That promo by Hero was lalz. The Roaring Elbow!! (I think its called that..) anyways.. Jerry Lynn as ROH champ is kinda bad, but I think they can pull it off with a "We have a Strong Champ" but even stronger Challengers...

I called it, but 3 months a little too late. If ROH was going to do this, I think now was too late to pull the trigger, IMO. I don't want to go into the whole "Next World Champ" BS, because Lynn hasn't even had 1 day with the belt. IMO, it really doesn't matter, because there's still lots of guys that need to be built up as champ. For Black, they missed the opportunity a long time ago.

As for the show, it looked really good. They weren't trying to play to the "Wrestlemania" crowd that much.

Some more details on the three-way match. Prior to the match, Nigel came out and cut a promo stating that he wouldn't be able to wrestle today. He wished Claudio good luck, who then decided to cheap-shot Nigel.

Albright won the match with some help from Nigel which led to him Brent pinning Claudio.

Looks like its official, Nigel is a face once again.

Thats just as bad as Aries and Jacobs teaming together. Whats Pearce thinking? Why turn him face now, its he's going to be out recovering from his surgery.

Because no matter what, the fans are sure to cheer for Nigel when he returns. Besides, at least this way Nigel already has a match set-up for when he comes back.

It's hard to accurately judge these things by readng the results, however i'm going to go out a limb and say there was pretty no ZERO reason for him to turn face. He probably shook Jerry Lynn's hand, but to me there need to be some good reasoning behind heel/face turns.

I wasn't a fan of Tyler Blacks face turn at all. He didnt DO anything. He got kicked out of the AOTF by Jacobs, and we are all supposed to cheer for him now.

Then there's Austin Aries, who just decides to cheap shot Tyler Black, for no reason...After beating Tyler Black at Final Battle. Theres just not enough reasoning behind these things for me. Its like good guy today, bad guy tomorrow.

======================================================

Take no prisoners looks like a decent PPV. Lots of multiman matches, but should provide a lot of action. I like the use of legends during WM weekend, its a nice touch. Roddy with two big wins this weekend as well. Not a huge fan of the NWA guys on the show, mostly because they just slung them in there, however i havent really seen any of there matches before, so i dont really know how good they are. Looks like they had a couple great matches this weekend though.

6) Roderick Strong over Alex Koslov via submission in what was described as an "amazing" match.

 Not surprising.

Also, since when was D-Lo in ROH? And why are they using WWE/other talent in their world title matches and not using them to put over other stars? Doesn't seem too smart imo.

D'Lo first wrestled for ROH earlier in the year (Proving Ground 09). As for why they're not putting ROH talent over... No idea.

Some crazy shit going on in ROH, Nigel now a face and Jerry Lynn is the new World Champ, who's suposed to be the biggest heel in ROH now? Nigel is out and now a face so who's left? Jimmy "I can't win a match" Jacobs?

Sounds like there have been some good matches from these past two shows though, good that Roddy Strong finally got a couple of good huge wins, I'll have to DL him Vs Alex Kozlov sometime.

Jerry Lynn as Champ isn't good imo, but atleast I think we know it wasn't planned, he only got the title because of Nigel's injury, if his victory was planned, well then we could be pissed off and call it bad booking but Lynn will just be holding the belt for a while until the time is right to drop it to someone else, hopefully Strong or Hero since they deserve it most imo.

ROH on HDNet TV Tapings - April 9th, 2009, The Arena, Philadelphia, PA

RESULTS

Preshow

a) 6 man with "all jobbers I don't know".

b) Bobby Dempsey over a Ninja.

c) Japan Ninja defeats "some blonde guy".

***Attendance is estimated at 350.***

Main Show

Ric Flair was introduced as the new Ambassador for ROH. He brought out ROH champ Jerry Lynn and praised him. They talked about wrestling in 1985. Austin Aries came out and said he was the man and was the former champ and would prove tonight he was at the top of the ROH pecking order.

1. Chris Hero defeats Kenny Omega with a roaring loaded elbow. Nice short match.

2. Necro Butcher defeats Brodie Lee via some kind of roll up.

3. Erick Stevens defeats Sal Rinauro. Sounded like a squash to me.

4. Austin Aries defeats Roderick Strong with a brainbuster. Sweet match as expected. Aries goes for a handshake but Roddy chops him instead.

***Short intermission between episodes***

Second taping. Half the crowd went home. Sucks.

Colt Cabana out for a promo. Prince Nana interrupts. Colt punches Ernie Osiris and runs them off.

5. Delirious and Daizee Haze defeat Jimmy Jacobs and MsChif when Daizee Haze pins MsChif with the Mindtrick.

Nigel cuts a promo. Says he's going to heal up and return to take his title back. He also said that being ROH champion is like being with a pornstar. Everyone is jealous but you don't know how long you will last.

6. American Wolves destroy two enhancement performers. They did an in-ring promo promising to take out El Generico and Kevin Steen.

7. Bryan Danielson vs. Tyler Black. Double count out. Tyler attempts Phoenix Splash, Dragon pushes him off. CRUSHES A FAN IN THE FRONT ROW. Then Dragon flies at him, they keep preventing one another from getting back in the ring. Stupid fan throws a chair in. ARIES COMES FUMING OUT. I rat him out. Zack takes care of him.

8. Claudio Castagnoli defeats Brent Albright after a distraction by Ernie Osiris and Prince Nana led to a lowblow. Claudio goes to attack Albright with a chair stomp to the head but Colt saves him.

9. The Dark City Fight Club defeated Grizzly Redwood and Alex Sugarfoor Payne.

Ric Flair announced the first ROH title bout on HD Net will be Jerry Lynn vs. Austin Aries vs. Bryan Danielson vs. Tyler Black.

Flair then cut an awesome promo putting over Philadelphia, mentioning ECW and spouting all the classic Flair-isms. Closes with "Woo, the Ric Flair definitive collection is softcore porn for ladies."

10. Jay Briscoe defeats Sami Callihan.

11. Kevin Steen and El Generico defeat Kenny King and Rhett Titus. Good match. After the match the Wolves came out and beat down the champs. Generico takes a Doomsday cutter through a table.

Ric Flair and KENTA are announced for the return in May (29th and 30th). End of show.

:lmao @ the Flair comment.

Also, OMG @ the 4 way world title match.

These sound like some pretty good shows. That sucks about the attendance though. ROH needs to tape these shows where they can draw huge crowds like The Hammerstein or in Chicago.

I'm not so sure about the attendance. Some people had it at around 425 people at one point.

Still, looks like a pretty good show, though I'm wondering why Flair has the power to make title matches.

Also, it seems that Claudio is now a part of The Embassy.

Sometimes people say what the attendence is before the show starts...then a couple hundred more people come in. Or they don't know how to count. But who knows.
