Not a great start, one guy who is mid-carder at best, and the other past his best.

lmao, this is Young's first real shot at the main event isn't it? He's doing damn fine.

Still don't get why MVP has to be in this match though. Should have been Roode in my opinion.

Yeah its his first shot, but the fact that he has been there so long and only ever been used in tags or mid-card comedy roles up til now just says than that is where he belongs.

Edge anyone? It took him 7 years to win a world title. Took EY 10, that's not much of a difference. What about JBL? It took him 9. I'm not disagreeing that EY seems out of place, but that's not the logic you should use.

Difference is Edge always looked like he could be a main eventer. JBL I still maintain was not good enough as a headliner.

Don't think anyone had any thoughts of Edge main eventing until he split from Christian, but I'll give you that one even though some people could now just say "I think EY looks like a main eventer" because your argument wasn't his look, but his past.

JBL's heel run was amazing, Smackdown was just shit at the time.

JBL was good in that role, but the character itself was mid-carder material IMO. Also his promos got very repetive.

Atleast JBL and Edge had a build towards winning the title, poor EY was just hotshotted in one night. Does that ever do anyone favors? He should've had a gradual climb that took months, not just winning a battle royal and belt in one fucking night.

Terrible logic to go by, really is. The fact that he worked so damn long to get where he is now is a testament as to why he should be there. He took everything that TNA has ever given him and ran with it. I personally think he's great at everything he does. I hope he retains here and has a nice run as champ.

Then by that logic WWE should just give Santino the title with no buildup whatsoever.

I have no beef with the thought of making Eric Young a maineventer, the lack of build is what I have a problem with, this should've been months of work and not a one day thing. He was a Knockouts champ ffs, he was ODBs bitch ffs. That's the problem.

I agree with this completely. I just don't like Keith's logic of "He was never a main eventer before so he shouldn't be now"

I am going to do my best politician now and say that I phased it wrong:adr:. I just meant than Young has shown just the sort of skills for the spot on card that TNA placed him, and IMO he has never had it to be a main eventer. Not saying than sometimes people can't progress from mid-card to main event I just don't see Young as one of those cases.

Anyone can be placed high on the card, it doesn't cost a desperate company anything by experimenting with new guys, WWE made Miz a top guy for five minutes and it didn't cost them anything. If you don't experiment with the recipe when it's proven not to be working, then why the fuck you still in business?

Well TNA are heading for the scrape heap anyway so it maybe doesn't make so much difference to them at this point, but it can to a company with more to lose. All I am saying is that I don't think Young is or has ever been cut out for the main event, that's not even a knock on him, many can't do the sort of comic mid-card roles he has done so well for years.
