Lakeshore Entertainment is developing an Underworld reboot after four entries in the vampires vs. werewolves series. According to THR, Cory Goodman will write the script. In March, Bloody Disgusting reported Screen Gems had commissioned a new Underworld movie titled Underworld: Next Generation with Len Wiseman producing. Given the subtitle, the report speculated the new direction could focus on Eve, the vampire/werewolf hybrid daughter of Selene (Kate Beckinsale) and Michael (Scott Speedman). Beckinsale informed us in 2012, “I think it’s probably unlikely that I’ll do [another Underworld sequel] but they may do one without me.â€￾

It’s too early to say where exactly the Underworld franchise is heading next, but fans of the series should rest assured a new Underworld movie is likely on the way. Hit the jump to revisit the first Underworld trailer.

Official Underworld synopsis:

In the Underworld, Vampires are a secret clan of modern aristocratic sophisticates whose mortal enemies are the Lycans (werewolves), a shrewd gang of street thugs who prowl the city’s underbelly. No one knows the origin of their bitter blood feud, but the balance of power between them turns even bloodier when a beautiful young Vampire warrior and a newly-turned Lycan with a mysterious past fall in love. Kate Beckinsale and Scott Speedman star in this modern-day, action-packed tale of ruthless intrigue and forbidden passion all set against the dazzling backdrop of a timeless, Gothic metropolis.

We don't need a reboot of this.

We never needed this sorry excuse for a franchise. I'll never understand what people see in these movies.

I loved the first one and felt underwhelmed with the sequels although I watched them. The idea alone intrigued me.

The world really does not need more Underworld movies. Did any of the sequels really do great critically or financially? I was a fan of Priest but I'm pretty sure that didn't do well either so I can't see Cory Goodman writing getting anyone interested in the future of a sad franchise.
