Venturini Motorsports is excited to announce that JF Valley will join the team, piloting the No. 04 Ford for the remainder of the 2020 ARCA Menards Series season. Valley, a veteran of the series, returns to ARCA competition after previously competing for four seasons in the series. His first race with Venturini Motorsports will be at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 23rd.

Valley brings a wealth of experience and determination to the team, having previously proven himself as a steady competitor in ARCA. Now, with Venturini’s top-tier equipment, he looks to re-establish himself and make an impact alongside his new teammate, Barry Clock-Tower, who currently drives the No. 15 Ford.

JF Valley’s Statement:
"I’m beyond excited to return to ARCA and to do it with a team as strong as Venturini Motorsports. I’ve had my fair share of battles in this series before, but this is a new chapter for me. The No. 04 team has all the right pieces in place, and I’m ready to go out there and prove I still belong at this level. Charlotte is going to be a big race for me, and I can’t wait to get back behind the wheel."

Barry Clock-Tower on His New Teammate:
"Having JF join the team is awesome. He’s got a ton of experience in ARCA, and I think we’re going to push each other to be better every week. Venturini Motorsports just got even stronger, and I’m looking forward to working with him on and off the track. We’re going to make some noise this season."

Valley’s addition strengthens Venturini Motorsports as the team continues its push for race wins and the ARCA championship. Fans can watch his first race back in the series at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 23rd.

Storylines Heading into Kansas:
- Tommy Bedlam’s Momentum – After a thrilling photo-finish win at Dover, Bedlam (#77) is riding high, proving he’s a legitimate title contender. Can he go back-to-back?

- Brandon Blaze’s Aggression – Blaze (#83) has been one of the most aggressive drivers this season, but has yet to reach Victory Lane. Kansas could suit his "take-no-prisoners" approach.

Kansas Speedway at a Glance:
- Kansas is a fast 1.5-mile tri-oval with progressive banking, creating multiple grooves for passing. Tire wear will be crucial, and teams must balance aggressive restarts with managing long-run speed.

Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval
1280px-Charlotte_Motor_Speedway_Roval_2024.svg.png

108 laps (Stage 1–2: 30 laps; Stage 3: 48 laps)

Race Preview & Build-Up

The NASCAR Truck Series heads to the Charlotte Roval, marking the first road course race of the season. This technical, high-speed circuit combines portions of the Charlotte Motor Speedway oval with a tight and twisty infield section, making it one of the most unique challenges on the calendar.

With elevation changes, heavy braking zones, and slick chicanes, drivers will need precision, patience, and a strong road course skill set to come out on top. Mistakes will be costly, as the Roval’s tight layout leaves little room for error. Expect tire strategy and fuel mileage to play a crucial role.

xxJDt8m.png

Stage 1 Recap

- The first stage of the Charlotte Roval race kicks off under cloudy skies and cool temperatures. The drivers are ready for a challenge as they navigate the tricky infield road course and high-speed oval sections. The shorter layout of the Roval tests drivers’ patience, skill, and precision early on.

Lap 1
- The green flag waves, and Brett Moffitt takes the lead off the start. He looks dominant, showing excellent control through the winding infield turns. Arthur D'Tea and Chris Southern are closely behind, looking strong early.

Lap 10
- Brandon Blaze and Logan Slayer make early moves, gaining positions as they navigate the road course corners. Blaze, particularly, looks confident in the handling of his truck through the tight sections.

Lap 20
- Juice Millar makes a bold move on Tommy Bedlam, pulling ahead in the key chicane. Meanwhile, Bobby Rey is staying steady, picking up a few spots as the race starts to unfold.

Lap 25
- The first caution comes out as Ben Rhodes spins into the grass after a lock-up heading into Turn 1. He slides off the track but keeps it under control, avoiding major damage.

HcO7OOE.png

Stage 2 Recap
Lap 31

- The restart after Stage 1 is intense, with Arthur D'Tea and Chris Southern swapping positions early. Both are looking strong, playing it cool through the twisty sections, while Juice Millar and Brandon Blaze work their way up the field.

