know that Ron. For months I’ve been following you around just for you to leave me hanging against the Harlem Heat. Man, that’s trash. But now that you showed me your true colors, all I see is you hiding in that corner, cowering away like a lil’ wimp. I could squash you like a bug right now, but I’ll take you running out of the ring right now and forgetting this whole title shot business. Because I’m the one who wants a crack at Triple H. I’m gonna show you and everyone around the world that I ain’t dead weight. That I’m the World’s Strongest Man, and that means I’ll be the world champion!

CAN YOU DIG IT….SUCCCCKKKKA!” Here comes Booker T! Booker enters the ring and walks right up to Mark Henry, with R-Killa still cowering in the corner.

Booker T: “About time you smartened up Mark Henry. Look man, even though you been a pain in my side all year, I get it. I know who’s to blame. Who’s to blame is this sucka right here.”

Both Booker and Henry look at R-Killa, who’s still curled up in the corner, chair in hand.

Booker T: “So I got no beef with you Mark. You got yours last night, the way I see it, we’re even. From now on I hope you use your damn head and pick better friends. As for you R-Killa. Man, you just don’t know when to quit. You take last night however you want. But there’s no way sucka, that you think you getting a title shot before me! WCW is my house dawg! I have the FIVE-TIME…FIVE-TIME…FIVE-TIME WCW World Champion. And it’s my right, hell, my duty, to take it back from the NWO! Now if you wanna fight for that right, either one of you, I’m down. Let’s do it. But just know, I won’t stop until I’m wearing that title again!”

An explosion happens up the ramp…and The Giant emerges, slowly making his way down to the ring!

The Giant: “I’ve…once again, had it up…to my throat…with the NWO. Now Booker, I respect the hell out of you man, I do. But let’s make something clear. All this duty and right stuff you feel you earned, that all means nothing. The only reason you won the WCW Title all those times is because I wasn’t there to stop you! I’ve been fighting the likes of Hulk Hogan when he wore the colors, the likes of Kevin Nash and Scott Hall and Syxx, X-Pac whatever the hell his name is, when you were still fighting Bunkhouse Buck. I’ve been dealing with Triple H just as long. If anyone’s taking that title from him, it’s ME! R-Killa, Mark Henry, this isn’t your fight. The…”

Mark Henry takes exception to that comment and gets in The Giant’s face!

The Giant: “You wanna go big man?”

“BANG!” “Yo it’s me, it’s me, it’s D-D-P!” An instrumental of “Smells Like Teen Spirit” plays as Diamond Dallas Page, with Stacy Keibler, makes his way to the ring!

Diamond Dallas Page: “Look, look, look. If there’s anyone, and I mean anyone, who deserves a the shot at taking down the NWO scum, look no further than me, D-D-P!” Now listen, Booker T, you know I got respect for you bro, but you don’t deserve that title shot before me. You may have all forgotten I had Triple H beat at the Clash before those pieces of trash Shawn Michaels, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash came down and cost me the match! I’m still waiting for the rematch on that one! Now big man, we might have lost the belts last night, but I still got your back when it comes to a path to the WCW title. But you gotta wait your turn.”

The Giant: “My turn Dallas? Who saved your ass in the first place huh?”

Diamond Dallas Page: “Hey man I appreciate you having my back these last few months. But this is the WCW title, the big gold, we’re talking about! So if we gotta go in that ring, then we’ll go. And that goes for the rest of you, R-Killa, Mark Henry, Booker. If you all wanna dance, then let’s dance!”

The NWO theme plays as Eric Bischoff, Big Bossman, Shawn Michaels and WCW World Champion Triple H make their way down the ramp. HHH notably, is pushed in a wheelchair by Bossman.

Diamond Dallas Page: “Boy it sure looks like Steve Austin kicked your ass!”

Triple H: “Yeah, maybe that’s so, but when it came down to it, Steve Austin isn’t here, and I’m STILL THE WCW WORLD CHAMPION!”

Shawn Michaels: Hunter, relax, I got this. Listen boys! We’ve been listening to you all in the back, and while we appreciate your interest in fighting for the WCW World Championship, all applications have been DENIED!”

Mark Henry: “That’s the wrong answer pretty boy!”

Shawn Michaels: “Come on man, the guy is in a wheelchair! Not everyone in this room can say they beat Stone Cold Steve Austin in a Triple Cage Match, but I think those who can deserve a bit of a break from defending the title!”

Eric Bischoff: “Let me take over here Shawn. Look gentlemen, the fact of the matter is the WCW World Heavyweight Champion isn’t medically cleared to compete tonight, or for the foreseeable future. There’s just no way around it guys. But hey, I’m sure we can figure out something else.”

The NWO start to leave…before we hear “HERE COMES THE MONEY!” WCW Owner Shane McMahon is here!

Shane McMahon: “I gotta stop you right there Eric. First off, Triple H, I have to tip my hat to you. That was one hell of a performance last night and I can’t help but respect the guts it took to walk away, or in your case be carried away, from the Triple Cage. But this isn’t late-90s WCW. I’m not an owner who’s going to sit around while the WCW Champion defends the title twice a year! In this WCW, in MY WCW, the champion needs to be active!”

Eric Bischoff: “Look at him Shane! Does Triple H really look like he’s in condition to compete tonight, title or no title?”

Shane McMahon: “That’s the one thing I have to agree with you about Eric. Triple H is not in any condition to compete tonight.”

Triple H: “That’s damn right!”

Shane McMahon: “But that doesn’t mean we can’t determine a #1 Contender right here, tonight. As WCW World Champion Triple H, you are required to defend the WCW World Championship once every thirty days. Allow me to mark that down right here that the winner of tonight’s one-fall six-pack challenge will take on you Triple H on Nitro, August 5th! And with five guys in there, I’m sure you’re wondering…why six? Well don’t worry, I got someone else who’s looking to kick your ass, Triple H!”

Shane McMahon leaves as Triple H shakes his head in his wheelchair. In the ring, with everyone looking down the ramp, R-Killa uses this opportunity to smack Booker T with the chair! R-Killa goes for Mark Henry, but Henry moves and R-Killa nails The Giant in the back! Giant slowly turns around as R-Killa jumps over the top rope to escape. Giant starts arguing with Henry though, and they go at it! Officials come down to break up the brawl, but when DDP tries to help the Giant grabs him by the throat! Giant decides to let DDP go, but DDP doesn’t seem too thrilled about what just happened!

Mike Tenay: “Tonight Don, we have a Six-Pack Challenge to determine the #1 Contender for the WCW World Championship!

Don West:
Booker, Page, Giant, Henry, R-Killa…but who’s #6?”

***

Kevin Kelly:
Kevin Kelly here with the WCW United States Champion Christian. Christian, I understand that you are about to defend the US title tonight…but we haven’t heard about who your opponent will be?”

Christian: “It’s absolutely ridiculous Kelly! Just 24 hours after I beat Billy Kidman I have to defend the title again? And against some hidden opponent? What’s the deal with that? Clearly those up top can’t stand me, Christian, holding the US title for this long. Well I’m sorry to disappoint whomever, but tonight I plan to retain this title like I always do. And…”

Both Kevin Kelly and Christian are left speechless as “Rowdy” Roddy Piper walks into the shot.

Roddy Piper: “There’s no conspiracy here Christian. Thought I forgot about ya didn’t ya? You see before I ceded power back to Shane McMahon I guaranteed myself a little US title shot to show you a little something about respect. See ya out there champ!”

Christian doesn’t seem to know what to do now that he knows Roddy Piper is the challenger for the US title!

Jeremy Borash:
“It looks like things are insane out there. I’m back here with William Regal. Regal, what…”

William Regal: “That’s Sir Regal to you, you miserable peasant. Are you going to ask me about Tajiri? Or Mortis? That’s in the past. If Tajiri wants to leave one band of circus freaks to join another, he can go right ahead. I’m tried of looking out for him. I never want to deal with those disgusting ECW mutants ever again. Now if anyone wants to watch last night’s match and make judgments about me, come meet me in the ring next week, and I’ll make an example out of you sunshine!”

Mike Tenay:
“We just had Hot Rod carried to the back. We hope he’s okay.”

Don West: “That was a cheap move from O’Haire!”

Mike Tenay:
“That’s understating it! The NWO can’t be running around beating up whomever they want like this!”

We see ECW Owner Stephanie McMahon signing some documents when Rob Van Dam walks in.

Stephanie McMahon: “Rob, Hi. I’m sorry, I’m just signing some last papers to finalize complete control of ECW to the General Manager.”

Rob Van Dam: “Hey, that’s fine. I don’t mean to come in here and mess up what you’re doing. I just wanted to come in and get a rematch for my ECW World Television Championship.”

Stephanie McMahon: “Where’s Fonzie?

Rob Van Dam: “He wasn’t feeling too well tonight. Honestly, I thought this would be pretty easy. I mean who wouldn’t want to see me beat Eddie Guerrero one more time to get my title back you know?”

Stephanie McMahon: Well Rob, I’ll be honest. We have someone else lined up tonight to face Guerrero for the TV Title. Tonight, it’s Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio Jr.

Rob Van Dam: “I mean, that’s cool and all but it can’t be a three-way? Don’t I get a rematch if I ask for it?”

