Taker was such a huge star back then though. In addition, I believe this was the very first Undertaker return. So it was a pretty huge deal that added some importance on the card.

Besides that and the 5 star Owen/Bret, the card also had some quality undercard matches in Diesel vs Razor Ramon and Alundra Blayze vs Bull Nakano. The match wasn't special, but Tatanka vs Lex Luger was another major match on the card. Looking back, it's just a shame 1-2-3 Kid wasn't booked for the card. Kid vs Jarrett had a couple of really good short matches earlier in the summer. That would have been so much better than Jarrett vs Mabel.

I've never been an enormous fan of the drafts because I felt it divided the company too much, but however, the closest thing to a draft I did like was back during the Invasion angle. I really enjoyed seeing some of the WCW and ECW wrestlers team up to try and overthrow the WWE. The unfortunate thing about this was most of these wrestlers were mere pawns for the angle and the WWE did not have any long term plans for them. The invasion angle was really the only "draft" idea I really liked. I did like when Eric Bischoff and Stephanie McMahon were general managers of Raw and Smackdown because it was a Raw versus. Smackdown angle. The stealing of superstars and the invading of the shows. It was a storyline well done.

A couple of other pretty big things happened in WWE on this day in history. First up, The Big Event, held at Toronto's CNE Grounds in 1986, featured WWE's highest attendance (74,000 est.) to date. The second-annual Summerslam, featuring a great match between Rick Rude and Ultimate Warrior, also took place today, way back in 1989.

Well let's see what we got for you today in WWE History.

We have a few Summerslam's again, one in 1993 and another in 1998

The one in 1993 took place from Auburn Hills, Michigan. The Main Event of the Card was Lex Luger vs Yokozuna for the Heavyweight Title. The Card also saw matches like Shawn Michaels vs Mr. Perfect, and Razor Ramon vs Ted DiBiase.

Now let's just to 1998 and take a look at what this one had to offer, the Main Event of the evening was Stone Cold vs Undertaker for the Heavyweight Title, Triple H vs Rocky Maivia in a Ladder Match for the Intercontinental Title, Ken Shamrock vs Own Hart in a Lion's Den Match, X-Pac vs Jeff Jarrett in a Hair vs Hair Match.


But now something not about Summerslam, we go to 2007 where WWE had a BIG day for the Wellness Policy with TEN stars being suspended. WWE didn't at that time let out the names of who they suspended from this but following that, but that list has since been let out and here's the ten

Now this was only part of a BIGGER issue, because they all was linked to the same Signature Pharmacy in Orlando, where a few other wrestlers had gone also, now some of them was no longer with us at the time, but we won't name them. Needless to say this was a pretty big issue to have ten of the members of the roster all suspended at the same time, even if some of them was already out with an injury.

Seem's I was a year off from where they had there not so important PPV's so yeah Summerslam would work since they didn't have a small PPV to put it on, and I've heard great things about that match with Bret and Owen, I need to look for it one day and see what how great it is honestly. But I might just skip out on the Undertaker match if it wasn't all that great.
