Former WWE Superstar MVP announced that he's done wrestling for New Japan Pro Wrestling. He tweeted on Tuesday morning:

“I would like to thank New Japan for allowing me to realize a dream! I LOVE Japan & will forever be grateful! I left on good terms as always."

“I WILL return to wrestling eventually. The door is open for a return to WWE, NJPW & even TNA. However my focus now is developing my TV show."

MVP has been wrestling for New Japan since 2011 and wrestled his final match for the promotion on January 4th at the Tokyo Dome.

He also tweeted the following about his new TV project and says he's currently a free agent:

“I’m currently working on a TV project with Lionsgate TV. I’ll release more details soon. But right now I’m not affiliated with ANY company. And for the record my show has NOTHING to do with wrestling. I’m excited about it. The people at Lionsgate TV have been awesome!â€
By all accounts he left the WWE on good terms as they acknowledged his request for release because he wanted to go to Japan, so I wouldn't be too surprised if they did sign him post Mania when everything settles back down again.

I'd love to see MVP back in WWE, but I must admit I'm slightly curious as to what that TV show is going to be about. I don't think it would be a good idea for him to go to TNA right now anyway, with the A&8's thing, he'd get lost in the shuffle fast.

Wouldn't surprise me if he was on the Raw after mania, lets just hope he's back to his MR. 305 gimmick and get's treated better than Albert after 6 months.

Can't imagine theres much interest in a fat midcarder pushing 40 with a dodgy ticker.

This.

He should definitely focus on that show foremost, because he wouldn't get much of a role in WWE, when the focus is on people who can garner them attention and bringing up young talent, and TNA wouldn't know what the fuck to dowith him and go the way of the Pope tbh.

I could see him in the upper-midcard maybe, but nothing more, as mentioned the guy is almost 40, there's pretty much little, almost no chance that he will make it to the main event.

That being said, I wouldn't mind seeing him back, better here than TNA.

I was always a fan of the guy in WWE. Not sure what he would bring to the table on his second stint, but I really doubt anything would last long for him and he'd become a flat out jobber within a few months. I really think WWE missed the boat with the guy though. He was a really good midcard heel and even when he turned face and had that brief rivalry against Orton, he was getting pretty good fan reactions. I would hardly call the guy a draw, but then again he was never really given an opportunity to be one.

I really think he stands a bigger chance to land a gig in TNA, but his career would die a very slow and painful death there.

I'd love to see MVP again but I thought he was already pushing 40 by the time he left for Japan. WWE won't get many years out of him so what would be the point?

9 1/2 years inside a jail probably didn't help his case (no pun intended), either.

Had he been in prison for the full 19 years, we would not have even known the guy existed.

Thing is, majority of the cases, you know. You just know whether the guy is going to have that big moment at the top of the card when you look at them, you know whether the guy will be a legit threat one day...and with MVP that just wasn't there.

I see a guy who could talk, could wrestle his ass off, and had the "it" factor.

He seemed like the black Kennedy/Anderson who had the makings of a star, and was held back by shitty booking.

...aaaaaaaand let the butthurt begin,

Not to be a de-railer and make this into another Kennedy thread, the IWC has probably seen enough of those. Kennedy would have never made it to the top. Not because of any fault of his own, they could have handed him a push on a silver platter and he would have gotten injured and then everybody would've forgotten about him for a period of time until his return, he just didn't have stability in him (literally) for the people back there to trust him with star status.

I don't get the Kennedy analogy at all, Kennedy was a way more interesting personality than MVP.

You guys make it seem like the fact he's pushing 40 is any indication of how much he has left int he tank when he hasn't even been doing this long. Yes, the human body's physical condition starts to diminish for most people in their mid-30's, but MVP doesn't have a lot of wear-and-tear from a wrestling career since he didn't even get started with it until he was around that age. I think the longevity of his career at his age might surprise people. He's not a guy that has taken a few decades of bumps and bruises already.

I agree with Legion on this one. He could be as healthy as a healthy horse. He's also shown that he can still go considering what he's been doing in New Japan.

Kennedy being a star? Nobody has perceived him as a star since 2009. He's always been overrated and now has let himself get out of shape. MVP still works his ass off and has always been enjoyable to watch. Funny that Cork calls MVP fat, yet probably hasn't seen a picture or video of him since 2010.
