Grim are you actually playing these games or are you just doing the owner route and letting the computer take over? I'd respect a super bowl win more if the computer did it tbh bc that's way harder to do

The first preseason game I played, but the rest I'll be running with coach mode to let the Computer AI play accurately.

Is coach mode where you pick the plays? Bc that's pretty fun too even though it made me realize I probably wasn't the best playcaller

Minnesota Vikings
Season Predictions

NYpjJg_Qe9SIZOViFmcd9MxymW7iht4Yf7Pdlise1x3CdcLqaC_DV0gDJ-tc_oeF7hXDnLDf6ajZ9ftFgkRnFMqIhF72MoS3q6CRyNYPTZvSqHQBOK-4_4-1gYx8s3gSetVs_Jrc

Minnesota is stacked to the gills on defense thanks to key additions such as Mike Doss and Ethan Kelley. The blockbuster trade for Jared Allen at the 2008 NFL Draft was amongst some of the most surprising moves that Minnesota made at the draft night. Hoping to continue their success with veteran stalwarts Pat and Kevin Williams, Ben Leber, EJ Henderson, and Antoine Winfield mixed with up and coming stars Chad Greenway, Cedric Griffen, and rookie Tyrell Johnson, the Vikings are poised to become a dominant and smothering force this year.

The biggest sticking point this year will be the development of a young offense behind a new Center, a 2nd year Running Back, and a Quarterback carousel by the name of Tavaris Jackson and the returned Daunte Culpepper. Former Center Matt Birk (32 years old) was part of a major trade to Cincinnati for their own Center, the 27 year old Eric Ghiaciuc. Another addition was free agent Wide Receiver Chris Henry, still before the peak of his career and at 25, Henry has a chance to develop alongside Sidney Rice and Bernard Berrian into a powerhouse receiving trio. Adrian Peterson played excellently last year in his rookie campaign, and is looking to continue his success as one of the best young backs in the league. With a deadly running corps with Thomas Tapeh and Chester Taylor, these three could be seeing the ball a lot.

The current outlook leaves many questions still unanswered. The Quarterback carousel currently stands as the biggest question. Will Daunte Culpepper’s strong and deadly arm lead the team, or will the quick and mobile Tavaris Jackson once again take charge of the pocket? How will the new Center play under a new system and head coach. Regular season prediction currently stands at 10-6 but just missing the playoffs, the key reason being questionable QB play and failure to sustain drives on offense. The defense will keep the teams in the game, but those six losses will be almost exclusively divisional losses.

Vikings Choose Daunte Culpepper to Start for Vikings

daunte-culpepper-officially-retires.jpg

The Minnesota Vikings have decided on their starting quarterback for the 2008 season, and it is Daunte Culpepper. Culpepper had a very good showing in the preseason, especially in the fourth quarter of the Pittsburgh Steelers game, where he contributed to 24 of 28 unanswered points to dominate the Steelers 3-28. Culpepper's stats on the season were 23/33, 375 Yards, 5 Passing TD's, and an additional rushing TD off a QB sneak (in the Steelers game). Tavaris Jackson was the front-runner, getting the starting position in the middle 2 games of Preseason, but an interception in the Steelers game may have sealed his fate as the starter, despite getting more yardage and a better completion rating than Culpepper. According to head coach Brad Childress, "[Culpepper]'s a safer choice and from what we saw in preseason, he's got the much better arm. However, I won't say the carousel's over. We have confidence in Daunte to get the job done, but Jackson'll be nipping at his heels to get that starting position if things start cold this season."

Other News:
  • QB Tavaris Jackson Improves (81) to (82)
  • CB Charles Gordon Improves (77) to (78)

Regular Season Week 1:

Culpepper Throws 2 Interceptions, Vikings Lose to Packers 9-12

Green+Bay+Packers+v+Minnesota+Vikings+fMRienrjutZl.jpg

Daunte Culpepper threw only three completions and two interceptions on route to a debilitating loss in the last 30 seconds of the fourth quarter via a Mason Crosby field goal. In fact, the kickers were the only players that were perfect as this flat battle had all 21 points scored by Ryan Longwell and Crosby. Longwell went 3/3 and his farthest kick being from 50 yards, and Crosby went 4/4 with the longest from 34. Culpepper's two turnovers forced the Minnesota Vikings defense to perform early, and they did admirably against a Brian Brohm led offense. With 12 seconds left in the game, the Vikings drove down to Green Bay's 43 yard line, thanks to a clutch catch by Bernard Berrian. Using their final timeout, the Vikings were ready to attempt a staggering 60-yard field goal. However, after Green Bay made an additional timeout, Head Coach Brad Childress changed plan of action and went for a Hail Mary. It did not work.

Culpepper was blasted by media analysts for the loss, and even Fran Tarkenton, PR Representative of the owner of the Minnesota Vikings, had displayed some harsh words for Culpepper: "You were almost an MVP four years ago, and you can only throw three completions? C'mon man, you need to do more for your team!"

Brad Childress was equally blasted for the decision to forego the game-tying 60-yard field goal attempt (Longwell's longest ever made field goal was from 55, last season), in favor of the Hail Mary. He states he felt justified in the decision, "We either tied it up and had the chance to lose in overtime, or we score and get a decisive victory. I believed in Daunte every step of the way, we just couldn't put it together as a team."

Adrian Peterson looked good in the limited chances he got on offense, as he ran sixteen times for 50 yards. Nobody else came close on rushing from either team; on defense, Pat Williams, Ray Edwards, and Charles Gordon each had a sack on Brohm, and E.J. Henderson had an interception on Brohm. However, Culpepper threw an interception to Charles Woodson and Atari Bigby.

Passing:
Daunte Culpepper: 3/17, 53 Yards, 2 INTS

Rushing:
Adrian Peterson: 16, 50 Yards

Receiving:
Bernard Berrian: 1, 30 Yards
Chris Henry: 1, 15 Yards
Adrian Peterson: 1, 8 Yards

Defense:
Pat Williams: 1 Sack
Ray Edwards: 1 Sack
Charles Gordon: 1 Sack
E.J. Henderson: 1 INT