Stephanie McMahon: Rob, the new commissioner and I thought you may ask for this match, and he decided that he’s not going to grant you it.”

Rob Van Dam: “Who, Paul? Seriously? I don’t get it Steph. I live and breathe ECW every day and I think a shot at the TV title is more than fair…”

Stephanie McMahon: “Listen, tonight we decided you should take the night off. Take it, and we’ll work something out next week.”

Rob Van Dam shakes his head before walking out, but not before saying one last thing.

Rob Van Dam: “Whatever Steph.”

Joey Styles: “Hello everyone I’m Joey Styles alongside former ECW World Champion Tazz! Partner, we have TWO championship matches tonight. A rematch from Hardcore Heaven, Kid Kash and Jamie Noble look to dethrone ECW World Tag Team Champions AJ Styles and Jerry Lynn!

We return to RISE…with Chris Kanyon stumbling out to the ring. Kanyon is sporting a huge bandage on his head, clearly from the attack from The Great American Bash.

Kanyon: “What’s going on Long Island!

Kanyon:
“I know it’s been a while guys, sometimes life just gets in the way, you know what I mean. Oh, this bandage? It’s nothing. I went skiing last week and, man, one little misstep and I went flying! Definitely bashed my head in a bit but I’m okay!”

Joey Styles: “Skiing? It’s July! And who is he kidding, that’s from what Raven did last Sunday night!”

Tazz:
“He might have a concussion, Joey.”

Kanyon: “I’m here because I have a message from the big man. He told me this is for Raven. I have it written down here just give me a second!”

Raven wastes no time, appearing at the entrance of the stage.

Raven: “You really have some screws loose don’t you Kanyon. How many times do I need to beat the hell out of you for you to leave me alone?”

Kanyon: “Me? I’m just the messenger here, Raven. I don’t know why you’re bringing me into this.”

Raven stares at Kanyon from the entrance, in complete disbelief.

Kanyon: “But the big man is tired of this too. He wants this to end as much as you do. He wants a match.”

Raven: “I don’t see any reason to continue this. I made my point last Sunday at The Great American Bash. You’re no longer in my head.”

Kanyon: “Heh. Well, Raven. He thought you’d say that. And I decided that I would step up! I’ll give you the chance to end this all next week on RISE! I’m throwing out the challenge. Me, and only me, Chris Kanyon challenges both your guy, Malice…”

Kanyon suddenly gets very serious…

Kanyon: “…and that traitor Tajiri…”

Kanyon then returns to speaking normally…

Kanyon: “I’ll take them both on, two against one, and if I win, you give the big man what he wants! And if you win Raven, you can end all this for good right there and then. We won’t put up a fight!”

Raven: “That’s the challenge? Hey, if you want to get destroyed by Malice and Tajiri next week I’m all for it. I’m not afraid of you, Mortis, whomever. You’re on Kanyon! I promise you, you will feel the wrath of the Raven one way or another, and then I will end this for good. So it is written, so it will come to pass. Quote the Raven…nevermore!”

Kanyon: “I’ll let the big man know it’s on! Thank you Raven!

Joey Styles: “What is Chris Kanyon thinking? He’s going to get destroyed next week. Malice and the Japanese Buzzsaw Tajiri?!

When we come back to RISE with ECW Owner Stephanie McMahon standing in the center of the ring.

Stephanie McMahon: “First thing’s first, congratulations Rey Mysterio Jr. on winning the ECW World Television Championship!” Now let’s get to business. As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I have decided as owner to step behind the scenes and finance Extreme Championship Wrestling. It was fun to purchase and battle my dad, but let’s be honest I don’t think anyone out there or here tonight believes that a McMahon should be in charge of any creative choices for ECW. I’m here to make ECW the biggest brand there is in this business, and the best way I can do that is by naming someone the official Commissioner of ECW. This position differs from the current General Manager role as I will have no say whatsoever in day-to-day ECW in-ring decisions. This person will have complete autonomy. So now...

“The Next Big Thing” plays as Paul Heyman makes his way down to the ring with ECW World Champion Brock Lesnar.

Paul Heyman:
“I felt Stephanie that the ECW World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar should be present as my transition from General Manager to Commissioner is completed!”

Stephanie McMahon: “You know Paul, I’m glad you’re here.”

Paul Heyman: “Of course, why wouldn’t I be?”

Stephanie McMahon: “I appreciate you teaching me the history of ECW as we prepare for this journey. I’m happy to have made this financial investment, while of course saving your ass, and I believe that your influence and leadership will always be felt. You founded this company, this brand, ECW, in 1993 and nine years later look where we are. The way I see it, there’s only one next step for you.”

Paul Heyman stands proudly…

Stephanie McMahon: “Thank you for everything Paul. There’s only one thing left to say…Paul Heyman…YOU’RE FIRED!”

Paul Heyman stands in shock as Brock Lesnar seems completely confused about what’s going on.

Stephanie McMahon: “Ladies and gentlemen, the new Commissioner of Extreme Championship Wrestling, I present to you…Mick Foley!

Joey Styles: “Oh my god!”

“Wreck” plays as Mick Foley makes his way to the ring. As soon as he slides into the ring, Brock Lesnar stands right up to him.

“FOLEY!”
“FOLEY!”
“FOLEY!”
“FOLEY!”

“FOLEY!”

With Brock Lesnar staring him down, Foley simply smiles and grabs a microphone. Paul Heyman though, still can’t believe what just happened.

Paul Heyman: Mick Foley? What? What are you doing? ECW is my baby! I created this! This is an outrage! I must be dreaming. This can’t be real!”

Mick Foley: “I promise you Paul, this is no dream! And I’m going to quickly cut to the chase. Brock Lesnar, yeah, you kicked my ass before. But if you think you can stand here and intimidate me you’re dead wrong. Paul, get your guy ready. Next week on this very TV show, RISE, I will announce the #1 Contender for the ECW World Heavyweight Championship for a match to take place on August 4 at Anarchy Rulz!

Brock Lesnar begins yelling at Paul Heyman, but Heyman surprisingly takes it without fear as he’s still in absolute shock.

Mick Foley: “And hey, Paul, Brock. Have a nice day!”

Mick Foley plays to the crowd as Stephanie McMahon claps. Paul Heyman slowly walks away from the ring, completely dejected, with Brock Lesnar staring at Mick Foley as RISE goes off the air!

We have a big show tonight Scott, the Cruiserweight Championship is on the line as Super Crazy defends against rival Tajiri. But first, a rematch from Worldwide a couple of weeks ago, the newly christened America’s Most Wanted take on the Harris Brothers!

***

America’s Most Wanted vs. The Harris Brothers

All four men brawl in the middle of the ring, and the Harris Brothers ultimately clean house. Ron and Don pummel away at James Storm in the corner. Ron comes off the ropes but Storm catches him with a hip toss. Storm comes off the ropes and hits Ron with a bulldog. Tag is made to Chris Harris. Harris locks in a chinlock while Storm punches away on Ron, causing Don to try to break it up…inadvertently distracting the referee. Don is dazed as Storm picks up and hits an inverted atomic drop, with Wildcat taking him out with a flying clothesline! Wildcat covers Don and Storm knocks Ron off the apron, 1…2…3!

Winners: America’s Most Wanted when Wildcat Chris Harris pinned Don Harris in 4:31

***

Brian Lee
slides into the ring, but he doesn’t engage with AMW as he looks to be here to just help the Harris Brothers.

::COMMERCIAL BREAK::

Skipper grabs a headlock, but Disco sends him off the ropes but Skipper knocks him down with a clothesline. Disco slides to the outside but Skipper goes airbourne with a corkscrew plancha! Disco tries another clothesline but Skipper hooks the arm and gets a crucifix pin, 1…2…Disco kicks out! Skipper hits some more forearms, then springboards off the ropes and catches Disco with a diving hurricanrana! Skipper gets a full head of steam…only to be tripped from the outside by Alex Wright! Disco stomps away on Skipper and then sets him up for a powerbomb…only for Skipper to roll through with a victory roll, 1…2…3!

Winner: Elix Skipper via pinfall in 6:04

Disco Inferno
can’t believe it and levels Elix Skipper as he celebrates. Alex Wright gets in on the action as they stomp away on Skipper. They continue to pound away on him when…Shane Helms runs down to the ring (not in his Hurricane attire!). Helms nails both Disco and Wright. Disco bails, but Helms gets Wright with Nightmare on Helms Street! Helms checks on Skipper and Helms helps him up…it looks like we have an alliance here!

Scott Hudson: “Mike, that looked like to me the return of “Sugar” Shane Helms!”

Mike Tenay: “
The superhero days look over. Helms was already an accomplished competitor before he became The Hurricane as he was a World Cruiserweight Champion. Elix Skipper and Shane Helms could make one heck of a team!”