Lap 45
- Brett Moffitt is still fighting hard at the front, but Brandon Blaze makes a late dive on the inside going into Turn 5, trying to get around Moffitt. Blaze misjudges the corner and taps Moffitt’s rear, sending Moffitt spinning into the grass.

Lap 51
- Moffitt’s tire explodes after the spin, likely caused by contact from the wreck. He’s forced to retire from the race with a devastating mechanical issue, ending his chance at a potential win. This puts Blaze in hot water, as many believe the contact was his fault. The caution flag waves as Moffitt is out of the race, with his team scrambling to assess the damage.

Lap 58
- The field is shuffled as teams and drivers begin to take stock of the incident. Brandon Blaze feels the pressure as he faces criticism from his peers, but he pushes forward. Arthur D'Tea stays calm, maintaining his position in the top 5.

d9NZ5cn.png

Stage 3 Recap

Lap 61
- The green flag drops to start the final stage, and Arthur D'Tea gets off to a strong start, holding onto his lead. Chris Southern closely follows, and Brandon Blaze is also quick, despite the earlier collision incident.

Lap 70
- Juice Millar and Logan Slayer begin to work together, drafting down the backstretch and making moves through the infield section. Blaze is aggressive, showing he wants to make up for his earlier misjudgment.

Lap 75
- Bobby Rey gets into a heated battle with Zane Smith for the 5th position. Both are showing impressive skills, taking advantage of every passing opportunity, but Rey keeps his composure to fend off the challenge.

Lap 80
- Arthur D'Tea starts to pull away, leading a one-two punch of road-course specialists with Chris Southern staying close behind. The two drivers are making clean, quick work through the technical sections of the course.

Lap 85
- Brandon Blaze falls off the pace, clearly struggling with handling after his earlier contact with Moffitt. He tries to maintain his position but is losing grip and starts dropping down the leaderboard.

Lap 90
- The final pit stops are underway, and strategy plays a big role as drivers prepare for the final push. D'Tea and Southern stay on top with fast pit stops, while Juice Millar and Logan Slayer go for a more aggressive fuel strategy.

Lap 94
- Chris Southern makes a move on Arthur D'Tea for the lead in a thrilling pass, showcasing his skill in the oval section. Juice Millar also moves up, ready to make a late charge.

Lap 102
- The intensity rises as the final laps are ticking down. Bobby Rey and Zane Smith are still in the hunt for top-five positions, while Blaze fights to regain ground in the middle of the pack. Southern and D'Tea continue their battle for the win, with only a few laps to go.

Lap 108
- Chris Southern manages to hold off Arthur D'Tea and takes the victory in a dramatic finish. Both drivers finish strong, but Southern’s performance over the final laps edges out D'Tea in the closing moments.

Chris Southern’s First Career Win Interview at the Charlotte Roval – May 29, 2020

After a thrilling race at the Charlotte Roval, Chris Southern secured his first career victory in the NASCAR Truck Series. Southern, driving the 7-Eleven McAnally-Hilgemann Toyota, held off Arthur D'Tea in a dramatic finish to take the win.

Here's the post-race interview:

Reporter: "Chris, first of all, congratulations! This is a huge win for you and the team. How does it feel to grab your first career victory, especially on a road course like this?"

Chris Southern: "It feels incredible. Honestly, I’m a little speechless. I’ve been working so hard, and this moment has been a long time coming. We’ve been building up to this, and to finally get it done here at the Charlotte Roval, of all places, is just unreal. The team did a fantastic job today, especially my crew. We got the car dialed in just right, and it showed in the final laps."

Reporter: "You made it look easy, especially in the final laps when Arthur D'Tea was really pushing you. What was going through your mind when you had to hold him off?"

Chris Southern: "Arthur was strong all day. I knew he was going to be right there at the end, and I had to focus. You can't let your guard down for a second at a road course, and we were able to stay focused and keep our speed. The last few laps were really about minimizing mistakes, making sure I hit my braking zones, and keeping the car under me. It’s all about the little things, and that’s what won it for us today."

