I think saying that most WWE fans are barely aware of TNA is an insault to WWE fans, basically like suggesting that they are mindless zombies who know nothing about wrestling outside of that.

Van Dam wasn't that over in WWE either, he had his moments, but that is a very long time ago. I blame him more for his TNA run bombing than the the company.
RVD wasn't that over? The guy was in the alliance and getting face pops out this world. He was well over when he first went for the title but trips refused to drop it to him. Likewise there has never been a reign with the IC title where he wasnt over, nor were his tag team title runs with Booker, Kane, and Rey not over. He's was over from the point he walked in at invasion vs Jeff Hardy, the only over guy at the Survivor Series 01 for the bad guys including Austin and Angle. Plus he was so over they resurrected a brand behind him as the central piece. Hell the whole damn Payback ppv saw RVD chants in every match following his one minute video.

If you say he can't wrestle well, ok. Say he throws sloppy kicks, ok he's always done that. Say he's a walking weed violation, as he could have been the third star of e movie How High with Redman and Method Man. But saying Rob Van Dam has ever been not over in wwe is blasphemy.

And its not an insult when you hear guys like Booker, Nash, Rob, Jeff, Christian all say they've been asked so what were you doing for however many years they were in TNA. Hell Sting if he wanted to work wm30 could just say he hasn't wrestled since the last Nitro.

And at some point if you have Hogan, Sting, RVD, Jeff Hardy, Foley, Booker, Nash, Angle, Christian, Matt, The Dudley's, Bischoff, The New Age Outlaws, Jarrett, and you can't break a 1.1 on Spike TV which covers more households than SyFy or Ion its on the company

But that was back in 2001 over ten years ago. I agree with you that WWF dropped the ball with him, but then when they gave him the ball finally he screwed himself. Would say about 2007 was the last time the guy really had anything to offer.

I will just say never underestimate a guy wanting to go out the right way and on the big stage. There's a lot to gain from RVD trying, an anthology DVD, merch money, HOF spot, regular TV time, ppv money, and big crowds to be a showman too. I don't think he's as good as he once was but I'd bet money he's better than his TNA run

RVD was still a top star when he left, got a massive reaction when he returned for a Rumble. He will get good reactions no matter what year it is. And Kurt Angle says he gets stopped at airports and asked when he is coming back to wrestling. TNA fans need to accept that, that company is no bogger than ROH in the minds of rasslin fans who don't go online.

Couldn't get the vid to embed on the iPad but for all the he will work like Brock guys via pwpix:

Rob Van Dam was interviewed recently by Arda Ocal about his return to World Wrestling Entertainment. RVD noted that his new schedule would likely resemble Chris Jericho's, although it remains to be completely ironed out. He stated that they're taking his schedule "baby steps at a time." He also said that he's hoping that this will be a successful run.

RVD said the reason that he hasn't been with WWE over the past 6 or 7 years is because he didn't want to be there with a full time schedule. He said that he left WWE because his contract expired and the schedule burnt him out.

Also during the interview, RVD discusses which opponents he'd like to face and other various topics. Emebedded in the video below is the interview in its entirely.

That last answer just screamed at me "I don't watch the show"

The last answer was great, nice to see an honest wrestler for once. It is a smart answer as well because who wouldn't want to work with the guy that is going to bring him the most money rather than choosing a guy that he will have fun matches with but won't draw.

I agree, the last answer was very well played from Van Dam. Reminds me when Lesnar had a similar answer about the UFC several years ago.

He came across ok, don't buy that the only reason he wasn't in WWE before was because it was his choice. Hasn't lost that ego I see...

Like I he put the guy right on the main event thing too.

I like the last answer too, he's more humble about his priorities than most who hold that philosophy. He's looking to work with who makes him the most money this time around because he just wants it to be worth his while and, like he said, not everyone gets the chance to do big things very often. He didn't respond with the "If you can't make me money today you can fuck off" attitude I hate.

He stuck around in WWE for a year after the arrest until his contract expired. I am sure that WWE would have wanted him to stick around so I do believe him that it was his choice to leave. He always stayed on good terms with WWE as his one off appearance in the 2009 Rumble shows. Also I am pretty sure that his wife was diagnosed with cancer around the time he left WWE so it was the right time for him to take a break from the road and be with her instead.

In what world? He's never been a draw, his band has never hit it as big as fucking Cenas rap cd, his book signings and autograph sessions away from wwe are Virgil esque by his own admission, and his shows have all had the plug pulled from them.

Jericho is reliable which is what separates the two, but he just like Rob Van Dam is a B list hall of fame guy. Neither are guys like Cena, Taker, Dave, etc who draw, sell out arenas, and you put as the guy for months on end across the globe.

Jericho is just more of a darling on the Internet (not close to RVD in arenas tbh), but he's not in a different tier at all when it comes to stardom, as he's never been that great

Fozzy are decently successful in Europe.

Comparing RVD and Jericho is just wrong though. RVD has wrestled the exact same match for the last 15 years, he still cant cut a promo, he's unmotivated, just wanting a paycheck and age has slowed him down alot. Then there's his massive ego, for a guy that never amounted to much really in the grand scheme of things the way he talks about himself you'd think he's a Hogan level wrestler. "popping" the industry with his return, as if. Jericho may not be a true superstar but he's literally 100 times more talented in the ring and can still run circles around 99% of guys on the mic. He's still motivated and works hard.

People are kind of sick of Jericho's shit now though IMO, he turns up for a 3 month stop gap feud for one of WWE's top guys and puts them over, nothing new or innovative about what he's been doing either.

RVD will have the initial buzz good for a few months. Don't know why everyone is assuming he'll be the spotmonkey of the MITB though, guy hasn't been an athletic highflyer type for about a decade. Bryan will most likely be doing the big spots in the match.
