Not gonna pretend like I was a TNA fan or anything even though I watched it for a brief period of time, but I thought the general perception at the time they ditched the TNA name was that it was a good rebrand? I'm kinda surprised to see how overwhelmingly positive the change back has been received

I don’t necessarily think anthem thought impact wrestling was a good rebrand. They just didn’t like the TNA name for whatever reason. I mean even anthem immediately tried to re-brand to GFW I want to say four or five months later, because even they thought impact wrestling sounded goofy.

Scott D’Amore also wasn’t there at the time that it was dropped. Another thing I just realized today was Scott was actually just promoted to the overall president of the company in March. So it sounds to me if he was planning on making this announcement originally in June that was probably the very first thing he immediately tried to do was get anthem to let him change the name back he’s clearly been wanting to for a while.

Impact is a good name for a show, not a company. Comes down to that for me personally

I'm not saying them inparticular but I was always under the impression that people disliked the TNA branding because of 'Titts n Ass' and thought Impact Wrestling was more suitable and professional sounding.

Same.

I actually think impact is actually one of the better names for a show. I just don’t see why you throw wrestling after it. Just let it be TNA impact.

Some people, sure, but I don’t think it was a large percentage of anyone that actually watched TNA.

I don't think as many people are going to go out of their way to say "I like the acronym of this company" as those that don't like it would go out of their way to say that they don't like it.

People who complained about tits and ass name and other non-booking reasons were generally people who didn't actually watch TNA. imo ofc

Basically, I think it was just a loud minority situation. People who thought it was a bad acronym made a point to bring it up. Most people didn't actually care though.

in fact the vast majority of people that I know who used to watch it did not like the name Impact. fans still chant TNA every show.

100%.

that’s like the lol TNa comment from earlier. Most of the people that said that were people that weren’t watching anyway.

This. Again.

I’ll be honest I was the biggest TNA hard-core guy until forever and I even continued watching after they re-branded the show to impact wrestling. But it lost its magic and I watched until I wanna say 2014 but it just wasn’t the same. They still had TNA name on its belts and the pay-per-views, but it was just so weird that they tried so hard to avoid saying TNA on the television show.

that one was a bit different but yes it was mostly used by other people who didn't watch it to mock tna every time they did something dumb. and they did legitimately do a lot of dumb things. But I think MOST of the loltna usage was during the really bad years where tna wasnt even tna anymore and was a complete joke - similar to the WHAT IS *insert flipped letters of first and last name of wrestler* doing in the impact zone meme.
