Every Democrat politician I know refuses to stand on a term limit. There is zero compromise on that issue.

The second amendment is like the first. It doesn’t actually exist if you continue to put limits on it.

It says “shall not be infringed” for a reason.

What does Amendment mean btw

I mean, the precedent (before the Supreme Court decides to abolish it), has literally always been like 13 weeks or so.
Which would also be fine. I might go just a couple more weeks or so, but yeah.

I was specifically talking about myself, and I know others who feel the same way as well. Just like I’ve known some Republicans who are cool with banning AR-15s. They exist, yeah maybe they are rare, but they are out there.
I’m talking specifically politicians. If you run and say you’d allow a 15-week abortion limit, which is where I’d personally draw the line, that politician loses.

Personally, I differ from a lot of conservatives and you from liberals, but as a politician, you have to run on what the majority of your constituents want.

The United States Constitution's Bill of Rights are not set completely in stone though. Though it's difficult, it is entirely possible for Amendments to be overturned, for example, the 18th Amendment being overturned by the 21st Amendment.

Again, it's not impossible, just extremely difficult.

It means you can make a further amendment. If you have 2/3rds of the congress or 4/5ths states.

That’s not likely to happen.

I love to believe if The Founding Fathers knew some of the guns we would have today, they probably wouldn’t be for the avg American having it. Like when it was wrote, we was so far away from the stuff we have now. They didn’t know we have guns that could kill a shit ton of folks in the matter of seconds or minutes. Cause I can tell you, I don’t think one person kills to many folks with the guns they had back then.

I understand how that works.

Most politicians aren’t talking about amendment changes. They mean bills.

I seriously doubt the US ever has the overwhelming majority for an amendment that overturns the second.

there was already a medical limit on abortions and no one actually got abortions later than that outside medical reasons. stop pushing the 15 week shit as some sort of compromise. it was already how it was and its just more excuse making. things were literally perfectly fine the way they were before the war on women the GOP trigger. stop painting like democrats are being unreasonable on the abortion issue when they the status quo was already perfectly reasonable

Fair enough. They probably do. It kinda sucks because sometimes things don’t need to be wide fucking open like that.

I don’t know his whole platform, but no, I wouldn’t vote for a politician planning to ban guns.

If you want to tell me his whole platform, I’ll tell what I think on each, but what I meant was, if his platform is moderate as I assume you’re suggesting, all he’d have to do is renounce his gun stance and he’s probably win Texas or anywhere else. Texas is probably the most extreme red state, right?

but seriously, why do you guys actually care about the founding fathers more than just doing whats best right now for society? I feel like its just a myriad of bullshit excuses to not do the right thing. No one has seemed to explain this to me outside of giving a long winded history lesson, but the fact of the matter is no one thats alive right now lived in that era so to an outsider, it really just seems like stroking off a big old nostalgia cock you werent even there to see erect
