It is true they were doing well on PPV, but it wasn’t offsetting their costs. There’s a reason he breaks his contract with Bret Hart in 1997. He legitimately couldn’t afford to pay him what they agreed to only a year ago.

Yeah the fact that he couldn’t honor contracts anymore shows how fucked they were. Nowadays he can literally give superstars whatever the fuck they ask for. Kevin Nash said he would have stayed in WWE if Vince could match what Eric offered and Vince said he couldn’t.

Their average PPVs did better than WCW, but in 1997 WCW out drew on their tent pole shows. Uncensored, Bash, Havoc and Starrcade all did better than Mania.

WCW though was a tv company and didn’t push their b show PPVs as well as they honestly should have.

More worries about getting the higher tv ratings.

Also to contribute to the whole thing. Yeah, WWE no longer builds stars, it builds moments and expects wrestlers to get over exclusively because of those moments. The moments are what they can use to advertise to Fox and USA that the big moments can happen on their network. (Brock winning the belt on Fox, Big E winning the belt on USA.) They never think of the build up to the moment or the aftermath of those moments, it’s just about the one moment.

And that’s why there are so many tag team breakups and that’s why Brock Lesnar is their biggest star because every time he shows up, it’s a moment. They definitely think that Becky only got over because she got a broken nose against Nia Jax when there actually was a lot more to it but to them, that was the moment.

WWE has to stop relying so much on the moment to get people over, that’s pretty much their entire issue. XD

Well. I gave WWE a chance. 20 years since I last watched a live WWE PPV. And it took Vince just 14 minutes and 25 seconds to f**k me.

A DQ finish (and a sloppy one at that) to end a match that was until that point great.

Tony Khan gives us Hangman Page vs Brian Danielson on Dynamite and gives us a one hour classic (FOR FREE), meanwhile on one of the 'big 4' WWE PPVs, WWE totally disrespects the people watching by giving us that bs!

And that's my review of the Rumble. Because after that crap I had to turn it off.

Say what you want about AEW but I have never had Tony Khan try and f**k me.

And that's it. That's my last ever WWE match I'll ever have to watch. Thank God.

Alright man I think you’re overreacting just a tad.

Honestly, I'd rate this show a 4/10 for the most part. It started off awesome and quickly took a nosedive from there.

Not the absolute worst show I've seen though.

Yeah in my honest review I think both world title matches and the mixed tag were fun. Both rumbles sucked which obviously is a huge detriment since that’s the most important match at the ROYAL RUMBLE pay per view. If this had just been a normal PPV without the rumble matches then it would’ve been fine. But considering we only get the rumble matches once a year, you have to make them count and this sucked.

Pretty fair rating tbh, probably agree here. My main issue is however a rumble is like an easy 6 with minimal effort so I have to consider this an outright failure to meet expectations and mine were so, so low

If you were expecting a hour long non rumble match on the show, that ain’t on WWE bud.