Reporter: "This win has to mean a lot to you, especially considering that this is your first career victory. But it's also a huge milestone for McAnally-Hilgemann Racing and the 7-Eleven team. What does this win mean to you and your team?"

Chris Southern: "This win is for the entire crew. Everyone on this team works so hard, and they deserve this. We’ve been grinding it out week after week, and to finally see it pay off like this is amazing. Huge thanks to 7-Eleven for believing in me and to McAnally-Hilgemann Racing for giving me the opportunity to be behind the wheel. This is just the beginning for us. We’ll take this momentum and keep pushing forward. I know there’s a lot more to come!"

Reporter: "You’ve now got a road-course win under your belt. What’s next for you and the team as you head into the rest of the season?"

Chris Southern: "We’ve proven we can win on any type of track, and that’s something we’re really proud of. Next up, we’ve got more short tracks and intermediate tracks, and I’m feeling confident. We’ve got the speed, and we’re ready to go out and get more wins. This victory gives us a lot of confidence for the rest of the season."

Reporter: "Once again, congratulations, Chris. Enjoy this victory and the celebration with your team!"

Chris Southern:
"Thank you! It’s been an awesome journey so far, and we’re just getting started!"

Southern’s first win was a milestone moment not just for him, but for the 7-Eleven McAnally-Hilgemann Toyota team. With this victory, Chris Southern has cemented himself as one to watch as the season moves forward!

Post-Race Comments:
Brandon Blaze (#83): “This is a huge win for me and the entire team. We’ve been working hard all season, and I knew this was a track where we could make an impact. I can’t thank my team enough, especially the crew, who gave me a truck that was fast all day long. It feels great to get that second win!”

Tommy Bedlam (#77): “We had a great truck, and I thought we had a good shot at it, but Brandon was just too strong there at the end. I’ll take second, but we’ll keep pushing and look ahead to the next race.”

Logan Slayer (#40): “It was a tough battle, and I really thought we had something for the win. Unfortunately, we didn’t have enough to chase down Brandon. But we’ll keep fighting and hope to come out on top next time.”

Post-Race Interview with Al Niece (Team Owner of Niece Motorsports)

Interviewer: "Al, congratulations on a fantastic result for Niece Motorsports today with Brandon Blaze taking his second win of the season. How do you feel about his performance?"

Al Niece: "Thank you! It’s been incredible to watch Brandon and Bobby [Rey] both really start to show what they’re capable of. Brandon, in particular, has been amazing all season. He’s showing that he’s not just here to make up the numbers – he’s a real contender. This is his second win, and we couldn’t be prouder of how he’s stepped up for the team."

Interviewer: "Bobby Rey has also been impressive, securing solid finishes. What’s it like having two rookies showing so much promise?"

Al Niece: "It’s fantastic. We knew we had something special when we brought both of these guys on board, but seeing them perform like they have is something else. It’s a testament to their talent and the hard work our entire team has put in. It’s great to see them work together, pushing each other, and we’re excited about the future. We’re confident that Niece Motorsports is in a great place going forward."

Interviewer: "What are your expectations moving forward, especially with both rookies in the playoffs race?"

Al Niece: "We’re taking it one race at a time, but we’re definitely aiming for those playoff spots. With how the season has gone so far, I’m excited for what’s to come. Both Brandon and Bobby have the potential to make a real run, and we’ll keep working hard to give them the best chance to succeed. We’ve got a great foundation, and we’re just getting started."

Interviewer: "Al, we’re hearing some exciting news about Niece Motorsports' plans for the future. Can you tell us more about the long-term project you're working on, especially with Brandon Blaze and Bobby Rey?"

Al Niece: "Absolutely. The plan is to grow Niece Motorsports into something bigger over the next few years. We’ve been working on the possibility of expanding into the Xfinity Series, and I’m proud to say that both Brandon and Bobby are making strong cases for themselves in that future. We’re hoping to run one, maybe even two cars in the Xfinity Series, and both of them are showing that they have the talent, consistency, and drive to make that step up."

