The way they had to jump through hoops to even write these laws is so sad too. They just wanted whites and blacks to not mingle but bc the dummies forgot other races existed they kept having to make exceptions to not seem flat out against black people

That’s what I’m saying. Not most, but some. And yes, 39 is a lot still. I can almost bet those 39 are being chewed right now on Twitter by other politicians. And when the next primary comes around in those areas I bet you their opponents will use that the fact they voted oh yes on this as a means to try to replace them.

Nah they still wanted whites to stay white but they didn't give as much of a fuck what other races did so there wasn't "Mexicans have to marry mexicans" and Asians were just it's own issue bc there was so few of them here when the laws were written. Also Irish and Italians were a grey area at first. Racism is so dumb

Yes and no. Someone could still challenge the bill’s constitutionality and send it to the Supreme Court and they could still theoretically overturn both this bill and that other Supreme Court ruling but it’s highly unlikely.

Oh yeah I'm pretty sure like half the states still have anti-gay marriage laws just waiting to enforce if it ever gets overturned by the Supreme Court

the smart ones realize it's a losing battle, they don't actually care unless it affects then winning elections

all repubs are similar in this way. they were all pro trump till he lost a midterm. theyd shoot their mothers to win elections, look how ted cruz treats his kids

Agreed. I doubt they’d even hear the case.

As I said before in this thread, this law has far more precedent in its foundation than abortion did. There’s no real legal reason why it would legal to discriminate based on sexual orientation in a matter already deemed legal.

I don’t even think someone will try, but if they do, I expect 5-4 to rule against even taking the case to a hearing.
