I mean I guess it depends on you define things. You could easily make the case the US is an empire. We have territories everywhere and bases on every continent.

Well, American Imperialism is alive and well, so yeah, The United States is definitely an Empire, but not in the traditional sense.

The Iraq War and the Afghanistan War may be the two defining conflicts of America in the 21st Century, and both were entirely needless like Vietnam, and it had arguably worse results than even Vietnam.

I’d say the Afghanistan War was significantly more called for than the Vietnam War. They attacked us directly.

technically Al Queada attacked and the Taliban allowed them a safe haven. The country of Afghanistan didn't attack the US, just to be Mr Semantics