::COMMERCIAL BREAK::

World Cruiserweight Championship
Super Crazy © vs. Tajiri (w/Malice)

Tajiri goes for a quick roundhouse kick that Super Crazy evades. Super Crazy takes Tajiri down with a drop toehold and floats over into a front chancery. Tajiri counters into a hammerlock, but Crazy turns that into a wristlock. Tajiri flips through the wristlock, adds a cartwheel and monkey flips Crazy, but Crazy just lands on his feet. Tajiri quickly comes off the ropes and gets a hurricanrana into a pin, 1…2…Crazy turns it into a pin for himself, 1…2…, Tajiri rolls through and gets a basement dropkick to the face! “Uno!”
“Dos!”
“Tres!”
“Cuatro!”
“Cinco”
“Seis”
“Siete’

“Ocho”

Tajiri slides out from under Crazy and hits him with a kick to the back. Crazy falls into the ropes, and this lets Tajiri lock in the Tarantula! It’s not a legal move in a WCW ring so Tajiri releases just before the five count. Tajiri hits Crazy with a couple of kicks before Crazy catches one and hits Tajiri with a Dragon Screw leg whip! Crazy heads to the top rope, but Mikey Whipwreck runs down to try to knock him off. Crazy punches Whipwreck away, but misses the moonsault! Tajiri looks to capitalize and puts Crazy in the tree of woe. Tajiri goes for a dropkick to the face, but Crazy powers up and Tajiri ends up sliding crotch-first into the ring post! Crazy slides Tajiri back into the ring and hits a moonsault from the second rope! 1…2…Malice drags Tajiri to the outside, breaking the count. Malice tries to help Tajiri catch his breathe, but Crazy takes them both out with a Space Flying Tiger Drop! The referee heads to the outside to try to send Malice and Whipwreck to the back as Crazy rolls Tajiri back in. Crazy covers, but he’s attacked by Raven, who came out from the crowd! Raven plants Crazy with the Evenflow DDT and drapes Tajiri on Crazy! Referee comes back to the ring, 1…2…3!

Winner: Tajiri via pinfall in 9:08 (New Champion)

Malice
dumps Super Crazy to the outside, as Raven and his new group, whatever he’s calling it this time, poses in the ring with new Cruiserweight Champion Tajiri front and center!

WCW Monday Night Nitro
July 15, 2002
The Scope
Norfolk, VA

Nitro
kicks off with Shane McMahon walking up to Eric Bischoff.

Eric Bischoff: “Make this good Shane. I’ve got a busy night ahead of me.”

Shane McMahon: “Let’s make something clear. Just because Triple H is hurt thanks to Stone Cold Steve Austin doesn’t mean you and the rest of the New World Order get to run around doing whatever the heck they want out there.”

Eric Bischoff: “Hey, a quick reminder Shane, Triple H beat Steve Austin. No matter how you look at it. And c’mon, we didn’t do anything too crazy last week.”

Shane McMahon: “Oh? Maybe you already forgot but Sean O’Haire put “Rowdy” Roddy Piper in the hospital last week.”

Eric Bischoff: “Oh please, is anyone really crying for Piper? If anyone deserved an ass-kicking over the years I mean.”

Shane McMahon: “Well that’s not gonna fly Eric. Not when I’m running things here in WCW. So tonight, the #1 contender gets a little warm-up, and Sean O’Haire gets a little punishment if you know what I’m saying. You might wanna tell your boy he’s got a...giant match tonight!”

Shane McMahon walks off as Eric Bischoff shakes his head…

Mike Tenay: “Welcome everyone to Nitro! I’m Mike Tenay along with Don West, and Don, we have a night full of action packed matches tonight!”

Don West: “Six big matches tonight Mike! We just heard about O’Haire vs. Giant. We also have a rematch from ECW RISE! Two of my favorites, Rey Mysterio Jr. and Eddie Guerrero are going to go at it for the ECW TV Title!

Mike Tenay:
“That’s right Mysterio defends his new championship tonight! Also, the main event tonight, a steel cage match set-up this morning, Kurt Angle takes on Curt Hennig!

Billy Kidman (w/Torrie Wilson) vs. X-Pac

X-Pac teases the lock-up before running from Kidman and hiding in the ropes. X-Pac eventually does tie-up with Kidman and gets an armdrag. X-Pac celebrates his small win before telling Torrie to “suck it”, which lights a fire under Kidman! Kidman attacks X-Pac and punches away at him in the corner, before sending him off the ropes and hitting a back bodydrop. X-Pac backs away but Kidman is still irate and continues to punch away at him. X-Pac escapes to the outside and Kidman chases him. X-Pac grabs Torrie and uses her as a shield, stopping Kidman and allowing X-Pac to get a cheap thumb to the eye. X-Pac sends Kidman into the steel steps before rolling back into the ring and once again celebrating with the crowd.

Kidman rolls in and X-Pac immediately grabs a headlock. Kidman eventually makes his way back to his feet and sends X-Pac off the ropes and grabs a sleeper himself…but X-Pac quickly counters with a belly-to-back suplex. X-Pac sends Kidman through the ropes back to the outside, before leaping onto the second rope and diving over the top, hitting Kidman! X-Pac rolls Kidman back into the ring, but before he can get back into the ring he begins to argue with Torrie. Kidman hits the ropes and slides under the bottom rope, bulldogging X-Pac onto the floor! Kidman slides X-Pac back in and heads to the top rope, but the Shooting Star Press misses! Torrie tends to Kidman from the outside as Big Bossman slowly walks down to the ring.

Kidman and X-Pac get back to their feet and Kidman blocks a punch and knocks X-Pac down with one of his own. Dropkick knocks X-Pac down again. X-Pac reverses an Irish Whip but Kidman slides under X-Pac’s legs…and hits the BK Bomb! 1…2…X-Pac kicks out! Kidman sends X-Pac into the corner and then mounts, hitting punches over and over with the crowd counting with him through eight. X-Pac counters with a powerbomb and puts his feet on the ropes for leverage, 1…2…Kidman still kicks out! X-Pac goes for a standard powerbomb, but Kidman turns it into a facebuster! Kidman again heads to the top rope for the Shooting Star Press…but Bossman shoves Kidman off and Kidman flies headfirst into an X-Factor! X-Pac covers, 1…2…no! X-Pac is shocked as Kidman kicks out! X-Pac props Kidman into the corner and hits a spin kick. X-Pac dances around the ring for the Bronco Buster…but he’s distracted as Diamond Dallas Page comes down to ringside and drops Bossman with a Diamond Cutter! X-Pac still tries the Bronco Buster, but Kidman gets his foot up to block! X-Pac writhes in pain as Kidman heads to the top one more time, Shooting Star Press connects! 1…2…3!

Winner: Billy Kidman via pinfall in 9:53

DDP, Kidman
and Torrie celebrate to the back as X-Pac shows his frustration in the loss.

We cut to a video with the NWO music playing…

Curt Hennig: “Would you look at that, it’s me, Curt Hennig. Representing the New World Order like only I can do. Tonight, inside the steel cage, I’ll not only be representing the NWO, but I’ll be representing Curt Hennig. See, this one is a little personal to me. Kurt Angle, for a few years now people have been talking you up like you’re the greatest in the world in that ring. They say that as an Olympian and technician, no one does it better. All that means is that they forgot about me. They forgot what perfection looks like in that ring and have settled for you. Hey, you’re good, but you’re no Curt Hennig. Now you may ask, ‘Curt, how does a steel cage match prove who the better technician is?’ It doesn’t, stupid. This is about revenge. This is about taking Kurt Angle out of the picture. You’re the best Kurt? Well this cat, Curt Hennig, backs up everything he says. And he says he’s better. You may spout out ‘it’s true, it’s true’, but Kurt, I’m too good to be true. See you tonight!”

::COMMERCIAL BREAK::

Mark Henry vs. R-Killa

R-Killa backs off. Mark Henry doesn’t know what to make of R-Killa backing off and looking for a truce, which allows Killa to get in some cheap shots. R-Killa hits some more punches then leaps off the ropes with a flying clothesline, only to bounce right off Henry. Henry hits R-Killa with a massive headbutt that sends him flying into he corner. Henry misses the avalanche splash though, and R-Killa quickly jumps to the outside. He grabs a hidden baseball bat and smashes Henry in the knee with it, drawing a quick DQ!

Winner: Mark Henry via DQ in 0:48

R-Killa
continues to smash Mark Henry’s knee with the baseball bat. Henry’s knee is up against the ringpost and R-Killa wails away with swing after swing. Booker T comes down and when R-Killa sees him he grabs a microphone…and jumps into the crowd.

R-Killa: “Yeah, I knew you’d come! Mr. Softee right on time! Can I have some sprinkles?! Booker, Booker, while you are out here helping this fat ass I want you to know somethin’! I want you to do somethin’! This Thursday, check out RISE! I got a message for you Softee!”

Booker T looks angrily at R-Killa as he and Stevie Ray help Mark Henry to his feet and to the back. Henry’s knee is clearly injured as he can barely put any weight on it whatsoever.

***

Don West:
“Wow Mike Tenay, this R-Killa kid, he’s obsessed with Booker T! I can’t believe what he just did to Mark Henry.”

Mike Tenay: “These two were just tag team partners, even champions, not too long ago! Well anyway Don, we have to keep going. Coming up next, it’s time for some extreme. The ECW World Television Championship is on the line as two ECW and WCW mainstays, Rey Mysterio Jr. and Eddie Guerrero go at it!”

