The updated list is pretty perfect. You cannot go wrong with a single one of those movies. Don't forget to add thoughts in here after you watch each of them so we can discuss it like the big nerds that we are.

Okay, so from what I've watched so far:

Lethal Weapon - Totally did not get the hype behind this one at all. Mel is great in it, but I was expecting a lot more from it.

Big Trouble In Little China - So. much. fun. Loved Russell as a clueless hero, everything else was just wonderfully insane. I get the feeling this is the type of film you wouldn't see made these days, which made me appreciate it all the more.

I do like Lethal Weapon but I can also understand why it fails to live up to people's expectations. It's very indicative of the time of its release, which may also explain why watching it for the first time in 2015 may make it feel a bit off. On the other hand, the second one is a blast so if you ever feel like revisiting those two characters along with some really nasty South African baddies and a hilarious Joe Pesci, seek it out.

Big Trouble in Little China is my second favourite movie of all time and is just so much fun it physically hurts when I watch it due to extreme laughter. I'm positive I've seen it more than 100 times and it just never gets old. Russell as the stumbling, bumbling hero is great as you say and I've always loved that his sidekick basically became the real hero of the picture. Also, David Lo Pan totally rules. That is all.

Another one that I just thought of that you may like (if it's on there) is Three O'Clock High. Just watched it the other day and found it held up really, really well.

Time Bandits as well.

I love that you liked Big Trouble. It was a fun movie.
Russell was great in that movie along with the three defenders of lo Pan. I also have a huge hole in my heart for that big orange furry monster that kidnaps Kim Cantrell. Speaking of Cantrell Manequinn is another 80's jem along with Romancing the Stone and any Indiana Jones films. Bloodsport also came out in the 80's.

I know you don't like horror films Dave, but Booty's shout of April Fool's Day is a good one. It's not really scary and has one hell of an ending. Wang mentioned Sleepaway Camp, which falls into the same category, so you may want to give those a shot at some point. Just do yourself a huge favour and DO NOT read about the ending of Sleepaway Camp or the movie won't have the same impact.

Yeah The Last Dragon is a must see for a Action/Martial Arts buff, you might feel like kicking some ass by the end.

On the subject of films with "last" in the title, The Last Starfighter is pretty awesome.

How could i forget that one.

How about Starman and Total Recall. Summer School is another good one and a great John candy film The Great Outdoors along with Summer Rental, and Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.

Both great additions, Tremors is a ton of fun and Candy/Aykroyd are an awesome pair in TGO.
