More On Kaval's Release, WWE's Approach To Wantaway Talent
- The latest on Kaval's WWE release was that it was more his decision than WWE's.
Kaval wanted to be released from his contract because the company had no plans for him, as demonstrated by the way he was squashed on SmackDown this past week.
At this point, WWE is now more or less granting releases to whoever asks for them and not attempting to keep talent as much as they did last year. Last year, WWE didn't want people jumping to TNA, while right now they don't see them as serious competition.

WWE makes no sense. They release one of the hardest working wrestlers on Smackdown, who is also very much over with the crowd. But they keep JTG, who is neither of those?
So if true they were just jobbing him out just to job him out. Pretty fucked up.Source: Nodq.com
- Kaval requested his release from WWE after being frustrated over his position with the company. WWE creative was told to job him out after winning NXT but were then told to build him up for a few weeks for the pay-per-view title match against Dolph Ziggler, which he lost.
Creative was then told to start jobbing Kaval back out again. The story is that after he lost to Drew McIntyre on the December 21st SmackDown, he asked officials if he had any heat and was told no. Kaval then asked if they had any future plans for him and was told they had no plans or ideas for him. He then asked for his release and was granted.
They didn't make him win NXT though, the fan voting did according to reports. I knew that he would get in hot water because of being the first guy to mention TNA on live WWE TV, but they took his punishment too far even if what he did was dumb as hell. A month or two of getting jobbed/squashed and some embarrassing segments should have been enough, especially after that ppv showing.