ECW World Television Championship
Rey Mysterio Jr. © vs. Eddie Guerrero

Eddie yells at Rey, telling him that the ECW Title is “his title”. Eddie swings and misses and Rey goes on the attack with punches! Side headlock from Rey but Eddie sends him off the ropes. Rey leapfrogs over Eddie and goes for a springboard moonsault, but Eddie catches him…only for Rey to counter into an armdrag! Eddie hits the ropes and Rey leapfrogs him again, followed by a monkey flip that sends Guerrero flying into the ropes! Dropkick sends Eddie over the top rope and onto the floor! Rey hits the ropes and fakes a somersault dive and lands on the apron, but this allows Eddie to pull Rey off the ropes and throw him into the barricade! Eddie slams Rey into the steel steps. Eddie chokes Rey with a television cord before setting him up for a suplex…but instead dropping Rey stomach first onto the steel steps!

Eddie rolls Rey back into the ring and brings a chair with him. Eddie bashes Rey in the back with the chair…clearly going for a more brutal approach than last Thursday night! Another hard shot to the back with the chair! Eddie picks Rey up and hits a belly-to-back suplex and covers, 1…2…Rey kicks out. Eddie locks Rey in the Gory Guerrero Special! Rey refuses to submit, but Eddie has it in locked good. Rey starts to fight out, but Eddie starts spinning Rey around and hits a wild spinning neckbreaker! Eddie takes the edge of the chair and hits Rey in the back again! Lasso In El Paso now locked in and Rey’s in big trouble! Rey screams in pain as Eddie tries to force the submission. Rey grabs a rope, and despite this being an ECW match referee Mike Kehner counts and forced Eddie to break. Rey crawls onto the apron and Eddie looks to suplex him back in, but Rey counters and suplexes Eddie onto the floor!

Rey waits for Eddie to get to his feet and goes for a springboard Asai Moonsault...only Eddie ducks away and Rey splats onto the floor! Eddie rolls Rey back into the ring and covers, 1…2…Rey just kicks out and Eddie can’t believe that one! Eddie takes the chair again, but Eddie misses the shot and Rey hits a spinning heel kick into the chair that slams off Eddie’s face! Eddie retreats back into the corner and Rey sets up the chair. Rey leaps off the chair and catches Eddie with a hurricanrana out of the corner! Rey gets a floatover that nearly leads to another hurricanrana, but Eddie counters that into a powerbomb! Eddie doesn’t follow up with a cover and instead heads to the top rope. Frog Splash misses but Eddie rolls though, but Rey was ready for him and throws the chair in his face! Eddie ends up on the ropes, perfectly positioned for Rey to hit the 6-1-9! Rey comes off the apron with a springboard hurricanrana, 1…2…3!

Winner: Rey Mysterio Jr. via pinfall in 10:05

Rey
grabs the ECW TV Title and celebrates up the ramp as Eddie Guerrero can’t believe that Rey got him again!

::COMMERCIAL BREAK::

The Giant vs. Sean O’Haire

O’Haire shows no fear and stands face-to-face with Giant. O’Haire shoves Giant, and Giant shoves him hard into the corner. Giant misses a charge and O’Haire goes to work with punches and forearms. O’Haire tries to slam The Giant out of the corner, but Giant counters with a big elbow to the side of the head. Giant tosses O’Haire into the corner and chops away, finishing him with a massive chop heard around the arena! Big headbutt sends O’Haire flying across the ring! O’Haire backs up into the corner and The Giant is on him, driving a knee into the midsection. Giant whips O’Haire into the opposite corner, but O’Haire gets his feet up on a Giant charge! O’Haire comes off the ropes and clotheslines the Giant, but the Giant doesn’t go down. O’Haire tries another one, but again the Giant stays on his feet. O’Haire tries one more time, but Giant knocks him down with a huge boot…just as The Outsiders hit the ring and attack, causing the DQ!

Winner: The Giant by via DQ in 2:31

Scott Hall, Kevin Nash
and Sean O’Haire pound away on The Giant when Diamond Dallas Page runs down with a chair and cleans house! DDP doesn’t hit any chair shots but the NWO has left running! The Giant accepts DDP’s hand as DDP helps him back to his feet!

***

Backstage, Kevin Kelly is with Eric Bischoff.

Kevin Kelly: Eric, can you give us…”

Eric Bischoff: Eric? Let’s get this right it’s Mr. Bischoff.”

Kevin Kelly: Mr. Bischoff can you give us an account of what just happened out there?”

Eric Bischoff: “Out there? Well you see Shane McMahon just had to start making up issues that didn’t exist. Sean O’Haire and Roddy Piper had a personal vendetta that Sean settled last week. That’s all there is to it. This whole idea of punishing him to face The Giant? Did you think we were going to let that slide? Of course not. We had that taken care of NWO style until Diamond Dallas Page went nuts out there swinging chairs. Look Kelly. It may have taken turns no one was expecting, but let’s get this straight. The NWO will take over WCW one way or another. DDP, Giant, Angle, all those guys, they’re fighting a losing battle. When Triple H is ready and he vanquishes The Giant on August 5th, on Nitro. That’ll be the beginning of the end of WCW. Well I lied. When Curt Hennig beats Kurt Angle tonight, that’s really the beginning of the end. Or maybe it was Slamboree. I lose track. Anyway, Triple H will be back soon. And it’ll be all over from there!”

***

Test vs. William Regal (w/Fit Finlay)

Regal attacks Test as Test was posing to the crowd. Regal hits Test with forearms and shots to the face. Test fires back and hits Regal with a short-arm clothesline. Test sends Regal into the turnbuckle and backdrops him out! Gutwrench powerbomb plants Regal! Cover, 1…2…Regal kicks out. Test kicks Regal in the corner then sends him into the opposite corner. When he charges in though Regal moves and Test rams himself right into the ringpost shoulder-first. Regal kicks the arm to the point where the referee has to hold him back…allowing Finlay to slam Test’s arm on the apron. Vertical suplex from Regal. Cover, 1…2…Test kicks out. Regal continues to pound away on the injured shoulder. Test fires back, but Regal gets a knee to the midsection and locks in an armbar.

Regal goes back to striking the shoulder before tying up Test in the ropes. Regal punches away at Test before again referee Teddy Long holds him back, allowing Finlay to take more cheap shots. Test fights off Finlay, and Test catches a charging Regal with a stun gun across the top rope. Test hits Regal with a Pumphandle Slam! Cover, 1…2…Regal kicks out. Test prepares the Big Boot, but Finlay gets on the apron to stop him. Test slugs Finlay off the apron, but Finlay threw something into the ring! Regal picks the item up…brass knuckles…and swings, but Test blocks! Test pulls the brass knuckles off Regal’s hand, but Regal quickly elbows the injured shoulder again. Regal quickly locks Test in the Regal Stretch, and the pain in the shoulder is too much, forcing Test so submit!

Winner: William Regal via submission in 6:32

As Test gets back to his feet, Regal punches him with the brass knuckles, busting Test wide open! Regal and Finlay leave, with Regal looking awfully proud of himself.

::COMMERCIAL BREAK::

We come back to Nitro with The Giant getting ready to leave in his, well, it looks like rental bus. Suddenly, Sean O’Haire, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall attack with baseball bats! Giant tries to fight them off, but Nash and Hall target the knee, keeping him down. O’Haire has a garbage can and it about to slam it over Giant’s head when Diamond Dallas Page appears and stops him! Just as suddenly, Christian jumps DDP and lays him out with a shot from the US title belt! Christian runs off as O’Haire, Nash and Hall continue their beat-down until security arrives!

***

Mike Tenay:
“What the heck was Christian doing there? Has Christian joined the New World Order?!”

Don West: “I don’t know Mike, but wow what a beat down from The Outsiders and Sean O’Haire.”

Mike Tenay:
“I hope we’ll get some information about the status of The Giant and DDP. We have out main event next as you see the cage coming down. It’s pin, submission or escape rules, Kurt Angle against the NWO's Curt Hennig."

Steel Cage Match
Curt Hennig (w/Alexis Laree) vs. Kurt Angle

Angle and Hennig come face-to-face in the middle of the ring. Hennig slaps Angle and Angle takes him down immediately! Angle hits Hennig with punch after punch after punch until Hennig is able to get away. Hennig gets a side headlock but Angle sends him off the ropes and hip tosses him with ease! Angle traps Hennig in the corner and punches away. Hennig reverses the Irish whip and sends Angle hard into the corner and follows up with a body slam. Hennig is the first to attempt to climb out of the cage, but Angle quickly pulls him back down. Hennig puts up some resistance, so Angle pulls hard and Hennig comes flying down onto the canvas. Hennig staggers to his feet, but Angle gets a hard clothesline and Hennig bounces off the cage. Hennig stumbles right back to Angle and Angle hits a belly-to-belly suplex.