Interviewer: "So you’re seeing potential in both of them? How do they fit into the long-term plans for the team?"

Al Niece: "Absolutely. Both Brandon and Bobby have been impressive in their rookie seasons. They’re not just showing potential; they’re executing under pressure and proving themselves on track. They’ve both got the kind of mentality that we want at Niece Motorsports – they’re hungry, they’re learning fast, and they’ve got the work ethic that will help them succeed in the future. They’re definitely part of our long-term vision."

Interviewer: "What kind of timetable are we looking at for possibly making the move to Xfinity?"

Al Niece: "We’re taking it step by step. We want to make sure that we have the right foundation in place before we make that move. But with how things have been going, we’re feeling confident that we’ll be ready sooner rather than later. We’ve got a great group of people in the shop, and the drivers are showing they’re ready to take on the next challenge. I think we’re closer than we might have expected to making this a reality."

Interviewer: "It sounds like exciting times ahead for Niece Motorsports. Thanks for your time, Al, and we’re looking forward to seeing where this journey takes you."

Al Niece: "Thanks! It’s a great time for the team, and we’re excited for what the future holds. We’ve got big goals, and we’re just getting started."

Chris Southern Announces Move to Supercars in 2021
In a shocking midseason announcement, Chris Southern (#20) has confirmed that he will leave McAnally-Hilgemann Racing at the end of the 2020 Truck Series season and make the move to Australia to compete in the 2021 Supercars Championship with Blanchard Racing Team in a Ford Mustang.

1200px-2024_BRT_Full_Logo_transparent.png

Chris Southern on the Move:
"I’ve always been more comfortable on road courses, and while I love the Truck Series, this is the best move for me. Racing in Supercars is something I’ve had my eye on for a while, and this opportunity with Blanchard Racing was too good to pass up."

Southern’s Strength on Road Courses:
Southern’s only career Truck Series win so far came at the Charlotte Roval, proving his ability on road courses. His move to Supercars makes sense, as the series features some of the most technical and challenging road courses in the world.

Future Implications:
- McAnally-Hilgemann Racing
will now have a vacant seat in the #20 truck for 2021.
- With Southern leaving, could the team target another road course specialist or a promising young driver?
- Blanchard Racing Team, a smaller operation in Supercars, hopes that Southern’s talent will help them rise up the ranks.

For now, Southern remains focused on finishing the Truck Series season strong before preparing for his new adventure in Australia.

Post-Race Fallout & Interviews

Brandon Blaze Makes History with Third Win of the Season!
After a dramatic finish at Chicagoland Speedway, Brandon Blaze (#83) becomes the first driver this season to reach three victories, solidifying himself as a top contender for the championship.

Blaze’s Season Wins:
✅ Daytona (Round 1)
✅ Gateway (Round 11)
✅ Chicagoland (Round 12)

Blaze’s aggressive move on Tommy Bedlam (#77) in the final laps sparked controversy, as he forcibly moved Bedlam out of the way, leading to a race-ending wreck for the #77 team. While Blaze celebrated in victory lane, Bedlam’s crew was visibly frustrated, hinting at a potential feud brewing between the two rising stars.

Brandon Blaze on the aggressive finish:
"Look, this is racing. Tommy tried to move me, and I wasn’t gonna let it happen. We’re here to win, and I did what I had to do. This Cheez-It Niece Motorsports Chevy was fast all night. I ain’t apologizing for nothing."

Championship Implications:
With three wins, Blaze now leads all drivers in victories and has essentially locked himself into the playoffs. Meanwhile, Tommy Bedlam will have to regroup after the heartbreak of being wrecked while contending for another win.

Tommy Bedlam (after getting checked at the infield care center):
"That’s how it is, huh? Blaze better watch his back. I won’t forget this one."

This sets up a heated rivalry between Blaze and Bedlam as the season nears the playoffs!