Angle looks at the door, but decides he wants to deliver a little more punishment. He hits Hennig with some punches, but Hennig looks like he was playing a little possum. Angle gets a full head of steam off the ropes and Hennig sidesteps him, sending him face-first into the steel! Hennig sends Angle into the steel again, then kicks Angle’s leg out from under him. Hennig hits the ropes and grabs a sleeper. Hennig takes Angle down with the sleeper before Angle shows some signs of life trying to survive. Angle gets to his feet, but Hennig lets him go and blatantly kicks him low! As Angle writhes in pain Hennig does a cartwheel to show-off to the crowd. Angle gets back to a sitting position, but Hennig hits him with a perfect somersault cutter, snapping the neck. Hennig sends Angle hard into the corner. Angle stumbles out and Hennig boots him…and follows up with the Hennig-Plex! 1…2…Angle just kicks out!

Hennig quickly runs to the door, but Angle grabs the ankle. Hennig kicks Angle away and punches him into the corner. Hard knife-edge chops stun Angle. Hennig snapmares Angle out of the corner, then climbs up the corner to try to escape the cage. Angle tries to stop him, but Hennig kicks him away. Hennig continues to climb but Angle is quickly back up and belly-to-belly suplexes Hennig off the top rope! Angle grabs Hennig and goes for the Angle Slam, but Hennig lands on his feet and shoves Angle right into the steel wall of the cage! Hennig climbs the side of the cage, looking to escape, but Angle, now busted open, finds a way to grab Hennig’s tights. Angle kicks the top rope and Hennig falls and crotches himself on the top rope! Angle climbs up onto Hennig…and hits an Angle Slam off the ropes! Angle decides to climb out to win, but Sean O’Haire runs down to the ring and climbs to meet Angle. Angle and O’Haire trade shots up on top of the cage, and Angle punches O’Haire to the point that O’Haire gives up and drops back to the floor. Angle looks at the crowd…and climbs all the way to the very top of the cage…and hits Hennig with a moonsault off the top!

Don West:

Kurt Angle

ECW RISE
July 18, 2002
Macon Coliseum
Macon, GA

ECW RISE
comes on the air to R-Killa, somewhere in a dark parking lot. Based on the street signs, we aren’t in Macon, but in New York City.

R-Killa: Booker T for years you claimed to own these streets. But you don’t really know anything about Harlem. Hey look, I’m from North Carolina, and even I know more about these streets than you do. Man, you and I did the same dance. We both did the time. But for some reason you came out here every night pretending you were from the mean streets of New York City, right here in Harlem. I don’t pretend anything. Booker T I have one goal and that’s to expose you as a phony! As a fake! You hide your past and pretend to be something you ain’t. Just like me you were born down here in the South. You ain’t no New Yorker. Booker I invite you to ECW Anarchy Rulz. They gonna be wrestling in the Meadowlands, in New Jersey. But I’m gonna be right here on 110th street and 1st Avenue. East Harlem. New York City. You take me out, I’m gone for good. But I’m gonna show everyone who you really are…sucka!”

Joey Styles: “Hello everyone and welcome to RISE, Tazz, did you see what R-Killa just said?”

Tazz: “That’s a crazy challenge Joey. I’m from the Red Hook section of Brooklyn, but man East Harlem is no joke. If Booker shows up that’s gonna be a hell of a fight.”

Joey Styles:
“Here comes, I think the term we’re using is Commissioner…here comes Mick!

***

“FOLEY!”

“FOLEY!”
“FOLEY!”

“FOLEY!”

Mick Foley:
“Thank you, thank you, it’s great to be back here in MACON, GEORGIA! Boy, I hope the cheap pops play well in ECW. We have some business to take care of as in just17 days, ECW will present, live on Pay-Per-View, Anarchy Rulz. With a name like Anarchy Rulz, that’s a high standard to reach. We already have R-Killa challenging people to actual street fights so I can already promise it’s going to be one hell of a show. We have some championship matches to figure out here so let’s get to it. First, the…”

Commissioner Foley is interrupted by “One of a Kind” as Rob Van Dam makes his way down to the ring.

“ROB VAN DAM!”
“ROB VAN DAM!”
“ROB VAN DAM!”

“ROB VAN DAM!”

RVD
takes in the crowd, before showing Mick Foley that he has them in the palm of his hand as he does his taunt…

“ROB!”
“VAN!”
“DAM!”

Mick Foley:
“I gotta say Rob, the people really seem to like you here in ECW. So what can I do for you?”

Rob Van Dam: “Well Mick, I gotta say I was talking to Stephanie McMahon last week, and I need to know, do you have a problem with me?”

Mick Foley: “I barely even know you Rob. All I know really is what I’ve seen on TV. And I have to say I’m a fan! Hey where’s my man Fonzie?”

Rob Van Dam: Fonzie’s taking some time. Let’s get back on track though Mick. So you’re a fan. So what the hell? I asked Stephanie McMahon for a shot, a rematch at Eddie Guerrero for the ECW World Television Championship…and I got told the new guy didn’t think I deserve a shot. Mick, I just don’t get it. Hey, I’m happy for Rey, but I want my belt back.”

Mick Foley: “I see. Well, yes Rob, I am a big fan. But I’m disappointed that you’re here asking for an ECW TV title match. You already knew the answer. But I’m going to say it again and I’m going to make my reasoning clear. Rob Van Dam, you will not get another shot at the ECW World Television Championship because Rob, you do not deserve it!”

The fans don’t like that one! RVD gets in Foley’s face, completely surprised that Foley just said that.

Rob Van Dam: “I don’t deserve it? Really Mick. What…”

Mick Foley: Rob, listen to me. You don’t deserve an ECW World Television Championship match…because you deserve better!

Joey Styles: “Better?!”

Tazz:
“Uh-oh!”

Mick Foley: Rob Van Dam, you need stop settling. You are one of the most talented athletes I’ve ever seen in this ring. In my opinion you were screwed at Starrcade and you’ve yet to get your one-on-one rematch from that debacle. Rob Van Dam, if you accept the fact that it’s time for you to move up and on…you will challenge ECW World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar at Anarchy Rulz! Rob, do you accept?”

Before Rob Van Dam can answer, ECW World Champion Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman make their way to the ring.

Paul Heyman: “Wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute! This is outrageous! This is nuts! What has Rob Van Dam done to get a title shot?”

Mick Foley: “What has he done? How about carrying ECW on his back for the last four years? How about being the one man who has pinned your man Brock Lesnar in that very ring…”

Paul Heyman: “It was a tag match!”

Mick Foley: “All you’ve done Paul when you were in power was steal opportunity after opportunity from Rob. Well it’s not going to happen anymore!”

Paul Heyman: “Steal? Let’s talk about stealing. You’ve stolen everything from me Mick. ECW was MY baby. You’re a fraud Mick. You left ECW like the rest!”

Mick Foley: “What you’ve done over the last few months has been nothing more than a disservice to ECW! Brock Lesnar, you are one of the toughest men I’ve ever been in the ring with. But Paul, Rob Van Dam has always been not only the future of ECW, but the present! He just needs a fair shot, and I’m going to give it to him! Prove me wrong Paul. Prove me wrong Brock! Because it’s not just Brock Lesnar vs. Rob Van Dam. Because if that’s it, then there’s Shelton Benjamin. Then there’s CW Anderson. Then there’s you Paul. No more. Rob Van Dam will get his clear, fair shot that he’s deserved for years. At Anarchy Rulz, it will be a steel cage match…and to ensure that the two men in the ring stay in the ring and everyone else stays out…the top of the cage will be wrapped with barbed wire!

Surprisingly, the reaction from Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar isn’t one of shock or fear…but laughter!

Mick Foley: “I must be missing the joke.”

Paul Heyman: “You want to lock this monster, in a steel cage wrapped with barbed wire…and you’re expecting us to be scared? You just signed the death sentence for Rob Van Dam’s career. Rob, think about your friend! Think about Sabu! Look what happened to him!”

Rob Van Dam: “Yeah, right. Mick, I accept. Brock, I’m gonna kick your ass and win the ECW World Championship. And since you’re here right now, I say lets get started!"

Rob Van Dam tackles Lesnar as the two go at it! RVD and Lesnar roll around the ring punching at one another (and knocking down Heyman!). Mick Foley tries to break them up before officials come from the back to try to separate them as well!

::COMMERCIAL BREAK::

We return to RISE with Mick Foley telling Rob Van Dam to take the rest of the night off and start preparing for the ECW World Title Match at Anarchy Rulz. RVD thanks Mick and leaves.

Justin Credible
makes his way down to the ring, with someone under a hood accompanying him in a NWO shirt.

Justin Credible (w/masked man) vs. Mike Awesome

Awesome looks suspicious of the masked man standing at ringside. Credible attacks, hitting Awesome with punches and kicks. Credible sends Awesome into the corner, but Awesome leaps up to the top rope and hits Credible with a flying back elbow! Awesome punches at Credible in the corner, but Awesome misses a charge. Credible hits a flurry of punches to the head, which staggers Awesome momentarily. Credible gets a little cocky but is quickly leveled by an Awesome clothesline! Credible rolls to the outside and Awesome stalks him around the ring. Credible hides behind the masked man, and Awesome yells at him telling him “he’s next”. Awesome rolls back into the ring and Credible pounds away on Awesome. Awesome shoves Credible away, but Credible quickly follows up with a superkick! Awesome stays on his feet as the masked man tosses Credible his kendo stick. Credible cracks Awesome right in the nose with it, seemingly busting open the previously broken nose of Awesome…but Awesome doesn’t seem to care! Awesome levels Credible again with a massive clothesline. Awesome drags Credible to the corner and climbs, picking Credible up and planting him with an Awesome Bomb off the top rope! 1…2…3!

Winner: Mike Awesome via pinfall in 4:03

As soon as Awesome gets the pin on Justin Credible, Awesome gets up and gets hit with the Roaring Elbow from the masked man! The elbow completely busts Awesome’s nose with blood splattering everywhere. To no one’s surprise, the mask comes off and it’s Masato Tanaka!

Joey Styles:
“Why the hell is Masato Tanaka of all people wearing NWO colors?!”

Tazz: “Man Joey how much are they paying these NWO Japan guys?”

Joey Styles:
Tanaka is one of Mike Awesome’s greatest rivals, it looks like Triple H broke the bank again!”

Chris Candido runs down to check on Mike Awesome. Awesome gets back to his feet, bloodied…and angry.

***

Backstage we see Commissioner Mick Foley watching a monitor.

Mick Foley: “Right, the NWO thing. I forgot those guys were still around.”

World Women’s Championship
Jazz © vs. Victoria (w/Daffney)

Jazz slaps Victoria before punching away at her. Jazz gets a front facelock but Victoria fights out of it. Jazz grabs a garbage can from under the ring, but Daffney nails her with the lid from that garbage can! Daffney pounds away on Jazz on the outside before Jazz shoves her away. Victoria baseball slides the garbage can in Jazz’s face! Victoria orders Daffney to set up a table on the outside as Victoria rolls Jazz back into the ring. Victoria his a drop toehold that sends Jazz into the ropes. Victoria grabs a crutch that was inside the can and hits Jazz in the throat with the end of it. Jazz creates space by hitting Victoria with a kick, then running her down with a clothesline. Jazz heads to the outside to try to recover, and runs over Daffney as well. Jazz puts Daffney on the table.

Jazz grabs two steel chairs and brings them into the ring. Jazz sets up one chair and forces Victoria to sit in it, then takes the other chair and misses a wild swing as Victoria moved out of the way. Victoria grabs the second chair and her and Jazz go dueling chairs, before Daffney climbs up to the apron and grabs Jazz’s chair. Jazz tries to get the chair back, but gets hit in the back with the other chair by Victoria! Jazz falls to the outside and lands on the table, to which Daffney climbs to the second rope…and sentons Jazz through the table on the floor! Victoria rolls Jazz back into he ring and sets her up…Widow’s Peak! 1…2…3!

Winner: Victoria via pinfall in 5:57 (New Champion)

Joey Styles:
“We…we have a new champion Tazz!

Tazz:
“Wow, another title change on RISE!

Victoria celebrates with the title…but interestingly she doesn’t help Daffney up at all as she heads up the ramp. As Daffney gets back up from the table wreckage, she seems surprised that Victoria has already walked up the ramp without her!

::COMMERCIAL BREAK::

Joey Styles:
“Our main event is a weird one, even for ECW partner. Kanyon takes on the new World Cruiserweight Champion Tajiri and Malice in a handicap match. If he wins, his alter ego, Mortis, will get any match he wants with Raven.”

Tazz:
“Are we sure Kanyon and Mortis are one in the same? After The Great American Bash, I don’t even know how Mortis could be walking around. It may be a different guy!”

Joey Styles: “Just how many chairshots to the head did you take in your career…”

If Kanyon Wins, Mortis Gets Any Match He Wants With Raven, If Tajiri and Malice Win, Mortis Never Returns
Kanyon vs. Tajiri and Malice

Tajiri and Malice pound away on Kanyon, playing the numbers game right away. Kanyon fights back, hitting both Tajiri and Malice with haymakers. Kanyon tries a back suplex to Tajiri, but Tajiri lands on his feet and kicks Kanyon in the midsection. Tajiri sends Kanton off the ropes and Malice hits him with a big boot. Malice covers, 1…2…Kanyon kicks out. Malice goes for another big boot, but he misses and crotches himself on the top rope. Tajiri goes for a dropkick but Kanyon ducks and Tajiri ends up dropkicking Malice to the floor. Kanyon tries to take advantage, but Tajiri catches him with a high kick that staggers him. Tajiri heads to the top rope, but Kanyon stops him with a punch. Kanyon climbs up to the second rope and puts Tajiri on his back and hits a samoan drop off the second rope! Cover, 1…2…Malice slides in and bashes Kanyon with a chair, breaking up the count.

Malice puts the chair on the canvas and chokeslams Kanyon on it! Big elbowdrop from Malice. Cover, 1…2…Kanyon just kicks out. Malice holds Kanyon up as Tajiri springboards off the ropes and hits him with a flying back elbow. Malice holds Kanyon up again and it looks like Tajiri is going to finish him off with Super Crazy runs down to the ring and attacks Tajiri! Mikey Whipwreck runs down to counter Super Crazy’s interference and Tajiri is able to knock Crazy out of the ring. Tajiri turns his attention back to Kanyon, but the Green Mist missed Kanyon and hits Malice! Tajiri hits the ropes but Crazy pulls it down, sending Tajiri flying over the top rope! A wild Malice clothesline attempt is countered into the Flatliner! Kanyon covers Malice, 1…2…3!

Winner: Kanyon when he pinned Malice in 6:13

Raven
comes out of the entrance way. Whipwreck, Tajiri and Crazy have fought through the crowd, leaving Raven to stare down at the ring with Kanyon. Raven, mic in hand, walks down to the ring and gets in Kanyon’s face, who’s still recovering.

Raven: “So what’s it going to be Kanyon?”

Malice actually gets to his feet first, but in his frustration Raven boots Malice and plants him with the Evenflow DDT. Kanyon starts laughing maniacally, confusing and angering Raven.

Raven: “I don’t care who you pretend to be at this point. Whatever the match is, I promise you Kanyon, Mortis, whatever, that it will be your eternal end.”

Kanyon grabs the microphone from Raven

Kanyon: HAHAHAHA…you sure about that one buddy? Because the big man, oh, he knows what he wants to do you! There will be no end Raven. No last rites, no funeral. Because to finish you Raven, you need to be alert and awake. He wants you to fear for the rest of your life. And you know how he’s going to do that to you?! HAHAHAHA!”

Raven: “What? How? What is wrong with you?”

Kanyon: HA..HA…he’s…he’s…HAHA…he’s gonna bury you alive! HAHAHAHA!”

Joey Styles: “Oh My God!”

Fear clearly comes over Raven’s face as he hears Kanyon say “bury you alive”. Raven boots Kanyon and plants him next to Malice with another Evenflow DDT…but as he walks off, Kanyon, who has the microphone next to his mouth as he lies on the canvas…still can’t stop laughing…

Kanyon: HAHA…HAHAHAHA!”

Pretty eventful episode of ECW. RVD getting another stab at the ECW title definitely makes sense. At some point someone has to beat Lesnar so he can move on to perhaps bigger things like maybe the WCW title scene, unless the plan is to build towards a WCW vs. ECW champion scenario. But I could see RVD being the one to pull it off, but not sure it'll happen. Should be fun though.

Always gonna be happy with Mike Awesome killing Justin Credible. But Masato Tanaka coming in as a member of nWo Japan is pretty awesome and a nice call back.

Been quite a few surprising title changes on TV lately, and Jazz dropping the title may have been the biggest surprise. But her and Daffney have been an entertaining pairing so I'm all for it.

Kanyon and Raven continue to be a highlight of the BTB so this was another interesting development for that saga. Buried alive match is certainly a huge match for them to have the chance to showcase.

Always a fun and easy read, RDT.

Just read the last couple of shows and as always it is a great and easy read with great storytelling. Your whole concept is so good and allows you to tell unique stories that we never got to see but in another world, we may have.

-The Angle moonsault off the top of the cage is always going to be an epic spot and something I love. Angle is my all-time favourite wrestler so you can't book him badly in my eyes.

-I am really enjoying the Mysterio vs. Guerrero series and I hope it goes on for some time yet as they add the in-ring quality that the shows may lack in other areas.

-I'm enjoying your take on the nWo and the different people involved and it seems like it is only going to expand even further.

-Victoria as the new Women's Champion was fine with me although it was essentially a Handicap match :lol Feels like she is feuding with her partner sooner rather than later after the ending.

-Lesnar vs. RVD was set up really nicely and I think that will be a superb main event for Anarchy Rulez, I think you might go with a title change.

-I'm also loving R Killa, I just think he's an awesome character and I'm on his side even though I shouldn't be haha.

Great work as always my friend, I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in the next few shows.

Scott Hudson
: “Hello everyone, Scott Hudson here with Mike Tenay. We have Disco Inferno, Alex Wright and Brian Christopher in the ring.”

Mike Tenay: “
Last week Disco and Wright attacked Elix Skipper after Skipper rolled up Disco for the win! Shane Helms, not the Hurricane, but Shane Helms ran down and made the save. This was interesting considering that Helms had trouble in several matches against Skipper. But here they come now to take on Disco and Wright.”

***

Disco Inferno
: “Wait, wait, wait. Listen. Shane. I want you to think about something. Last week you came out here not minding your own business. Afterwards me and Alex hooked up with the Grandmaster and we came up with something. Shane, you should be with us! We know your resume, you used to do the dancing to the Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears so we know you can do it. Come on, forget this Elix Skipper guy. It’s “Sugar Shane” right? Come on man!”

Shane Helms thinks about the offer, before leaving Elix Skipper’s side and walking over to Disco! Helms shakes Disco and Alex Wright’s hands…before pulling in Wright with a short-arm clothesline!

Alex Wright and Disco Inferno (w/Brian Christopher) vs. Elix Skipper and Shane Helms

Cover from Skipper, 1…2…Disco Inferno runs in and stomps away at Skipper, breaking up the pin. Wright sneaks up from behind Skipper and hits a German suplex, then tags in Disco.

Disco heads to the second rope and gives the crowd a little dance, but misses the flying forearm. Skipper ducks a Disco clothesline by doing a back handstand, then comes back up and catches Disco with a hook kick! A dazed Disco walks right into a belly-to-back suplex from Skipper! Skipper tags in Helms. Skipper sets Helms up for a suplex and gordbusters him onto Disco! 1…2…Wright comes in and we have a four way brawl! Wright and Disco get the upperhand for a moment, but when they try to whip Helms and Skipper into one another, Helms leapfrogs over Skipper! Helms hits Disco with a clothesline and then a bulldog out of the corner, and Skipper hits Wright with the Play of the Day (Overdrive)! Helms and Skipper then show off a new move on Disco, as Helms lifts Disco up in a wheelbarrow and Skipper hits a Rocker Dropper on the way back down! Helms covers Disco, 1…2…3!

Winners: Shane Helms and Elix Skipper when Helms pinned Disco in 7:47

Mike Tenay
: “I understand they call that the AST, the All-Star Takedown!”

::COMMERCIAL BREAK::

Scott Hudson
: “Mike, this Monday on Nitro, we have a big match for the United States Championship! Christian defends against Diamond Dallas Page!

Mike Tenay: “
Surprisingly Christian helped the Outsiders attack The Giant and DDP. We haven’t gotten word if Christian has joined the NWO or not, but that certainly seemed like that came out of nowhere. We will be seeing Christian in action later today. But first, an angry William Regal is in action against the monstrous Barbarian.”

Barbarian shoves Regal into the corner and holds him in place, but Regal slips in a European uppercut. Big slam from Barbarian, but he misses the follow-up elbow drop. Double underhook suplex from Regal. Barbarian powers out of a side headlock and hits Regal with a boot to the face. Barbarian presses Regal over his head, but Finlay trips Barbarian and Regal lands on top of him, 1…2…Barbarian kicks out. Regal violently punches the back of Barbarian’s neck and tries to lock in the Regal Stretch, but Barbarian won’t let it happen. Barbarian and Regal get back to their feet and Barbarian hits some punches, but misses a clothesline and Regal catches him with am arm-trap neckbreaker. This time the Regal Stretch is locked in…and even the mighty Barbarian has no choice but to surrender.

Winner: William Regal by submission in 3:49

::COMMERCIAL BREAK::

A staggered Christian walks right into the flapjack! Cover, 1…2…Christian just kicks out! Morrus presses Christian over his head again and this time finishes by slamming him! Morrus heads to the top rope for the No Laughing Matter Moonsault…but Christian moves out of the way and Morrus crashes to the canvas. Morrus is dazed as he gets back to his feet, and Christian plants him with the Unprettier. 1…2…3.

Winner: Christian via pinfall in 5:52

Christian
celebrates with his US title…then knocks Morrus back down with it for good measure. Christian looks like he’s going to nail Morrus a second time…but Diamond Dallas Page hits the ring and catches Christian with a Diamond Cutter! DDP grabs the US title belt…and says “I’m taking this back on Nitro!

We cut backstage to Marc Lloyd with United States Champion Christian.

Marc Lloyd:
Marc Lloyd here with United States Champion Christian. Christian, can you explain your actions last week…”

Christian: “Who the heck are you? Nevermind, it doesn’t matter. Look, I owed the NWO one when Sean O’Haire took out Roddy Piper. And I never liked that smug Diamond Dallas Page anyway.”

Marc Lloyd: “So, are you joining the NWO?

Christian: “That’s all you people care about. NWO this, NWO that. How come no one has asked me about being the longest reigning WCW title holder at the moment? This is WCW we’re wrestling in right? Anyway, DDP’s just going to become another statistic tonight, another loss to the most dominant US Champion in WCW history, Christian! Hey Marc, let me ask you something. What has 30 teeth and an IQ of about 80?”

Marc Lloyd: “Who?”

Christian: “The entire front row of the McKenzie Arena here in Chatanooga!”

Christian walks off laughing at his own joke as Marc Lloyd shakes his head.

::COMMERCIAL BREAK::

As we return to Nitro, we are in the presence of The Giant.

The Giant: “You know I said this about five years ago and I didn’t think it would ever matter again. But man, I’ve had it up to my throat with the NWO. Nash, Hall, ha, and hell, of all people Hunter. You’d think Hunter would know better. When I returned to WCW at Starrcade last year I wanted one thing, the WCW World Championship. That’s it. I didn’t care who had it. I didn’t care who I had to break to get it. At first it looked like Austin. I was ready for that. Flair? I beat him the for the title once before. Angle barely survived with his life at Souled Out. And now Hunter. I wouldn’t care about any of this NWO stuff except Hunter’s got the belt. So NWO, all of you. The new ones. The vets. I want you all to think really hard about crossing me. Think about the feeling of your body breaking as I lift you 10 feet in the air and smash you to the canvas. Think about it. Think long and hard. As got Dallas, hey, you knew I was always in it for the belt. But you didn’t complain when I pinned you to get this title shot, and you had my back last week. So I owe you one. Just remember, all of you, friend or for, I’m in it for the belt. And I will break anyone in my way.”

cuts to Booker T, who’s walking in a park somewhere.

Booker T: “You know this whole thing with R-Killa, all this talking about toughness and who’s from where. Man, R-Killa don’t know nuthin’ about me. Nothin! He came out here, tried to make a name for himself at my expense. That’s all he did. I’m cool with that, hey, everyone needs to make their own path. But all the personal stuff man. This man has been a thorn in my side for months now. He’s attacked my brother. He’s attacked me. He’s cost me matches. He’s cost me titles. And frankly I’m completely sick of him. He went out last week on the ECW show, on RISE. Again he attacked my character, my culture, WHO I AM! And that’s enough for me. I’ve had enough. You want to go out to the streets of Harlem and fight. Then you gonna get what you want. And I’m gonna kick your punk ass all throughout every part of New York City! And then after that I never want to see or hear R-Killa ever. Now dig that. Sucka.”

Marc Lloyd: Marc Lloyd once again here with Diamond Dallas Page.”

Diamond Dallas Page: “Hey Stacy,, look, we got a new guy here. Anyway look, I heard the Giant earlier tonight and I get it, he’s his own man. But you know me and the big guy, we’ve had to fight this road together to have any shot at taking down these NWO scum. That’s the path to the title. Now last week, for some reason, Christian got involved in my business dealings with the NWO. I don’t know why, but he’s gotta get punished for that. And unfortunately for him, that’s gonna cost him his own belt tonight. I’ve held that belt before, I know what it takes, and I’m gonna hold it again. Hey, you did this to yourself Christian. And if the NWO wants to get involved, just remember, the man with the plan is always me, D-D-P!

Eric Bischoff:
“Ladies and gentlemen. For everyone watching I am here to provide an update in regards to Triple H’s health and subsequently status for his world title defense against The Giant in two weeks. It will be a close call, but the determined, fighting champion will be ready to face off with The Giant on August 4th. While there will be a question of whether or not Triple H will be 100% by the title defense date, he has guaranteed that he will defeat The Giant regardless. Now while I could exasperate all legal challenges to give my client more time to recover and prepare, he has insisted that being a fighting champion is what is important to him. With that being said, Triple H has also promised to be at Nitro next week to address the live audience. Make sure to tune in, and good night everybody.”

ECW RISE
July 25, 2002
Huntington Civic Arena
Huntington, WV

Mike Awesome:
“Fuckin’ Masato Tanaka. I’ve had my nose broken three times in the last few months by this NWO Japan. But man you? You if anyone should know better. I’m gonna finish the job I started in ECW three years ago. You broke my nose? Well I’m gonna break your fuckin’ neck. I don’t care how many bombs I gotta drop to make it happen! Masato Tanaka, Anarchy Rulz. Let’s fuckin’ go!”

Joey Styles: “Hello everyone and welcome to ECW RISE! Tonight, we have a special main event. It’s international warfare for the ECW World Television Championship, Rey Mysterio Jr. defends against NWO Japan’s The Great Muta!

Tazz: “That’s the former champ Joey! These are the kind of matches that you only see on ECW RISE!

Joey Styles:
“Also, we will hear from Paul Heyman, who now is the official representative for ECW World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar…and for well, that’s R-Killa in the crowd Tazz?”

***

R-Killa
comes down to the ring via the crowd, microphone in hand, a garbage can full of weapons in the other.

R-Killa: “Yo you all watch last Monday Night? Booker T grew a set and accepted my challenge! I gotta say I didn’t think he was gonna do it! And now that he’s manned up, I just got this to say. Booker you in trouble dawg. So I hope you’re watching because I have another challenge to give out. I’m in an ECW ring! One of you ECW tough guys out there, I want to fight! I’ve got the weapons! Come on, anyone who wants a piece, anyone who wants to shut me up, let’s fight!”

R-Killa waits, but there’s no answer.

R-Killa: “Come on! This is ECW right. Why no one want to fight? Why…”

Dr. Dre’s “Natural Born Killaz” plays…and the ECW crowd pops huge!

Joey Styles: R-Killa might not make it to Anarchy Rulz! It’s the original Gangsta New Jack!

New Jack runs down to the ring with a shopping cart full of weapons himself! He tosses it in the ring and here we go!

::COMMERCIAL BREAK::

We return to ECW RISE in a cemetery. When the camera zooms out, we see Raven standing in front of a grave.

Raven: “Death comes to all, it is a fact of life. It is a journey we must take, with no strife. It comes without warning, with no invite. But at Anarchy Rulz, it will come from our fight. Death brings sadness, grief and pain. It is a feeling that lingers and continues to strain. But it also brings closure and peace, especially when I defeat you and your existence comes to cease. I will continue to live with all my might, embracing each day and each night. But for you death will come, as that is the inevitable result of war. Quote the Raven…nevermore!”

***

We cut to the arena, where Eddie Guerrero has walked into Commissioner Foley’s office.

Eddie Guerrero: Mick, come on, you gotta help me. I can’t not be in a title match on the ECW Pay-Per-View!

Mick Foley: “Look I’m an Eddie Guerrero fan, believe me, but the champions are locked up. I’ve got a big opponent for Muta or Rey lined up, and the world title match is pretty set in stone. I don’t know what’s happening with the Cruiserweight title…”

Eddie Guerrero: “You’ve gotta be kidding me! I’m Eddie Guerrero! I…”

Mick Foley: “Okay okay okay okay I got it. I’m trying to make this month’s Hardcore TV show a good one. How about this. We’re gonna have a #1 Contender’s Match for the World Tag Team Title with Eddie Guerrero in it.”

Eddie Guerrero: “Me and Chavito? Ok…ok, so who’s ass we gotta kick to get the title shot?”

Mick Foley: “Ho ho, I think you’ll like this one. You and, uh, Chavito is it? Hey, that’s two Guerreros. Los Guerreros! I just got that!”

Eddie Guerrero: Los Guerreros against who?”

Mick Foley: The Eliminators!

Eddie seems a bit concerned, but shakes his head as he sees a path to a title match at Anarchy Rulz.

Tazz: The Eliminators, Joey? Oh man!”

Joey Styles: “We haven’t seen John Kronus since Hardcore Heaven!”

Tazz:
“Don’t forget Joey, Eddie and Saturn, there’s history there too!”

***

Paul Heyman
and ECW World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar make their way to the ring.

Paul Heyman: “I am here to correct some of the inaccuracies that have been floating around the internet over the past week. First of all, I have always been and even would say, currently am, a Rob Van Dam fan. Oh how soon people forget, I made Rob Van Dam! I gave Rob Van Dam a platform to perform for a national audience in featured matches. I didn’t bring him in as Robbie V or some kickboxer. He was Rob Van Dam and I had to mold this guy into a star. And I did. But there’s a difference between a star and a money making champion like Brock Lesnar! I think Rob Van Dam really needs to take the time to think about what he’s getting himself into at Anarchy Rulz. A Barbed Wire Steel Cage match against Brock Lesnar? That’s a career ender no matter how much confidence he may have. Rob, you could be the greatest Television Champion of all-time. Hell, you probably are the greatest Television Champion of all-time already! You could be a five-time or ten-time TV Champion! But Rob, you enter that cage on August 4th and that’s it. That’s the end of Rob Van Dam. Look at what Brock Lesnar has accomplished this year alone. He tamed the “Beast From the East” Bam Bam Bigelow! He destroyed your friend Sabu in his own element! You see that announcer over there! Tazz? He beat Tazz because he could, and he allowed Tazz to survive, not the other way around! Rob there’s still time. Take the night off. I’m sure Mick Foley will find a way to use you as a star, but you aren’t World Championship material Rob. Don’t make Brock Lesnar tear you apart to prove that point. Come on Brock, let’s go.”

Tazz: He didn’t need to bring me up Joey.”

Joey Styles:
Tazz, I know that’s gotta sting. But he’s right…hey, it’s Rob Van Dam!

Rob Van Dam has run in from the crowd and jumps up to the top rope, and nails Brock Lesnar with a flying jump kick! RVD punches away at Lesnar as Commissioner Foley sends referees and officials down to break them up. RVD busts Lesnar’s mouth open with one of the punches. RVD backs up and puts up all five fingers, indicating how many days until Anarchy Rulz! Lesnar is furious and throws chairs around ringside as RISE cuts to commercial.

Joey Styles: “
Just who is going to stop Victoria? Anyway, a quick run down as we are just eight days away from Anarchy Rulz, emanating from Swamp Land, New Jersey! Moments from now you will see a tag team match between one of the all-time great tag teams in ECW history, The Eliminators, against Eddie and Chavo Guerrero Jr., a.k.a. Los Guerreros. The winning team will face ECW World Tag Team Champions Jerry Lynn and AJ Styles at Anarchy Rulz. Let’s talk about the rest of the show. We have two ECW vs. NWO Japan matches set. Nine days ago on RISE we saw Masato Tanaka return to ECW in an NWO Japan t-shirt as he broke the nose of long-time rival Mike Awesome. Tanaka will face Awesome and Awesome has promised to break the neck of Tanaka! But that’s not all, as Lance Storm returned two nights ago to extract revenge on The Great Muta for misting Dawn Marie several weeks ago! Storm will face Muta. Sabu made his return at the end of RISE two nights ago right here in Huntington. He has challenged Rey Mysterio Jr. for the ECW World Television Championship and I understand that Commissioner Mick Foley has made that match official! ! Now remember, this is more than extreme, this is anarchy! Three matches that certainly push the limits of even ECW are signed for Anarchy Rulz. In a match where one man must bury the other, long-time rivals Mortis and Raven will finally end their war. Let’s not forget the ECW match debut of Booker T, as he and R-Killa plan to beat the hell out of one another somewhere on 110th street in Harlem, New York City! And of course, the ECW World Championship is on the line in a Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match as ECW World Champion Brock Lesnar defends against Rob Van Dam! All this and more in just eight nights on Pay-Per-View!”

Really nice shows from you here.

Interesting to see you unmask La Felina here - I seem to remember Gail Kim once said she hated working masked.

WCW Monday Night Nitro
July 29, 2002
MCI Center
Washington, D.C.

Triple H
is backstage with the New World Order. HHH is still in his wheelchair.

Triple H: “Tonight, I bestow upon you all an important job. There’s a Ten-Man Tag Team Match tonight. Tonight, we bring in NWO Japan to work with us to finish off the job that I started. You see next week I am slated to defend my World Title against The Giant. Now, I will be ready for that, but the way me, Shawn and Eric see things, we shouldn’t even give The Giant the chance. Tonight, in the ten-man tag, we want the Giant taken out! That’s the job. Get it done!”

The NWO leaves, leaving just HHH, Eric Bischoff and Shawn Michaels.

Triple H: “This is bull Eric. I went through a 40 minute Triple Cage Match with Steve Austin a few weeks ago. That match probably took years off my life. And less than a month later I have to fight The Giant?”

Eric Bischoff: “I know, I know. They’ll get the job done tonight, Hunter.”

Triple H: “They better!”

Mike Tenay: “Welcome everyone to Nitro! Mike Tenay with Don West and Don, we have a huge ten man tag team match tonight!

Don West: “Oh Michael I am pumped. One side has Total Impact, Diamond Dallas Page and The Giant, while the NWO is firing back with The Outsiders, Sean O’Haire, The Great Muta and Masato Tanaka! Plus that means we probably get to see Stacy and Alexis too!”

Mike Tenay:
“Last week we saw Billy Kidman defeat Rene Dupree, that’s got him another shot at the WCW United States Championship, and that’s happening now!”

This Sunday at Anarchy Rulz I’m really concerned that someone’s getting hurt in the Harlem Street Fight. I’m sure we will check-in with Booker T and Stevie Ray later tonight. Total Impact
stands together backstage…

Chris Candido: “You know, I’ve been back for two months. Two months! And I’m already sick of the NWO. Now some of these guys, they’re new to me. Sean O’Haire, I don’t know a thing about you, but I know that this man right here, Mike Awesome, can take you out anytime, any place! Then of course there guys I’ve been dealing with my whole career. Nash, Hall, you guys always knew I could run circles around you in that ring, so you never let me get the chance! But hey, now I have my chance, and just so have it, at least tonight, I’ve got a Giant on my team! Trust me I’ve been waiting for this day for a long time! And man, I mean come on. Justin Credible? Lance, you really were desperate for a tag partner after I left, huh?”

Lance Storm: “Hey, mistakes were made. Look what else these guys got. They had to go international to hang with us. Let’s make something perfectly clear.
